Ashley was born and raised in Bow. My cousins actually live in his old flat now. His mum worked in my school, lovely lady. Was in year 7 when Ash made his debut. Football meant a lot more to him than the money and fame. In and around that time all the talk in East London was about Joe Cole. Use to watch Joe play for West Ham u19s. Crazy talented.
I also grew up in Bow, Ash came to visit our primary school cos his nephew went there. This was 2006 so I was only 4 but he was right in his prime and it was so cool
