I'm one year older than Chiellini( just like De Rossi) and I bought Keane's shirt some years ago. When I started playing I always ask to wear the n3 shirt because of Maldini, but occasionally when I was on the bench I took the n 16
This was by far the best episode. Chiellini was the last breed of old-school Italian defenders. He's intelligent, tough, but also charismatic and friendly off the pitch. He also has a degree in economics. Truly a gem and a role model for the younger generations.
Chiellini is a football manager stuff of legend. IYKYK. Absolutely loved this proper insight from one of the best defenders in our generation. Class content.
Excellent interview. Nice to see Barzagli get a mention as well. Gets no credit here in England but is probably regarded as the best of the three in Italy.
The legend that brought us "it's the history of the Tottenham" meme. Even if he wasn't the legendary defender he was he'd still be a legend to me because of that quote.
@@yessi1585 What he actually said is “Im not a big eater”. Doesn’t mean he doesn’t like good food in fact it’s common in Europe to eat smaller portions but more often. Italians have antipasti, Spanish have tapas etc. All Italians understand food.
As a kid the Italian league had the best players, so it shows how lucky we are to now have the best league in the world. BBC has a lot to do with that, as they use to show and broadcast our games all over the world back in the 80s, which garnered the future fans
Because he wasn’t flashy on the ball, it anyways felt like his defending wasn’t appreciated enough. One of very few genuine world class defenders (in terms of actual defending) of the last 15-20 years
Chiellini seems like a really cool guy. I've over looked him many times, he was in the shadow of buffon and pirlo at juve and in the national team and not really an indivdium at the defense because it was always chiellini and bonucci or chiellini bonucci and barzagli.
Italy i love u , there is jus sumthing about ur food ur style ur culture ur ppl n ur seat of power it is jus marvelous n am a brown skin young man but u ppl i boast ur country please if anyone read find sumway to show more of Italy
Huge respect for Chiellini as a player. And seems like a great guy outside the game too
He speaks more sense about the England team than most English pundits
A lot of the foreign football figures do. But because they're foreign, the English pundits double down on their own stupidity out of spite.
@@Evemeister12can you give us an example of that please?
very true
@@Evemeister12the English media are delusional, but that second part of your statement is ironic from an irish person
That isn't a high bar
I love the respect Roy has from football players of all generations from all over the world
he just respects good players that aren't mentally weak. He's very consistent. Not disagreeing with what you say though.
@@kiriakozyep exactly this. He shares the same mentality as Chielinni. Old school mentality and a true presence in the the changing room.
Winners respect winners.
italian players love roy keane , chiellini , daniele de rossi , all have huge admiration for roy keane
Roy Keane plays like a ruthless Italian midfielder, so cant see why not?
Roy Keane was a world class midfielder, every one knows his quality, even Real Madrid offered him a contract once
I'm one year older than Chiellini( just like De Rossi) and I bought Keane's shirt some years ago. When I started playing I always ask to wear the n3 shirt because of Maldini, but occasionally when I was on the bench I took the n 16
@@SongofIceandTeanot once more! Even at Nottingham Forest
He was about to sign for Sunderland too! SUNDERLAND! Newly promoted at the time. Just for Keane.
What a player this man was, absolute mountain. Seems like a genuinely nice guy .
"It's coming to Rome"
Brutal.
Loved him as a player, and he comes across brilliant here and so interesting to hear an "outside" perspective of english football in an honest way.
I love the respect between Chiellini and Keane
but you didn't even watch the video tf it was out 3 minutes before you commented this

So refreshing having a guest from dufferent league and culture.

How has the overlap become my favourite thing to watch completely over everything it's actually so good!
Excellent interview. Nice to see Barzagli get a mention as well. Gets no credit here in England but is probably regarded as the best of the three in Italy.
Jamie sneaking the cutlery back on the table lol... We noticed lad.
how many times did he drop his cutlery? haha not his natural setting I guess
@@fposhaughnessy Probably trying to steal it
A few times. Putting it back on then folding his arms😂😂
Bootle born and bred. Can't help himself!
switching out the forks for the knock off ones he got at the market

Very calm and collected. Chiellini seems like a great personality. Probably is a food and wine enthusiast.
Literally said he isn’t a bit food guy

@@martinelliott4859 THIS! Well said.
Chiellini is a legendary defender, his head gives a new meaning to a flat top haircut though
😆
Bloke could break records balancing stuff on his head.
What a true legend this man is….
Very intelligent guy and clearly a student of the game. Top guy, would like to see him in the media over here a lot more.
One of my favourite defenders of all time.
We can really learnt a lot from Chielini, if you are a young left footed centre back, watch this guy, smart player, played till 37.
What a big legend, wonkers was a classic
Can tell Chiellini is a very intelligent guy, knows his stuff
Also, I just wish they toned down their accent and pace a bit. How Chiellini understood some of these questions is remarkable.
Proper gentleman. Classy guy with 4 rough northern lads.
Chiellini is super chill. That "wonkers" part got me laughing together with the lads!
“It is the history of the Tottenham”
“We believe in their history.”
Chiellini was a born CB . One of the best to ever grace the game . Was great getting to know him better .
May I add that Roy is an absolute legend !
he was born a midfielder, he said so. 😂 jk

Look at his face. Clearly taken a few boots and elbows. A real defender. Loved being a defender. What a player.
This probably was the best episode ever, giorgio is a very humble guy and just a great atmosphere
Grande Giorgio - what a legend🔥
As a Romanisti i simply cant wait for the De Rossi episode❤️💛🐺
It’s insane he played 120 minutes in that final at 37 😅
That was a brilliant watch 😊
When defenders were actually defenders and not midfielders playing in front of goal...
FINALLY! Thank you The Overlap 🔥
1:20 I cant read menus 😂😂😂
1:04:40 Wonkers Wonkers 😂😂😂
Man the thought of Chiellini marshalling our defence during the early Emirates era .... damn!!
I love this show. But this is my fav episode so far. Chiello ❤️
Enjoyable interview. More please.
Wonkers! Wonkers!
What a mighty player he was!
I was looking forward to this so much after aeeing the teaser a few weeks back...thank you for uploading it.
Roy Is a legend the greatest man on UA-cam
Nice way to start the morning with a bit of Gary waffle and Roy judgment 😂❤
Gary waffle and Roy judgement is exactly what this show is about. Spot on.
With pinch of Wrighty wholesomeness and Cara wit
Chiellini is one of the best defenders to have ever played football.
One of the best episodes yet
Because he wasn’t flashy on the ball, it anyways felt like his defending wasn’t appreciated enough. One of very few genuine world class defenders (in terms of actual defending) of the last 15-20 years
Say what you want but putting any colors aside, the respect of Chiellini towards Roy is what sports is all about

Great interview! Back to football🔥
He and Bonucci were modern classic Italian defenders 💪 underrated in this era 🙏
Legend of the game
I love he gave Isco a lot of credit in 2017. He was amazing that season. ISCO ISCO ISCO.
didnt know I wanted Chiellini on the Overlap, now I need more
What a show 👏👌
Lots of people don't have any idea how famous Keane was/is
Gary was so nervous pouring the wine!!
This podcast has become my favourite thing on UA-cam.
What an episode 👏 💪 😊 👏 👏 👏
sensational episode!
Just what i needed on a Monday morning 😊
Great episode, he's a legend
Much better than the Gervais episode
These guests are amazing, I hope they manage to find more quality guests like Chiellini to interview
I love the way Keane talks to Chiellini, as if he is talking to a kid, a giant kid :)
17:40 Wrighty sharpening his knife at the thought of mentioning the Saka incident

Massive session!
Chiellini chooses because he has the finest palate
Chiellini was world class, superb player and obviously a fantastic servant to juve and Italy.
What a lovely bloke he seems. Very down to earth and what a player. I’ll still never forgive him for euro final against England though 😂
