As a life long Liverpool fan, I grew up watching both eras of each club being at their greatest, but you have to admire the era these lads were in. Rivalry aside, it’s just an admiration for passion and application in the end and the red side of each city has it in spades. Great podcast gents 👏🏻
Exactly, United fan here and it just isn’t the same with rivalries anymore. Really miss those days, I’d look forward to them for weeks and be buzzing for weeks if we won due to the passion and aggression the players showed

I got labelled a glory hunter on many occasions but I was 15 years old before I saw my beloved club win the league. My kid memories other than 1990 and 91 under ferguson and the Ron Atkinson fa cup we had nothing other than Liverpool defeats for memories like Michael Thomas scoring to win the league for arsenal at anfield or Wimbledon beating them at Wembley or even crystal Palace beating them in the semi just months after being battered in the league so no matter how bad things are now, it's been worse
We must be a similar age, born in 78...and you described my childhood experience of following united perfectly, I remember celebrating Palace and Wimbledon wins as hard as any united success (probably with the exception of arsenal fa cup win and 99 champs league win) because Liverpool were so dominant and just wanted anyone to beat them.

I’m a United fan that lived in Leeds for 10 years and I can attest to this, I would only wear my United clothes and shirts when I was at home or when I was going to a game in Manchester, wasn’t worth the grief 😂

First time I saw Scholesy was at Burnley in the Lancs Cup final. United won 4-2 I think, he scored twice and just ran the game. We all walked off talking about how good that unknown ginger kid for United was - little did we know !

Fa cup replay 99. Probably the best game I've ever been to. Out and out bedlam. I got on the pitch twice at villa park. That day and when we played villa in the cup a few years later. At the latter my dad said if I go on the pitch when we equalised I'd get a hiding. Boom, minutes later we got the winner and he's in the 18 yard box 😂😂😂 I had to go get him the soft old git. "not a word to your step mum". She'd seen it on the telly 😂😂😂 he got a rollicking n half once we got back to Gorton. Going away with United when I was young was the best thing about my childhood. Fucking brilliant
I was at that second game and remember it vividly. Sunday night sat above the United fans in the north stand upper. Horrible to watch as a Villan! United fans were brilliant - even at 2-0 down they were fully behind them. Our fans started oléing the passes then Ruud came off the bench and changed everything. Was my first, but far from last experience of watching Villa lose a 2 goal lead against United 🙄

First went on the opening day when you whacked us and you had the old trinity road stand still and all it's brickwork. Should never have been torn down. It was beautiful. We always took thousands to villa park and it always seemed to be the best atmosphere of the season both from us and from the villa.

Born in 72. Liverpool dominated but in the 80s our head to head record against them was Utd by a mile.

My dad told in the 60s there was no hate with Man United fans, just normal working class blocks like them he drank in the local pubs before the game, said all the hate seem to start in the mid 70s

Fa cup replay 99. Probably the best game I've ever been to. Out and out bedlam. I got on the pitch twice at villa park. That day and when we played villa in the cup a few years later. At the latter my dad said if I go on the pitch when we equalised I'd get a hiding. Boom, minutes later we got the winner and he's in the 18 yard box 😂😂😂 I had to go get him the soft old git. "not a word to your step mum".
She'd seen it on the telly 😂😂😂 he got a rollicking n half once we got back to Gorton.

I was at that second game and remember it vividly. Sunday night sat above the United fans in the north stand upper.
Horrible to watch as a Villan! United fans were brilliant - even at 2-0 down they were fully behind them. Our fans started oléing the passes then Ruud came off the bench and changed everything.
Was my first, but far from last experience of watching Villa lose a 2 goal lead against United 🙄
@@heeby123 yeah villa park is my favourite ground in the country for the times we had there. First went on the opening day when you whacked us and you had the old trinity road stand still and all it's brickwork. Should never have been torn down. It was beautiful.
We always took thousands to villa park and it always seemed to be the best atmosphere of the season both from us and from the villa.
