    Our government should do more in order to get Evan back home. It's not enough just to say that he was unlawfully detained, everyone knows it already. We've got to make it clear to russians that such provocations will only hurt them. Providing more military aid for Ukrainian army should do it, but in the end these problems will really end only with Putin's despotic regime being destroyed.

      Daily battles and the absence of recognized authority create an extremely dangerous environment in these territories. The probability of returning, irrespective of whether civilians are assisted or not, is minimal.

      The problem is, this has always been a byproduct of Putin. He has never accepted the idea of democracy and his entire pursuit has been to reestablish the Soviet Union with him at the head. Things are bad in Somalia, but to compare it to Russia is not helpful. Russia could have been a force for the good of the world. Instead Putin's greed and narcissism plus his paranoia have doomed all its people until the oligarchs take him out to the woodshed and do what will inevitably be done.

      The state of affairs has evolved to the extent that the ones wielding guns are the ones determining the law. Attempting to negotiate with terrorists is fruitless, and only military aid can rescue the multitude of captives. We must persist in supporting the Ukrainians in their fight for complete liberation from the Russians. It is only then that we can restore law and order.

      If you believe the Russian government, which routinely lies about things for international benefit, then that’s your opinion.
      Considering they lied about not wanting to attack Ukraine and called worries “western hysteria” before invading, and claimed a US drone magically caught up to a Russian jet and suddenly downed itself despite film showing otherwise, I’d seriously question and immediately doubt anything the Kremlin claims when it involves anything outside Russia.
      Like really, Russia is notoriously corrupt. Wouldn’t be abnormal for them to arrest a journalist and trump up charges of espionage because he could have learned something they didn’t want public.
      Doesn’t even have to be secrets. Could be information on how Russian citizens actually feel, or something parallel to the story where their government fed its troops dog food, rather than rations for fighting men.

When a spy is arrested they don’t give informations about what was compromised by his activities until much later. As you can see with the illegals program in the US 2010.
