I mean, it makes sense that he'd get along with Tornado. While Tornado is a Peppercorn A1, not a Gresley A1, they're both of the same lineage. Arthur Peppercorn, the designer of the Peppercorn A1s (also sometimes referred to as A10s) was one of Gresley's understudies. In a sense, that kinda makes Tornado Gordon's nephew. A rivalry would have been more likely if the visiting locomotive was Britannia or Oliver Chromwell, which are 7MTs originating from Crewe, the former works location for the LMS, the primary rival to the LNER.
I have loved everyone one of the episode this season! This and Ode to George Carlin are two of my favorites thus far! Also, I love the voice of Gordon. He makes him sound just right!
A great way to bring Tornado's story to an end. I also liked that the small engine on the twin's well wagon will be the source of a future episode (which I'm looking forward to). Fantastic work
I once tried to get a 24 coach long train up the incline from Exeter St.Davis with Scotsman in Train Sim 2016. It was hard but I managed. Even more so it was one of my first runs where I fired myself.

You never fail to amaze me, although when Gordon and Alice told Tornado about the LNER I would have preferred it if we could see the Eastern Pacific's clearly. but I still enjoyed it.

And I like how you have Gordon, the first Doncaster eastern region Pacific, and Tornado, the newest Doncaster eastern region Pacific, both pulling that train after Tornado managed to battle Gordon's hill. Quoting from Sir Topham Hatt in Old Iron, "A fine piece of work."
Loved the shot at 7:33, it really shows the power and bond between the two Gresleys. Have to say it was a pity realizing at the end Tornado's stay is over but it was a truly brilliantly written(and filmed as well) episode to give Tornado's visit a great closure :) As Damocles said on your previous episode, being able to keep older fans interested is a huge trait about your series, ( sorry CGI fans but this series is where I actually go and re-watch the episodes due to the appeal suiting me better ;) )
What I like about this episode is Tornado's single-handed effort up Gordon's Hill, hauling a heavy passenger train. I don't believe, at least in a railway series perspective, that anyone was able to put in quite an effort up the hill without mishap.
A nice return for Gordon. I too expected a rivalry between the old and new, especially given Gordon's.. ah... distaste for any engine that pulls the express or any other special train. But it does seem to me Gordon has an entirely new whistle sound, a higher tone than it used to be.

When gordon said he's a rebuild,I thought about my series:in my tornado episodes,the rebuilds are sometimes teased by diesels by being"mock ups" due to there modern day modifications,but most steam engines done tease them:)
Great Story mate! I must say Dan (can I call you that?), you did a great job with the Gordon and Tornado conversations, and they are well done. I also love the directoring, like some of the camera shots of the two Pacific's, especially on a certain season 1 location, and the minor appearance of a narrow gauge engine, hhmm, good looking fellow though.

I never noticed that in my watch in 2014 I'm currently rewatching the series from the beginning and you do see some hits to future episodes Example, in sodor the early years thomas is telling duck about lily and Brian is in the background. And when you see a flash back to old engines being taken to the scap yard lily is not there.
Nice video and for Tornado he's featured in Top Gear where he has to race a 1949 Jaguar XK and 1949 Vincent Black shadow motorcycle really enjoyed the part where LNER/GNR A0/A1 Gordon and LNER/GNR C1 Alice told tornado their stories on the LNER East Coast Main Line (London King's Cross-Peterbrough-Doncaster-Newcastle-Edinburgh) before the original A1 peppercorn engine's were scrapped and to be replaced by Deltics (Class 55) Pip and Emma (Class 43 hst Intercity 125) & Class 91 Intercity 225s from the 1955 modernization plan
Once again you've approved my standers for a "well written story". I was actually upset about the fact that Tornado has to go, but as always; there are some characters that stay and others have to go. Keep up the AWESOME work, and I can't wait for your next STMY episode.
This story really reminds me of Part 4 of Locomotives and Legends. I just found out about it today and read it after finishing the entirety of STEY and STMY in the last month.
I must admit that I liked the faced version of ' Tornado' a great deal. I wonder if anyone will modify the existing model of him with this face.. Love to see it! Silver Band would be pleased to do that in his series. In his stories which match yours and Carson Marenka, Victor Tanzig and one or two others.

Great to see gordon back oh man just the thought of eventually getting Tornado Gordon and Flying Scottsman together would be epic another great episode my friend and this episode is an example of you having the spirit of the original stories from the Awdrys (Father and son) in safe hands i wish the actual show was being written by you i dont necessarily mind the CGI (though i would also prefer the models) however the writing is horrible
If I understand correctly, Thomas has never been directly seen with Tornado in this case. The closest would have to be when Tornado passes Thomas at the viaduct and when Gordon and Tornado arrive at Knapford Station as Thomas and Alice welcome the train.
Finally, Gordon's back. He's one of those charcters that has grown on me for a while now, and its great to see him back. Will you fully cover Alice's backstory at some point? She seems to know a hell of alot about the GNR and LNER, but we've never really seen anything about it before.

Scotsman's fame is legendary but Tornado is a different story. Perhaps it's the novelty of having a newly built steamie. He is a pretty nice engine.
