  • Tool Live New Year's Eve 1995. Full Concert.
    This was laying around in my pile of possible uploads for a year so I thought sharing it now makes sense. An insanely good performance from the band, and one of Justin Chancellor's very first concerts with Tool! Several Ænima songs were already being performed at this point since 1994. The audio sounds a little better now and the video is slightly polished. I used the different angles available for a multi cam edit.

    I was at this show. Note that this was 9 months before AEnima got released. So we were some of the first people *anywhere* to hear the new songs. Not to mention, even after Tool finished their set, we still had almost 2 full hours of Primus to look forward to as we rang in the new year. Literally the best show I've ever been to in 35+ years of going to rock concerts.

      I was there too and hands down the best tool performance. It was my first tool concert and I remember not only being blown away by the new material but it was also the last tour they ever opened up for anyone. Now all they do is headline. I have seen them 12 times throughout the United States and the last time I saw them was on Halloween in Phoenix where Primus opened up for them. Life in Full Circle! I can go on for days but more importantly thank you to tool archives for bringing back such a wonderful memory.

      My mom was there, she said they blew Primus out of the water. Also I feel like 90s were the golden age for music, it has some of the best musicians known to man. I wish that the 2000s could get close to that kind of amazingness. The inlet way to describe the 90s is epic, man I wish I was alive to hear all these bands. It’s any creative persons dream.

After he ripped my two months hard work out of the closet, I decided to protest by blaring Tool songs the rest of the day. Wouldn’t get the chance to see Tool live until 2007. I wish they would have kept that heavy middle section to H and then came in with the guitar solo that's on the record. But you can clearly still tell that they were experimenting with how the finished was going to end up on the record at the time. Adam wasn't excellent guitar player already with his unique rhythm and complex, yet deceptively simple song writing capabilities. His lead guitar work what's great with how we mixed it in with the Rhythms on undertow. Prison sex, sober fantastic guitar solos. But when you hear his guitar leads on the next record clearly here the improvements

    I feel like Adam Jones doesn't get some of the credit he deserves. He's not the top of class guitarist some metal bands have but he is incredibly experimental and puts so much feel into his instrument. He knows how to treat it like a (pun totally intended) Tool and less like a lead instrument. A lot of stuff stands out for me like Jambi and more of his capability.

    • @ecstaticone3993
      @ecstaticone3993 6 років тому +52

      He doesn't try to show off with his guitar, he plays for the song, which is more difficult than one may realize, being tasteful and knowing what tones textures and melody a song is needing. He's rhythmic and melodic which can be a difficult task to achieve both. His guitar tone is incredible, dark, aggressive, industrial, and angelic in songs like disposition, 10,000 days. he plays the perfect notes to achieve maximum emotional reaction in his solos.
