This is an excellent video. Why? For the beginner, you explain step by step the process of maintaining a Lawn. I’m a subscriber and I thank you for your knowledge on Lawns….👍🏾
It's so nice to see you trim the excess dead grass around the edges. So many times I see guys on here just leave those knowing they'll eventually go away but look terrible until they do. So you'll have new green grass coming up all over but have the edges on the driveway looking terrible. Good to see the attention to detail.
Great no nonsense detailed vlogg for us novice lawn guys here as halfway doing my front garden ( abt 30 sq mtr) that’s heavily mossed. Got the Wolf Garten wheelie rake for scarifying and goin to use garden fork for some aeration….hard work but be worth it I hope.🙊🙈 Some general lawn seed to go on n compost on top for next weekends work whilst it’s dry. Good tips at end wen watering too…thx🤔👍🏻
Well done Shaun. I used to dethatch my 150 sq meters lawn twice of year with a hand rake. A lot of work and also used a manual aerator . Now I use electric scarifier and rent an aerator when needed.
@@LawnRight Been in garden and have taken lawn right down. Then Sprayed with cocktail of 48% nitrogen, phosphate, lawn weed killer and seaweed mix. Will leave it now until Good Friday and then do reseed. Thanks Shaun. Motivating video !
A really good instructional video that will certainly help many people. I have a generic compost spreader not made by the same company as yours, they are great. Top channel, keep them coming 👍🏻
Quick question, would you ever have concerns about the seeds which fall down into the holes are are then filled with compost? Will they still get enough light from the sun?
Been following your channel for a while now and really starting to see the improvements in the quality of the videos. Voiceovers sound much clearer and professional than the entirely Mic'd up videos although it's sometimes good to hear your comments 'live' during the process. This is not a criticism as such but some of the information in the blue arrows looks a little 'cheap', the graphics, for example, at 15:37 look much more modern and clean
Nice job sir. But why use a tiller machine to turn the soil and then reseed. That the way I did it. I also used sharp sand with compost and then used peat moss as the bed for my seeds. The hardest part was the watering as I would forget but I did use a sprinkler with a timer. Any good work and can please show a follow up on how this lawn turned out please. All the best.
Hi you can actually pop some in a wheelbarrow and create piles across the lawn and rake it out in all directions.. just be careful raking when its all bare soil as you may move some of the seeds. In this case take handfuls and rub between two hands over the entire area.. I've lost count how many lawns I've done this way... you can also empty bags in a wheelbarrow and use a spade to pick some up them swing the spade around allowing the compost to be flung across the lawn in an arf.. lool at Robbie videos on premier lawns channel he does this quite a lot
Hi I scratch the soil surface and remove enough thatch to ensure nutrients etc can get down.. so seeing grooves.. I've never used the sheets but seriously tempted
Hi on the emerald green its a hypro f110-04. It's got a few things in it that provide alot of goodness that the plant loves to thrive.. cant say too much about the formula sorry 😊
Hi think after seeing this I will do my front garden. It's only a small area. But what do you use to kill the grass? And do you need to treat the soil at all after it has had the grass killer on before you add the new seed!?
Hi to kill everything including the grass I used roundup 360... after applying it's safe to seed about 2 to.3 weeks later.. and no need to treat the soil 😊👍
Hi Ian, Roundup degrades in the soil and is usually completely broken down to nothing within 2 weeks.. often I'll leave it 3 weeks before any seeding but it's very handy in that respect
Hi you can definitely go without. Just keep it nice and damp for the first 4 weeks..on the flip side, adding feet usually helps. The more things you can do the better the overall result. Usually.. but I've definitely done it with and without thanks
Great video. Have a quick question, we moved to a house with neglected lawn, soil has lots of clay in it and is really uneven. Would you recommend using sand to even it up please ? Or should we go top soil instead ? Many thanks
Hi, personally its got to be topsoil so its somewhat similar to existing. For me the only folks using sand should be those who have very sandy soils, for example neat the coast or golf courses
Hi Mark.. anything with glyphosate in it applied to any begstatiaoan will kill off that vegetation.. and is highly dangerous for aquatic so youd need to apply on a non windy day and not spray within a metre of those. I use roundup pro 360 cheers
Was planning to do some scarifying today (3 April) in the back garden but it looks cold in the UK for the foreseeable. Worth hanging on a couple of weeks until it warms up again?
Entirely your choice and wont harm to wait.. as a business I have to push the boundaries due to the amount of jobs I have to fit in and havent ever seen any major detrimental issues scarifying when cold. The lawn is going to get stressed regardless. Thankfully with your own lawn you can afford to hang on a touch longer
Hi buxus are particularly sensitive to roundup so spray only when thetr is no wind.. you may want to leave a few inches so the spray doesn't touch the shrubs.. if you lower the spray to grund level you can get a little closer but just be "very" wary
Hard to say if honest but hopefully ok.the frosts here in yorkshire have only been short lived. Plus seeds are generally ok anyway as long as theyve not yet germinated
@@LawnRight ahh fingers crossed then, last weeks weather I thought we’d turned a corner and thought perfect time to do it and then obviously we’ve had crazy weather since.
Hi Shaun, in the process of redoing my 100m2 weedy bumpy lawn. I used roundup on it last week and it does look to be dying back, but some areas look untouched. How long should I leave it before weeding again?! Also it’s thick clay. My plan was to weed kill, till it, level it and add some topsoil before reseeding, does this sound reasonable?
Hi connor when ita colder it can look like it's not worked for maybe 2 weeks and then all of a sudden it will start to go yellow... seeding needs to be at least 2 weeks anyway after roundup, so see how it looks in a week or so 👍

Lot of hard work. Brilliant job well explained. Really enjoyed watching that!

Hi Shaun another great tutorial. Good to see you using both mechanical and manual equipment . You explain things so clearly. Thanks 👍

Lifesaver! Looking forward to your lawn this season
Looks like hard work just getting your equipment in and out of the van. Great video. I'm learning a lot too. Thanks 👍
Thanks Lynne.. yes as it's not the biggest van everything goes in and.comes out in a certain order so it can take 15 to 20 minutes to unload.
I’m learning a lot from you Shaun thank you 🙏 I know there more to learn cheers mate great job
No problem. Happy to help 👍
Hi Sean, great video. If uou were doing this today would you use the Landzie Lawn Leveler instead if the roller?
Hi no everything's still the same.. The leveller levels out any newly added soil for dips etc so I still use both 😊👍
Love the videos always very informative, maybe you could go back to some of these and film the results?
Yep I will be providing updates once theyve all come through and I next visit 😊
Another great video 👍🏽 can’t wait to get my lawn looking full again
😊😊💪💪💪 soon yay!
Nice one Shaun. Hopefully the hard frosts over the past few days haven’t killed of the new growth.
🤞🤞

Thanks for this, excellent, How soon following a full renovation should you start feeding the new grass, perhaps it could be a new video
Hi! I wouldn't be looking to do too much to it for a good 2 months fert wise and then only something balanced or root focused..
Nice job sir. But why use a tiller machine to turn the soil and then reseed. That the way I did it. I also used sharp sand with compost and then used peat moss as the bed for my seeds. Hi.. thanks! Yes I'll be going back at some point and will follow up. Thanks for sharing your method guess theres more than one way to get an outcome
If you didn't have the Landzie spreader, what would you use? Is it worth buying a cheap one for someone who doesn't do it for a living?

Renovations very tough on the blades, how deep did you go into soil? Did you remove all the thatch,? Don't you use germination sheets?
Hi I scratch the soil surface and remove enough thatch to ensure nutrients etc can get down.. so seeing grooves.. I've never used the sheets but seriously tempted
How many bags of compost would you say needed for 100sq/m of lawn
Approx 7sq m a bag so about 14
Great video Shaun - what noozle are you using on the Coopler Peg?...How does the Emerald Green help seed germination?
Hi on the emerald green its a hypro f110-04. It's got a few things in it that provide alot of goodness that the plant loves to thrive.. cant say too much about the formula sorry 😊

When you get to the brick wall with the mower, do you lift it and reverse? The video fades so I couldn’t see
Hi i just go in as far as possible forward thanks
You said you killed the grass first with round up wouldn't that contaminate the soil. Or does that not harm in anyway.
Thank you.
Hi Ian, Roundup degrades in the soil and is usually completely broken down to nothing within 2 weeks.. often I'll leave it 3 weeks before any seeding but it's very handy in that respect
Nice one Shaun have you ever replaced blades on scarifier or ware down pretty slowly ?
Hi I usually just let my local guy swap them over.. but I am tempted to do it to keep costs down
6:30 lol jinx yourself try to keep clean
Blows a bag of grass 🤣
Great guide though 👌
Ha ha.. I knew that happened but your the first to notice it 😁😁😁 🤣🤣
Is it essential to put a fertiliser/pre seed fertiliser down prior to seeding or can you go without
Hi you can definitely go without. Just keep it nice and damp for the first 4 weeks..on the flip side, adding feet usually helps. The more things you can do the better the overall result. Usually.. but I've definitely done it with and without thanks
Is there any chance to see the lawns once they have grown

Cheers. Love the channel, nice mix of pro stuff and diy/cheaper alternatives. Much more approachable than some of the US based channels.
Shaun ,.how many times would you scarily a lawn from.the start of the season to the end?
Hi once a year is usually plenty .. more can be done lightly and will keep it in good shape.. so for a fanatic I'd say 2 to 4 times at most
If the lawn was bordered by a laurel and buxus would it still be safe to kill off the lawn with roundup?
Hi buxus are particularly sensitive to roundup so spray only when thetr is no wind.. you may want to leave a few inches so the spray doesn't touch the shrubs.. if you lower the spray to grund level you can get a little closer but just be "very" wary
@@LawnRight thanks!
Can I do this renovation this month of April?
Hi yes absolutely as long as no deep prolonged frosts in forecast for next 2 weeks
Would a heavy down pour of rain wash the seeds away 👍
Hi yes it would definitely have some effect depending on the severity
I reseeded my lawn the other day but have had Snow and a few frosts. Would that have killed the seed?
