This reminds me of when I was a boy, lying in bed at night and listening to train whistles in the distance. I lost my father at 9 years old (whom I loved dearly) and raised by my mother. Trains whistle sounded so lonely and sad to me. I enjoyed listening to the whistle and imagining where the train was going, but only that it was going somewhere, not imagining the destination. But there was always a cathartic experience in that I was able to understand the loneliness and sadness from the trains prospective. Why am I writing about this at 1:50am to no one? Don’t know. Allowing me to express these emotions through typing and not truly experiencing them, maybe an answer. Sorry if it’s not clear to understand. Psycho-analyze if interested.
Here I am at 1 in the morning the same way, haha. I always felt a tinge of longing in the horns when I was a kid. Like they're calling out to someone far away. My dad kinda up and left my family, and there's always been this feeling like a missing gap in my life that the trains called out to. Like if I could just ride as long and far as possible that they'd show me what would fill that gap. There's a strange loneliness to the world, but I like to take peace in knowing that there's people who lay awake at night listening to the same trains and feeling the same way. I don't know if this helps at all, but I wish you the best on your journey.
I understand this completely and have always felt exactly the same way. Hearing the distant train whistle while lying in bed as a kid was strangely lonely, romantic and comforting at the same time. Hard to explain! PS...it's 1:35 a.m.!
Crazy I'm not the only one that this reminds me of...laying in bed at night when I used to sleepovers at my friends or cousins place when I was a kid! I lived out in the country so when I used to visit them & lay at night hearing the trains it was a memory that will always stick in my head!
Thank you so much for this. Reminds me of when I was a little girl, lying in bed at night. I would hear the train whistles in the distance and be comforted by them. There wasn't much time for comforting in my home growing up. I found comfort with the train whistles.
My grams living across the st. From the train tracks. As you mentioned things weren't great back then My parents were separating. It was a scary time as a 6 year old. But at my grams house I felt safe. So when ever I hear a train I still get that feeling that all is safe & secure! It's a warm fuzzy!
When I was a child, I lived in a run down railroad town that would always have trains roaring in the distance at night, and I was always awake to hear it. There was a traumatic point in my life that forced our family to move to a crisis center, and for as depressed as I was, I still heard the trains, almost as if things were going to be okay despite what happens. I’ve since moved away from that town after that period of life, and have lived in different locations where there weren’t any railroad tracks or trains nearby. Yet, anytime I hear the trains in the distance, however rare that might be, I’ll always think back to kid-me leaning on the window at the crisis center, viewing the street of my old town at night, with the train sounds echoing, showing me that things did turn out okay. Thank you for posting this video, it means a lot to me. :)
I love train sounds so much I grew up semi-near tracks and I also suffered from insomnia all throughout my tween/teen hood and hearing those sounds really comforted me. I’m on something now that knocks me out usually but on the rare chance I’m still up or wake up in the middle of the night and hear a train it’s such a blessing and nostalgic for me. I hope to always live near the tracks
My dad lives right next to a railroad track. I just realized tonight, i couldnt hear it over my brothers music, how much i enjoy the sound of distant train. Anyway, i love this audio haha.
Thanks for this! Takes me back to my childhood when I was a little girl and I would have trouble sleeping so I'd stay up late to hear the trains go by since they would always come so late at night. Now where I live there aren't any trains and I miss the sound, so thanks again!
Reminds me of my college town, which I now consider my home. When I moved back in with my parents after the school year, I wouldn't have guessed that I would miss the sound of the train passing through often. Thank you for this
There's something about the sound of a train whistle that catches at my heart. I can't explain it. It's sad, but yet comforting and peaceful at the same time.
I remember when I was a little girl we lived in Chicago. My Mom would sit on our front porch at night and chat with the neighbors. I can remember the tone of their voices as I lay my head on my Moms lap. Muffled, low tone, even their laughter had a soft relaxing, safe tone. After everyone would go home I still layed there and I could here the trains horns coming from what I think was the stock yards. It was a safe place on my Moms lap and the trains were my lulliby.
Train sounds just bring me nostalgia to when me, my mom, and my aunt sometimes would go on walks around town, hang out at my school's playground, and end up coming home late at night with nothing but orange street lamps lighting around. I'd hear the train as we passed my school. I can still vizualize the orange hue. And our elongated shadows.
I am a night owl and as I get older have trouble getting to sleep. I put trains on to turn my mind off. It doesn't put me to sleep because I stay awake to hear the whistle. This one has a lot of whistles so maybe sleep will come. Like most people, there is something about them that is nostalgic. I remember being in bed and wondering what each sound was signaling. I always felt safe because I know my parents were there. I now open the window at times just to hear them in the woods by our house.
This reminds me of when I was about five. Our house in Alabama was near some train tracks and I loved to hear the train whistles. I thought the sound was a little creepy, but I loved it just the same, and I still do.
There's an ethanol plant near where i live, god i love hearing those c39s and acers sounding off, they sound almost sad, like they're all alone on the way to their destination and don't know where they're going. I want to go on that adventure with them but i can't. It reminds me of everyone I've met who's gone away that i can't see, i want to see them but i can't.
Hey I love some of your train sound for sleeping videos and were wondering if you were gonna make more, I have a few distance train horn samples I could give you too use in a future video
Really cool horns, nice video. I noticed in your description you talk about copyright and this is your video. Just letting you know I came across another UA-cam video that appears to use this exact soundtrack. Let me know if you want a link to that video.
There is so much ads you cant fall a sleep with this, it was good back then, its been like 2-3 years that use this video to sleep and there was a moment when you got 2 ads at the start then you could let the video play and fall asleep and people will say get youtube premium but thats a another debate, can you reduced them or something

Deena Rocco. I get it. No comfort whatsoever in family of origin. I went no contact years ago.

My fav distant trains cuz there’s no other background soundz… just the train which is the way it would be in your home.
Nothing like the good ole days

I keep playing this to go to sleep
keep playing Mickey :D
Gonna be a sad day when trains go extinct
They wont
Amen to that. 😔😔😔
Trains won't they have a purpose for transporting cargo on ships across the country
This is very nice, but I think you should de-noise the whole recording with software like Izotope RX. That would make it even better.
Actually, the noise is from youtube conversion and I got nothing to do with it.
@@MariuszPierog No way, it compresses the sound so heavily?
Love it
New device and got booted off UA-cam so had to find you and re-subscribe. Thank you!
