I have loved the sound of trains and their horns since I can first remember! I don’t know why but it’s a lonely sound but comforting too! I think most people would agree with me.
Sally Hover Yes miss sally I do agree with you near my home there is some railroad tracks and commuter trains and freight trains are always going by very enjoyable especially when you can hear a freight train approaching late at night
I grew up with the sound of train horns because i lived a few blocks from the railroad tracks. Usually a local freight would come thru in mid morning and then again in the afternoon. And I always liked the sound of the train horns, especially the leslie RS3LR and K5HL in the distance. They had to use the horn alot as there were a dozen plus crossings going straight thru downtown. Was a pleasant experience. When I was a kid I would frequently go down to the tracks and wave to the Conrail crew who would be bringing their train thru, usually with a pair of switchers. Good times and good memories with family who are now gone.
I am so happy to find this recording, specifically! I grew up in a little mill town, and the train ran parallel to our street. My bedroom was up front, closest to the house. Being born and raised there, I found the sounds of the trains comforting. I was a sickly kid, and the late-night trains moving through always comforted me. And the sound of rain has always been my favorite. This sounds JUST like a night in my old bedroom. Thank you so very much!
I love the sound of a train. It carries a haunting sound of moving into the abyss of space with no time yet time will change your course. I was a little girl, maybe three, when my life changed profoundly as I boarded the stairs and moved far away. I had no idea at the time that the train whistle would be forever etched into my life as a symbol of the family that disappeared from me. This mystical sound will be a huge part of my upcoming film, "Eugenea's Story." I can't wait to see it on screen.
I have lived a few places where there were no trains around and I find that after a month or so I really miss hearing the sounds of a train whistle. having discovered this recording today I'll definitely be listening to it more than once.
We actually have a rail train in our town and I can't tell the difference between this video and the real train horn when it blows every hour or so. Thanks for your upload.
I live in a town where we have no trains close all working tracks are miles away yet the train can still be heard. Quite haunting but it’s always nice to hear especially during early mornings when spring and summer come around
This is BRILLIANT thank you. I used to live in Missouri near a Burlington Northern railroad and train yard. I find it hard to sleep missing these sounds. We used to have 1 mile long trains leaving Springfield and the other end probably arriving in the next town before they left us! Love the rain Love the train! Period!!! thanks.
Moved from the coast and surely miss the surf and seagulls sounds. Have always loved rain and distance train sounds. Favorite time is in a deer blind in Texas while its raining and off in the distance....train sounding its horn. Slept like a baby. Oh and not a single deer did I see through my closed eyelids.
years ago I lived several hundred feet from a train track. Every night around 3am, I'd wake up to the train light coming into my bedroom. As soon as I heard the horns blaring, I'd jump up and run down to the track, in great anticipation to watch the train roar through. It was so exciting. I miss it. I wish I could find a house close to a train track, tell the owner they'd have to give me a discount for the nuisance, when all the while, I'm dying to live there!
I love your story.i am a fan of trains & I lived near a commuter rail stop as a young- mid teen.i loved hearing that train, winter& summer come through, & hearing the departure in the distance.so special.
Fantastic!!! Excellent!!! Perfect 4winding down at the end of a hard day. Especially b4 bedtime w/a hot, sweet cup of chocolate. Thanx a bunch 4it. I'm definitely saving 1.

I remember this from childhood, laying on the couch at my grandma's house, and listen to the train go by when it storms and stuff.

This is great for writing
Too bad there isn’t a 8 or 10 hour. I would leave this on all night
If you two finger click in the upper right corner, you can set it on a loop.
Is there a 2-hour long MP3 version of this?
Sense I am a rail fan it's like the most perfect thing! (BTW good catch on the sd70m)
Thanks man :D
This series is cool! May I use this series in a playlist?
I listen to these every night for sleeping but I usually fall asleep pretty late
There is not anything that we can count on or trust except maybe a train.

Depending on the year the ES44 was built in, If its earlier it could be a K5HLL but in the video the ones you hear are K5HL.
