I used to live in a neighborhood with nearby trains that made a sound extremely similar to this. I heard them most every night when I would go to bed and it soothed me to sleep within minutes. Cannot thank you enough for this video. So relaxing.
Something about trains in the distance is relaxing . Like out of sync with time or something. Though trains up close will drive me nuts .I used to live about 2 klms from Dundas station. Late at night when the last trains of the day would run down that line I could hear them lying in bed. Quite soothing it was.
Hearing the trains from a distance used to calm me late at night as a child because I had the tendency of waking up in the middle of the night afraid. Hearing it now helps me sleep 😴
I went to sleep at night and awoke in the morning when I was a kid. I have missed that for the last 52 years.Recording is so real you forget it is recorded. Great!!!
This sound remembers me of my Girlfriend... She is not here now...She used to live near railway station... Whenever I hear this I remember her... This really means a lot for me... Actually I loved her very much and she is still inside my heart💓
Um I’m not comfortable dealing with emotions because I wasn’t taught how so ima leave an f to pay respects to them, good job living for them when they can’t themselves.
Thank you for having real train sounds that are not in a loop. The train sounds are authentic like the trains near my house as a child. My sleep is better.
sarah farmer When I was about five, I lived near some train tracks. As a blind person, sounds fascinate me so I absolutely loved the sound of a train whistle. This is a perfect video. Choo-choooo.
Spent a lot of time as a kid at my grandmas in the Southwest Virginia coal country. Hearing trains was 2nd nature to me, This brings back great memories!! THANKS!!
This is one of the best videos I've ever seen. My cousin's mom's sister just went to jail after stealing a shipment of nacho cheese from the Goodyear blimp yard, so my whole family has slept poorly this last week. This video has saved our lives. How can we repay you?
I can't believe this ~ I just heard the train from where I live and I wish these was a video of far off train whistle . I open up UA-cam and here it is, the video. 🙂 Awesome.
I grew up by a train track and all the trains were so relaxing that after a wile train sounds and long car rides were the only thing that could put me to bed 💓💓💝
When I was little I'd go to my grandparent's home and the train would wake me up in the morning. Especially right after summer was over. This helped me remember--- thanks! xoxo
I used to live right across from an old railway track by The Thousand Steps. I used to love hearing the trains rattle in and out of the station. After I moved I had to play train sounds to fall asleep. I really miss that house. Thank you so much for this video!
When I was younger and before I lived in the same city and state as my grandparents and majority of my family, I used to love coming to visit because it meant two things: vacation and parties. And if my cousins were on vacation as well, even better. We all would love to spend the night at my grandma's house who lives only about, two or three streets away from a train track. And now, any time I hear the sound of a train, whistle and all, I get nostalgic and think back to those times where I would be the first one to wake up, sun barely coming out for the day, and I could hear the trains. It helps me relax and feel calm, especially since as I've gotten older, my anxiety has gotten worse. So thank you so much for this video! Edit: I posted this comment a few days before said grandma mentioned in the post, passed away. She had been going to the hospital more often than usual the months prior and seemed weaker but she always seemed to push through and return to herself. Now, when I hear the distant train and whistle, it adds on more meaning. I would go back to sleep after being the first to wake up, only to wake up again a few hours later with my grandma making breakfast for all of us. Because of everything going on, it was difficult to have a proper funeral for her, or for many of my cousins to fly in. We've all gotten closer this year, thankfully but I don't think I've shared this particular memory with them. I've shared it many times with my immediate family and a close friend who has helped me through this loss, even voicing that I would like to live the same distance my grandma did from the train tracks to hear them better. With the holidays here, I've thought about my grandma a lot more, knowing that Christmas will never be the same. But, I'm grateful that I was able to spend last year's Thanksgiving and Christmas with her and that everybody was obsessed with taking family photos that I still have on my phone. Stay safe everybody, tell your loved ones that you love them, and watch something that makes you smile.
I like to hear the train horn sounds it makes me sleepy I don't like the train sounds with the tracks sound it gets on my nerves but the horns just have a step back in time to them thanks
I'm am aspiring author and this video with nature sounds and train sounds help me imagine my stories and charecters during the writing process. Thanks for making this video!
This sound instantly reminds me of that amazing and unforgettable year I spent in the US. Every night, I heard the train sounds echoing in the distance. So relaxing.
First time hearing this last night. I lay in bed thinking of old memories, places I have lived and old films and happy times. Had a good night's sleep. Not slept right for months so I will listen to every night now. Thank you so much .
This is very well done. I'm several blocks from the railroad and don't get the sound of the trains like I used to. Love when I can hear it on a cool evening with a breeze blowing in the window. This September when we lost power in my neighborhood after the hurricane it was the best sleep I had in years. No wifi, no TV, no lights, everyone quiet in bed and just the fresh air blowing in the window.
Couldn't have said it better myself. Nice dark room on a chilli night, window slightly opened with nothing but the sound of distant trains and horns. The BEST sleep everrrr!!!!
Oh thank you. Lived like a football field next to the tracks, one of my babies loved watching the trains and they'd be on their way and he'd call don't go don't go. Lovely memories. Older sons and I set next to a fire pit and lisson to the lonesome sound of the trains snaking there way through the hills and valley, we lived in an old railroad town called Arden Nevada. When we had to move away I had trouble sleeping for the lose of the train sounds and the house shakes from them. Ah nite nite. Sweet dreams
Hi this is the second time I've posted... I just wanted to say this is the best sounding train video I could find... I decided to go through all the other videos and they're just not cutting the mustard. I keep coming back to this one. It has a perfect blend of birds, some traffic, and trains. Thanks so much for taking the time to make this. And I do hope u can put a train and cricket video together soon when the seasons change. Again thanks:-)
Who knew this would be so useful , I lived in the city a bit as a kid but moved to the country to live with my grandma and I missed the late night train sounds. Now I’m back living in the city and I go outside a lot late at night and here them in the distance ... always better on a cold fall/winter morning w/ a cup of coffee or cocoa 🥺💕
Thank you for doing this. I am from Ohio & I have always loved the training hornssounds if the Train on the tracks. These horns go way deep in my soul and comfort me Relaxes me.
I knwo this comment may be really late but thankyou for this!! It reminds me of when I was 12 and would wake up every morning just to hear the early train pass by house, now that I’m 17 and live more in the city I don’t hear it as much anymore. So thankyou
I don't live near any trains, but I visited an old friend in a small town near Des Moines last summer, and just loved listening to the trains. This is very realistic.
I grew up right next to a train track, so when I was forced to move into the city and away from the train track I realized I had a hard time sleeping without hearing the train sounds in the background. Now train horns are more of a calming, nostalgic sound for me, strangely. Reminds me of home, which I miss greatly.
I lived by a repair station (i think it was), not super close but just enough to hear them at exactly 11pm. Then, after 15 years, I moved to a small town where all I hear is my dog snoring and maybe some rain if it does. I really do miss the train sounds and quite honestly needed them to sleep when I first got here!
After living down the street from RR tracks and playing around them growing up, the sound of a train horn is quite relaxing. You don’t even notice them anymore unless you’re trying to hear them.
I love the sound of a train. It carries a haunting sound of moving into the abyss of space with no time yet time will change your course. I was a little girl, maybe three, when my life changed profoundly as I boarded the stairs and moved far away. I had no idea at the time that the train whistle would be forever etched into my life as a symbol of the family that disappeared from me. This mystical sound will be a huge part of my upcoming film, "Eugenea's Story." I can't wait to see it on screen.
IDK WHY I LIKE THE SOUND OF FAR AWAY TRAINS. Can someone tell me if they know?? I’m so curious. Maybe it’s childhood or something but I’ve just always loved it.
Ah yes, yes. Its soothing, and better in my room at night. I live near the NS Chicago Line, and theres a crossing by a McDonalds that trains can blow their horns... they go quiet if crossing the river heading west/towards chicago. The 2 Crossings afterwards are quiet zones and all you get are bells. I love the distant sound of a Nathan K5LLA or K5LA echoing from a nearby lake town
WolfieBeast201: Omg, thank you SOO much for making this video! It's exactly for what I was looking for. And btw, for some reason the train sounds sounds like the train sounds where I live. Lol. 😀
Weird how this was the only thing I heard growing up when I went to sleep with all my electronics turned off. I started hearing them in different HBO shows and realized how nice of a sound it really is.
Song, Psychotic Reaction by The Count Five has the best sounding train horn blues harp I ever heard. Anyone know how the train whistle, horn has evolved over the years ?
I'd really like to hear some distant train sounds with crickets... There's too many with trains and rain... Don't like those.. This is the closest I can get to what I want... It would also be nice to have a long vid too... Like 6 hrs
Yes, I'd love more than 60min to this video. I really like this video Too. There was 1 summer that we got to live near a train track. I fell in love with the sounds, it was music to my ears 🎶🎶🎵 Everyone else in my family disliked it
This is fantastic! If I could make a request - could you do an hour's worth of steam train whistles? I mean the American Big Boy whistles, not the mamby pamby English trains.
I don't believe any tech specs are needed. It's just a combination of a bunch of steam whistles from locomotives through the 1940's into early 1950's, just before steam was replaced by diesel-electric. Oh yeah! Those locos were the true badass of the 20th century!!

I love the sound of trains. It makes me homesick for places and people that no longer exist. This is the closest I can come to visiting them again.
I used to live in a neighborhood with nearby trains that made a sound extremely similar to this. I heard them most every night when I would go to bed and it soothed me to sleep within minutes. Cannot thank you enough for this video. So relaxing.
