  • This project is a walnut vertical bookshelf. I designed this in Fusion 360 and the Avid CNC did most of the heavy lifting during fabrication. I purchased the lumber from a local outfit that specializes in live edge slabs. They also sell roughly dimensioned lumber and had some very interesting and beautiful but rough pieces to pick from. Luckily the CNC is really useful for flattening out warped wood. In the video, I only show a few of the dimensioning steps (there were many) to keep it from getting too repetitive.

Great build!! Where did you get the files for the large circular pressure clamps!! Love them! What dust shoe are you using. I made mine with inspiration from Jay Bates and the free Avid one. Good work! I was viewer number three on the video. Lol. Take care

Thanks Kurt! I designed those pressure clamps in Fusion 360. I made a few different sizes and styles. They are oblong (cam shaped) so that I can lock the piece into place using lateral pressure/leverage. They have slots that are sized to accept a Rockler T Track bolt. If the geometry of the piece doesn't work to clamp them down using the slot, I just clamp them in place using the T Track hold downs and spacers like I did in this video. The dust shoe I'm using is from Kent CNC. There is a link to them on the Avid website. It works alright, but I think it may be worthwhile to do a dual 4" dust shoe if you have a strong enough dust collector since this one struggles to contain the dust when I'm doing facing operations in the +Y direction. I think Avid may even have a project file for a dual 4" dust boot on their website (if I'm remembering Frank Howarth's video correctly, I believe that was where he got his design).

@@NorskieCNC thanks. I’m gonna steal that clamp design or sort of. Lol. Jay bated has a free file for a two hose dust shoe on his website. Free download. Thanks for the heads up on the clamps.

@@kurtmartin8162 feel free to steal it! I put these videos up hoping that they'll be helpful. I know I've learned a lot from watching videos other makers post.
