And it would be hilarious if at that point, Savathun's hive don't fight us anymore, and he's getting pwned by the forces of Xivu Arath and the Witness.
One very important note Byf. even by the sword logic, Kelgorath is doing what he is meant to. Each time we defeat him he grows stronger as the finite an weaker elements of him are chiseled away. And as he continues to face us, he does the same to us, propelling us to ever greater heights. Waging war against Xivu Arath only makes her stronger. By making us stronger, Kelgorath is tithing to Xivu Arath. In that way, you bragging about defeating him is failing to realize that you've already shot yourself in the foot. and Each new defeat we put him through, is really a self defeat, one more shot to the foot. And by the time we face Xiva Arath herself, we may find with have no legs to stand on because we've shot them both off completely.
Maybe. You may have a good point. But, there certainly isn’t an easy solution to killing a god of war. Not participating in war means our demise. Participating in war with Xivu means making her stronger, while we may stay at the same level of stagnation in terms of power and a strategic position. Kelgorath and Xivu may not even die this season. But whatever solution to destroying the Black Fleet, and eradicating Xivu Arath permanently, may yet lie on Neomuna. Just like Season of the Plunder, we may be in a lose-lose situation. But if we can restore Rasputin, and upload him to the Warsat network with Guardains and Warmind frames to defend him, we may gain another asset in the war. I still have a bad feeling the City may be lost in Lightfall, as the battle of the front of Neomuna may end up being a distraction to leave the City slightly more undefended. If the City is lost, we may have to find sanctuary somewhere else, like Neomuna. Rasputin could very well become stronger with Neomuna’s nanotechnology to upgrade himself however.
Well... His goal is still to ultimately to kill us. The mans is still hilariously failing at that. His failure may be, in the grand scheme of things, going as planned... But Xivu counting on him to fuck up must be the most embarassing thing.
@@asimovstarling8806 FACTS! after all, lets not forget that the lore master was wrong about uldren becoming a guardian let alone cayde's potential replacement so i wouldnt be surprised if this new darkblade puts his deep in the ground for his many defeats! or at the least, take someone important to us!
Oryx, adherent to sword logic, saw us as an obstacle, something to test his might against. He was beaten by playing within his rules. Savathun, a trickster god, saw us as a tool, a means to achieve esoteric goals. She was beaten by revealing the truth about herself. Xivu Arath doesn't have greater ambitions beyond war. Giving gifts like this, marshaling ancient hive heroes, announcing her presence in such a dramatic fashion, I think she sees us as an equal. Think about it, armies of immortals doing infinite battles would be the ultimate reward of a war god.
Idk, a war without a victor isnt really a war just fighting. I think xivu may see us as her best opponent. Taking us down would allow her to end and be the victor of longest war in the universe between light and dark Edit: it is amazing how many people are irritated by this comment. Yall need to get some lives
I hope that if we ever get a Xivu Arath raid, one of the encounters starts off with a Generic hive knight boss without any mechanics, and then when we kill him, Kelgorath jumps out of nonwhere and becomes the actual boss of the encounter.
No indication it's even an encounter either. You see a rally banner spot and a pesky Knight is shooting at you. You shoot the Knight, the rally spot goes away, and now you're suddenly fighting Kelgorath, risen from God Knows Where.
Kelgorath probably came up in the ranks because he had heard a motivational speech by Taniks. "So what if a guardian kills you a couple of times? If you keep getting back up they'll eventually run out of ammo. You got this."
You know what? Kelgorath isn't a loser. At all. It's just that, every mission, he runs into US. THE Guardian. Slayer of Oryx and Savathûn. We killed his gods and it just so happens that when he's given a task, we show up. It's like a really loyal commander being sent against the Doom Slayer. The very fact that he steps out again to fight us is an achievement.
I feel like Kelgorath is Xivu Arath's direct response to the resurrection capabilities of a Guardian. She noticed the Guardian doesn't actually always succeed, and has to try again with a revive. Kelgorath has failed every time he's faced us, but we're the only ones he's failed against twice. He's killed Guardians and Techeuns alike after he scraped *most the red off his armor. Remember the Ascendant Plane she brought down on him to escape? He vowed not to get fooled by her again, then hunted her down and killed her, just like we would. He's the literal antithesis to Guardians, but with Hive Magic rather than using the Light.
Mm. The meme of him being useless is just typical Destiny playerbase arrogance. The man has permanently killed a ton of Guardians at this point. Sure he'll always lose going up against us, we have plot armour.
Honestly I think it’s because kelgorath embodies xivu Arath in a way not many enemies in the hive do. The way her tribute system is described is that any war, any violence is tribute to her. So for Xivu, long, drawn out and bloody conflicts are what she wants. Kelgorath in the lore fails consistently, but is constantly returning and coming back. He is a living war of attrition. It doesn’t matter if he fails in the short term, he is constantly giving xivu tribute through his battles. That’s why she keeps giving him chances and promoted him to darkblade
Actually in the lore he succeeds, he has a fair few Guardian kills and also slew several Techeuns. He fails in the STORY, facing THE Guardian, the one who clapped Worm gods, and Hive gods, and even a Disciple of the Witness.
The idea that Kelgorath's blade is formed into an "imitation of Xivu's black edge" makes me hopeful that we're going to get a dope-ass sword once we finally kill Xivu
One thought I can't shake lately is "What is Hakke up to?" They helped developed Revision Zero, they developed the glaive containing a potent link to Xivu, they have a set of armor obtained from Duality and by chance used by a team they sent in. And I recall them being in the conversation across the lore tab of the Hoarfrost-Z. I can't help but be curious why they are so prevalent lately...
Given the context of Xivu’s theory about how she operates, the moment that Kelgorath DOES become honed enough through victory AND failure, he’ll be the strongest Hive possible because he was granted the unique chance of learning from his mistakes, compared to most others that don’t.
If Kelgorath has a million fans, I am one of them. If Kelgorath has 5 fans, then I am one of them. If Kelgorath has one fan, then I am him. If Kelgorath has no fans, then I am dead. If the world is against Kelgorath, then i am against the world. Til my last breath, I will support Kelgorath. Aiat.
Kelgoraths resurrection reminds me somewhat of Omnigul back in the day. But being reborn due to him making "war & battle" through becoming a supplicant to Xivu-Arath, he's one of few Hive that we've seen reborn over the years, especially if he doesn't have a bite size chunk of the ascendant plane I definitely like his story, but he's drywall as far as my ghost & I are concerned 🤣
I've got a sinking feeling that Kelgorath will eventually learn from his mistakes and get the success he's been seeking. Who will he end? Idk, but that line about the hammer and chisel doesn't sound good. Xivu might be grooming him to be a formidable guardian killer.
For as loser as he might be hes the hive whos survived the most encounters with guardians without a final death. Even Oryx Only got an extra Life by taking himself and still fell before us
He may grow into a new Taken King once he slays a major ally, like Caiatl for instance. I definetly think we are headed that way. Xivu wants a worthy Hive god on her side and she's helping Kelgorath to speedrun his way through levelling to get there.
He killed a bunch of gardians, and awoken during his assault on the dreaming city but his consistent problem has been specifically our player. It's not that his entirely a pushover in lore, but rather that we as a player, godslayer and chosen protagonist of the story, is well understood as a gigantic ball of death that can run over basically anyone and anything. And I think Xivu is understanding this very well. After all she saw: - Oryx, the taken king, being defeated by his own logic at our hand - Savathun, who's tricks and schemes were not enough to save (well, not entirely at least...) - Rulk, the first disciple and by far the single largest raw power entity of the Witness that we know of, who could boss around the leviathan and the worm gods. - Xol, who may have been a legless noodle in his fight, but is still lore wise an immensely powerful being, who itself recognized he had a better shot bonding to us, as a weapon, to receive his due of destruction. Needless to say it is clear, for all strategy and tactics that Xivu is, not going to commit the same mistakes as her peers. To me it seems that she is willingly creating conflicts for us to partake in, so she can draw power from us directly. By sending kekgorath to murder things and ultimately get slapped by us, she not only tithes form him (and make him stronger) but tithes from us as well (and makes us stronger to continue the cycle). It's well established in Destiny that ideological victory carries just as much impact, if not more, than a physical one. In the ascendant realm even more literally as words and ideas can kill you just as much as any blade.
I personally really like Kelgorath. He is the hive version of taniks. I can imagine those two dancing on a hill together. Love or hate him, he's still one of Xivu Arath's greatest warriors. And nothing will change that. I hope we see more of him in the future.
I mean this wouldn’t be the first time we’ve done what a hive god wanted us to do. I’m sure we all remember the Light level 999 trick, and how Oryx put himself into a gun, and plenty of more tricks that’s worked on us.
@@urazz7739 So far. We’ve beaten two of the three hive gods. Problem is now we fight the Hive god of war, and that’s the problem. Fighting her makes her stronger. This is gonna be tricky.
I really love the idea that basically all the Hive gods have been smart enough to recognise that we have a bad habit of turning things we kill into weapons and have exploited that in one way or another to achieve their own ends. Oryx allowed us to turn him into the Touch of Malice so he could keep living in some form, Savathun put a big shiny glaive piece in front of us knowing we would pick it up because we can't help ourselves and in turn reveal her old memories to herself after she was reborn in the light and now Xivu Arath is like hey massive loser who will absolutely die if I send you out to the Guardians again, I'm gonna give you a very important title to make you feel good about yourself, go out and definitely win against those Guardians this time for me and take this weapon with you, I believe in you!
What's a better army than one that can be re-used to fuel the worms hunger for war? Think about it, maybe Xivu is making Kelgorath into a a better version of Oryx's Warpriest. The best teacher is experience and what better way to experience war than to die in it constantly.
First, Xivu Arath is actually using Kelgorath as a means to help her grow, remember that she is the Hive God of War and our battles against Kelgorath practically feeds her worm. While there are those who see Kelgorath as a failure and a loser (you in particular, Byf, no offense), Xivu Arath sees him as a chess piece, through his failures, she might strategize a way to fight back harder than ever, as she whispered; "As Victory's Hammer Shapes, So Does Failure's Chisel". I believe this is not the last time we've seen Kelgorath, Risen from Bones, in terms of story, because through his failures, Xivu Arath becomes more deadly, through his defeats, her blade becomes sharper. Second, I would like to see a Stasis or Strand Glaive used at some point in Lightfall, would be really cool.
I don't know what hurts more... the fact kelgotath at every chance has failed and has somehow still a massive knight and not dead... Or Byf not holding the shield up when using his melee on the glaive to swing faster and beat your enemies to death. I love glaives, just fun as hell to use. Plus I try and remember the names of named enemies... Kelgotath popped up and makes me laugh because I just imagine him shouting "I'M BAAAACK" and then being killed again. My favourite thus far are the named enemies this season who are named "something-something-of the amonite" from the books of sorrow and the hives conquests.
It's not an outright failure on his part. Either they complete their objective or he dies which further strengthens him when he returns and Xivu as well by consequence.
One thing Byf forgets when it comes to the Hive is that the Hive show their love for one another by killing each other, again and again. Also that so long as a Hive has a Throneworld, they can be killed again and again, so long as they do not perish within their own Throneworld.
The irony of you saying he forgot about Throne Worlds when he mentions Kelgorath might have a small Throne World. Also that “killing each other is love” thing only pertains to the Hive race themselves because they are one massive family with different broods, and killing each other makes them stronger because of their Throne World resurrections. To their enemies(us) it’s just straight up fighting to see who deserves to exist. Though it is worth mentioning that Kelgorath has grown from a normal Knight into a giant one the same size as Xivu Arath’s High Celebrant. So any deaths may make him stronger whether he has a Throne World or someone is resurrecting Kelly repeatedly.
@@sn0wyc0sm0 he's a confirmed ascendant hive so he does have a throneworld. There's even descriptions of it if I'm not mistaken something about trophies of those he killed like dead ghost shells and etc. He's not a push over like Byf is saying cause he has y'know killed other guardians, but to us he's just a another knight to kill.
This also raises an interesting thought.. If Xivu Arath wanted us to have this weapon, it could be something as part of a ritual. Perhaps even the same type of ritual that caused the invasion and subsequent downfall of Torobatl. The giving of the blade to us, binds her to the material world and by using it, we might be falling into a trap. If your theory is correct that we're participating in the ritual of war, then perhaps the blade is acting as a battery that will bring Xivu Arath to Earth charging up as we kill with it. Once it's fully charged, BOOM Xivu Arath shows up on our doorstep with her forces and lays siege to the last city.
I’m disappointed that this video didn’t touch on something revealed in the lore of the glaive: We now know what it means for a Hive to become a “Darkblade.” Old blades are reforged, and then in the hands of their wielders become the infamous axes of the Darkblades. The way that the darkblade axe is described as materializing around the blade in Kelgorath’s hands seems very unique. It seems to be a kind of ritual, considering the Wizard in ceremonial garb, the blood-sigils, and Xivu Arath essentially knighting Kelgorath. Does this mean every darkblade has undergone this ritual to gain the title? It would make sense if a ritual was needed to produce one, considering how many knights in D2 have the appearance of a Darkblade, whereas in D1 it was just Alak-Hul.
Maybe Xivu keeps forgiving Kelgorath because of who's beeting him, at this point the Guardians have proven ourselves formidable, we killed Crota, Nokris, Xol, Oryx and now Savathûn, it's possible that Xivu has some respect for the guardians and doesn't hold losing to us against her servants.
Xivu Arath voice is always depicted as loud as thunder, it's so epic, can't wait to get a fancy cinematic where a giant hive portal opens in the sky and every sounds being muffled by Xivu's thanking us and ending by something like "I AM WAR.", so loud it's difficult to understand, and going full Torobatl on us.
I love what they did here. Kelgorath to many casual players was probably seen as just another miniboss, as we know Bungie will often give a miniboss a name and they turn out to be nothing but something to kill, the problem with this means only those who pay attention to the lore will be able to tell if someone is important, so I can assume many cauals didn't pay mind to Kelgorath's name and simply killed him like any other miniboss. Unless you read the Ripples lorebook entry of him soon enough, hen you'd take notice of hm coming back again and again. As I record the Seasonal story for my Lore Project, I've made it a habit to take notice of miniboss names, so I remembered Kalgorath and got excited seeing hi as the final boss for the Mars Heist, His story is pretty cool, a Knight of the Hidden Swarm who dedicated himself to Savathuun, ony to feel betrayed when she turned on the Darkness, then Xivu Arath finds him and through a ritual makes him her's, she then sends him a few times against us only to die each time. Yet rather then be forgotten she resurrects him this time as a Darkblade and sends him to fight us time and again in Mars Hiest mission as canonically these Heists keep happening many times. He's either being used as a pawn by Xivu, or maybe she did trust him. Either way his story is defined by his failures. I love when Bungie gives small time characters like this story, it makes some of them more then just a named yet meaningless boss to kill, it makes the world of Destiny feel a bit more real. That we can see characters like Alak Hul, Praksis, or Kelgorath return. Which in turn adds depth to the bigger bad. Like we can assume Savathuun purposly had a Ghost revive Alak Hul so he'd protect Oryx's temple, the guy he'd schemed against and was imprisoned for. Or Praksis revived as a Scorn showing Eramis's sorrow. Or Kelgorath, well you already know.
I can't help but think of the lore from Candescent Helm when I see Kelgorath. Although he keeps dying by our hand it's possible he might turn the tide in what little way possible. As Ikora says "Never bet against someone who won't quit".
So fun fact it’s likely that Kelgorath is likely much stronger than we give him credit for, if he has a throne world that’s impressive it’s just the guardian is just too much
He was called death knight by the hive for slaughtering so many. And the risen from bones title comes from his unrelenting nature he doesn't stop after dying her comes back from his throneworld and tries again and again and again. I think Byf just really overestimated him like whats he gonna do? We killed The Taken King why would Xivus death battery of a hive be strong enough to kill us? It seems his purpose is to cause chaos for Xivu for tribute and nothing more.
@@corbingarrison7167 yeah he's not a loser he's just not the strongest hive ever. I mean he's put up more than a fight than people like the scourge of the helium drinkers we fight in the serpah shield mission. I mean his savathun ritual self we fight could wipe not only us but Saint 14 and Mara Sov if we didn't stop him. That's ridiculous and he definitely overlooked that.
@@riskrunner4532 it’s also that knights in general are really powerful we just don’t see it. Wish we could see the enemies of the coalition be shown of how powerful they are
I think the glaive having part of xivu's essence is basically her building a touch of malice lite, that doesn't require her to die like oryx. Us killing enemies with it just siphons more power to her, and I think it's part of how Mara was talking about us playing into xivu's hands
i think it would be cool if we got the first stasis glaive from eramis. she’s not exactly a disciple, but i cant think of a better place for it to come from
Recently made JoG apart of my main loadout and hearing that the giave has the power of xivu, a disciple of the witness, and we use it to mock a hive dork we regular beat up for lunch money make me love JoG even more
Probably the only reason she keeps him around is to keep feeding her with war regardless of the outcome, and since he most have a little throne world he can comeback without a mayor loss so, it's a win, win for her and if for whatever reason he becames deadlier even better for her since he's loyal.
I can see a Calus glaive being Strand type. Season of the Haunted spent a lot of time on egregore and how Calus has been trying to fully integrate his mind into the fungus, and the lore we have on egregore strongly ties it to the psychic web that Strand is supposedly going to be manipulating. It'd fit for his glaive to have that element by association, and if there's going to be Strand weapons then Bungie will need to find places to put them.
About Strand Weapons, it would be weird getting them at the launch of Lightfall. Think about Stasis; the First Stasis weapon we got was an Prototype we stole from House Salvation. Then the first legendary stasis weapons we got came in season of the lost, from the awoken arsenal, who knew about stasis long before us, and i guess from these our Foundrys then made theyr first Stasis weapons in the next season. And that was Stasis, which seems to be the most common Darkness Power out there, which existet in other folks Hands before we found it. Strand is supposedly OUR power, as in we basically invent it, from what the revealstream sayed. So there can not really be an outside source for manufacturing weapons with Strand, we would basically have to invent them ourselfs. So i dont really see us getting Strand weapons early on
The guy get's stronger every time we've killed him so far. I highly doubt him repeatedly fighting us and falling isn't intentional. He's like a Hive Tanniks that isn't hindered by rebuilding himself.
Wait, if Xivu gains power from battles and war, like ANY type of war? Wouldn't Kelgorath losing to us over and over causing battles and conflicts make Xivu Stronger, while we think he's just losing, making him have the last laugh. Xivu could very well know how many times he failed but her objective isn't victory, it's conflicts so as long as she tells Kelgorath what he wants to hear, he'll cause trouble and in turn be tribute for the God of War. Mixed with the glaive, wrathborn, seraph bunker heists, now the death tongue choristers. It seems Xivu is gaining power at a fast pace.
eh, the hive have fed off of untold millenia of war most much larger scale than the humans of the last city. I doubt they're getting measurably more powerful having their asses handed to them across Sol
While that is a great point, judging by the wizards reactions in the lore page, i wonder if that might sow some treason within her ranks, as it seems there are still many hive who prefer Oryx's sword logic, and Kelgorath's survival despite his "failures" are heretical to the logic.
Idk how likely it is, but I am guessing Xivu just might be Lightfall's raid boss. I feel like Calus might be be dealt with in the main story, like Sava was.
I dunno, I think it’s more likely we’d fight her in The Final Shape, either in the campaign or the raid. If we take out Calus in Lightfall and Xivu Arath as well, that leaves the Witness with no army. And I don’t really expect Bungie to give him his own unique army
She barely has any in game presence and you want to throw her away like right away? Nah not only does that completely limit the witnesses armies but it just seems wasteful to kill her instantly in a raid unlike Oryx and Savathun who had campaigns and then a raid (if your Oryx)
@@redautobotsoldier3812 Rhulk had no prior presence or lore at all until the raid and was more perfect for a one off raid boss. Xivu has been a thing forever in the lore and doesn't quite fit Rhulks one off nature.
@@redautobotsoldier3812 and really Rhulk wasn't thrown away, he didn't exist until then and he served his purpose to hype up the witness and establish disciples. Xivu would need more room to be built up as not only the last hive god but the witnesses right hand currently.
I just realized how close you were to 1mil. Love your channel, hope you get there. I got into destiny a few years ago, with no idea what was happening. One 4 hour lore recap later, and I was hooked.
I think the reason that the hive are ao hyped about him is he is the only hove we have had to kill more than once. Think about it the last time we killed anything a second time was taniks and he turned into a raid boss. Surely this is inspirational for any aspiring acolyte.
If Xivu's expecting us to wield Kelgorath's blade, then she'll probably be disappointed in me cus that thing's collecting dust in my vault in favor of more shotguns.
I feel like Kelgorath is a tool by wich Xivu Arath can not only study us but also use us for her benefit, the same way Savathun did with Dul Incaru and Zulmak. That's just my theory though.
That final moment before the Guardian puts Kelgorath down again and steals the weapon his war-god gave him: [freeze frame, excruciatingly slow close-in, "Frolic (Theme from Curb Your Enthusiasm)" playing in the background]
Toland’s Throne world was kinda awesome with the crow head though, and hell, the mindbender had at least some menace to his presence. Kelgorath’s throne world probably looks like that small asteroid out in the middle of space where we talked to Eramis.
You know a villain is bad when you hear Byf go with "How many times do we have to teach you this lesson old man!?" memes. I think I saw a GotG2 reference with the taserface meme about Kelgorath.
I was seriously surprised you don’t have a million subs yet, I don’t even play destiny much anymore because I can’t afford thirty dlcs a week but I still love your videos
Something I really want to know is what happened to all the old Cabal legions and fallen houses. There used to be kings, winter, wolves, Devils. Siege dancers, dust giants, sand eaters and the status of the empire in destiny 1 times. Plz cover this byf 🙂🙂
The D1 Houses gave up their banners and came together to form House Dusk, a catch-all term considering there isn't really a Dusk Kell. The Cabal scout legions on Mars almost got wiped out by the Guardians and mostly Oryx. Any survivors either joined up with the Red Legion or went their own ways.
I am reasonably certain that the final shape will end up being the player guardian using all six elements. Its certainly possible that the witness and his disciples are actively operating to shape us into a powerful combatant.
my theory is that the witness is less concerned with winning the war of light and dark but rather achieving the final shape, if this universe's ultimate life form is a being that can die but never truly end then the witness will seek to bring that life form into being whose is either a guardian or ascendant. it explains why someone like Kelgorath can die over and over again yet is allowed to continue or even be blessed by a war god which is abnormal for the Hive, a race that isn't known for tolerating failure. Oryx had a plan to turn himself into a weapon if he died, so he could continue to feed the sword logic. he was a being that died but continued to exist in a way.
I remember him because he was the first boss I fought when i cam back to destiny. You know how the game enters you into the current story event at the start of the season? Last time I played was during Shadowkeep and all my gear was sunseted. I was severely underleveled. Was solo and took so long to deal with him.
I'm partial to the theory that Kelgorath is secretly sleeping with Xivu, and that's why he keeps getting second chances. He's not actually a great warrior so much as he is a cute piece of arm candy for the God of War, possibly for her to look more impressive next to. It's that or she just finds it funny to watch him fail.
Bro, Kelgorath needs a break We beat him in Lost We beat him in Seraph after he got risen from Bones And we’re gonna beat him AGAIN in Deep after he’s been Taken by War
If a wimp like kelgorath has a throne world, and we’ve killed anywhere between two and eight gods, depending on your definition of god, I wonder how big our throne world is
The thing about the glaives really intrigues me. I imagine once we collect each Disciple's representative glaive, there will be some large machine we insert them all into to unlock or Voltron them into the strongest glaive ever
To be fair, most of the time he's been facing the player, and the list of hive who have managed to survive an encounter with the player is probably in the single digits.
Just a thought: Like Sivu is sposta be this tactical savant right? but time and time again its like, shes not actually doing that. sending small forces when a army would win, sending a known failure with a weapon that contains her essence. What if: She realizes just how screwed she is, like she knows, that no matter what the witness does, we are going to win eventually. But shes so bound to him, that she has to do everything she can to win. These "small oversights" could very well be her doing things by way of omission to ensure we will win in the end, and maybe offer her a chance at escape as the witness falls? Send us a failed warrior to "deliver" a weapon driven by her power? overlook a weak spot and not reinforce it "enough" Makes ya wonder...
Kelgorath getting resurrected over and over again is like reviving the same dumb teammate that keeps dying to the laser traps in heist battlegrounds. He exists only for our and Xivu's amusement.
Not Xivu's amusement as she genuinely wants him to get better in the glaive she basically demotes him to darkblade and tells him to try again and get better. She's basically the Shaxx of the hive.
Speaking of glaives, I really hope we get the tormentor's glaive, maybe as an exotic. Supposedly tormentors are strong enemies and lesser disciples, so having an exotic glaive that translates the sword logic into gameplay would be pretty cool.
I think that we will keep bumping into him as he tries to win Xivu's respect and eventually he will succeed and kill off one of our major allies. And that will turn him into Oryx sized commander of Xivu's forces and she may crown him a new Taken King.
The amount of times we've beaten him and he's come back later to get beaten again, I genuinely have to ask: do you think Kelgorath is the Deathless Knight from Titan? That Knight was originally in servitude of Savathun, helping to conduct her death rituals. I think it's a good question, and it could definitely make sense as to how he keeps coming back.
I like to imagine that instead of having a throne world, Kelgorath has a Throne Apartment
A throne closet

Rasputin could very well become stronger with Neomuna’s nanotechnology to upgrade himself however.

after all, lets not forget that the lore master was wrong about uldren becoming a guardian let alone cayde's potential replacement so i wouldnt be surprised if this new darkblade puts his deep in the ground for his many defeats! or at the least, take someone important to us!
Taking us down would allow her to end and be the victor of longest war in the universe between light and dark

a fair argument.

@@ASpaceOstrich We've also killed Hive 100 times as powerful, so it's just picking a fight with someone he's doomed to lose to
an interesting idea. and it makes some sense. hmm. I must meditate on this matter.
That and I wouldn't be surprised if she has a sense of humor sees him as the meme we see him as and keeps him around for that reason.

He's presumably already killed a bunch of Guardians.
He has sucessfully killed a handful guardians already if I remember correctly
He killed a bunch of gardians, and awoken during his assault on the dreaming city but his consistent problem has been specifically our player.
It's not that his entirely a pushover in lore, but rather that we as a player, godslayer and chosen protagonist of the story, is well understood as a gigantic ball of death that can run over basically anyone and anything. And I think Xivu is understanding this very well. After all she saw:
- Oryx, the taken king, being defeated by his own logic at our hand
- Savathun, who's tricks and schemes were not enough to save (well, not entirely at least...)
- Rulk, the first disciple and by far the single largest raw power entity of the Witness that we know of, who could boss around the leviathan and the worm gods.

999 light level was one helluva whiplash, and the message came after that too
It may work to keep them alive and empower them but it doesn't help them enough to beat us.
Fully expecting a Xivu Arath raid with Kelgorath as a Warpriest-esque encounter
Edge of tomorrow wants its plot back lol
I'd love a stasis glaive to free up that energy weapon slot
Kelgorath is like a whetstone. Even the simple act of sharpening means the blade loses to the whetstone, until it’s sharp enough to damage the stone
Either they complete their objective or he dies which further strengthens him when he returns and Xivu as well by consequence.
the same hive who wiped the ammonite off the universe were killed by guardians, with mere grenades.
One thing Byf forgets when it comes to the Hive is that the Hive show their love for one another by killing each other, again and again. Also that so long as a Hive has a Throneworld, they can be killed again and again, so long as they do not perish within their own Throneworld.
So to end Kelgorath from being a Destiny Starscream, we need to go to his home and end him there correct?

“Kelgorath, Guardian punching bag”

Byff bullying Kelgorath is one of the funnniest things in Destiny I can think of
I love the glaive. Incandescent on it makes it feel really powerful like a Glaive's shot should.
The absolute meme that the title of “darkblade” has become is amazing
"He's failed so often and so spectacularly, it *has* to be Xivu Arath's plan somehow." - Byf, essentially
Also Oryx didn't build the Dreadnought with the chisel of Savathun. The passage exactly says the hammer of Xivu Arath, and the *scalpel* of Savathun.
I wish there was a heavy frame sword with the design of the darkblade axe, that would be so cool
Honestly, mad respect for my boy Kelgorath. He finally made himself a challenge this season. That axe hits like a truck.

I think I saw a GotG2 reference with the taserface meme about Kelgorath.
I was seriously surprised you don’t have a million subs yet, I don’t even play destiny much anymore because I can’t afford thirty dlcs a week but I still love your videos
Big love 😊❤🎉 Thanks for always keeping us up with the lore Byf! BEEN WATCHING YOU SINCE THE RED DEATH VIDEO!
@@thecrimsoncommando3875 ah fair enough
I would imagine in an epic arena when he sees us approaching, he just moved aside and sit in sadness then point the direction where Xivu was
Your voice is so soothing, if there was a 24h complication of your videos, I’d sleep to that. Keep it up.
I think at this point Xivu Arath is just amused by sending Kelgorath again and again and watching him wind up in his Throneworld every single time.
I'd love to see the Hive spawn above us only for Rasputine to spawncamp them.
I am reasonably certain that the final shape will end up being the player guardian using all six elements. Its certainly possible that the witness and his disciples are actively operating to shape us into a powerful combatant.
I mean it seems pretty certain, at least to me, that the 6th element is going to be Resonance, right?
my theory is that the witness is less concerned with winning the war of light and dark but rather achieving the final shape, if this universe's ultimate life form is a being that can die but never truly end then the witness will seek to bring that life form into being whose is either a guardian or ascendant. it explains why someone like Kelgorath can die over and over again yet is allowed to continue or even be blessed by a war god which is abnormal for the Hive, a race that isn't known for tolerating failure.
Oryx had a plan to turn himself into a weapon if he died, so he could continue to feed the sword logic. he was a being that died but continued to exist in a way.
Kelgorath is just amazing at clutching in the Gulag
I remember him because he was the first boss I fought when i cam back to destiny. You know how the game enters you into the current story event at the start of the season? Last time I played was during Shadowkeep and all my gear was sunseted. I was severely underleveled. Was solo and took so long to deal with him.

I like that Byf almost laughed about calling Kelgorath a loser.
TBF he's still around, which is more than can be said for certain other named Hive we've run in to a time or two.
At this point I am sure Kelgorath got a Throne World as he keeps coming back!
For some reason I throught Kelgorath was this Giant Knight from the Season of the Hunt Seasonal Mission
The High Celebrant? Yeah I got them confused for a while too lmao
@@Nadiki yeah, poor guy didn't even have a name for us to be able to tell him apart
11:47 -Khorne- *Xivu Arath* cares not from where the -blood- *war* flows, as long as it flows.
-BLOOD- *WAR* FOR THE -BLOOD- *WAR* GOD
This is the glaive that got me into using glaives, the one I'm using has got incandescent on it. Fun stuff.
Everytime I see him now it’s just “Oh hey Kelgorath! Back again?”
Bro, Kelgorath needs a break
We beat him in Lost
We beat him in Seraph after he got risen from Bones
And we’re gonna beat him AGAIN in Deep after he’s been Taken by War
It seems like in the NPA armor lore kelgorath was eaten by ahsa.
Inb4 kelgorath becomes a lucent hive guardian
If a wimp like kelgorath has a throne world, and we’ve killed anywhere between two and eight gods, depending on your definition of god, I wonder how big our throne world is
Me: Mum, can I have Taniks?
Mum: No, we have Taniks at home:
Taniks at home: Kelgorath
I love glaives and the lore to glaives, it’s the stuff you’d see from an exotic not an entire weapon type!
The thing about the glaives really intrigues me. I imagine once we collect each Disciple's representative glaive, there will be some large machine we insert them all into to unlock or Voltron them into the strongest glaive ever
I love listening to these videos while I work
To be fair, most of the time he's been facing the player, and the list of hive who have managed to survive an encounter with the player is probably in the single digits.
Send us a failed warrior to "deliver" a weapon driven by her power? overlook a weak spot and not reinforce it "enough"
Makes ya wonder...
Supposedly tormentors are strong enemies and lesser disciples, so having an exotic glaive that translates the sword logic into gameplay would be pretty cool.
dude just has a really good benefits package
actually i wonder what the benefits package is from xivu arath's army, it must be pretty damn good
The size of washer that Glaive on our guardian is ridiculous lol
I think that we will keep bumping into him as he tries to win Xivu's respect and eventually he will succeed and kill off one of our major allies. And that will turn him into Oryx sized commander of Xivu's forces and she may crown him a new Taken King.
The amount of times we've beaten him and he's come back later to get beaten again, I genuinely have to ask: do you think Kelgorath is the Deathless Knight from Titan? That Knight was originally in servitude of Savathun, helping to conduct her death rituals. I think it's a good question, and it could definitely make sense as to how he keeps coming back.
