This gave me a thought......as a viewer i loved how you made it work. I think instead of you purchasing blocks off eBay, maybe have your viewers send you a block or two and we can watch you make a quilt all from your viewers.
Hi Kate! Fancy meeting you here on my side of the pond! 🤣🤣 I can see you doing some hand work while on the LGS with a fresh cupca and Cat Rita contentedly purring somewhere close by. Next time I will make sure to bring some Snickerdoodles with me while watching a creative genius Davatize another stunning art work!! XX Laura from KY💙🧵🪡
Another fabulous Davitized quilt! I love the way you just GO FOR IT! I could see myself getting stuck trying to decide how to put them together. But, one of my own "rules" is if none of the colors go together, they ALL go together! But I do think I would like to be more like you Dave! 🎉
This is charming as all get out! You created a cohesive whole out of very disparate parts and that's a unique talent! I LOVE the end result...it is endlessly fascinating to look at all the different parts. You have given honor and respect to women from the past in the making of this quilt. Thank you for sharing your process!
STUNNING!!! I get so happy when i hear "GREETINGS, ALL!" because I know I'm going to see something smart, fun, new, and stunning by the end of the video.
So true! What a joy to watch Dave come up with new ideas for each quilt! This particular quilt demonstrates that we can make a wonky square out of a straight one, not to respect the accuracy too much, the result is stunning!
When I moved far from home (1975), I was dirt poor. I tried piecing some blocks with needle and thread. No sewing machine, no iron. My pieces would never lay flat, I never finished a project, but I enjoyed the process. It’s wonderful to see you turn these orphans into a quilt. Bravo.❤ Now that I’m retired, I turn out a quilt every 4 to 6 weeks. It makes me very happy. I really enjoy your channel.
I really appreciate how you took the “ugly” blocks and grouped them together. I would have tried to spread them out to hide them but your strategy works so much better! Beautiful work.
I am so proud of you for giving life to these blocks that many people spent hours making and intending to make into a quilt one day but were unable to. They would be so proud of you.
Well done, Dave. I appreciated how you respected the work of others that may not be fashionable today. Also - even with modern tools - sometimes my blocks don’t lay flat!
Fearless!! Add something, hack it off, move it over, trim till it fits regardless of original piecing. REsult is exciting and wonderful )))) We laugh in specific direction of quilt police. hahahahaha
When you showed us the eclectic collection of unpromising blocks you had bought I thought "Dave what have you done" but once again you made magic! Well done and a fitting tribute to all those quilters who went before us.
That probably was not a sharpie marker used on a friendship quilt block but it might have been "tube painted". As a child, I remember that roller ball point paint tubes began to be used instead of embroidery. 😊 We love your channel, Dave! ❤
The block you love looks like the Vintage Sunburst block that Fat Quarter Shop has foundation papers for, I think, 2 sizes. Hope this helps. Love your videos!
We always called them Orphan Blocks. I love working Orphan locks into Crazy Quilts. Yes. I cut the Orphan blocks to fit them in. That is called a Classic Pin Wheel. My Sewing Room dropped a video today showing us how to cut and sew the fabric pieces together (much easier than I thought it would be). It should be listed as, Today's Quilt Block - Beautiful Pin Wheel - Simple Sewing. Wow! Your quilt is beautiful, and very interesting. Thank you.
Oh my gosh! You just sewed the binding down without pressing it in half. What a great AND effective way to save a step! I love that you saved those blocks from the landfill. Nice job Dave!
I like it. It reminds me of a rambling country garden. A big old flowery mess, but it works and pleases the eye. I never know what to expect from you, except perhaps the unexpected. 😊
Awww Dave you didn’t let “Bertie Go Bye Bye”. 😉 I love how you took these basically reject blocks from someone and turned them into a Davatized wonder!! I’m also glad you did a “Regular Binding” that would have actually been done back when these blocks were initially made. Always excited to see a new video from you every other Tuesday. Keep cranking out the always creative, never disappointing, stunning videos!! Will be here waiting to see true creativity at it’s finest!!💙💙🪡🧵
Once again... Brilliant! I just picked up some orphan blocks at an estate sale. Sometimes the blocks are just waiting for someone to find them and use them to make something beautiful. Thanks Dave!
This video really showcases your fearless ingenuity, and you've produced yet another masterpiece! The linear quilting really brings out the best in the blocks, creating a truly stunning effect.
Love the concept. I often rescue quilt blocks, and flimsies at local donation shops, and give them a new life and often end up donating them to local charities.
I honestly had doubts that even you, the Quilt Master Creative Supreme, could Davify these blocks. I was wrong! So clever to cut those red yellow blue blocks into wonkies. May I also say that you were so wise to start your channel with a supply of already finished videos - I could not possibly go 2 weeks waiting for new content. Well. I will at some point have to, but then I can just start rewatching ❤😂🎉
I really like this. Especially how you put like blocks together. I would have tried to randomize like blocks throughout the quilt, but I think your way looks better. 👍
Great job Dave! What an amazing way to re-fashion something that could potentially become landfill. You know what would be so funny - if one of the names in the quilt ended up watching your video lol. Thank you
Love your quilt. As for the pinwheel block you liked, I just saw a UA-cam video just yesterday on making one and saved the link for a project of my own. This one only has 8 fabrics but it will give you an idea of how to make one. The channel is "My Sewing Room" and the episode is "Today's Quilt Block - Beautiful Pin Wheel - simple sewing".
Hi there Dave, what a fabulous job you have done ! I loved how these pieces of History have been saved from Landfill. I think this would make in interesting quilt to display on one of your Morning Television shows, and put a shout out to any Family members who can shed some light on who these beautiful ladies were. I am sure I am not the only subscriber bursting with Curiosity ! Lots of love from Torbay, North Shore, Auckland, New Zealand. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️😇😇😇😇😇😇
The women (?) who made these blocks initially likely never imagined they would be honoured by your imagination. They live on :)
This gave me a thought......as a viewer i loved how you made it work. I think instead of you purchasing blocks off eBay, maybe have your viewers send you a block or two and we can watch you make a quilt all from your viewers.
I'd send!
I’m so in for this!!!!
I'd definitely send one! I have some ridiculous fabric that would totally go in a Davatized quilt. Lol
A community quilt. Love it
I wonder how you would Davitize 15,000 blocks. Lets face it-- everyone will send you a block. I guess we could send you mini-blocks. 😂❤
Birdie would be so proud to be in this quilt - twice!!! great job! x Kate
Agreed. Hi Kate!
Birdie, forever!

You and Dave are my favourite channels to watch for creativity! Hello Kate! ❤
Another fabulous Davitized quilt! I love the way you just GO FOR IT! I could see myself getting stuck trying to decide how to put them together. But, one of my own "rules" is if none of the colors go together, they ALL go together! But I do think I would like to be more like you Dave! 🎉
I googled Birdies name and quickly found an obit for a woman that passed in 2022. Sewing was listed in her obituary.

I would name this quilt “Birdie and friends” 😂 As always, this quilt is stunning! Thanks for sharing!
What a wonderful idea 😊❤😊
It's beautiful!! 😍 Now the long lost blocks by a proud quilter have a home. Thank you and don't forget a label!!
Holy crap….it’s quilt voodo magic❤
I can’t believe that this odd job assortment of blocks worked as well as they did in the final quilt……you are the master of quilting!
This made me heart happy.
Dave I don’t know how you do that every time but you always knock it out of the park!
That pinwheel block is unbelievably beautiful. I'd love to see a video of you Davetizing a quilt of them with your own scraps :)
When I moved far from home (1975), I was dirt poor. I tried piecing some blocks with needle and thread. No sewing machine, no iron. My pieces would never lay flat, I never finished a project, but I enjoyed the process.
It’s wonderful to see you turn these orphans into a quilt. Bravo.❤
Now that I’m retired, I turn out a quilt every 4 to 6 weeks. It makes me very happy. I really enjoy your channel.
I love that you kept the ladies' names on the blocks and didn't cover them
This quilt is like a great country potluck.
So pleased you found room for birdy 😂❤
I am in awe of your creativity. I never miss one of your programs.😮😊
Wow! A bit of Americana saved! Good for you for giving these old orphan blocks a new lease on life!
With every video the moustache grows ever more majestic. Love you making these UFO quilts!
All are gorgeous vintage blocks! So happy you are giving them new life.
So glad Birdie got a spot in teh quilt 😁
Nailed it!❤
This quilt looks so good . Its a imaginative use of something that alot of people find useless. 😊
I do this and sometimes i get a ton of fabric with it. I call them SEPs (like from the Douglas Adams books) But that is Someone Else's Projects
That is talent... To wrangle together all different sizes. Great job Dave! You never give up. Love ya!
Your design wall is one of your biggest assets. Makes these videos so interesting and your final layout sensical.
What a truly awesome quilt. All the hands involved in the making. Thank you for making this in honor of those who had orphans.
Well done, Dave. I appreciated how you respected the work of others that may not be fashionable today.
Also - even with modern tools - sometimes my blocks don’t lay flat!
That's a good job bet the ladies are smiling
Fearless!! Add something, hack it off, move it over, trim till it fits regardless of original piecing. REsult is exciting and wonderful )))) We laugh in specific direction of quilt police. hahahahaha
Yes! I love this method, for years I’ve tried to figure out the math for the weird pieces needed! Why was I making it so hard?!?!?!🤷♀️🙄😅❤
At the beginning, I was thinking, these don't go together. It turned out lovely. Should never have doubted you. Thanks for sharing
Dave you have got to be one of the greatest quilters I have ever seen! I can’t imagine anyone else who would be able to do that! It looks great!
Thank you for using those blocks - it honours the original sewists and gives them a whole new lease of life. Bravo 👏
When you showed us the eclectic collection of unpromising blocks you had bought I thought "Dave what have you done" but once again you made magic! Well done and a fitting tribute to all those quilters who went before us.

The block you love looks like the Vintage Sunburst block that Fat Quarter Shop has foundation papers for, I think, 2 sizes. Hope this helps. Love your videos!
An interesting challenge that turned out wonderfully! You’re a master of making different sizes of blocks cohesive.
I appreciate your innate sense of design and color. A true artist :) Enjoyed watching you create :)
That block might be a type of dresden block
little treasures!

I'm glad you gave some old blocks a new life. Well done.
Love the way you just go for it Dave. The quilt is wonderful.
Dave, someone gave me an old shoebox with tiny! hexi flowers. I appliqued them onto blocks. It's really special to me
I think you are so creative to take a bunch of random blocks and make a beautiful quilt. Thank you for sharing, you are so inspiring!
The Birdie Caudell quilt! 😂❤. I wonder if she or a relative will see this! Or relatives of any of these names. How cool would that be?!?
Oh my gosh! You just sewed the binding down without pressing it in half. What a great AND effective way to save a step! I love that you saved those blocks from the landfill. Nice job Dave!
Wowzah! The red-yellow-blue blocks make me think of maritime signal flags.
I like it. It reminds me of a rambling country garden. A big old flowery mess, but it works and pleases the eye. I never know what to expect from you, except perhaps the unexpected. 😊
I really like this one. The binding looks so good. What a fun video this one was today, I liked very much thank you.
Love how you gave the blocks a new life! I have lots of orpan blocks that were donated for charity quilts. You inspire me!! Another Davitize success!!
Wow Dave you sure do like a challenge. Your videos are becoming a great series of ideas for the rest of us.
I think the block you especially liked is called a sunburst. There is fpp for it these days.
Lori Holt has "vintage sunburst foundation paper" to make that round pinwheel looking block. Love your videos!
Once again... Brilliant! I just picked up some orphan blocks at an estate sale. Sometimes the blocks are just waiting for someone to find them and use them to make something beautiful. Thanks Dave!
Thank you for saving the orphan blocks, the quilt turned out beautiful!
You have such a good eye for putting the squares together. Very cozy video!!
Confucions reigns. Brilliant. You have an open mind. Love it.❤
She needs a name that matches her stunningness. Well done AGAIN!
I vote for a name being "Birdie and her ladies" or "Birdies quilt"
I'm so glad Birdie's blocks made it in the mix..lol. I bet she was a hoot!
Loving these UFO type quilts! Have so many blocks with no home.
I think Lori Holt may have some foundation paper to do those twelve armed pinwheels. It may have been fat quarter shop I saw them on recently.
I love how you saved all these blocks. What a great quilt.
Love this style of quilt. So rando, so perfectly gorgeous!
I love your work, Dave. You are an awesome quilter.!
This turned out great. Love the way how you deal with blocks. Its fun.
ua-cam.com/video/IucdhjDjY3c/v-deo.htmlsi=_08AC33WauFcEsFF. This is a different way to sew the pinwheel Block.
Stunning! I wonder if anyone will recognise these names, I do hope so. ❤👍from Somerset UK
MY FAVORITE QUILTING VLOG. LOVING IT!
Wow! I really liked this video.
That looks amazing Dave! You’re fabulous! ❤️❤️❤️
Love how it all came together ❤
I see Birdie ‘s block made it in twice. I have a top with signature blocks from 1934 , it must have been a thing maybe for a hope chest.
Beautiful
What a FANTASTIC quilt! I love this, love love love this!!!! ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Impressive job!! Quilt looks great!! You are very talented!!!
I honestly had doubts that even you, the Quilt Master Creative Supreme, could Davify these blocks. I was wrong! So clever to cut those red yellow blue blocks into wonkies. The quilt looks stunning. You have done those vintage blocks and the maker proud. Cheers from Australia 💖
So inspiring! Thanks for reminding me I have a bag of orphan blocks I picked up at the thrift store.
The block you were asking about is the sunburst block. Fat Quarter Shop has paper piecing pads to create the block.
Just today, a quilter posted how to piece this block, unbelievable timing!
ua-cam.com/video/IucdhjDjY3c/v-deo.htmlsi=5EYpsdeQ6YerSLgt
This quilt came out beautifully!!!! It looks like a cohesive sampler, which it is but with ”less” work. Great job and creativity. ❤
Great quilt - and your design wall is such a helpful tool - I need one of those in my craft room!
I’d call it the cat lady quilt cause you rescued a bunch of strays
I really like this. Especially how you put like blocks together. I would have tried to randomize like blocks throughout the quilt, but I think your way looks better. 👍
Great job Dave! What an amazing way to re-fashion something that could potentially become landfill. You know what would be so funny - if one of the names in the quilt ended up watching your video lol. Thank you
I love your channel❤

My guild would love this! Several members rescue quilt blocks and quilts from antique stores. Your quilt would be right at home with many of ours.
I love how you put it together
Stunning!
Machine quilting is a workout!
That is coocoo for cocopuffs and i love it
Hi there Dave, what a fabulous job you have done ! I loved how these pieces of History have been saved from Landfill. Fabulous!! So beautiful, from disjointed pieces! Love it!
Oh wow! Love these blocks. Check Lori Holt foundation paper piecing patterns - she has a pattern that matches that pinwheel.
