i love how hes like "lets see if i can hit anything today" meanwhile hes one of the most accurate dudes with and iron sighted shotgun out there.. lol good video hickok.
This dude is a badass. He's obviously shot a unimaginable number of rounds in his life. I want him on my team during an apocalypse. He'll probably kill everything around me before I even get the safety off 😂
I believe he was actually a reserve deputy for a little while, not a detective, but I'm not 100% on that. He actually retired from teaching last year, so now he just does UA-cam, but yes, he is a great shooter. I would say that's a result of all the competition shooting he has done over the years along with having a range in his backyard. :) Have a good one.
Sir, I can't tell you how much I enjoy your videos. At 64 I don't get out shooting very often like I used too, but I really have fun watching you have fun shooting. Add the interesting things I learn from you, and your videos have it all . Thanks for taking the time to do these, and keep me coming. GOD Bless!
As a Cop I prefer and always used the 870 ..pump of course. I prefer the 870 all around and the best reason for having a pump action is that the SOUND of the action working....that a real attention getter and a warning. Universally understood. That sound has saved the life of at least 4 people I can think of off the top of my head that decided to cease and desist their activity upon hearing me rack that action. All of the negatives mentioned about the pump I have never encountered in a real life situation.
+CyberKnife Good point. And I agree with you how the sound of the action could definitely work in one's favor and actually prevent having to work the action of that other device, the trigger. It's conventional wisdom these days to reprimand people and treat them as idiots when they talk about using the ominous sound of the slide action as a "warning"; however, I can imagine times when it would be EXACTLY the "tactical" thing to do. Sometimes people get all caught up in witty-sounding lines they hear from popular "super trainers" and just parrot them over and over on the Internet. Often it's likely a specific situation the "super trainer" was addressing and not offering advice for ALL situations. There is no "one size fits all" in this world.
I can't put enough emphasis on how many times racking the action of an 870 has helped me on the job. One time ...two guys fighting...trying to stab each other with kitchen knives...totally ignoring me and my yelled verbal commands.....when I yell "Last Warning" and they hear that in combo with the Action rack....their brains hear that...and pay attention. I can think of other scenarios too. A female at home...hears a burglar in the next room. A woman's voice saying "go away"...vs no sound but the action racking on a shotty....which to you think gets them running faster? People who have not been in gun fights or on the brink of them really don't know its value...psychologically...
+CyberKnife I respect your opinion as a police officer and yes the 870 would probably be the ideal choice in a law enforcement scenario. However for the homeowner, there are some other things to consider. Most homeowners do not have time or easy access to an open gun range to hone their shooting skills. Also the sound of pumping to load a shotgun can have a negative effect as well. It signals to the unwanted intruder your exact location within the house. And to add on another item, is the fear factor itself for those unaccustomed to being in a lethal situation. For the homeowner I would recommend the semi auto. It loads the next round without having to think or react in a highly volatile situation.
Bill Baumiester Yea..I agree. You always have to account for experience in handling firearms. I actually find my ROF decrease when I first shoot a semi auto shotty. Takes me awhile to adjust my muscle memory the fist few shells and I find myself almost tugging on the fore grip to try to load a shell. I have also been in situations where I had my Police 870 in a "car ready condition" safety on, mag tube full, chamber empty. Realized I had to load a round in a quiet dark warehouse to get the "drop" on a bad guy I had him spotted before he had spotted me. Having has so much experience with it I was still able to slowly load a round working the action and the more challenging ..flipping the safety off. For that I cupped the area with my hands and body to "silence" the click and it totally worked. Don't know why that came to mind on your comments. I totally agree with you that the weapon has to be properly matched to the shooter. If that had been a Mossy pump or something I was unfamiliar with I doubt I would have even attempted it.
The most common mistake I see with people trying to run a pump action gun is that they're afraid of breaking it. Best way to run a pump action gun (or a bolt action gun if that's what you have) is to work it like it owes you some serious money. If it breaks in practice, consider another design. If it works, then learn the gun and its quirks.
Pump for home defense. They are not ammo sensitive and in the event you do get a jam it's much easier to clear. I will say that a Mossberg is marginally better for reliability, I know a lot of people like Remingtons and they are decent but the Mossberg has an open shell port for the magazine during a high stress situation and it has dual extractors on the bolt to get a secure grip on the shell.
I always thought because i have a 12 guage(mossberg 500) i was safe... Until i actually had to use it. I was a victim of a home invasion and the assailants had knives and l wasn't able to reach my gun until they ran out of my apartment. When my situation occured i was outnumbered 3-1 and had no idea if they had other weapons but when they left my apartment i grabbed my gun and chased after them and shot at them when they were driving off. I know i was in the wrong at that point but i didnt face charges because the cops were on my side luckily. Anyways, when i made the decision to shoot i completely forgot to pump and after the first shot I must have pulled the trigger 2-3 times before realising i needed to pump. Its not that i didnt know how the gun worked, i grew up hunting and have shot several 12 guages both, pump and semi, and had well over 500 rounds through that gun(i had it maybe 6 months at the time). My mind was going 1,000,000mph. You cant buy that kind of experience! I cant explain the adrenalin i was experiencing let alone cant imagine what i would have been experiencing had they actually been shooting back! Point being just because i thought i had decent experience with a 12 guage wasnt enough when the time came. And thats why im in the market for a semi-auto. I NEVER want to be in that situation again but if i ever am i want to be prepared!
+Rob J I'm sorry to hear about you experience. I've had many knives pulled on me, and I know that surge of adrenaline that makes you forget your basics all too well.
+Rob J ..I was held up when I was the manager of a shoe store . I remember everything went into slo-motion when the perp lifted up his shirt to show me his gun. I was saying in my mind, make sure he doesn't shoot !! I will get a P226 and a revolver for home defense....along with a semi-auto shotgun !!
I think the chance of messing up the pump due the high amount of adrenaline while in the middle of a gunfight is much higher than the chances of a semi auto having a malfunction.
Actually, no. It depends on ammunition and the quality of semi auto. Many semi auto shotguns will fail to eject or fail to feed if you don't run high velocity ammo or if using old paper shell ammo. Magazine fed bullpup models will sometimes have magazine failures too. Slam the pump back hard and you shouldn't have a failure.
I own the same model 12 gauge pump shotgun (Mossberg 590A1) with the 8+1 shell capacity. I also own a 12 gauge Remington 11-87 semiautomatic shotgun with 4+1 capacity and an 18.5 inch barrel. Initially, I designated the Mossberg as the home defense weapon because (1) it was what I trained with in the Marine Corps, (2) it had a greater shell capacity of nine shells versus that for the Remington and (3) I simply had shot it more frequently and felt very comfortable working the pump action. After much thought, practice at the range with literally several hundreds of shells shot through both shotguns, and discussions with friends of mine (one a Navy SEAL and the other on the FBI's HRT), I've switched and made the Remington 11-87 my primary home defense shotgun (I should add that the Mossberg is kept loaded but with no round chambered in my closet.). That's not to say that the Remington will always be the better choice for others and everyone should decide based on their tactical situation and what works best for them. I live in a fairly small apartment on the fourth floor in San Francisco. No one is getting into this place without coming through either the locked front door of my apartment or the fire escape ladder outside my bedroom window. Either ingress route is going to be noisy and give me adequate time to grab my firearm and take a position to "greet" any intruders. Given the limited avenues of approach, I can be sure of covering either route from my bedroom with either firearm with some semblance of concealment. I've little doubt that one or two 12 gauge shells with 00 buck delivered at no farther distance than 7 yards (and more likely less than 5 yards) will stop any attack even by multiple assailants. As my two friends reminded me, 90% of break-ins are by people who think no one is home, even though there may in fact be someone in the home in question. Occasionally, some of the tougher and meaner characters will attempt a break-in but only if they think the home owner is unarmed. Once an armed home owner enters in the tactical picture, ALL the criminals go looking for easier targets. They're simply not interested in getting into a fire fight due to the risk of death of injury, as well as the fact that once shots are fired cops will be involved in short order. I also have a stock sock with 7 additional rounds in it and have repeatedly drilled under timed conditions how to shoot 4 shells, then reload while the fifth and final round is still in the chamber. It all comes down to what you shoot best with and practice on a regular basis. As for those who argue that racking the shotgun will make assailants leave, sometimes that it is true and that can be enough (see the police officer's comment below). But sometimes that does not happen, as my FBI buddy noted to me. Not every criminal knows what a pump shotgun racking and loading a shell sounds like, and some are so stupid they will still linger in the home even when you yell out that you are awake, are armed and have called the police. So one needs to be prepared for the dumber element that forces you to shoot.
hickok45 you are the best. Im in the market for new shotgun primarily for home defense and once again your video helped a lot. I'm going with Benelli Supernova Tactical pump. Short barrel for the house and fun at the range. I'll save the semi auto shotgun with longer barrel for my field rifle to bird hunt. Use the right tool for the right job and keep it simple.
y'know what's funny about these videos? the birds, chirping in the background. After he fires off a couple rounds they seem unfazed and continue to pleasantly chirp. if i did that near my house crows and vultures would be squawking in a panic
The trap range I go to on Maui has a bunch of ducks and chickens and they are completely immune to the blasts. They walk around like nothing happened. They even come up right to the shooters and even go stand close to the trap machine house.
@@AbdulShakoor-br1jo He'll also be restricted to follow a certain formula, best keep it on here where he can be himself, how he wants 100%. I believe he's said he's turned down deals to do just that, be real all the time.
Excellent comparison and lots of good information. As usual. Thanks! Happy Thanksgiving... The reason I choose the semi-auto is because I grew up with a Remington 1100 12g a. Though those who grew up with pump actions will perform as efficiently as I with my semi-auto Remington. Burgler beware...
+vegasrenie Yep, and while I understand that there are times a person would not want to rack the action and give away his location, I disagree with the "expert trainer narrative" I hear all the time regarding how you'd NEVER rack the pump or that it would not scare anybody. Maybe true in some cases, but I can think of several scenarios where I would rack the slide. To each his own.
+hickok45 Well said. This is the same position that I hold. If I know the layout of my home better than the invader (and I do), and have six rounds ready, I want that slide to be heard, but within reason, at the right time. I don't like that its now considered a "myth". I'd make an accidental poopy in my pants if I knew i was in foreign territory and heard that slide rack, even if I had a solid rifle.
Is it weird his channel has stayed almost the same with the same ranch and the quality is amazing for old ass videos that’s amazes me this man deserves an oscar
I love that you keep putting shells in your pocket then reloading from the table. Probably had like twenty rounds in your pocket by the end of the session! Keep up the good work!
Ever since I got into Doom, I've been kinda curious to how shotguns and other weapons actually work. Y'know, out of... pure, scientific curiosity. Honestly, these kinds of videos are the best. They don't get unnecessarily technical, they explain how the guns work and their key differences, and they explain to you what you probably want to know: how to shoot the shooty shooter. Indeed, nothing better than a demonstration.
if you're having trouble deciding.. think of a metaphor like: a manual transmission car vs an automatic transmission. i personally like to drive manuals. the feeling of having more control of my car rather than a gas and break method (automatic). nothing personal same applies for the shotgun. i like both, but i prefer the manual (pump action) method. i feel as though im more in control of the shotgun more.
Automatic cars for me all the time. I drove a stick once, what a nightmare, unless you live in a hilly area, it's a waste of time. But I don't really like cars much, just get me from A to B, period.
hi, well as always you help me out before I buy a firearm..you didn't told me but I make my mind base in what I saw.....thanks and GOD bless you and America.
thank you mr hickok i am new to guns, i live in California, ( i know are gun laws suck, but there are still some of us who want to protect are familys from harm) its real hard to get quality info about firearm around my area. i found your channel and i am just a hugh fan now. you seam honest and just a guy trying to get info to guys like me who dont have access to the resources that people have in other states that most people take for granted. keep up the god work. thanks again so much and god bless..
This is a VERY helpful video. Thank you for making it. I am going to get the Mossberg 500. I've been researching and you helped in my final choice. great video!
A 7 year old video and still relevant and valuable. The speed shooting is a great example of the (subtle) differences between pump and semi shotguns. Nice work 45!
Just got my Maverick 88 and modded it. I love it, shots great is reliable never had a problem with it. Got a video of the modifications I did if anyone is interested.
I really enjoy my .88, since I got it for about 650 Turkish Liras when I did (Which is about 100-150$'s. Dirt cheap.). Only part I feel uncomfortable with is that the trigger assembly is made of plastics. I spend a lot of time down range and have put a huge amount of lead though the machine, it sort of scares me.
RELOADINGandSHOOTING you gotta think about brands though, you take a cheaper simiauto vs a will say cheap maverick 88 and drop them in mud. I know that 88 will feed and fire will that cheaper simiauto maybe but why take a chance. Now the higher quality simiautos like the 1100 or the super Vinci they probably will but that doesn't make them necessarily better than a 870 or a Nova in my opinion anyway
Blulk Smash 870 was my first gun period I'd recommend one everyday of the week, that being said mines older the new ones ain't as good they say but that's anything these days. I'd probably say federal flight control buckshot is pretty good. Or some #4 buckshot
Also depends on what model you're talking about, me for home defense I'd get a better model like the special purpose marine magnum 870 rather than a normal express 870, but browning BPS is a damn fine shotgun to if you're looking for a in my opinion really good gun. Novas are pretty good guns to. If you can get use to the bottom eject I'd say BPS they really are a high quality gun for not to expensive of a price.
Blulk Smash it depends I'd say, the base model 500 I wouldn't buy but the 590a1 I hear is a pretty good pump action shotgun if you wanna get an higher quality gun. Honestly the best way to find out is to go handle them at a gun store find out what works for you
Nah, it depends on what you want. I can't really load up my very fun or whatever wax slugs, or spark plugs or whatever else in semi auto. They're more picky about what you feed them.
Yep, I don't generally reach conclusions for other people. I can only point out the negatives and positives of any firearm. Others must make their own choices. :-)
A big advantage of the pump is safety. If you fire a round, you can opt to not work the slide or only retract to slide and the gun is safe. The semi auto will always load itself and be hot until cleared. Also if you're shooting clays the Semi sprays empties all over the place while you can eject the pump into your hand.
I'll always pick pump, personal preference. 2 main reasons is reliability, and easy to clear chamber if you ever DID get a jam, and pumping is satisfying and that's what comes to mind when I think shotgun. Also usually handles any type of ammo. Not saying semi isn't reliable, just saying I trust a pump a little bit more, and have way more experience with them .
Ok... it's August of 2018. I'd bet that damn gong is still ringing from the 12 gauge slugs fired in 2011! I love his comment: "I could probably go faster - I was just playin!" You know, his time was just under 2.6 seconds with the semi-auto and 3.6 seconds on the pump & he hit all the targets! Hickock45 is my favorite channel to learn about the different firearms manufacturers and models.
Practically speaking, in home defense situations, you may need an extra hand for an emergency or something, and pump action may slow down the process cuz it requires two hands. Verdict? Semi auto. Less work, more survival.
Aye, don't want to give away where you are to a determined intruder/s whom may also be armed and is in the market for a new trophy shotgun to show off to his gang pals with a gruesome story about who he killed to get it from... Albeit that example is a tad on the extreme side, admittedly. But hey, could and probably has happened.
from my perspective the semi auto shotgun is the only way to go. They eliminate user errors (short stroking) and the recoil reduction only aids the shooter in recovery and reduces fatigue. The modern semi auto, combined with the refined ammunition we have has all but eliminated reliability issues that used to crop up from time to time in the past. Though the point is moot as I can have nether in Australia...
Phil McCain I doubt it will happen mate, Australian politicians are too anti-gun to allow that to happen. The problem for me is the fact that I was around when semi autos were allowed, and it really pains me to reflect on that fact.
MynameisBrianZX less gun violence then who? I assume you are referring to America. Then you are right if you say, compare Australia (.93/100,000 firearm homicides) to District of Columbia (16.5/100,000 firearm homicides). But are wrong if you compare Australia to Utah for example (.8/100,000 firearm homicides). It interesting to note the firearm laws of the 2 examples I just cited, District of Columbia has very harsh firearm laws (almost as draconian as Australia's) and Utah has very relaxed firearm laws..... One cannot directly compare Australia to America, as we have comparatively uniform firearm legislation nationally where as America has varying firearm legislation state to state. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gun_laws_in_the_United_States_by_state en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gun_violence_in_the_United_States_by_state I personally believe Australia could be like Utah if we had similar firearm laws.
I have found the semi much more reliable, even more so when you take into consideration, human error. Semis are a lot faster with the average shooter. I have owned all the more popular pumps, but the only shotgun I still own is a 40 year old Beretta AL-2. In thousands of rounds of trap and dove hunting, it had "NEVER" malfunctioned. On a dove hunt once some old paper federals were literally coming apart and dumping shot into the action and jammed it. At the end of the day, I opened it up and sprayed all the paper and shot out of it with WD-40, and it went right back to shooting.
Pump action is more reliable than a semiauto shotgun, but generally speaking as long as you have a decent semiauto shotgun and you take good care of it, it should be alright.
True but I have a Maverick 88 and a Beretta Outlander and the Outlander is a nightmare to put back together. Everything has to be lined up perfectly. It's like a Rubik's cube. The AR is amazingly easy.
My grandpa and I went goose hunting today and he took two shots out of his beretta semi auto and when it cycled the third one the bolt got frozen in the middle and would not budge. We’re taking it to the fun smith tomorrow to fix. If that were a home defense situation and you didn’t solve it with the first two shots you would be screwed
Mano se eu não conhecesse esse cara eu diria que em um assalto ele seria o primeiro a morrer por ser idoso, mas depois dos vídeos dele eu percebi que ele seria o único de pé. O veio é BRABO!
these people...."warning rack" or "warning pump".....no its one in the chamber wether its a shotty, pistol or rifle....dont make extra noise and give away your position...maintain your element of surprise and distance and dont add valuable half seconds it takes to rack a slide or a pump cuz when you just wake up groggy its alot harder than it may seem....keep one in the chamber and defend a area with the smallest amount of possible entrances....dont give said invader any reason to either come find you or even know where you are and if he/she just happens to see you and makes a move be ready way before that happens.
Synapsis You're pretty much spot on. That's why even though I like alot of other people own an Ak and plenty of other cool firearms i've deemed my home defense gun my Remington 1100 because it's semi automatic and extremely powerful In any scenario, be it in the woods or in home defense it's all about offense. It's not a defensive game when it comes to the actual mechanics of it. Giving an intruder or say, a grizzly bear the chance to close the distance on you and maximize his damage dealt is no bueno. You gotta bring it to them.
21 feet or less and someone wielding a knife is more deadly than someone with a gun, It's a well known fact, you can do your little movie gun rack sound and then spend the next .5 seconds waitin for the light, cuz you'll be eviscerated lethally and thoroughly. Shoot first and ask questions later. Don't play around with your shotgun
You got to have hard enough ammo to run it or it'll jam you'll have a bolt action I think it's like 1260 and above till you break it in I said f*** it and got a pump I'd rather have five six shells and no they going to shoot rather than have a semi-auto with a 10 round mag and it's going to jam every time I pull the trigger
Thank you for all your helpful videos. I was thinking about what you said and agree that the semi will put rounds down rage faster... But in the case of a life or death situation or a "zombie" attack (needing to shoot them in the head), you will need to count more on accuracy than on out put of rounds. Really it just comes down to convenience of not having to rack a round before each shot. Good point about having to shoot with one hand. Thanks again for all your videos. Always watch what you have to say before I buy a new gun.
somthing to look up: Failure to feed. pump actions are generally more reliable than a semi-auto... may be "old school" but there is no school like the old school
stephen nelson I've had pump-action shotguns jam on me. Hell of a thing the first time it happened to me. Thankfully, always at the range. Yeah, it costs more; but a good bet is a semi-auto from a brand known for making excellent semi-auto shotguns (like Benelli). If cost is a major issue, I'd honestly rather have a solid double-barrel shotgun than a pump. two for sure, or jammed up after (likely) one shot.... No contest.
seems as if we have quite the opposite in shotgun experience, though in my comment i never said that all pump- actions worked flawlessly every time, iv known as long as the pump action was well maintained enough and not short stroked it fired, not to say that i have had bad experience with Benelli ( actually i like benelli) but i have had more failure to feeds on a semi- auto in my experience. but honestly i love a semi- auto, but the pump is cheaper (depending on the Manufacturer) and just as reliable (again depending on the manufacturer) as a Benelli would be , its just all a matter of knowing what your buying and how to use it
As someone who lives in Sweden with very little experience with guns, how hard would it be for me to travel to America and shoot guns in a shooting range? Do I have to apply and wait, have a license or something? I don't think I can just walk in and pay to shoot.
It really depends where you are visiting. If you are visiting Los Angeles, most shooting ranges require you to have at least two people in your party to rent a firearm. San Diego is more lax, some range will let you rent by yourself.

Yea but mistakes are not happy accidents here

There's nothing more iconic than the sound of a pump action 12 gauge.

in america at least

Hickok45: *YES*
Me: SPAS-12
Db-12: both
lol yep
Hate to be the one who breaks into his house. That dude is prepared for war with all those bird shots in his pocket

@Cris .LaFlames He used both.
You don’t break into someone’s house who has a gun range in there front yard

Having has so much experience with it I was still able to slowly load a round working the action and the more challenging ..flipping the safety off. For that I cupped the area with my hands and body to "silence" the click and it totally worked. Don't know why that came to mind on your comments. I totally agree with you that the weapon has to be properly matched to the shooter. If that had been a Mossy pump or something I was unfamiliar with I doubt I would have even attempted it.
+CyberKnife I like a lot of my benelli M3, you have the best of both worlds! works as pump and semi-auto

My Benelli pump-action works like a champ

I NEVER want to be in that situation again but if i ever am i want to be prepared!
.
+Rob J I'm sorry to hear about you experience. I've had many knives pulled on me, and I know that surge of adrenaline that makes you forget your basics all too well.
Damn! That's crazy intense! Hope the scumbags got caught!
+Spetsop no they didnt get caught but they had a nice new Chrysler that i redecorated with buckshot :p

How does mechanical chance trump full user control and agency?

Let me guess, you ride an bicycle instead of an car, since you want that "full user control and agency"@@Killjoy.Z
I hope you will never need to deal with any break-ins. But I believe you will scare the criminals away
How did you manage to own a gun in the gay capital city of the world?
hickok45 you are the best.

Free birds are not fazed by the sound of gun fire. 'Murica!
The trap range I go to on Maui has a bunch of ducks and chickens and they are completely immune to the blasts. They walk around like nothing happened. They even come up right to the shooters and even go stand close to the trap machine house.

There's something about the sound of a pump action that stops the bad guys (or anyone, for that matter!) in their tracks.
+hickok45 love your videos!
The bad guys shouldn't even get a chance to hear anything.

First Hickok video I ever watched back in 2013, and finished watching all the way thru again!
Literally the Bob Ross of guns.
another GREAT video from the one and only hickok45 !!!!!!!!!!!
if you're having trouble deciding.. think of a metaphor like: a manual transmission car vs an automatic transmission.
i personally like to drive manuals. the feeling of having more control of my car rather than a gas and break method (automatic). nothing personal
same applies for the shotgun. i like both, but i prefer the manual (pump action) method. i feel as though im more in control of the shotgun more.
The sound of a pump action shotgun being loaded and fired hovers between therapeutic and arousing
And definitely terrifying for home invaders lol
In my personal experience comparing stock shotguns a pump is faster to load(lighter tube spring) and a semi faster to unload.

A 7 year old video and still relevant and valuable. The speed shooting is a great example of the (subtle) differences between pump and semi shotguns. Nice work 45!
You can never go wrong with any shotgun...
He hasn't changed in 7 years.
"IF" both shotguns are "RELIABLE" then I would always pick the Semi-Auto shotguns...
I love the slow motion at the end. Watching everything blow up slowly is satisfying.
Again, no conclusion. It boils down to personal preference.
Yep, I don't generally reach conclusions for other people. I can only point out the negatives and positives of any firearm. Others must make their own choices. :-)
+hickok45 I have a semi 11-87 for 4h trap shooting
Well, when is the Benelli M3 Super 90 video released? :O

zeb quakenbush Realiability and functionality over gimmicky speed and jam o matics any day
A big advantage of the pump is safety. If you fire a round, you can opt to not work the slide or only retract to slide and the gun is safe. The semi auto will always load itself and be hot until cleared. Also if you're shooting clays the Semi sprays empties all over the place while you can eject the pump into your hand.
I looked away for a second and I thought he was shooting the semi when he was using the pump.
14:14 alright mister zombie... with a motorcycle helmet!
Hickok45 you are the best 😂😂👍🏻
The auto is clearly faster. I'm old school. I'll keep my Mossberg. It's part of me, a good friend. Smiles
Same for me Bruh. I’d probably try to pump an auto loader outta sheer muscle memory.
Ahh the sound of a slug on that gong . Soooooo satisfying
Haha! I zoned out for a second and thought you were shooting the semi but you were just unleashing the fury of the pump! Great shooting
I'll go with the semi-automatic shotgun so my mom has an easier time using it. Thank you very much, sir!
hickok45 Zombie slayer. lol
this old timer is fucking awesome
Ok... it's August of 2018.
He talks about that early into the video
Pump action wins you look cooler doing it ^_^
Not a fan of the shotgun pump sound scaring away intruders. Just blast em at that point .

Plus logical people would know lol that a sound of that pump may not scare everyone

"i can probably do it faster, i was just playing" now that's a flex!
from my perspective the semi auto shotgun is the only way to go.
I'm sorry to hear that. Hopefully your country comes to it's senses in the future.
Phil McCain I doubt it will happen mate, Australian politicians are too anti-gun to allow that to happen. The problem for me is the fact that I was around when semi autos were allowed, and it really pains me to reflect on that fact.
+Orion hey, at least you have less gun violence?

I personally believe Australia could be like Utah if we had similar firearm laws.
Unfortunately, I live in California, so where I from Australia looks like as safe as Utah =P Least I don't live in DC.
Thanks for the info. I'm somewhat confused, however: the rifle you called Benelli has Heckler & Koch imprinted on the receiver. What am I missing?
It's an early model. I think in 1989, when I bought this one, that H&K was the importer.

Idk I like the pump more for some reason !!!!
This man and his son genuinly make me happy
Semi automatic for me...
At the end of the day, I opened it up and sprayed all the paper and shot out of it with WD-40, and it went right back to shooting.
love this video! Nice aiming boss
Hickok don’t miss much of anything !
I didn't even think it was possible for a shotgun to shoot that far
It's a slug
Shotguns are effective weapons out to 60 yards with buckshot and slugs are out to 200ish, depends on the shooter
I go with the pump action shotgun
take the pump action, less parts to fail you
really?
Have you ever taken apart a pump gun. Its a swiss watch compared to an AR-15.
This guy never misses. Most ive shot is a 10-22 and a 22 cal revolver.

you guys have been watching too much tv.....

You're pretty much spot on.
Keep one in the chamber of your no firing-pin-block-having shotgun all you want just be sure not to blow your own head off when you drop it at 2am
Jadervason shotguns do NOT fire unless you press the trigger. even slam-fire capable ones.
That semi-automatic ain't playing around, wow.
I love semi autos but if the shtf i'm going with a pump.

I just don't understand why anyone would want any manual gun these days apart from slow target shooting...semiautos are super.
somthing to look up: Failure to feed. pump actions are generally more reliable than a semi-auto... may be "old school" but there is no school like the old school
stephen nelson
I've had pump-action shotguns jam on me. No contest.
seems as if we have quite the opposite in shotgun experience, though in my comment i never said that all pump- actions worked flawlessly every time, iv known as long as the pump action was well maintained enough and not short stroked it fired, not to say that i have had bad experience with Benelli ( actually i like benelli) but i have had more failure to feeds on a semi- auto in my experience. but honestly i love a semi- auto, but the pump is cheaper (depending on the Manufacturer) and just as reliable (again depending on the manufacturer) as a Benelli would be , its just all a matter of knowing what your buying and how to use it
but i have had good experiences with benelli shotguns,
Simple.. reliability.
Well, THAT was pretty entertaining!
Wow! That semi-auto really puts em out! Nice! Ty.
All the "pot smoking" going on around here, and yet you are using the door of a VW bus as a target. Seems ironic. I wonder if there is a connection.
As someone who lives in Sweden with very little experience with guns, how hard would it be for me to travel to America and shoot guns in a shooting range? Do I have to apply and wait, have a license or something? I don't think I can just walk in and pay to shoot.
I think it depends by state. In Las Vegas a tourist can walk into a range and shoot.
as the guy above me said, go to Las Vegas and you can go into shooting ranges and fire full auto military guns
It really depends where you are visiting. If you are visiting Los Angeles, most shooting ranges require you to have at least two people in your party to rent a firearm. San Diego is more lax, some range will let you rent by yourself.
Here at my local range in FL, you can only rent handguns and you have to be 21 to rent
Texas is gun-friendly. You could walk into a range here and shoot.
