And really? No Beretta 1301?!
I agree - 1301T with Aridus Industries kit is a phenomenal tactical/semi auto.
@@rdeeeezy and the LTT edition too
1301 and M2 were glaring missing pieces here...
No SPAS15 and Super Nova, only post collection commentary T_T
should have had the Beretta 1301 over the Vepr 12 imo the availability of the Vepr should have taken it off the list
Semi-auto shotguns are probably my favorite category of gun. No other civilian weapon delivers so much kinetic energy so quickly.
Idk man.. you should see the looks my wife gives me😳
Idk guys. I mentioned buying a Falkor Petra the other day, and received a look that would have made Medussa turn to stone...
Except when a civilian owns an M2 Browning
Isn't a 50 bmg technical civilian
Thats because us "civilians" are
Speaking of the Marines using old equipment, on my last 31st MEU float in "06 we had an M2 .50 cal that was a WW2 production AC Spark Plug Div. General Motors gun. It was the only one that had wood on the spade grips and charging handle. The armorer told me it was the best running gun in the inventory.

That's not just a Marine thing. My M2 in the active Army 1st Cav Division during the 06-08 Iraq troop surge was made by AC Delco Spark Plug Division as well and it ran great. I also had a Frigidaire one in 1st Infantry Division. It's just a metal box so they're easy to refurbish.
Really surprised that the Beretta 1301 isn't on this list. Seems like a pretty significant oversight, it's nearly universally well liked and has been put through it's paces by a lot of highly regarded reviewers and passed with flying colors.
Agree 💯
Great work guys! Thanks
I have an M2 with a seven-round mag and some work done on it. Fun and runs like a dream. My 1301 is faster and lighter, yet less felt recoil. It is the tactical model, so also has a seven-round mag tube. They are Cruiser Ready at hand at home. My back up weapon is CZ P01 with a Cajun Gun Works trigger. Fast, fast, fast and smooth. Behind that is my Springfield 1911 in .45. If the bad guys get past all those I am probably already dead, so……….. Great vid gents, dunno how I missed it for 3 years.
Love 5 guns. 6 years ago I was a 20 year old guy looking to buy my first gun with no idea what to look for, coming from a non-gun owning family. I came across a video called (as I remember)"5 guns for your college student" and never turned back. In that one year I bought a glock 19, a 91/30, a Maverick 88, and my first AR. And I've been on the journey ever since. You guys helped fill the gaps of knowledge that I couldn't get from my own family and ill always be thankful for that. Thank you guys for putting in the work, and keep it up!
I wish I had anything (common sense to boot) in my mid-20's I would have two or three of every popular caliber up to 50 BMG and could have bought a ranch. From 1994-2004 (Omnibus Crime Bill) made it 'illegal' to manufacture or import rifle mags >10 rounds. 30 round mags were selling for $50 & much higher. Crime with 'black rifles' was one of its selling points which was BS. Murders still went up-same as always, with handguns.
They really helped me out a lot too
It's interesting to see how quickly the Beretta 1301 has taken over the demand in the market over the past year.
Good list but Beretta 1301 should definitely be on the list. Fair price, great quality, super reliable and the fastest of the bunch. Love my 1301 tactical.
Agreed 100% 👍
100%
Not really a fair price its 1300.00 beans
@@scotts3574 hmm, when I bought mine it was $850. Prices on everything went thru the roof
Agree 100% should be number one in my humble opinion got my hands on one I'll never go back to a pump
I cant help but laught at 6:10 when hes listing the different mag sizes. Chad just starts perking up as the number gets higher.
I’ve had the same Remington 1100, 12 gauge. It’s fitted with a “Cutts Compensator, for 40 years now. It has never failed me, and I can’t tell you how many times it fed me. Great video guys, thanks.
👍🏻 for the 1100, my first shotgun, and I’d never sell it!
Great shotgun
That was my first shotgun it used to be my grandfathers
1100 is the first semi 12 i ever laid hands on. Nice.
I purchased my first shotgun - a Remington 1100 in 20 gauge - 57 years ago when I was fourteen. Never a failure to feed /function regardless of what ammo was used. It’s still going strong after many thousands of rounds.
Eric's face when he turns around after emptying a full mag of 12ga from the Vepr is priceless.
He looks so happy! It's infectious!
i had smile watching
Like a guy with shaken-baby syndrome
I put a lot of rounds down range with the Benelli M4 when I was in the Navy. Love the 80s and older Remington 870 for pumps and the Benelli M4 for semi auto.
I was a marine in an infantry unit (0351) who's specialty was urban mobility breaching...aka blowing up doors/walls, and I can say from experience that the corps was/is way too broke to afford 1014's. (Some recon units might have a few) But my unit got a pair of remington 870's from a unit coming back from deployment and those suckers were so old and worn out that our CO told us not to use them.
My Benelli M4 is my most favorite firearm to shoot. Easily puts a smile on my face after a rough day! Definitely an expensive platform though...c-stock, ti mag tube, 92r trigger kit, scalarworks mount, and a rmr 😍
My 930spx has proven a very reliable and smooth shooting 12 gauge. Glad to see it on the list!
same here
I have one that has had some nice upgrades from OR3GUN and Mesa Tactical, it is 100% reliable and wouldn't hesitate to protect my family and home with it.
@@Arizona.Ranger good to know, I ordered a 930 jm pro and am waiting to get it.
I got all the or3gun parts waiting to install.
Mine chokes on the el cheapo low brass bargain-brand loads, other than that it works.
I run the 'berg 935 with a 10 shot mag extension and breach choke
Love my VersaMax. Runs everything. Mild recoil with the heavy hitting loads
Top 5 guns for teaching new/young shooters would be a good video. Love the work y'all are doing, keep it up!!!
Glad you pulled in the M3 Super 90. I love mine (also H&K marked) and it shoots so fast I had a guy at a shooting pit ask me if it was full auto when I tried to see how fast I could dump a tube full of birdshot.
Had a huge guffaw when Eric mentioned a long barrelled 24" or 26" shotgun!
We had a member turn up to a driven fox shoot with a 42" marlin bolt-action 3&1/2" chamber.
The chap had to use a stand to support his shotgun.
I am commenting from the Republic of Ireland.
Pump or bolt? Marlin made the model 200 pump with long barrels, from 30 to 38 inches, and those barrels sell for more than the shotgun does now.
Bolt, odds are it was the Marlin Model 55, Super Goose, in 10 bore. Excellent duck blind gun, but impractical for field use. I have 3 M 55s, one a 20 in Swamp Gun, a 36 in M 55, both 12s, and just added a.Super Goose, last year. Also have my grandfathers 200, with the 19 inch slug barrel, and the 36 in bird barrel.
A few years ago I picked up a break action with a 35 inch barrel and lemme tell you when you open the action it’s like a tree falling
@@kevinfox500 It was a bolt action shotgun. I may have overestimated the length of the barrel. It's at least 10yrs since I saw that gun. Very likely that the barrel was 36inches. I'll get on to the chap and ask him. He's still in the club.
@@johnegan7622 Cool.
Thanks guys for another fantastic video! I love semi automatic shotguns! I have shot a few to include a benelli, Fostech Origin SBV 12g & Remington 16g. Keep up the great work, you inspire me to make better videos👊🇺🇸
I have a Remington V3 and it is the only gun I've ever had that has simply refused to fail as long as I've owned it. The only issue I've ever had was stovepiping when I tried some low recoil buck my dad bought, but that was basically just confirming what I already knew was going to happen.
Great info. Thanks. I am a veteran of the First Gulf war and we had M16's from the vuetnam war in our unit.
Bought the Mossberg 930 SPX and loving it! Solid, Reliable, Proven, and priced right.
How much$
@@danmeyers708mine was $700 cerakoted and tac stock
@@johnbeder5646 thanks. Will be shopping for one or one like it today.
I think you will really like it. I have an FN SLP at about twice the price and the Mossy keeps up with it. Never an issue with either one.
The joy while shooting the VEPR 12 is so contagious
One piece that you didn't mention is the Browning. I have a Belgian made Auto-5 and they are iconic. It has an adjustable recoil system which allows for function with light loads or heavy loads equally well.
The Auto 5 may not be tacti-cool but it runs and runs well.
I brought my A5 humpback Browning in 1961 for ($175 used) with 28" modified & 30" full I past it on to my oldest son.
Got one of the first VEPR 12 shotguns imported into the country and have been happy with it ever since.
Is it a short barrel Class 3 firearm, and how long if so did it take to go through the ATF process?
Bought a M3 after your first video on it and I've been absolutely loving it!
I've had a Vepr 12 for awhile, what a fun gun to shoot. It doesn't like low velocity loads though when it comes to bird shot, has to be 1200 fps + and even then on small occasions it's finicky with that depending on the brand shell used where I get stove pipes, so I've found 1250 fps + is the sweet spot with mine. Got a few modifications done to mine, but the one thing I would say you need to put on it is a GK-01 muzzle brake which significantly reduces recoil especially as you get into the heavier loads like buckshot & slugs.
"Heat" is in my top 10. lot of good weapons in that flix, great presentation boys!
That is indeed the M1014. Not a marine, but the 1014 happens to be my favorite
Son of a bitch, the Benelli's are expensive though... An "investment" is such a polite way of putting it. lol
The FN SLP comes with an additional gas system that allows you to adjust the action to the shells you are using... that being said, I played around with it and was unable to get it to fail in any way with the standard gas system. I ran it through light bird shot all the way to buckshot and it ate it up with ease.
No failures of any kind shooting heavy combat loads. Never shot light loads.
A long time ago after I came back from Southeast Asia in 1968 I went shooting with a friend who was nuts about skeet. Kept written records on his precious skeet gun, a Remington 1100. At that time it was up to 128,000 rounds. Never failed. No broken parts; only needed a rubber O-ring from time to time. He lived and shot another 30 years. The gun lasted until it was passed on to relatives. Around 1980 I was working at the oldest gun shop in town, a Remington repair station. A wealthy customer brought in an 1100 he had dropped out of a boat while hunting Jaguar in Central America and said it took the boys three days to find it. He unloaded it and took the barrel off and swished it around in the river to wash most of the mud out, then put the barrel on and with new shells continued hunting. My semi auto is an 1100. No fancy crap on it just good ammo in it.
I LOVE my Vepr-12! It cycles everything BUT 1150 FPS low recoil rounds. Gotta use at least 1300 FPS rounds to cycle it correctly without a FTF. 3 in shells are BRUTAL on the shoulder, but rapid firing one at the range is a blast (pun intended).
The only one of the six I've ever fired is the Mossberg 930. It was very finicky about ammo, lighter loads would not cycle. I sold it and bought a Beretta 1301 Tactical. My Beretta 1301 is very reliable with everything I have tried. Slugs, buckshot, hunting birdshot loads, light target loads - it doesn't matter, runs them all. If I could find a Beretta 1301 Competition I'd buy it. Some of those other shotguns might be better than my Beretta 1301, I don't know because I have never fired them, but I am definitely satisfied with my 1301.
I like the inertia semi autos more than the gas operated ones also
My not an M4?
I have an Omega AR-12 that I use for every hunting season. It takes 3" magnum turkey rounds, lobs slugs for deer and gets plenty of ducks/canadian geese. Adustable gas block, mag fed too so its fun at the range to mag dump and smile! Plus it is Massachusetts compliant which is confusing.
Thanks guys. Amazing content and info. You helped me with a few decisions I was considering for home defense.
Great channel...just straight talk. Nice prep and outlining the talking points.
My 930 jm pro ran cheap bulk pack right out of the box. A ton of firepower in a lower cost option.
I've got a tuned up one for competition, seems very reliable and nice to shoot. Originally after a Stoeger but there were none available.
I’m a mossberg guy, live 5 minutes from the factory. However the FN has had my eye for some time now.
I got a 500 Cruiser. I broke it down and put an adjustable stock on it, and use it long rifle style. Really like it.
Nice. I actually live about 20 minutes from the Browing Factory. :)
Crazy! Yesterday I was searching for some shotguns. And, BOOM your video is here! Talk about good timing. Keep up the good work!
I've never had a malfunction from my SPAS-12. I've had mine for 10+ years. The problem is the vast majority of them have not been maintained for various reasons. When I got mine I replaced the O-ring for the gas system, the receiver and stock shock absorbers, and later on, the fire control group. This was done to address the safety recall issue. My gun still had the very dangerous quick employment safety. The problem is that by now, that O-ring has disintegrated and so has the receiver and stock shock absorbers. They literally fall apart after 30 years or more of sitting. Most people don't know anything about the guns or what needs to be replaced on them.
The guns will not cycle low power ammunition when on semi-auto, but switching from pump to semi-auto is way easier than it is on the M2. You also don't need to unfold the stock for the gun to operate reliably. I've never had that issue either. The one thing I will say that's against the SPAS-12 is the fact that it's overly complex and operating it can be difficult. If you hit the magazine interrupt, or you aren't well versed at loading it, the gun is a pain to operate. I wouldn't recommend them for home defense, but they aren't as unreliable or as difficult to operate as the video makes them sound.
My 2 cents...
A good semi auto with good ammo that it will cycle reliably is less likely to malfunction than a mechanically more simple pump gun is to be short shucked in a high pressure situation, like home defense.
Good point. I agree. But practice practice practice….
I have a previous model of JM Pro and it is a great shotgun. I will get this years version down the road it looks very nice and should work great!
I'd like to see a review of some 410 shotguns. In my opinion, those a great for home defense, since you'll only be standing 10 feet from an intruder and they're the easiest to shoot. Especially for a new shooter like myself.
I love my RIA VR-80. AR style platform. Reliable once you break it in.
Thanks boys, needed this video today!
I just picked up a Mossberg 930 SPX. I looked all around for the best deal. It definitely was not cheap. I haven't dropped it off a mountain yet but I've worked the hell out of my MB 500 for the last 10 years. It's proven to be the most reliable gun I've ever owned, thus the reason I opted for the 930 when choosing a tactical 12g.
As always great info delivered with a sense of humor
Ive always wondered how “The Dickens” runs.
I really liked the detachable magazine on the AK based gun. That could be a real advantage if you got into an armed shootout with a couple of armed criminals inside your house. I've also wondered how an Uzi would fare in home defense. It has some advantages.
Maybe if you get the fully auto one, but most of them are semi so it’d be as good as any ar or carbine you could get
Benelli M1 my fav. Tough quick and high mileage use. Hard to beat. Love mine
This is the best video in a while, loved it!! Greetings from Australia.
I sold my kitted out 870 to get my Benelli M4 and it's one of the best gun buying decisions I've made. I absolutely love this thing. I almost went with a SPAS-12, but given that this was for home defense, I decided against the Franchi in the end.
I never sell my old ones, just keep adding to my collection.
FM SLP is now gone...get ready and arm up now. The FN SLP has been the best with highest capacity. 7+1 3" Magnums OOO buck. Not available as of Jan 7th 2021 (strange date) . Get a quality semi auto now! Today Tom
it's not even on their website anymore, like why?!
I found one used and y'all are making me want to go get it now.
IWI Tavor TS12: “hold my beer” at 15+1
I'm glad to see so many people commenting about the 1301T, which these days comes from the factory with extended charging handle, enlarged safety, enhanced bolt release and a 7 round tube. Average price currently $1350. To outfit an M4 similarly is about $3500.
I enjoy yalls video more than any other gun specialist videos anywhere. Well done fellas.
Is there any company that offers an M3 with a mag fed conversion? That would be a dream come true
I love my VR80 12 gauge magazine fed shotgun has the AR platform and good for right of left handed ,feeds 2 3/4 and 3" shells
Yup beast
I’ve got the vr60 and god dang rock island armory makes some extremely good quality guns!!!
vr80 and f12 are two of my favorite "AR12s" for sure
Great list guys! Completely agree re. the Franchi SPAS 12 - it was novel and mine actually worked okay got rid of it long ago! I prefer my trench gun, SAIGA and KSG 12GA guns today!
One issue exists with the 930 that has been fixed with the 940.
If shooting a lot (200+ rounds) of slugs, lead will be deposited on the magazine tube resulting in a stoppage that is VERY difficult to remove.
great list; I need to bring my LTT 1301 down!
Where is that M4 vs. LTT 1301 vid? The world needs to know.
Show some light options for the m4! Its ghost town for m4 mods.
The VEPR 12 is king, with a Dissident arms paint job.... you have a wet dream.
Yes, the 1301 is the one I’m curious about.
1301 = King
I’ve got a sweet Remington Model 11 military version. My grandpa gave it to me when I was 15 and it was his father’s before. And before that it was a police officer’s back in the 50’s but when the officer was putting it in his cruiser it went off and blew a hole in the roof. So the sheriff said it was too dangerous and needed to be sold. So my great grandpa got it for $15.
I've got a nice Model 11 bird gun. A previous owner had it modified with a Polychoke, vent rib and who knows what else. From the way it shoots, I suspect a lengthened forcing cone and backbored. If you miss with it, you TRIED to miss. And unlike the inertia guns I've shot, it's quick and smooth like the gas guns I'm familiar with.
Love that shotgun.
Just picked up my Benelli M3 the other day :) Been waiting for many a moon...can't wait to fire her...great video gents...
Bought my vepr12 a few years back for like 700. Glad I did!!! Its a blast to shoot, no pun intended.
I love my 12 gauge semi-auto shotguns!
I just got my 1st semi-auto and it is great. I like the less recoil!
YEAP...! They are great for Civil Unrest...😠
I got 2. Rem 1100, and Lynx 12.
Am I a joke to you
I can't believe the IWI TS12 wasn't mentioned. Thank you for your great videos.
Yea , plus its got Military grade build quality. Easy to load , easy to unload with 3 tubes built into the shot gun ! Got mine in OD Green with the curved butt end / muzzle brake / knurled charging handle / vickers sling & a Burris Fast Fire 3 Red Dot.
I love my Benelli M-3. I had to run about 1000 rounds through it before it was fully broken in and would run low brass light target loads in semi auto but now it will eat anything with a 12 on it.
While I understand the Benelli Marine is associated with the USMC, the broader definition of a marine shotgun means that it is either stainless or coated with something that is rust resistant. Mossberg had the Mariner and other companies used the term marine grade, something that could be kept on your boat.
I was issued an FNC1A1..."FN FAL" in the Canadian Infantry. That thing was a Truck...easy maintenance 308 hit power...dependable...and accurate. Big kick and heavy though.
Note to self: Do not mess with Canadian infantry. We tried it in1812 and lost.

I have had awesome and epic cycling experiences up there.
Brothers: Yes.
No Browning A-5 honorable mention?
Tsk tsk.
Agreed. I love my A5 and have taken many birds, both clays and meaty lol, with mine.
My thought as well. A gun designed by John Moses Browning over a hundred years ago and still works well deserves to be included.
I don’t think that’s the same video. Auto5’s probably never crossed their minds when considering the line up.
If we were all tasked to make this video, prior to any indication of what they chose. I suspect that the bench would look radically different from one to the next. With no clarification of what the shotgun will be used for, simply “best auto shotguns”. My bench would have more wood furniture on the shotguns for example.
One Ton Scout II Though the Auto5 still deserves a mention because of its history that lead to the modern semi-auto shotgun. The show should have been called, “The Best Modern Semi Auto Shotgun.”
A5 is still THE BEST semi auto shotgun in history, bar none. the only hindrance is you cant dress it up like a Christmas tree with a ton of tactical BS. if we are just looking at functionality, i defy you to find a more rugged and reliable shotgun than an original A5, FN make or even the Japanese models
While working on the vault route in my armored car courier employment, I carried a Winchester Defender, equipped with a pistol grip and the same M60 padded sling that was mentioned... In addition to a 6" Colt King Cobra in a shoulder rig, under my left arm.
I bought a Benelli M4 clone for my first shotgun/first firearm and it's my favorite shotgun that I've fired by far.
For me, I went around and around trying to decide between the FN SLP MK1 and the Benelli M4. In the end, the few extra hundred dollars for the Benelli wasn't enough to make me not pick it. I love my Benelli.
I felt the same about my Benelli. Buy once, cry once. Find an FFL that has a generous layaway program. All of my guns were bought that way. Some of them are expensive, but I’ll have them the rest of my life.
14:50 that moment when you’re holding a Benellie

Great stuff!Thanks for sharing.
The dog shirt is great! As always, informative and enjoyable, keep up the good work.
I work for SRM (we build the 1216 and surecycle was invented here) and my choice of semi auto 12ga is the Saiga 12. I shoot a couple hundred rounds a day from various semi-auto 12ga and the Saiga 12 has been the most reliable and easiest shooter for me.

I have the Beretta 1301 LLT, Mossberg 930SPX and Tavor TS12. The 1301 and TS12 are amazing. The 930 is good but the gas piston and gas keys dirty up quick. The 1301 is pure badass
No Beretta 1301 tactical, come on! Lol. I love my 1301 tactical.
right?
I mean Beretta is the father company of Benelli and isn't the 1301 *(and A300/A400 series) faster while also being more reliable?
Or was it that they don't have an Beretta's b/c they're all sold out and Italy is on lockdown?
Lost Dragon indeed. Nice points to make here.
@@laptopdragon Italy is not on lockdown. Stop treat us as lepers since your CV19 record is far worst...
You couldn’t give me a Beretta. I’m a retired gun dealer and I speak from experience. They might have a decent gun but God help you if you ever need customer service. The absolute worst customer service in the industry. Nobody is even close to how horrid they are. They just don’t care and they aren’t afraid to tell you they don’t care. FYI, S&W and Ruger have the best customer service out of all the manufacturers in my opinion.
God, its head and shoulders above that pice of shit Mossberg. I had a 930, it was unreliable when wet, or with light loads, or if it wasn't cleaned often. That is not at all what you want in a field, or tactical gun. My 1301 dose all of that, well, and completely reliably. It also weighs a full pound less to boot.

I really hope they have a response video where they read comments about Chad’s hair! 😂 I think Chad keeps it growing to blend in to the metro sexual types in the cities.
Your comments on the Marines are spot on, and the orange crayons taste the best!
With aquamarine second, they taste like figi water...
13:37 Benelli M4 LE - "Heres ya baby" hahaha loved that! 🤩😍😂
Awesome video! Love top 5 gun videos! Can you do top 5 combat / self defense sub guns? You did Best 9mm carbines 4 years ago, but can you make a top 5 sub gun video that includes all calibers? Keep up the good work!
Appreciate yall. Love from Jacksonville, Florida
Same here!
I’ve been looking everywhere for a 1301 comp.
Me too ended up just getting a M2
Our Sheriff's Office has had one on backorder with Beretta for months, they have no expected ship date. Good Luck!
I can find the pro for $1400 😬 but I don’t know if I want the blue
I LOVE my beretta 1301comp. I've gone years without cleaning it and it has never let me down.
Why are the 1301's so hard to get?
The Franci SPAS 12 semi auto to pump function is a simple press of a button under the fore grip/stock and move it about a quarter of an inch back or forth as you change between operational modes. SPAS was an acronym for Special Purpose Automatic Shotgun and was intended for Military and Police use. Designed for M&P use it was designed to work with full power loads (slugs and buckshot) on semi auto and for lighter loads you would switch to the pump action mode. For importation to the United States they change the acronym to mean Sporting Purpose Automatic Shotgun.
Have you guys tested the Black Aces M Series magazine semiautomatic? I want one and was a little sad not to find it on your list.
Chad is the last samurai.
@MVia Subsonic the Hedgehog! 🤣 There is a massive T shirt opportunity here... 🤔
I will be Samurai too one day! I've been hitting the Ghost of Tsushima Samurai Training Simulator pretty hard lately! 😅 I even bought myself a real Katana! 😀
😂😂😂😂

Get a hair cut dude
I own the new Browning A5 Stalker. Coyotes, ducks, geese, and turkeys are no match for my A5. I had a Benelli SBE. It never felt comfortable to me. The A5 is my shotgun of choice.
A5s are the best
Always use the one that fits but A5 is not a SBE class. I own several brands, including these two. There’s a reason why some cost more than others.
I will always love my Browning, (5) fast, little kick, great output.
What ammo would you recommend for the Vepr12. I've used some Remington Target ammo and they seem to constantly get stuck during ejection....Thanks
