I absolutely loved this video, thought it was really cool, and out of the 30 videos we had planned for the Mark of Calth campaign, it was the one I was most confident in. And it absolutely BOMBED. It was absolutely dead on 11k at launch, and in the 8 months since has limped into the 20's. I've spent a lot of time pouring over the data, and it suffers from many of the issues that Mark of Calth did, but it still shocks me just how poorly it performed. It was a huge blow at the time, and was the first warning sign of the train derailing in the months to come. The financial failure of the Mark of Calth used to hurt ALOT more than it does today, I've managed to build the channel back up from the absolute algorithm death I inflicted upon it with MoC, which has certainly eased the burden, but also I feel a bit more hopeful because I'm currently developing a new plan to revive MoC, so the thought of all the unfinished videos isn't as heavy as it once was. Anyway, if you're watching this in 2023, maybe you had a little gander after I referenced this video in my river video, what did you think? Was it an interesting watch? Thanks for checking it out regardless, your viewership means a lot
I feel you Lachy. If I had to attempt to give (part of) an explanation as to why it did so poorly. It might have been that it didn't show the creation of something new so maybe people just thought that there wouldn't be anything they hadn't seen yet? Honestly, and please don't take this personally, I felt like it still looked a lot like Minas Tirith which didn't make the accompanying Battle Report all too convincing for me. To me it looked like playing 30K on a Minas Tirith Board. The battle was also relatively static, consisting in big parts of guys shooting from or at the wall which produced little engagement in me. So I wasn't interested in watching the build of the board for a BatRep which didn't exactly sweep me off my feet. Just my two cents. I love your stuff, watch almost all of it. I realize that my explanation may not have any truth to it at all. For example I personally didn't, and still don't, get at all why your Star Wars Legion Campaign fizzled out the way it did, I loved till the end.
I don't remember ever seeing this video pop up in my feed, I'm not sure what happened with it, but I didn't even realise it existed until you pointed it out in the most recent video. Coming back to watch it now though, better late than never :)
I remeber enjoying this video at the time. I usually watch your videos when I have time as opposed to when they first hit and UA-cam recommends them to me. I wonder if comments affected it, if your mainstream audience isn't as associated to HH then they may be less likely to comment which might effect its reach. 🤷♂
Popping in after the river video link in 2023, just wanted to comment that I wasn't really into Mark of Calth when you launched it because my interest in your channel is primarily terrain/crafting-related (and fantasy over sci-fi at that) but I totally would have watched this. I don't even remember it coming through my feed at the time. The algorithm is so weird and merciless some times. All the Love and thanks for the content!
I just want to say that I loved it when I first watched it and I loved it just as much when I watched it again the second time. I really hope that the Mark of Calth campaign takes off and gets the attention it deserves. It is quite literally the best Battle Report series Ive ever watched on UA-cam. I love playing 40k and the Horus Heresy, not so much watching it. But the Mark of Calth? Absolutely LOVE it! I hope it works out in the end!
Really clever use of terrain. Can't wait for more Horus Heresy content! My favourite SM vehicle is the Thunderhawk Gunship (assuming that counts) - Always an awe-inspiring model to see on the tabletop and epic in the lore as well.
Love how you modularized your terrain. My terrain projects spend most of their life on the drawing board because I want them to be usable in as many things as possible. You gave me the courage to just finish stuff and maybe repurpose them later! Favourite legion vehicle has to be Land's Raider. The workhorse of the legions and normal (elite) humans alike.
That livestream was great and it was weirdly inspiring to see how you make crazy boards without having a massive studio. Makes it seem so much more achievable. As for the favourite vehicle, I said this on the other video, but the castraferrum dreadnought! Who doesn't love an industrial looking metal box that does murder!
Great video! We shall march on Minas Tir- I mean terra! My fav vehicle remains the redemptor dreadnought from 40k. I’d love to see another dedicated heresy terrain series- perhaps Macragge?
As former mechanized infantrymen in the Norwegian armed forces, I love heavy transports and IFV. I can visualize the dismount of Iron Warriors from a Spartan Asssult Tank. The fire support from the Spartan covering their dismount as they get into formation to begin fire and movement. Covering eachother as they move up, isolating their target, & as they close the gap throw grenades into their foe’s posistion then storming in on full auto.
@@Zorpazorp I can promise you there is nothing in this world which gives you more of an adrenaline kick than having a literall autocannon covering you with 30mm grenades as you run under fire towards an entrenched position. Firing your light Machine gun at 50 meters, emptying your belt as the squad move up. I love that with the Horus Heresy ruleset (pinned) and assault transports you can literally do this on the tabletop. I just love the Horus Heresy ruleset. Cant wait for more of the mark at calth series!
The need to get building scenery is strong after watching this. The humble rhino is the work horse of the marine forces. Therefore it has to be my favourite.
Gotta be honest, I didn't even realize you had to make new terrain for this board, I just thought your already made boards just fit together that well already. Shows me how much effort you put into this I suppose. As for my favourite vehicle, gotta be the predator. Love seeing a squadron of three just roll up on something and unleash hell
Love the battle report, and I really like the verticality on this board. My favorite Space Marine vehicle is probably the Vindicator, I really like tank destroyers conceptually and the absurd cannon poking through the dozer shield is awesome looking
Absolutely love you content, really gives me the confidence to try my own scratch built terrain! Of all the space marine vehicles, the spartan is hilarious, the imperium invents the tank hunting lascannon, a weapon which can one shot almost anything, the spartan is equipped with 10
„Fogging“ amazing, as always! I also loved the battle report, though I don’t usually watch those. I’d love to see an astraeus super heavy tank in that gorgeous scenery!
The humble rhino - it just gets you there. And by you - I mean you and you 9 possessed power armoured Khorne Berzerker buddies :) . Also really dig the green effect! Amazing work as always!
came back in 2024. watched the original series on release b4 I was a Warhammer fan and didn't really understand but appreciated the work regardless now I have gotten into Warhammer and after reading "know no fear" whilst on a quest to read all word bearer books it made me remember this series. although it may not have preformed as well as u have hoped, know that you have been a massive inspiration to many and myself to create wargaming pieces and terrain ^^ love from the UK
My favourite Marine Vehicle has to be the Land Raider. Seeing one in-person as a kid was a defining “woah” moment for me; it’s the epitome of the 40k philosophy of Metal Bawkses
I came here from your resin video and I love the fact that you actually changed the name of this video! 🤣 This really deserves some more love. You did a great job.
Incredible how you could seamlessy rearrange pieces of the Minas Tirith table into a different scenery alltogether. I couldn't really appreciate it from the battle report videos, great job as usual! Btw, my favourite space marine vehicle has to be the land speeder (especially the tempest version). I think it really suits the way marines are supposed to fight, at least in the 40K setting. 30k is a different thing: the bigger the vehicle, the better!
Love the channel and how everytime you release a video its somehow crazier than the last, my favourite space marine vehicle is the space marine land speeder!
Im not certain this counts as a "vehicle" but i love the Warhound titan, the mix of speed and firepower enabling it to take down even the largest of emperor titans is so awesome. The Dawn of War "dominatus titan" is another close second. Its so huge haha
I am in love! with the series :-) I hope you guys will keep doing it even on a small scale, the game is great and how you give detail to everything is brilliant!
The space marine attack bike is my favorite because I really like the idea that the mechanics built a little sidecar so that a marine could ride around with his friend :)
Really cool scenic build, I’ll have to remember all this stuff when I build my boards. My favorite space marine vehicle would be the Sicaran, I love both the aesthetic and rules, it really looks and feels like a fast moving tank.
I love watching these kinds of videos, it gives you a good idea how much work goes into making it all, such a cool mix lotr and warhammer and so keen to see more of this and the campaign, keep it up bro your doing awesome.
My favourite vehicle of the Legiones, is the Fell-Glaive. The idea of a giant Beam of Deflagerating Death incinerating everything in its path is both terrifying and awe inspiring.
Is really inspiring to watch you work man, always glad to see more massive projects on the table lol. My favorite space marine vehicle is probably the Fellblade, the moment I saw one for the first time it was love at first side. It's unfortunate that it's a total pain to build, that kit has issues, but damn am I always happy to see it lol.
Sneaky Lachie! Having worked on this project right under our noses :) Still, I'm really glad for you that this turns out so well! Keep it up and make our glorious Primarch Guilliman proud!
Always liked the Baal Predator of the Blood Angels when it came to Space Marine vehicles. That Kratos also has some sway in my liking. Also love how you blended one of my favorite locations of Middle-Earth with the settings of the Heresy, great slew of details put in for this battlefield.
You drew me in with your Legion Series, I stayed because your stuff is amazing. Loving the Mark of Calth stuff! Also my favorite vehicle is the Repulser Executioner
Thank you Pat, the Legion series was very much the forerunner to this series, I just couldn't afford to spend the time on those edits I wanted it, Capping myself at about 150hrs per edit, whereas this edit took 260hrs. It's a lot of labour, and they rarely make the money back, but I wanted to try and give Heresy the coverage it deserved and see if I could break even. Time will tell!
My favourite vehicle has to be the thunderhawk gunship. The old metal model is so rare and it seems to be almost as mythical and revered as a titan. I am just getting into making my own boards, so this is the perfect inspiration for my builds!
These terrain builds are unmatched, the scale is so crazy! My favorite vehicle has got to be the standard dreadnought. I fell in love with it when it crushed the ork in its powerfist in the opening cinematic to Dawn of War I
Favorite vehicle WAS the Mastodon, but after building and reading about the Kratos from what we have currently, it takes the top spot as my new favorite vehicle. Love the content, and for the Warmaster!
Your work is incredibly inspiring and has given me ideas galore! My favourite vehicle is the stormbird but the Spartan is pretty cool, and who doesn’t love a little mk1 rhino
Land raider - always and forever. It is such an iconic vehicle, and super multipurpose in heresy to fit multiple roles from troop transport to fire support.
The Rhino is such a classic design, and the new Deimos kit is a great redesign/update to the kit that still feels faithful to the original. Feels weird to call it that since it's an older version in-lore, but the new kit is a great update, and anyone who's familiar with the original plastic kit can probably build it without the instructions!
Subscribed solely for your LOTR content but I have to watch these videos due to how sick this came out. My buddy is a huge Warhammer fan so I showed him this too, loved it.

i am a huge fan of the rhino, always think of it as a party bus. i plan on turning a rhino into a 'death guard ambulance' with a plague surgeon inside, try and rush it around the board to collect injured infantry and call it the Meat Wagon
Your videos are always super inspiring, the terrain builds always get my inspiring going. The Sabre Strike Tank is my favourite, Fast and Punchy is the only real way to go, plus the gun options it has seem like they'd make fun Sci-Fi noises like CHOOOM, THWEEEP or ZZZAAPAAAP!
I’ve just started listening to Know No Fear after watching your battle report it’s so good, I think the Proteus pattern Land Raider has to be my favourite Legion tank.
I dont have the need or space for gameboards as I only paint minis. But it is always a pleasure to watch talented artists such as you build these amazing boards. My favoriten vehicle are the assault bikes as I find the thought of bulky space marines on "tiny" bikes funny, even if they are in scale with the models.
Really enjoying your narrative campaign, waiting for the next episode :) My favourite Space Marine vehicle is by far the Mastodon, delivering about 40 Marines into the heat of the battle and melting battlements.
The favorite space marine vehicle has got to be Land Raiders. Just those big behemoth transport tanks are so darn cool. And if they are chaosified with trophies and spikes they are even cooler :)
Amazing video! Your terrain is incredible and inspiring, and the HH content is the best narrative content out there! Also maybe the Sicaran? Perhaps the Fellblade! There are so many good options!
Honorable mention is probably Land's Raider - not the generic one, the highly customized personal vehicle Arkhan Land used in Master of Mankind. Technically counts as a space marine vehicle because The Bringer of Sorrow rode in it.
@Zorpazorp I never really watched battle reports before but your series is totally awesome! My favorite space marine vehicle is probably the land raider. I just love the idea of an enormous apc with lazcannons or flamers running through enemy lines.
Great terrain I wish I was any where near this good but id love to see a nice spartan tank just cruising across the battlefield ready to unleash its troops.
It's amazing how an iconic looking city like Minas Tirith can be made to fit into the 40k universe with a few key tweaks. As for vehicles, I've said it before and I'll say it again, the Leman Russ is my favourite, just so iconic.
Watched the livestream of you converting this and never twigged it was for space marines! Favourite is the Stormraven, because I love the mental image of it swooping in with a dreadnought slung underneath. I keep trying to make it work in game, and it keeps on letting me down.
This board has to be the best i have ever seen. My favourite space marine vehicle has to be the CHAPLAIN VENERABLE DREADNOUGHT! it is weird and wacky but fits so well in the universe
Its definitely really cool that you could take some of the terrain and then it was modular enough to work it in a new layout, with new things for a completely different setting. And the Contemptor Dread/Repulsor executionaer are still my favorite SM vehicles, though the new kratos is looking really really good.
Love the build. So frickin cool. Fav Space marine tank would have to be the Sicarrian and it's variants. I love the futuristic yet completely impractical design.
Great work, I am really enjoying this series. My favourite vehicle remains the humble land-speed, especially the "totally not a deodorant bottle" design lifted from 2nd 40K for the newer forgeworld Horus Heresy designs.
Amazing transformation. That battle report was freaking epic! Can't wait to see more! Love the Sicaran. There's something about the design that really speaks to me!
The amount of awesomeness in the tables you create is always a sight to behold, you’ll always be a legendary hobbyist in my book! My favorite HH vehicle is the Kratos Heavy Battle Tank, it just feels like the perfect battle tank for the SM, I know my AL love the Volkite as well plus even if you go with the anti-infantry Volkite you can still have quad las cannons to make sure it’s potent against armor, the versatility of this new beast is not to be underestimated, I fully intend to hopefully eventually get three of these bad boys to support my AL on the field in both 30K and 40K where I’ll be running them as a Loyalist Chapter! Thank you for the giveaway opportunity!
@@Zorpazorp That’s awesome! I’d love to see them fielded in the future, amazing work on the Calth campaign absolutely amazing I look forward to seeing yours and Broadswords next additions to the series! You definitely did amazingly well when my fiancé came and watched with me, she thought all the effects and voice lines made it really interesting and engaging!
Your scenery-making-magic is giving me plenty tips for building some humble kill team terrain. The dreadnought is probably my favourite vehicle, but the Sicarian (especially the Arcus) has started to grow on me.
Amazing and inspiring, as always mate! Favorite vehicle? Sicaran. I am so glad it's coming in plastic, as the resin one could be a bit finicky to work with.
Favourite vehicle has to be the land raider proteus. I started collecting 40K in 2nd Ed but couldn’t get my hands on a land raider until they released the new kit in 3rd. Up until that point owning a land raider was just a boxy fever dream. Terrain looks great, really clever way of using other terrain pieces!
Mate you’re the man responsible for making me want to start making a city board to display the mighty forth legion! So the best space marine vehicle has to be the trusty vindicator, how else can any self respecting marine break the defences of the imperium…I mean enemies of the emperor….can’t wait to help out on Istivan 3 ;)
Loved seeing the evolution of Minas-Numinas, especially having already watched the (awesome) battle report - it's like the behind the scenes of LotR, seeing the development of the bigatures, after having watched the films! Awesome work as usual Lachy. We talked about this already, and land raiders are the bomb 🤟
You can never go wrong with a Predator Tank, it can just do everything you need to fill in your army. AND YET. There is nothing more iconic, unsubtle (and metal boxiest of boxy) then the Land Raider.

0:26 That shot of a double handful of Jump Marines, gushing fire is great.
Blimey, there is so much work going in to these videos.
Best vehicle? The dreadclaw. If it isn't having a good day it will incinerate the passegers by opening during atmospheric re-entry.
I made a part of the kreatos tank for one of my friends and i absolutely enjoyed it. It gave a huge model kit vibe

Glad you liked it mate :)
There’s something humbling about he simple rhino, effective group transport with firepower to match. Chefs kiss

i am a huge fan of the rhino, always think of it as a party bus. i plan on turning a rhino into a 'death guard ambulance' with a plague surgeon inside, try and rush it around the board to collect injured infantry and call it the Meat Wagon
Hell yeah Alan!!!
Thank you buddy!
Absolutley love the space marine thunderhawk! Dropping off and picking up squads of marines in the middle of the action is very cinematic!
Honorable mention is probably Land's Raider - not the generic one, the highly customized personal vehicle Arkhan Land used in Master of Mankind. Technically counts as a space marine vehicle because The Bringer of Sorrow rode in it.
Favourite vehicle? Contemptor dreadnoughts. Such great canvases for painting.
@Zorpazorp I never really watched battle reports before but your series is totally awesome!
My favorite space marine vehicle is probably the land raider. I just love the idea of an enormous apc with lazcannons or flamers running through enemy lines.
Thank you PArker! I'm the same, can't watch most batreps, so I made a batrep that I'd enjoy!
It's a really beautiful terrain. I really want to see it in a full battle.
And my favoutite vehicle is the contemptor dreadnought.
You are an absolute wizard when it comes to your terrain, wish I even had a quarter of your skill
Cheers Mikey!
I love the Deimos pattern Rhino. Rhino, for me is such a classic that I cannot help but to sneak it into any battle.
gotta say that the good old rhino is my favorite marine vehicle, perfect for ferrying troops across the open expamce of the bridge
Watched the livestream of you converting this and never twigged it was for space marines! Favourite is the Stormraven, because I love the mental image of it swooping in with a dreadnought slung underneath. I keep trying to make it work in game, and it keeps on letting me down.
Inspiring work as always, Lockey!! I might have to read Know No Fear next!
Thanks buddy! Use my trial link and you can get it for free on Audible if you don't have it already
Love your channel. It's really stepped up to the next level. Keep up the good work matey
Glad you enjoy it!
Ooooooooooooooh spicy dude! I've got 2k of AL myself just waiting for some reinforcement, I might have to take your advice!
Vindicators! Big template, big damage. Love the terrain work, will be stealing plenty of ideas (once I’ve got some space)
Great use of the Minas Tirith board.
I've always liked the Sicaran. I really like the shape of it.
Amazing and inspiring, as always mate! Favorite vehicle? Sicaran. I am so glad it's coming in plastic, as the resin one could be a bit finicky to work with.
Please, continue with the full body of Minas Tirith. Its gonna be the best structure
It's got to be the Deimos Predator! If something is sticking around since the great crusade then there's a reason!
If you don’t drop a fellblade from the sky in one of these batreps, you‘re doing it wrong. Greatest moment in the novel!
Great use of terrain across multi game systems! Love the humble Rhino :)
Happy to have that title!
new vehicle i can't wait for: the plastic sicaran!
super cool to see you reusing this terrain in a new modular system!
The Sicaran Battle tank has been my favorite for awhile. So excited to see it in plastic.
You can never go wrong with a Predator Tank, it can just do everything you need to fill in your army.
AND YET.
There is nothing more iconic, unsubtle (and metal boxiest of boxy) then the Land Raider.
Superb board. definitely can’t wait to see more heresy stuff. the rhino is just the best vehicle.
i've always loved the brutal simplicity of the vindicator - very grimdark!
Brilliant to see how all these changes came together.
For marines its always gotta be the Land Raider. No vehicle screams space marines more!
My current favorite Space Marine vehicle is the Typhon because sometimes you just need to level city blocks on building at a time.
Great to see how you have re-used and recycled existing terrain.
My favourite vehicle is the Sicarian battle tank, great fire power and looks awesome.
Favourite marine vehicle? It is the humble Rhino.
So versatile that half of the armoury is just a pimped up Rhino.
