- With the arrival of the plastic Deimos Rhino, Sicaran and Spartan for the Horus Heresy, I can't help but hope that some of the other variants of these awesome vehicles might become just a bit more... affordable.

When the Spartan tank comes out in plastic they will wait until the sales drop down, then they will add a gun sprue and Rebox inventory. This will give the players a reason to buy the tank again.
I don’t think the resin tanks, especially the predators will be cheaper, i hope theyll be moved to fully plastic kits soon enough
When they first made the plastic Baneblade they removed all the resin versions of it and left the upgrade kits on the website at a cheaper cost. Whether they do that again I don't know because that was over a decade ago.
Given how the plastic Baneblade was adapted, I'd be very surprised if they didn't do add on kits
I think the variants of the Sicaran, Rhino and Spartan will eventually be available in plastic but they are keeping the resin for the time being due to them staging out the releases to multiple staggered waves. it would make it easier to make the molds if they spread it out over time.
They need to just get rid of forgeworld - the units aren't properly supported, they're too expensive and to be honest, FW resin is such lower quality than any other provider, constantly warped, they send the wrong stuff frequently, list goes on and on ...
I really hope this is a return to resin upgrades to plastic models. It's what I used to love about FW so much when I first started out.
I read rumours about plastic deimos predator and vindicators, so hopefully that will be true.

Very interesting video. GW will do whatever makes them the most profit. I can see plastic kits at higher prices coming out which is disappointing.
They’ll probably do the same as the Knights, where one kit makes 2 or 3 variants. So anything with a hull mounted gun could be 1 kit & turret another.
As long as the Spartan isn’t the price of a knight I’m good.
The rhinos is cheaper than the price increased 40k rhino so that’s some not so terrible news.
Considering their pricing for HH so far, I think a Spartan would probably be around the same as a Land Raider

When we get a look at the Sicaran sprues, it'll be interesting to see how the sprues are divided. I'm assuming the turret will be separate for the Omega, Punisher and Arcus, but I'm curious if the mid section of the tank will be a separate sprue for the Venator.
Mate, all I’ll say is I hope you’re right. They can even keep the same profit margin and sell it cheaper this way!

It'll become clear once the plastic Sicaran is launched. If they have designed the turret ring to share compatability with the resin kit then we may see the variants be a resin turret on a plastic hull. Allowing them to cease making resin Sicaran hulls and just toss a bag of resin turret in with a plastic kit. Less to cast, less weight to ship, less to go wrong (e.g. warping). Overall better for their business and the customer.
If the new kit doesn't play nice with the old turrets then they'll need to decide between keeping the resin tank in production versus cutting a mould for additional sprues to make the variants in plastic.
Aside from price drops the one thing Forge World need to do is make much better build instructions, like those on mainline GW.
Don't care if they're not on fancy paper they just need to much clearer and easy to follow
Unfortunately GW will never reduce prices as it "Devalues the product" or so I have been told.

They did it when the Baneblade was first released in plastic, but that was over a decade ago.
By now we should all know that "cheaper cost to make" means "higher profit margins for GW" and not "lower prices".
Assuming the predator is going to be a plastic model soon enough. At this point with the Rhino already in plastic, it's 1 extra sprue they can add to the rhino kit and sell for a bunch more.
They might well just keep the resin versions until the moulds get too tired and need replacement, then they either retire them or do upgrade sprues for the plastic kit mto from the gw store. This would be the easiest way to do it. Whether they would is an entirely different thing.
I kinda wish that predator infernus was available for 40k and given as a unit for the salamanders. Giving some of the other chapters some more options would be nice.
I'll be impressed if GW even make the basic vehicles cheaper than their replaced FW kits.
I can see a whole lot of sisters players running the Deimos pattern instead, considering the price difference.
I like resin and my TT collection is equal parts metal, Resin and plastic it's just GW sucks at it. I get you though and like why was there multible kits in the first place? They could have been $20-30 upgrade biit from the get go... So yes atleast making them upgrade bits for the plastic models just makes sense if not having 1 big box of all the plastic upgrade bits for $30 or so.
Oh it won't matter they "might" come out slightly cheaper until the next annual two per year price increases

This is GW we are talking about they love money..... Prices don't go down, they either stay the same or go up....
ther is about 47 to 37 kits that need rules in 40k most of it is mechanicus. as room is that all kits of hh is finaly getting 40k rules .... as the new tank is geting 40k rules some time after the 18 of the month when the box gets releace. if i can finde it ther was an order way bak in 2014-15 when the ceo change over for full plastic. resin is going to keep being in produdition tell it finaly cracks..
I'd say give it 6 months and they'll have the conversion kits for all tanks as the standard plastic will fly off the shelves fast

I'm just fucking mad that the age of darkness box was supposed to cost 180GBP, but in New Zealand it's the equivalent of 300GBP. What the fuck games workshop, I was going to buy this...
More speciliazed plastic is needed to prevent new heresy armies all looking the same, my hopes:
1. Scimitar Jetbikes. This needs to happen for White Scar and Ravenwing armies to become accessible, as currently a jetbike army costs as much as as a few grand.
2. All Sicaran variants
3. Leviathan Dreadnaught
4. Javelin Landspeeders
the leviathan at least has a good shot, since it was taken off FW with the rest of the stuff going plastic.
Plastic Leviathan was revealed today, and it was also removed from FW a few weeks ago (the legion specific ones are still there)
The more they release in plastic, the more forge world can focus on the bigger stuff.

With space marines being as big as they are sale wise I’m surprised GW hasn’t released a line of chapter serfs. I mean there are only so many space marines available to fight at one time. They can’t crew all their ships defend their home planet and deploy in full chapter strength all at once. Sure they have the guard and imperial navy but I’m sure they would want their own people. Plus if they create a line of chapter serf models it’s easy to make a kit to convert them to cultists for chaos players
There are several free STL files that are highly detailed. I don't feel even a little bit bad for printing my 30K tanks; because the 3D printing hobby is not going to convince GW to make their prices more affordable for the common gamers.
40% profit has been achieved and maintained.
As long as 'fools' and their money continue to be so easily parted, GW will continue to be excessively greedy.

I think they might swap out the bodies of certain tanks to cut the costs of resin moulds but... this is FW and logic is... used sparingly
If GW don’t take advantage of using the plastic vehicles as a base for the other variants, I’m sure the 3rd party or 3d printer community will 👍

Resin for the most part isnt as easy to work with as plastic because its molds are different, there are no further difficulties with working with resin than the washing of it and fixing slight warping ...as well as potential dust ..its really not a big deal to anyone of age that FW recommends to use it ..the crispness of detail more than makes up for these minor annoyances.
Saying that, the mastodon was pretty unforgiving.
Think its best to see what its like to go together, before putting all of our faith and praise in a newly made plastic tank.Again, the cost of the box negates half of the accessibility people are saying this set brings.
Nope. For the price FW charge, I expect absolute perfection. No warping, no bubbles, no mould lines, no residual mould release fluid, absolutely no flaws whatsoever. I certainly don't expect pre-production grade casts made from resin that hasn't even been mixed correctly. I can do better than that in my own garden.
I'm expecting them to be the same price as the FW options, because GW.

If the only official option is Forge World i will go to 3rd party or not get it at all. I think that is what vote with your valet means

Sure, GW will sell the plastic kits at a discount compared to resin, but GW is going to blatantly GW, and use the FW prices to justify selling the new plastic kits for more money than they would otherwise cost.
Except we already know that's not the case because the new Deimos Rhino is considerably cheaper than the resin version, and is even cheaper than the existing current plastic Rhino.
The Deimos Rhino is going to retail for £28. The current plastic Rhino is £30 and the SoB Rhino is £35.

Just want the Spartan. Not interested in the Horus Heresy figures so won't be buying the box set just to get the Spartan. Same goes for Kill Team Moloch. Would like to get the upgrade Marines sprue but not shelling out £125 just for that sprue. Would buy an upgrade sprue plus another Infiltrator box of Marines. As it stands GW have lost over £200 in sales where they could have made at least, say, £50 with no effort

Why would they provide the turrets separately? they would lose money!
At least in their mind maybe but even if you got all the turrets separately, it would make up the cost of another tank ...so if people wont fish out the cost for a whole other tank then GW still makes more money than currently ...40 percent of something is better than 100 percent of nothing.
