Gondors has got to be the best faction in lotr. The feeling of defeat and imminent danger held by them shows the true helplessness of the situation as well as the medieval knight style mixed in with fantasy aesthetic is a recipe for greatness.
For me it’s Rohan. Cavalry is my jam. I grew up wanting to ride horses and be a knight atop a mighty steed riding to battle. I unfortunately am 6 foot 4, therefore you can imagine I never got into horse riding too much. After high school I joined the Army and even then, Cavalry was my calling. I enlisted as a Cavalry Scout in the Army to keep those roots back to the knights of old, except then I was riding large metal horses of war with cannon and machine guns rather than the traditional horses knights rode with their swords. So Rohans the jam. Speed and honor. Death before dismount!!
I'd have to say my favorite faction is Rohan for kind of an odd reason. It shows how much more excited Tolkien was to realize his vision of Middle Earth rather than getting bogged down in historical accuracy. See, Rohan's aesthetic is off of 11th century Anglo-Saxons but with one huge difference in that they ride these big, heavy war horses. As a medievalist, Tolkien would have absolutely known that those large war horses wouldn't have been introduced to Europe for another 300 to 400 years, but he rolled with it because it fit his creative vision perfectly. The reason Lord of the Rings is so great, I think, is because Tolkien both had this rich background in historical literature but was also willing to completely ignore fiddly little details in favor of creating a great story. As a writer and armchair medievalist, I find it deeply inspiring.
I love Gondor, and Mordor, super iconic factions. However, Rohan is my favorite. I love the horse anesthetic, and that speech on Pelanor Fields, super awesome moment.
Gondor and all the alliances. I just love Dol Amroth and prince Imrahil and their wonderful armor design. It influenced my future choices, somehow I always tend to pick blue themed armies haha
I also had Gondorians with Faramir and the Knights of Minas Tirith, actually I have them somewhere in the attic. I also had Eowin, because Faramir needs his strong other. I always liked the Eaternlings from the look with the scaled Armor though.
I've always been fascinated by the Uruk-hai of Isengard, just the way their armour and weapons look, plus the fact that they are a key part in my favourite (and saddest) scene, that being Boromir's last stand. Great video as always, keep it up!
Rivendell (and Lindon) will always be my favourite faction, as it has been since I for the first time watched that wonderful prologue scene. The skill of the Elves, their grace, the design (oh my god the design), the characters, and the existential struggle of the elves in Middle-earth between their dwelling livelihoods absent of mortal worries (like time) and the need to act and do better by the world. I love them
Kazad-dum. I have always loved the mysterious nature of the dwarves, ever since seeing Moria for the first in the Fellowship. I'm loving see Moria in its prime in the amazon series, no pun intended. Excited to see what you can make for a Moria board in the future, and this Osgiliath looks promising. Keep up the good work, you have inspired me and many others to get back into the hobby and create awesome boards of our own. Cheers
I love the easterlings the most because the scene in two towers where they march into the black gates and when you see them in return of the king when they charge though the gates with the orks
I really love Rohan, I've been ito horseriding ever since I was a child so the combination of the "viking" aesthetic and beautiful horses was a total hit at first sight ! Also the cavalry charges are some of the most epic moments in all the flms
Rohan has to be a favorite- the sheer variety available is so fun. Also very fun to kitbash around with. It's always such a journey watching your videos- I've just gotta hop up and craft something every time. Inspiring!
My favourite faction has to be The Easterlings (Specifically the Dragon Cults), ive always loved the idea of this Warrior culture in the far reaches of the East, who fell to Sauron's influence. Their new models are amazing as well, finally making them really strong and competitive and really fleshing out their culture and martial prowess! Also they can take pet drakes 10/10 amazing
Gondor. As Pipen has always been my favorite hobbit and doesn't get enough love from the community and I always loved how his character developed while he was there.
This is coming out great. Can't wait for the big resin pour! My favorite faction? Now, I don't play Middle Earth(yet), because I am just swamped with 40k and heresy (more mk 6... yay!) but Mordor is calling to me. I'd love to play some orcs, and they look like a joy to paint- even if they're tinier then what I'm used to.
I'd have to go with Mordor as my favourite faction! There's something about the classic fantasy archetype of the evil dark lord, their lieutenants, and the swarms of corrupt, cruel minions. Besides, every campaign needs a good villain, so why not ham it up and go full dark lord yourself?
Been a dwarven army sucker since LOTR movie 1 the iron asthetic. Your videos have brought all of us an outlet to release and enjoy ourselves with your enthusiasm. Would be a long shot but would love to get into this side of GW through your outlet. Thank you for all you do, your enthusiasm and bring happy outlook to us all. Just thank you.
Rohan is by far my favourite faction in Middle Earth!!! The whole idea of riding into battle on your noble steed looking similar to a Viking is what's made these my favourites. They are a very visual army and are lead by an amazing king too, Theoden.
That's looking incredible! In terms of favourite faction that's probably Moria Goblins for me. I love how they're portrayed in the fellowship, and that their domain is so large you can go days without seeing them provided you don't make too much noise (looking at you Pip!), plus who doesn't love a Balrog?
So glad to see more of this project, everything about Gondor immediately have my interest :) asking me which is my favorite is a stupid question accordningly my local club and MESBG Sweden as I'm know as the "Minas Tirith dude" and what sold me iniatly was both Boromir's noble sacrifice and the scene of Minas Tirith in Return of the King.
Great video as always. My favourite faction is the Ents, I loved them marching on Isengard and capturing. I've just finished building Treebeard and will start gathering an Isengard force after a couple more Ents
My favourite is Rohan, they were the first faction I started to collect over 15 years ago. I love the rich lore attached with Rohan and the variety of hero’s available plus smashing face with a cav charge every now and again is always fun.
Hi Lachie! Love your content. For me my favourite faction has to be Rohan. I absolutely love the charge of the Rohirrim in the Pelennor Fields, such a cinematic moment, always gives me the chills!
I'm really glad to see those Osgilliath buildings again. I have still not completely recovered from the video where You had an axe in Your hand and a "Here's Johnny" look one Your face, with the Osgilliath board in the background. Luckily it was not about annihilation but restructuring, and man does it look great.
Favourite faction? Rivendell! Always loved the last of the Noldors still fighting a war that they can't really win for themselves. Also, the prologue of the Fellowship really got me into this world, and seeing the whole army of the High King fighting on the plains of Gorgoroth is a sight so inspiring it always leads me to paint other models. Apart from that, I really like all the factions involved at Helm's deep. It was the Heroes of Helm's deep box who got me into this hobby as a whole, even if my first contact with it was with the magazine.
Always loved the Easterlings and have been playing them for about 8 years! With the most recent release I've been so excited to get back into some games post COVID with my new models and show how the gleaming horde can really do some work on the tabletop!
I love watching your videos; watching the Lord of the Rings Battle Series has really helped the last few months as I've been going through some really ruff times. It also helped me regain my love for wargaming after years of not playing due to toxic friendship; I've finally purchased my first minis, Soldiers of Gondor. When I was younger, and life was easier, I used to collect the forces of Gondor; aside from loving the aesthetic and talking my friends into cosplaying as Gondor Soldiers, cardboard armour, we would also have reenacted the Siege of Minas Tirith and Battle of Osgiliath :)
Awesome work bro! So inspiring! Looking forward to the mega resin pour! Favourite faction has to be Isengard. The Uruk’s plate armour has always been so cool, and their siege on helms deep made my little 10 year old boots quiver in the cinema
I love how massive this project is shaping up. Best faction is a toss up between Rohan and Isengard. Rohan because I love the anglo saxon themes mixed with light to medium cavlary riders. Isengard because Urak-hai are frankly so badass looking and playiong the evil faction is also fun. But since you said one faction it goes to Rohan because the scene in the movies with Theoden and the Rohirrim charging into to save Minis Tirth is to this day one of my favourite movie scenes of all time. The music, the speech, the effects. Incredible and if I ever collect enough models I will like you commit to a massive build / game to re-enact it!
Favourite faction is Gondor. Ever since I first saw the films I fell in love with that armour and the rangers of Ithilien have basically set the tone for fantasy ranger costumes in stone ever since.
I would say my favourite faction is Angmar as it has unique gameplay (due to lots of magic) and thematicly it really fits my aesthetic taste (crossover of grim north and necromancy vibes). Lorewise it's also very temting to recreate such a powerful and shrouded in mistery kingdom as Angmar. And the oponents for the faction are my second and third faourite factions - Dunedains and the Rivendell. So everything really comes together perfectly for me with this one. Thanks for your work, ZZ!
Rohan - my favourite faction because of the riders and Aragorn linking with them throughout his journey of becoming King, showed his true progression. Eomer and Theodens new models also rock!
Fantastic game board. My favourite faction would be Rohan. The charge of the Rohirrim on the fields of Pellennor and breaking the siege of Helm's Deep were some of the most epic battle scenes of the films. Love the mini's and would love to recreate a large cavalry charge in a game. Keep up rhe fantastic work.
My favorite warriors are from Minath Tirith, you got so many great options and playstyles in this faction. I personaly love playing Denethor and Hurin as the main heros, add a horn to secure Denethor's bravery tests and then you can have a great number of warriors that can outnumber pretty much every army and easely secure objectives with shieldwalls and citadel gards longbows.
My favorite faction is Númenor, they stood with the Valinor, and they have kind of a sea background. I also like how the noble lines have extremely long life. Thanks for the videos. Always a good day when a new Zorp drops!! Thanks for all your hard work!
Started collecting and playing during lockdown last year. The High Elves were my faction of choice! Something I've always loved about GilGalad and the epicness of the Noldor. Mordor im slowly building up as an army to battle it. Love the channel it has helped so much in starting the hobby.
The once mighty men of Numenor for me. I just love a tale of decline. And I love how it all links back to a union of elves and men with Elrond and Elros. Awesome video, been around a while and I'm looking forward to seeing this beast of a board come to fruition.
My favorite factions are Gondor and its fiefdoms first and then Isengard. There is something majestic about Gondor style (architecture and armours), but the brutal efficiency of the Uruk is something I really enjoy too.
Rohan has always been my favorite. The Ride of the Rohirrim, either in the book or the films, always gets me right in the feels. Been thining about starting a Rohan army for a while.
Rivendell and Numenor, they have been my favourite faction since I started playing since the magazine was released all those years ago. I love what elves bring to the story and how they are in battle!
Has to be Isengard- Christopher Lee's portrayal of Saruman was incredible and he even convinved me as a kid watching the movies that I should side with him! Now using the uruk hai on the table just feels natural, as they feel no pain and smash through everything that comes up against them!
My favourite faction will always be Dol Amroth and the fiefdoms. They always scratch that good "noble medieval knight" itch for me, and the image of Prince Imrahil leading a thunderous cavalry charge is just *chef's kiss*
Got to be the Rohirrim. Just so many classic and memorable cinematic moments with them. The last sally fourth from Helm’s Deep to Gandalf and Éomer arriving to save the day and of course the awesome charge on the Pelenor. Goosebumps every time.
My favourite faction would have to be the Dunedain, Rangers of the North. The chapter of The Return of the King, The Battle of the Pelennor, in which Aragorn arrives leading his kin-folk is just such a great piece of story telling. Particularly the part when the Soldiers of Gondor see the Black Ships coming up the Anduin and despair, only to then be filled with utter joy and relief as the King’s banner is unfurled by Halbarad. The Stars of Arnor and the Tree of Gondor. Awesome stuff.
Gondor are my favourite faction. I just love that it has basically been this kingdom of men that’s been holding back the forces of Sauron without any help
My fav faction is definitely Isengard. Uruk-hai are one of the coolest creations I have ever seen in a film and I have never seen a concept that is as cool as them, their armor is sooo iconic. Good luck to everyone entering and great job with the board!
Definitely Gondor. When I read the books as a kid the White City, the history, up against impossible odds, just filled my imagination. Of course they were the first models I bought!
Rohan is my favorite faction! Currently planning a Helm's Deep board for my group so it's a perfect way to incorporate my team! Love your videos! Keep em coming!!!
My favourite faction has always been the Easterlings - can’t wait to grab one of those Dragon Emperor Palanquins! I was first grabbed by their armour style and then read into their background and loved them
The knights of Dol Amroth are easily my favourite minifigs, so I'd say the fiefdoms are my favourite faction. Love how the board is coming together, and good luck with the move to NZ.
The Shire! Lovely selection of hero models, and great opportunities to paint a variety of bright colours. We do need some plastic hobbit militia though, imagine a shire battlehost…
My Favorite faction is, The Fiefdoms I love pikes and Knights, and Dol Amroth has the best of both! The swan knights have been some of if not my favorite knight models for a very long time! I love running them with my Gondor forces as a mounted force to sweep in and save the men of Gondor from any questionable tactical decisions I make lol! Great Videos as always tho keep up the great work!!!
An easy fav. I've always been in awe of Mordor and Angmar. The sheer scale of their armies and the use of so many different Trolls. Loved them as a child and still love them now. Incredible content as always. I'm consistently blown away by the skill put in to these builds. Please keep it up and wishing you the best and success in Middle Earth
It’s very difficult to choose a favourite faction when there is such a large amount of faction to love, but I have to choose Rohan, there is just something about the two towers movie that I absolutely adore and following Rohan from its disrepair at the beginning and slowly watching it regain its former glory, and even coming to Gondor’s aid is still I think one of the most iconic scenes, who doesn’t get chills watching that there is so much built up tension throughout the whole movies and that one scene makes it seem as if the forces of good have a fighting chance
It has to be Rohan for me. Nothing gets your hair standing on end like the sounding of hundreds of horns before and epic cavalry charge into almost certain death, but with eternal glory for the riders. Getting goosebumps even now thinking about it!
Interesting project. So do I have to choose one, I think I’d like the Rivendell elves! Just love how they look in the intro to the first film led by Elrond! That cinematic air is immortal.
Love the Dúnedain lore and history, pivotal to the whole setting, definitely think ruins harking back to the glory days would make fantastic skirmish boards, in awe of the might scale you work to!
I'll go with Lorien, I simply love the old metal elves of Haldir's reinforcements for Helm's Deep You're an absolute madman, living the dream building all this stunning stuff and thanks for sharing it with us. I have watched every minute of your content and absolutely loved every single bit of it - thanks!
Isengard is my favourite faction. Can’t beat the scene in two towers of 10000 Uruk-hai marching on helms deep! Plus meats back on the menu boys! Your videos are fantastic. Has made me get back into collecting lord of the rings minis. Still have all my battle games in middle earth magazine hidden away at my parents house. Really need to get them back and touch them up
Just got into MESBG a couple months ago, starting out with a Khazad Dum army. Whilst I love dwarves in the LOTR genre, I think my favourite faction has to be Fiefdoms. The variety of different possible factions, whether they have models or not, just allows to make such an interesting and varied army. Dol Amroth Swan Knights are simply amazing as well, its such a shame that they didn't get any action in the films...
Uruk Hai are my fav faction, because despite their gruff exterior, the remarks about meat being on a menu (and knowing what a menu is) implies theyre connoisseurs of fine dining.
For the favorite faction, its hard to move past Rohan. That aesthetic, loyal to the end with none of the abandonment of the elves, isolationism of the dwarves, or corruption of Gondor. Plus they're hella fun to play. EDIT: Maybe you could have leaned into the edging between the boards being visible and made it a culvert? A bit of terrain variety and a place to create cover and chokepoints by placing down removable bridges and paths over it?
Super excited for the resin pour! This board is coming together really nicely! My favourite faction is Mordor because there are just so many options to play with
Loving these videos! This board is going to look amazing when finished. My favourite faction in middle earth has always been Rohan. Theodens speech on the pellenor send shivers down my back no matter how many times I read or watch it.
My favorite faction is either isengard or gondor. I love the classic designs gondor has, but something about the Uruk's marching and chanting "URUK-HAI" on repeat was just so captivating to me.
Looks like this'll be another great build. Your live stream of the new middle earth box release actually got me interested starting a MESBG army. If I have to choose I'd have to go with Rohan. Honourable men on mighty steeds, masters at speedy assaults. Sounds almost like my White Scars! Would be a fun hobby project.
My favorite faction is Rohan followed by Gondor. This is driven by their Viking feel and the fact that my heritage is Norwegian as I always navigate towards Viking themes. But I also loved Gondor after seeing the return of the king in theaters. I absolutely love the visuals of return of the king and the epic battles. The flooded city, the absolutely bonkers siege. It’s just incredible.
I love moria goblins. Just sheer number overwhelming your opponents. Always trying to big brain your way into getting traps is just fun. Then the fun role playing of being an adorable little gobbo trying to stab your knees and steal all your shiny possessions.
This is so awesome, I always love seeing this project returned to as a mainstay of the channel! For the giveaway, I've gotta say, Mordor is my favourite. I've been playing this game since the Balins Tomb starter set came out, and since then I've been slowly building up a GIANT Mordor army, and yet I somehow still dont own a single Mordor Orcs haha. Morannon's out the ears, but that Battlehost looks awesome, I somehow still need every single piece in it even after all these years. My lists are.. Well they're really weird given how eclectic my collection is.
That's an awesome board mate, really wish i could see one of your work in person. My favourite faction has to be mordor, there's something about the armor that always amazed me in the minis, even if i never played a game of Lotr
When applying the texture compound to the foam board if you were to use a wallpaper Templer. It’s for removing Wallpaper. It’s a small tool you hold kind of like a mouse for a computer and run it all over the wall meanwhile it’s penetrating lots of small little holes. If you were to use that it would give your foam a lot more tooth and might find better
I'd say Minas Tirith, but Isengard has a special place in my heart since the first Battle for Middle Earth videogame. I loved spawning the Balrog and ramming head on the enemy walls.
There's two factions in middle earth that compete to be my favourite. First one is the human warriors of Minas Tirith. They look fantastic even with the simplest colour scheme (which is basically "they are just covered in metal") and also look incredible with the white-ish color pattern of the gondorian ruins. The other faction are the human and elves of the last alliance. They were pretty much my introduction to fantasy, and to this day I remember how amazing they looked in the opening scenes of LOTR. I have "making a last alliance army" in my list of things to do when it comes to miniatures.
Dwarves, pre-fall of moria. I just love the aesthetic of huge monumental splendor hidden away from the world. Wonders of the world built in the deep dark is just an interesting concept.
Moria Goblins are my favorite faction! Love sending out my horde of little guys! They don't win much but they are fun to command! Great video as always! I can't wait to see some battle reports on these boards!
You are a LEGEND, absolutely love your videos and I'm so happy Osgiliath is back on the menu! My favourite faction is Rohan. I started the hobby with the Two Towers box set and since then the Horse lords have been my favourite. Absolutely love Éomer!
Rohan is absolutely my favorite faction, both before and after i came across MESBG, especially Eomer. Everyone was so hyped on the fellowship, they completely forgot the other strong characters, Eomers banishment in the two towers and then him coming to aid the Hornburg is just pure perfectness.
Rohan because it was my first starter box I got when I was 14 at a borders book store and it introduced me to the world of miniature gaming, also horse combat is amazing and their entire esthetic is so magical and realistic as a nation
Another great build. When the container ship captain carrying your stuff to NZ sees your battle boards “We’re gonna need a bigger boat!” Favourite faction has to be Rohan; fearless and noble to the end
My favourite faction has to be the Easterlings- Mumaks, Serpent Riders, Corsairs and Kharna Assassins and everything else... I just love the aesthetic and EVERYTHING
Incredible work as always Lachy! Really looking forward to seeing what you can do with the new plastic ruins My favourite faction is Rivendell - elrond and glorfindel are such interesting characters and I love the elven aesthetic. Plus Rivendell Knights are just cool haha
My favorite faction has to be Khazad-Dum, not necessarily the best in the game, but I'm a dwarf at heart. I have been loving all these mega boards you have been doing, I've been watching almost every video since the original Osgiliath and I can say that your beautiful boards dioramas have renewed my interest in the hobby and convinced me to start work on some boards of my own.
This is looking incredible man. I love these updates. Wish my buds were into this here in the US as I'd love to play but watching your battle reports will do for now. Gondor is my favorite so would love to win that battle pack. Always loved the architecture and overall look of their cites. I had a weird fascination with the ruined look of Osgiliath as well and wish we got more time there in PJ's films. Regardless, cannot wait to see this final board completed. Your work is so dope.
Awesome board work once again! And for a favorite faction, I’ve always liked Isenguard and the Easterlings. Both the designs and type of units always had me interested.
Dol Amroth is my favourite faction, they are so diverse in units and their lore is so interesting. they also have an ire of mystery about them as they are not featured much, Highland warriors mixed with saxon infantry and robin hood styled rangers, followed by their bright steel clad cavalry

...and by mildly I mean extremely.
I’m gonna love this project!!!
Do you have a link for Android too? The game looks awesome, but the link is only for the Apple App Store.
Do not fear the resin ! For fear is the mind killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. (Ooops wrong saga)
Ever thought of making the boarder between the boards a open street gutter?
@@Dressk HAHAHAHA but an almost equally amazing one.
I could watch you carve bricks and make stairways for days
Careful, I'll make Amber put you on a plane next year and you can watch me carve bricks on top of Edoras ;)
Gondors has got to be the best faction in lotr. The feeling of defeat and imminent danger held by them shows the true helplessness of the situation as well as the medieval knight style mixed in with fantasy aesthetic is a recipe for greatness.
It also has slight roman tones with its architecture.
Ur cool
Hehe agreed
L take
Nah i feel gondor is too white for my likiong
For me it’s Rohan.

That sums up my philosophy as an amateur game designer, creative writer and historian lol

10/10 amazing
They make for some amazing conversions too.
Gondor. As Pipen has always been my favorite hobbit and doesn't get enough love from the community and I always loved how his character developed while he was there.
Gondor for me, I love the way their armour and cities look and that they are the first line of defence against the armies of Mordor. 😊

Rohan is my favorite faction! Love this project- what joy it would be to game in this build! Thanks for this fun and informative video!
You can never have too many Uruk Hai. Isengard and Rohan are my favourite, just because I love the battle at helm's deep so much.
My favourite faction are the Rohirrim! The charge scene on the movies, with the monologue from Theoden, always give me the chills!
As always, I love this madness. The Riders of Rohan have been my absolute favorite from the moment they charged the Uruk's at Helms Deep.
Would like some plastic Hobbit Militia too!
The potential for funny improvised weapons is right there!
Rohan has always been my favorite. The beautifully done cavalry charge scenes in the movies always gave me chills, as well as their music.
Love the Dúnedain lore and history, pivotal to the whole setting, definitely think ruins harking back to the glory days would make fantastic skirmish boards, in awe of the might scale you work to!
I'll go with Lorien, I simply love the old metal elves of Haldir's reinforcements for Helm's Deep
You're an absolute madman, living the dream building all this stunning stuff and thanks for sharing it with us.
So good to see some epic MESBG builds back on Zorp! 😀 My favourite faction has to be the original Khazad Dum dwarves!
My favourite faction is Mordor because there are just so many options to play with
Got to love a bit of Gondor! That edging works so well. Making a feature of the join :)
Gonna have to go with Rohan for my fav. "Ride to Ruin, and the world's ending!"
I still get chills.
The Dwarves of the Iron Hills. Seeing them come over the ridge in Battle of the Five Armies was just too cool a moment when I saw it the first time.
Rohan is absolutely my favorite faction, both before and after i came across MESBG, especially Eomer. Everyone was so hyped on the fellowship, they completely forgot the other strong characters, Eomers banishment in the two towers and then him coming to aid the Hornburg is just pure perfectness.
I've always loved the organized army feel so Gondor and the Uruk-Hai of Isengard have always been my favorite
Fantastic work! I'd go with Mirkwood elves, halls of Thranduil! Love the woodland astetic!
Really looking forward to seeing what you can do with the new plastic ruins
My favourite faction is Rivendell - elrond and glorfindel are such interesting characters and I love the elven aesthetic.
