This is brilliant stuff. I can imagine some people will moan about sharing marks etc but ignore them. Really positive sharing of knowledge and information. Perfect for travelling anglers. Would love to help contribute!
Thank you for your comments and positivity SeaAngler magazine used to provide a mark guide every month and this video only shares enough information to get started. This is no secret mark and it will not be flooded with anglers . As seasoned Anglers know it’s the combination of tide , weather , previous conditions, lures, barometric pressure, river conditions, moon phase tide phase ect , offshore conditions , local winds ect ect. Again thanks for your comments much appreciated.
Great video thank you. Seaton looks nice from what you shared. So nice that someone takes the time to put something together like this, so informative to those who may like to try fishing at Seaton. Keep ‘em coming 👍
Been watching and subscribed for a few years now. Love your videos. Not done any fishing for three years but got my rods out yesterday and practiced tying different lines together. Was never good at it but worse with arthritic fingers! Even went on the park today practice casting. Would love to have a go again soon. 😊
So many happy memories from this video . I used to camp on axmouth campsite on the bend next to the estuary . It’s one of the most beautiful places in the uk I’m my opinion . I used to trot the estuary on the rise and catch mullet on bread . Then also had bass on the river mouth on semi surface lutes retrieved quickly . Tight lines 🌞🎣🎣
My local venue. When you looked east and said something like "there must be potential for bass here".. Yes! I caught my pb bass there. East of the river mouth is fairly rough ground, whereas the west (including Seaton beach) is fairly clean. The beach is a much loved beachcasting venue and can throw up a huge variety of fish. Chris in the tackle shop is a very helpful bloke and the shop is very well stocked (sadly, apart from lrf tackle). Anyway, i subbed and look forward to seeing more of your vids..
@@SaltwaterAngler lyme Regis just down the road is a beautiful place with a very friendly tackle shop, but also quite busy due to tourists. Tried fishing there last week either side of the river mouth and Monmouth beach but blanked. Not sure if it was just me or fish not feeding or not a great mark to fish.
Cheers Mark. Lovely video again and loved the satellite footage etc. Great guide for yours truly who is planning a move to the coast next year. Thanks mate Adam
That’s great news that your moving to the coast. In terms of fishing it is so helpful to be involved in what’s going on from rumours of catches and going when conditions are good! Also having the sea is like a window , I always recommend it.
@@SaltwaterAngler I was keen to have a chat via phone if you had some time ? I haven't decided yet on location but I'm semi retired and have lots of flexibility. Is there a way to reach you ? FB messenger maybe ? Cheers.
Always shared my hot spots after being told by an old timer where to go for the best fish after repeated blanks, listened and filled a bag. Also could never catch flounder in an estuary due to crabs cleaning the hook, another old bloke walked over and put elastic over a bit of polystyrene to my line to lift my hook off the bottom, it certainly stopped most sessions being frustrating. Nice views of the area with plenty of information, great vid.
Fished that mark only last week!, no luck..stayed in Beer for the night and rented a boat off Simon the next day. Lovely coastline, fished Branscombe late afternoon for high tide, seemed to be the most productive. Great videos, subbed 👍🎣
Lovely Video, much appreciated. Was down in East Devon last week, and had a few small Bass, Mackerel and Gurnard along the coast near Branscombe. Have lost quite a few lures to the east of the river at Seaton, but decent Bass are there to be had 👍
Gutted that i didnt realise it was you. Seen a guy with a tripod walking around on that day when the 2 lads were wading in the river mouth i was fishing on the west side of the mouth . i would have come and say hi. Cracking spot, best result i ve had always been fishing the ebb. Im local and can tell you that Beer and Branscombe are really good spots too. Hoping to catch you next time.
I've fished beer plenty of black bream there and Branscombe is prolific for hounds but only ever took the kids crabbing at seaton maybe next year I'll have a good go at it there
Saltwater Angler lots of private water but I think Abbey gate would be my destination with a selection of Mepps inc a black #4 heavy speight only. Or get them on a fresh prawn first light. Any additional info is not for public consumption....a canoe is handy.lol
I'm lucky enough to live in East Devon infact my pic is of seaton I think all of the coast along here is great for kayak fishing and also branscombe wich is next to seaton pretty much can produce bull huss from the shore
I fished the river with ragworm and the crabs were relentless even cutting 30 lb black amnesia with claws. I recon they hold line with one and eat with the other 😀 no fish that day if I went there today I would use bubble and red gill type n let it float out and retrieve towards the beach 👍👍
Great tips thanks for sharing those. That bubble and Redgill can be killer , we don’t tend to use it here in Sussex so much but have used it in north Wales on pollack for good effect. Many thanks, Matt
Saltwater Angler just caught a nice 3lb bass against the flow on a black Sammy style surface lure! It does work, you just have to play it with the flow and keep it as natural as possible!
Off to Devon for a week in May.. what would I be looking for as places to lure fish ? Iv never fished the sea or anything .. no idea where to start.. I'm just waiting for the name of the place we're going to
Depends where you are going but- Facebook, UA-cam, UA-cam for the destination. Always worth calling the local tackle shop and your ears should pick up when one of the above are saying the same thing.
Yes useful in a few situations like in the kayak and when slower retrieves are needed, also mending or controlling the line in to a current. I only use mine about twice a year though !
The Enys Head between Cadgwith Cove & Poltesco (Carleon Cove) 20 minute walk from either. Gives good access to a shallow cove at low water (lure fishing for Bass) and rough ground, deep water to the front. All good for Bass, Pollock, Wrasse, Mackerel, Garfish. The weather is settling in the next couple of days, tight lines 👍
As long as people are respectful when they fish elsewhere. The mullet are a nightmare to catch. I've seen pollock, bass and dog fish come up beer end next to the steps.
Great video mate, I love Seaton beach, but it's one of those places where the fishing is either really good, or absolutely terrible. Also worth noting that on the Axmouth side, the bottom is ridiculously snaggy, so bottom fishing isn't worth doing. I learnt that lesson the hard way.
Thanks for the video. I have been scouring the maps for somewhere to go this weekend and it’s so nice to see a video of somewhere I wanted to go to of people catching fish. I am looking to get there just befor day break but the high tide will be just before that. In your experience is it worth fishing the ebb. The tides look to be very big this weekend and never get much chance to get out. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks once again.
Hi sorry for the delay, dont always get to see comments on videos.By all means you can catch on the ebb. My preference is the flood though. Your right about daylight hours somtimes the light levels trump the tide. How did it go ?
@@SaltwaterAngler hey thanks so much for the reply. It was really great to get down there and was a slightly quicker drive than expected. Coming from Stroud it seems like the closest spot for a fish. Unfortunately the water was very murky coming out of the river but there were a few other fishermen there which made me feel as though I had the right idea at least. I will definitely try that spot again on another spring tide and hope for better conditions. And maybe I will finally catch my first illusive bass. Thanks once again.
