Fantastic videos. I have just subscribed to your channel. Got a new rig 2 days a go and can’t wait to try it out and fish for bass. I’m also completely new to fishing and trying to watch all your videos to have a better understanding of what I need to be doing to catch them.

Those mackerel were certainly hungry mate!!! so many times we(As anglers) go with a set up geared in mind for a specifci species. But im losing count of the times ive watched mackerel and bass smashing bait fish in close to the shore early morning or evening and cursed myself for not having appropriate tackle/ bait to nail them. Hey ho,it makes us better anglers in the long run! :-)
Great video Matt. Just bought a sea kayak, arrives on Tuesday to the house in Sennen ( on our hols). Can’t wait to get out there and hit the bass. Caught a couple of small ones off the beach but know there’s lots more fun to have this week. Fingers crossed, tight lines !

I've just started fishing I'm getting information and inspiration, watching your videos. I, found this one really informative. I can never understand people who give a thumbs👎 down and don't explain why. Maybe they can do it better 🤔
Part of the pleasure of fishing is finding your own spots , looking at low tide and finding areas to fish. There are bigger and better bass out there . Tides,weather, bait fish, all play a part too

Just brought a brand new set up 👍rod arriving tomorrow,I got loads of lures so fingers crossed as I have never caught a fish on a lure yet!! And as the saying goes “ I got all the gear and no idea “ lol 😂 I can’t wait to get started and hopefully catch some Bass 🤞great videos by the way 👍
Great bit of fishing your very lucky to have such clear water, I would love to try lure fishing but sadly I fish the Bristol Channel, South Wales part and the water is very murky indeed , so I don,t think I would very successful .

@@SaltwaterAngler any calm day throughout late spring right into late summer early autumn some wicked rocks and sand bars about always good to poach a good spot on low tide to see where your casting good for weedless and top lures on a high tide and low if im honest definitely check it out 👍
Couldn't agree more with you about mackerel. Sadly don't get the numbers at all where I am. I have caught them in the past on light gear and 4lb line and they have got airborne!! Fully mini tuna 👌

Good work my man, nice to see you having ago on the bass, it's terrible down here in Cornwall this year, 1-year yesterday I had a 9 lb 7 oz bass on a lure, what a difference a year makes.
@@SaltwaterAngler it's totally weird, I lived in West Wales for a few years and the fishing there is absolutely brilliant, most of the fish were over 5lbs, lots of bigger fish. But that was then and who knows if it's fishing as well now? I definitely do better in rougher conditions.
We blanked at Tywyn from the shore last Sunday, the fish were further out off the reef so the yak guys were catching. Loads of mullet but really I think the water was too low tide wise. This Sunday should be better!

Bonchurch is a great spot, it's rare to see anyone else about down there! There is a slightly secret beach in St Lawrence which I also visit often, My best bass this year though have come from bembridge ledge 5 pound 6 oz was the best! off one of those axia canines. I've been climbing down whale chine most evenings this week for the mackerel it's been great fun! Happy fishing!

Great video, apart from the bass lure fishing, I liked the mackerel chasing in the bait fish. Never minded people taking mackerel for the table or for bait, but do object to those anglers that just waste the fish, personally I think there should be a limit on the amount you are allowed to keep and people who catch excess of the limit should put the excess back with a rubber gloved hand. Well done on the 6 lb bass and thanks for posting.
Lucky man don't have anywhere near me with good bass, the beach near me does have the occasional bass but usually caught wile targeting other fish few and far between really 🎣
Yes I’ve been trying it this week but then got carried away with the lures once the water cleared , I find just halving the crabs and wrapping them works o.k as a bait but I haven’t had a decent fish on them yet !!
Fished at hastings rock-o-nore today at dusk... no mackerel or bass but lots of big horse mackerel (scad?) !? at the jetty with a small metal lure - they were being hooked 10 meters from shoreline, took 4 home going to try and fry them / serve with soy sauce and rice, what are your thoughts on horse mackerel?
Do you fish with barbed or barbless (or squashed barb) trebles? Going to have a go at spinning but coarse fishing I don’t have to deal with unhooking trebles.
Yea I’ve been a bit slow to adapt but crushed barbs might be a good start , some of mine are and it does make a difference . You can but dedicated lure singles too. I can see the way Sea angling going and these trebbles will be a thing of the past with more catch and release. In terms of efficiency thought trebbles are excellent if a little damaging to fish .
I'm literally just finding fishing in my 40s 🤣🤣. Is sea/shore fishing realistic in the winter or should I pack my new rod away for now? Great videos especially fishing from the kayak!
Hi Leon - winter fishing can be tremendous, codling, conger, pollack bass even plaice and guaranteed whiting! Pack your gear away between late January and may !
Shimano Sedona 2500 I’m not really up on all the reels but I go with shimano as these Sedonas have been pretty bullet proof .mid range price and easy to adjust drag one handed . Greenish braid ? Not sure what one is on the reel tbh.

Hi mate, great content, I live in Hertfordshire and mainly fish for perch and chub using rods that are 5-20g, have been thinking about doing a trip with my 9yr old boy to the coast using small lures, would these rods be ok for mackerel and small school bass, was thinking of Hastings as it an easy drive and parking, do you think this would be a good place for beginners, sorry for all the questions lol 👍
Hi , I think harbours and river mouths are ideal or even some light line fishing of piers and jetty’s. The rocks and beach around Hastings not really suitable but the pier could be good with a 9 year old. Your rods would be fine if it’s not too rough and clear conditions.

@@SaltwaterAngler I skippered a summer tripping/fishing boat for years and never known the huge amount of these only tiny fish before, out of a few hundred tiny ones only 1 solitary large mackerel. This was a mile or so offshore but they were in the river a few days ago too.
What's a great video has everything ye could igspect from a fishing video...what weight is in the lures ..saw a spider crab when I was fishing today was huge couldn't get it into the rocks ...also had a close bass swimming round the rocks but didn't get a bite all day

That sounds like fun ! Most of our suggestions in the lure videos on the channel are aimed at beach anglers as they are shallow divers. So many shads on the market now I’d usually default to black minnows, crazy sandeels, side winders from the kayak in deeper water but my knowledge from a boat is limited in the deeper water. Big shoal of good sized mackerel out off soar mill cove last weekend no bass though.
Now that was exciting. I was going to try more luring this year but sadly will be next year now.

Nothing but those tiny joeys around Exmouth too. Been getting some nice bass though.

What's a great video has everything ye could igspect from a fishing video...what weight is in the lures ..saw a spider crab when I was fishing today was huge couldn't get it into the rocks ...also had a close bass swimming round the rocks but didn't get a bite all day
Most of those lures are up to 20 Gramme the small ones about 9! Spiders everywhere!!
@@SaltwaterAngler that's not heavy atall..i need a proper spinning rod and those problems be gone..spiders?.theres rats running between the rocks on the beach

That sounds like fun ! Most of our suggestions in the lure videos on the channel are aimed at beach anglers as they are shallow divers. So many shads on the market now I’d usually default to black minnows, crazy sandeels, side winders from the kayak in deeper water but my knowledge from a boat is limited in the deeper water. Hope it goes well , tight lines Robin

Saltwater Angler the small ones whole make great live and deadbait, you would have no problem catching a bass on one of them under a float

Oh yes a great bait and sometimes I think Bass get preoccupied with them - but I was too focused in to the lures today !
