Honestly, I'm just the guy who can play bass well enough to be treated like a good bassist by other bassists, but consistently feels subpar the moment they see any bassist on the internet. Also I'm the bassist who is good at one style of playing but struggles with others (I can play fingerstyle on upright and electric no problem, but slap on both just elude me or some reason, which sucks because the internet loves to push slap bass above all other styles).
Jaco #13 and #8 for me. I'm a Jaco elitist along with Victor Wooten for sure. I'm all about basing tones off Jaco's sound and I based a lot of my electric bass tones and writings based off of a lot of his stuff. I write a lot of prog rock/metal/in between, so it has a good fit in that style.

Avant garde bassist is my personal favorite. Need more bassists like him in the world !
Also I would like to add one type: #16 - Multitasker bassist (kinda rare)
Example: Mark King, of Level 42. Multitask: play bass, sing, chewing gum.
Gotta luv the doubleneck bass slash guitarist
love this 😂 well done!!
just one thing: from everything I've heard and experienced, people don't really talk to bassists, let alone ask them to play. anyhow, I'm a guitarist and wish I had a bass, especially because of bassists like this guy.
You forgot me!! The one with the hofner bass and puts FULL overdrive on all the songs. ;)
I started out as the serious practicer, which turned me into the really bored guy, then I discovered Cecil Taylor, met some cool people and became the avant garde bassist which made me a really, really happy person. 😃

Oh my fooking God
As a pedal lover, i fuckin love it mate
Wish someone plays just like that all the time in bass
You know the song?
I'm so proud of your nomination Ed Sheeran lol but seriously though you deserve it because you are one of the greatest of all time in my opinion. Also I've been 8 of those types of bass players
You can’t go wrong with just being that one happy bass player
The avant garde bassist is what I sound like when I try to be the guy who practices a lot.
I'm not good. =D
🤣 just keep at it!
Keep practicing
Honestly, I'm just the guy who can play bass well enough to be treated like a good bassist by other bassists, but consistently feels subpar the moment they see any bassist on the internet.
Also I'm the bassist who is good at one style of playing but struggles with others (I can play fingerstyle on upright and electric no problem, but slap on both just elude me or some reason, which sucks because the internet loves to push slap bass above all other styles).
Perhaps not THAT unbelievable. You've worked hard, man. It's great that you're humble, but you deserve every bit of that accolade. ♥️
I Love The Serious Practicer It's Kinda Like A Meme Clap With The Bass Riff Then You'll Know Why
The really happy guy is the bandmate we all need and deserve
Jaco #13 and #8 for me. I'm a Jaco elitist along with Victor Wooten for sure.
I'm all about basing tones off Jaco's sound and I based a lot of my electric bass tones and writings based off of a lot of his stuff. I write a lot of prog rock/metal/in between, so it has a good fit in that style.
There is a lot of talent, accompanied by humor. A real pleasure to get up in the morning and have a good coffee while enjoying your genius.
1:32 the only one type who realy sound like a bassist
I've only been playing bass for 2 months, and every time I play with others, I am 100% The Really Happy Guy.
I'm the metal guy, the crazy faces guy, and the guy who never changes his strings
quite the combo, I now realize...
I'm both the guy who never changes his strings and the really happy guy lmao.
The happy guy is happy because he is playing Basket Case that could make anyone happy
The guy who never changes strings 🤣 haven't laughed this hard in a while
You're welcome, that's me. :)
@@iloveska1 :D
Yea this just made me realize I haven't changed mine since I got my bass around 6 months ago
@@klaatu_347 i haven't since i got mine a year ago XD got new ones on the way tho
The Avant Garde bassist is likely the same guy who “untunes” by ear.
1, 2, 7, 12 and 13.5
It's almost embarrassing how perfectly you nailed it. Plus how many of these people I've met. Great video.
i'm definitely a combination of the weird faces guy and the one that soundchecks really quietly but then plays really loud during the gig lmao 🤣
I will so gladly vote for you Charles! You are not just the best basist I´ve ever listened to. You are also one of the best musicians in generell I have ever heard. Your compositions are just phenomenal and everything you play just sounds great and amazes me every time! I wont just vote for you to support you, I will vote for you because I think it is true.
Continue like you always do and I will soon watch you getting to 1M subs.
Having a brother who makes crazy faces while playing bass, I can confirm that part is true
I love how for the metal guy and the very loud guy he plays Fight Fire with Fire 🤘🤘🤘
I enjoyed the video and I’ve probably met someone over the years who fits each category. The only category you didn’t have is mine - average guy who’s an average bass player but who derives a lot of joy from just playing music I like. Keep up the great work, Charles!
4:00 it sounds like you're trying to braid your strings
