67 year old rocker here to say this... From being a very young fan to being a venue director and promoter and having attended literally three or four hundred concerts in my long life... the only guitarist that I ever saw make people cry was David Gilmour. I mean choking up with tears rolling down grown men's cheeks... including mine. And it's always during Comfortably Numb, which to hear him play live is simply an overwhelmingly emotional experience. THANK YOU DAVID!
71 year old fan here since 1967....saw them play 3 times in '68 and 1 time in '71...fav band and guitarist always!!! [And always tears!]
hey Ed..was just going to say i felt goose bumps and a hint of tears...felt the long years dissolving away..and just wishing i had a time machine..damn that is beautiful..
I have been through some really difficult times in my life, and when I really didn't know what to do, I played this song. I was never suicidal, but I questioned why not at times. But I felt I could go on with this song. There are guitar players that can do amazing things. But when they go together to celebrate their instrument, they asked David to play it. Not much more you can add.
Totally agree, the 2nd guitar solo is kryptonite for me.
Agreed! Thank you for sharing! He is my favorite guitarist from this genre and for me it’s the space between the notes where he allows the sustain of the bends to fully “exhale” that gives it such a powerful and emotional expression. Thanks again Fil for making these videos.
Gilmour blows everybody else out of the water. The combination of his melodic intuition and mastery of the guitar is unparalleled.
I'm more of a metal-head but I've got to say this might be the greatest solo ever. Absolutely incredible.
Well let’s not jump ahead of ourselves. It is very fun good / Great!
@@luminositymusicbrianpricka6357 ah ok? Just Google 'greatest guitar solos of all time' see what comes up on every list.
Check out Colombian Volcano Appeal concert, 1984 I think? Gilmour hasn’t play like it before or since.
Me too. It is
Mr. Gilmour's tone is outstanding then his ability to floating through the melody just puts him over top. Amazing. Thanks, Uncle Brent
Amen!
Nobody sounds like Pink Floyd, and nobody plays like David Gilmore. They are true originals, what tone he has and feel.I remember coming home from a bad day at work and kicking back with Dark side of the moon or Wish you were here and just unwinding.Thxs for the video Fil,rock on brother.
Amen!
For fucks sake, it's GILMOUR!
Through his playing in this song, he makes you feel what the character is feeling or not feeling. Just numb from repressed pain and anger and regret. Amazing!
I watched a Roger Waters concert at Riverbend (Cincinnati) where he had five guitarists all playing the solo for _"Comfortably Numb"_ at the same time. Hell, he could have lined up one hundred guitarists on that stage and it _still_ wouldn't have matched the musical impact of David Gilmour playing this solo.
If Waters had a brain back then he would have realized that the sum-total output of all four members far exceeded any of their individual works.
Birdman Hey, Waters was an asshole. I’d take Final Cut any day over anything post Waters. Don’t get me wrong, Radio KOAS was an album best left to one listen.
Spot on. Pink Floyd was never as good as when those 4 guys worked and wrote together. Gilmour needed Waters to come up with the concepts and lyrics and Waters needed Gilmour to make the ideas trancendent music. Such a waste. We could have had more great albums and even more great tours.
@@neillenet291 "The Final Cut" was tantamount to Waters reading from his diary while the other three members played background music. Pink Floyd is certainly not alone in the many legendary bands that broke up over inflated egos.
Their fans are the ones who end up suffering the most.
@@birdman7135 spot on bro. I am as big a Pink Floyd fan as there is and I still have not been able to sit through that entire album. It is painful to listen to and hardly any melodies and just Roger Waters screechy whiny voice. In my opinion the only good song on there is not now John and that's only because David Gilmour sings it. A lot of people bash a momentary lapse of reason but in my opinion it is far more listenable then the final cut. I would categorize the final cut as "music to slit your wrists by." If someone was contemplating suicide are you have to do is put that album on and I will push you over the edge, lol. Do you think I was a little harsh? :)
Roger could never understand what being part of a group was. He created great lyrics, but lyrics need a SOUND and a rythm to become music, and that come out from the symbiosis with the other 3. Most melodies come from Gilmour and Wright. Roger did nothing relevant after leaving Floyd. Stll squeezing The Wall, and Dark Side after 50 years. He could never replicate the FLOYD SOUND.
I too am an old rocker 67 years old and glad to say I saw Pink Floyd! What a time to be alive! Thanks Fil...this is a master guitar player and I am like him! All melody and technique on my leads. I never aimed to play fast...just with purpose...when I play I have had ppl cry from my music and leads. Love this Fil! Thanks again UK 🇬🇧...we may have the blues but u have the Beatles and Pink Floyd! Listen to that lead!
I don't think it's possible to be a guitar player and not admire DG's work.
Amen!
It's not possible to have any appreciation for music at all and not admire Gilmour's work. His melodic sensibility is simply unmatched. It amazes me that the second CN solo still makes me as emotional on the hundredth listen as it did on the first.
Gilmour always had an emotional impact on me that other great guitarists never quite matched.
For the record; I think Gilmour is a guitar god; he's MINE anyway. So, I totally agree. About 10 yrs ago, I was watching the original movie "Twister". The movie was over and the credits were rolling and the most Amazing guitar was ringing from that silly, tiny speaker on the TV. I had to see who this guitar player was...
It was Eddie Van Halen. You could have knocked me over with a feather. I had never paid too much attention to him; I never cared for his style; he was always too shreddy, too edgy for me, but I (truly) had always admired his technique and his ability.
I tried to find more of his playing this kind of style on other things; Nope. He ONLY played this one song, for this one movie, this ONE time. RIP Mr. Halen.
The greatest solo in rock history. ...only a few bands are even better live than they are on vinyl. Floyd was a religious experience live.
Amen!
Yes. Totally agree with all you said.
I was at this gig and the track that done it for me was SORROW.
Just blew me away.
Never ever been to a gig like and probably never will again.
Out of this world sound out of this world experience.
@Tom Angus David has about 10 solos that are epic. On the turning away.
Greatest solo? Agreed, although Prince doing "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" is right up there. The whole song is just epic the way it builds the tension with that bass line.
@Tom Angus 🌐
Saw Floyd many years ago. This wasn't a concert, seeing them was an experience.
He reached inside and played to point it brought you tears. Fabulous
David is a stellar player and brilliant as ALWAYS, just spot on.
Mark Birchette lol. In my opinion you're Awsome! Seen you around the channel I like. Thanks for you service.
@@dl3g3nd45 Who is he?Mark birchette?
he just a man ive seen on other youtube channels i like. als i learned from his comments that he is a former serviceman in our armed services.
The look on your face when David plays that first note says it all. Happens to me every time I hear this amazing song. There are so many players that people believe are the best, namely Malmsteen, Vai, Satriani etc etc, yet none of them will ever come close to having the emotion David Gilmour has whilst playing. I'm sure people will say I'm full of it, yet in my opinion,
NO guitar player I have ever seen can match this bloke
Amen!
I have 2 who have had that affect on me. One is Dave Gilmour and the other is the late Steve Clark from Def Leppard, emotion used to flow out of his guitar too. Both my all time favourites.
We ALL have our favorites; but Gilmour does it for me. I've seen him play live 4 times; and this tune is the best Encore piece--it has a building crescendo that says "The End"....how can you top that?! A Great Musician/Guitarist!
When I’ve listen to Malmsteen and Vai and the like I’ve thought they sounded like robotic players and I had no interest in hearing more of their stuff.
SRV
This solo in particular showcases the clarity and purity of tone that Gilmour gets out of his instrument without any effect beyond precision and beautiful, pure tone augmented by a little whammy or bend. Gives me goosebumps every time.
I have massive amounts of respect for Gilmour. When I first heard Shine On, I literally cried because it was a painful time for him and the entire band, and his playing expressed his feelings perfectly. He inspired me to start playing.
Amen.
I think you've said it all. Mr Gilmour epitomizes why we love the guitar. A legend. Reay enjoy your comments, keep it up.
Thanks Michael!
Love the channel Fil!
Gosh...the way he combines the tremolo with those soaring string bends.... such feel, emotion and melody....you can’t teach that! It’s what separates good musicians from great ones! Thanks for sharing!🤙🏻🎸
No problem! Yeah you don't find this in the text books!
I always thought David was so good at getting so much feeling across with so few notes; as good as he is at playing the right notes, he's just as good at knowing when not to play a note. He lets the song breathe and gives the listener time and space to feel each note and be immersed.
There's not much I can say that hasn't been said a million times regarding David, there's no one quite like him. He's as brilliant as a musician/guitarist can be and rightfully deserves every accolade that comes his way. That being said, a performance crossed my mind that fits all the Fil requirements...stage presence, mastery of the craft, professionalism, mind bending solo, and most definitely "the tightness" as you would say. It's a performance at the Rock and Roll hall of fame for George Harrison's induction and the song is While my guitar gently weeps. And the amount of star power is insane, Tom Petty, Jeff Lynne, Dhani Harrison, and many other surprises but the purple one himself,Prince, steals the show with a gut wrenching solo that will bring tears to your eyes. Granted, nothing will ever compare to Gilmour, but it is a perfect example of a signature tone even a deaf man could pick out, and oh, the feeeeels, man, the feels. Just yt search "prince hof performance" and it should be the top. About 6 mins long. Also, nice to see your channel taking off. The SRV video almost has 100k views!!! \m/
Thanks dude! Yeah people seem to like these videos, now and again they'll be a troll who gets frustrated at their own lack of success and let rip on me, but I guess that's what happens!
Yeah! David Gilmour has the best melody and phrasing in the business in my opinion. The first Pink Floyd song I ever heard was Shine On You Crazy Diamond and I was hooked on Gilmours playing ever since! Awesome video man! Thanks!
Cool! Thanks!
Carlos Santana? Let us not get caught up in the moment and ahead of ourselves.
As you get older in life memory fades and you struggle to find connections to past events music becomes an essential thread that ties you to important emotional experiences. Like when you listen to comfortably numb for the first on a farm in the middle of winter at your uncles place at the age of sixteen or driving down a highway with your brother with hendrix so loud you can feel your heart vibrate. Not many guitarist can make you feel these emotions as deeply as dave, hendrix, clapton. Who will you be listening to in another 40 years when trying to recapture fadeing memory. Thanks for the vid very cool.
Hi Fil! I’m new, so I’m making my way thru your posts’. I think You’re the best reactor on You Tube! Thanks for always being honest, mature and breaking things down so that a non musician can learn about different parts of music and train my ear to hear different things.
Thanks! No problem!
They don't call Gilmore the "Stratomaster" for nothing. Floyd is my all time favorite band and Gilmore my favorite guitarist. Excellent video, but you cut out too much of the last lead.
Yeah getting the length of the video right is tricky!
His name is Gilmour! Gilmour! Gilmour! He isn't a member of the Gilmore girl. He is the iconic David Gilmour!
Never ceases to amaze me that people misspell his name. Wanker!
idiot it's GILMOUR
mine two
That small smile that crosses your face as his solo begins at 1:08 says it all.
😂👍
Gilmore is not only a master of melody and emotion, he is also a mater of tone. That solo on the studio recording has all of the gravity of a black hole. It start with such heaviness it always astounds me. As written earlier by another commenter the best solo in rock history.
👍
i have always loved the slower leads that has meaning and personality with emotion behind it. this solo lead has got to be the number one lead solo of all time and most recognizable and most enjoying and most heart felt,,,,,, and i could go on and on. this has to be my favorite solo of all time. top ten song of all time for me. can't you tell i'm a pink floyd freak.?. rock!!
Agreed! Me too....
David is such a prodigy and virtuoso with his style. When you go back and listen to Echoes, it is really ahead of its time. It's nuance, and subtlety with very emotive texture that makes him unique and very easy on the ears. I think his solo on Mother is one of the best. Short, but very effective.
He fits so much expression into such a small amount of space!
Echoes...right. David said that Echoes was where PF found their sound, and would be the basis of Dark Side album.
David's playing is feel personified, agreed mate, he is like the torch bearer guitarist from classic rock!
Amen!
Double Amen!
One cannot overstate how angelic his voice is on top of his mastery of his style of string work! I've always admired David Gilmore.
👍
Gilmour makes the guitar cry. Simply spectacular. Never heard anything like it. Hes a guitar god.
👍
And his guitar almost makes me weep.
that solo is so reconized, and he repeats it live plus adding so much texture to the song, Rock on Fil
I can only listen to the second solo while sitting down. If I try to do it standing up, my knees start to buckle.
It’s all about feel and emotion with David. The only guitar player that can move me to tears. Very special indeed.
Music heard so deeply that it is not heard at all, but you are the music while the music lasts.
T. S. Eliot
Two days ago, in night port during a three day boat trip (Pentecost is a like a spring holiday in Norway) in the archipelago west and south of Bergen, my son (14) found my Bluetooth speaker in the saloon, linked up his phone and played SOYCD. All parts! Then he continued with the Gdansk version of Comfortably Numb, while stating that he SHOULD have been with me at the Waters concert in Prague some weeks ago. And begged me to bring him along if Gilmour is playing any concerts not too far away. Daddy (52) promised this, opened a can of nice IPA and relaxed. I guess the legacy of Pink Floyd is duly transferred to the next generation. Without force!
Haha cool!
The most emotional and best guitar solo of all time. I'm glad you did a reaction to it. Gilmour is absolutely the king of tone.
Easily one of my five favorite solos precisely because of Mr. Gilmour's feel and the emotion that comes out of his playing.
Yeah it's a good call!
I agree but hasn't anyone noticed that he's left out the best part of that CN solo ?
If this is one of your favorite five, what are the other four?
I’m a 63 year old American male who grew up in the U.S. State of Arkansas. I’ve been listening to David since 1975 when at age 16, I first listened to the album “The Dark Side Of The Moon”. That was my first introduction to Pink Floyd, to David Gilmour and the other 4 members of “The Floyd” (I say David and the other ‘4’ members because Syd’s descent into madness was a part of the inspiration behind the theme of that album and others, so Syd has always been an important part of the band and it’s music). “TDSOTM” album BLEW ME AWAY (as it has done for millions of music listeners worldwide and across several generations now). Dave Gilmour is my all-time favorite guitarist. Nobody else’s guitar compositions and guitarwork moves me like David does. Beside “Comfortably Numb”, there are MANY worldclass masterful Gilmour solos in his catalogue that are just as good or better than the two in “Comfortably Numb”! The man is GIFTED. He channels emotions thru his guitar like nobody else! His guitarwork on one particular song (and it wasn’t even a Floyd or Gilmour song, but was a cover he did of an Elvis Presley song called “Don’t”) was the first time anyone’s guitarwork brought a tear or two (or three) to my eyes. That solo came in the middle of his performance of “Don’t” and for me is very emotion-evoking. I think I was also moved to a tear or three a couple of times when listening to his touching, gentle guitarwork in his songs “5 a.m.” and “…AND THEN”, which are the first and last tracks, respectively, on his album “Rattle That Lock”.
His guitar compositions and performances in the Pink Floyd songs, “SORROW” and “MAROONED” also move me to the core of my soul - and there are several other Gilmour masterpieces of guitar composition that get into the soul and stir the emotions. I cannot imagine a world without the gifts of moving musical artistry that David Gilmour has blessed us all with.
Thank you, Fil, for sharing this analysis and your personal thoughts about your own admiration of Gilmour’s Golden Gift on the guitar!
Agreed that Dave Gilmour is an absolute legend. The main thing for me is that he isn't a fast player at all, but his touch, tone and feel are so good that he makes absolutely every note count. Playing a lot of his solo's in terms of the notes is not that difficult but there are only a very few who can replicate his feel, sadly I'm not one of them.
On a separate note, whilst the Pulse gig is easily accessible, for me the best Floyd performance I ever saw broadcast was the "Live In Venice" gig from "The Delicate Sound of Thunder" tour in 88/89. If you're not already familiar with it, it's well worth checking out and most of it is on UA-cam. Also Rachel Fury is an absolute dish!
Thanks for the suggestion!
Agreed except that he can play fast when he wants to. Perhaps his greatest asset is restraint.
I go to sleep listening to David almost every night. So I too am definitely a fan. Thanks for explaining the nuance of his playing so I could appreciate even more what it takes to make music the way David does.
I am old enough (58 years old) to have seen David Gilmour play "The Wall" in Los Angeles during the original tour for that album. When he stood on top of the wall playing guitar, back lighting shining from behind, his screaming solo was like a voice singing out the theme of the songs. His guitar playing is clearly not "shred," but instead is a masterful use of the guitar to emote like few other guitarists can. His is the mastery of the "Art" of guitar playing. Each note is carefully played to reflect emotion as deeply as any words could. I was fortunate enough to have floor seats for a second show because the venue in Los Angeles had originally issued me seats that would have been obscured by fireworks. They issued me 12th row floor seats to correct their "error." I saw Roger Waters closely enough to see wrinkles on his face, and could see all the band members lost in the "zone" while they played out the complex components of that epic show. It was one of the best musical experiences of my life.
Cool!
Speed over feel? I'll take feel... And don't dare discuss DGs technique, he can bend a string better than anyone!
Peter Green?
Thinking Albatross, and the live in Boston masterpiece, in particular
cyjazz That's the truth. I believe I remember someone in an interview said he could bend up 2&1/2 notes maybe 3. I'm sure I still have that interview and whoever said it. Some people might say so can they or other guitarist but to do it with such accuracy.
only guitarist that can bend strings as good or better than Gilmour was Stevie Ray Vaughan
Freddie King was the master bender but I think he influenced David.
For me Robin Trower falls into the same category of feel not speed. And his live tone is to die for.
I admire Gilmour so much. When each note sinks into you and means so much is a gift so few possess.
I'd love to hear what people think the best single note in guitar history is. For me it is the note in Hendrix's Machine Gun. And then there is the lead break in Neil Young's Cinnamon Girl. Simplicity is brilliance.
Thank you for this video! Comfortably Numb is one of those songs you don't get out of the car for. Even if you are late for work and a meeting with your boss. Luckily my boss would agree!!
Love David Gilmour!
With Comfortably Numb it feels like the guitar doesn't just "sound" but like the words are just beneath the notes!
It's just wonderful!
Amen!
Fil I love your videos! While trying to keep my 90 yr old mother, Dolores, occupied and interested, I made her watch one of your videos! Lol. I started her off with John Denver, Dolly Parton and The Everly Brothers and now I’ve got her listening to my fave guitarists Clapton and David Gilmour Bahahaha! Now she has a HUGE crush on you, calls you ‘my boy’ and loves your scruffy beard lol!! We never knew there was so much we didn’t know about music! ❤️
Thanks!
An approximate quote from DG "Most lead guitar players play 1000 notes when 1 would have been sufficient." He gets such clarity and emotion and precision in his playing. And this to me is the absolutely perfect song. Just the lyrics alone get to me every time. Without DG this song should not be played.
I admire many guitarists, but Gilmour is my all time favorite, just like that
Good heavens, it's been ages since I heard this song...lots of memories of his singing guitar and things I was into at that time (emoji of head exploding), Thanks for posting!
No problem!
Pink Floyd has always been my favorite band and David is the best guitarist ever in my opinion. That solo makes me cry every time. That guitar is talking! And I'm 60 years old! Phil, I've never seen anyone who appreciates good guitar playing regardless of their genre more than you do. I love your videos!
There are no words that can describe how great this song is. Love Love the entire tract. Beautiful is what David played. My favorite band!
One of the best -most beautiful songs I’ve ever heard - your. analysis is perfection Thanks Fil
I saw Pink Floyd in concert in the 70s , 1988 , & 1994. Awesome concerts. In 94 I had the worst seats in the back up high. For any other band they would have been bad seats , but for Floyd not so. I got to see the light show super well & because of the way they set up the speakers it was awesome how the sound went from front to back & side to side.
Cool!
I've seen animals and the wall back in the late 70's in Los Angeles CA!! I was truly blessed to have seen two iconic shows from one killer band! Gilmour is simply amazing and is a living legend….
He has the ultimate lead guitar tone!
That is as good as it gets!!! Never will ever grow old!!!
What does everyone think of David Gilmour’s solo album “On an Island” 👌
David Sim what is the new one called?
So many guitarists that astonish me but I've tried for years to decide who my favorite is and I decided a few years ago it's David Gilmour. Love to hear that boy play. "British Guitarist" here, hat's off to you Fil for your lovely take downs of fine guitarists, I learn SO much from you. So glad to see you're a fan of David too.
David Gilmour is my favourite guitarist and lead guitar master. What I mean by this is he knows what's important in music melody and harmony and he has mastered both of them in lead playing. His style is deceptively difficult, he uses massive bends and the various vibratos you mentioned fil. Also the big secret to his style is his timing, he often changes up rythms, connects them together and doesn't always play on the downbeat giving the rythm of the song a different feel and some air this is also surprisingly really difficult to do.He Also uses repeating licks which a lot of guitarists are afraid to use. I recommend his solos for high hopes or shine on you crazy diamond, both are masterpieces.
Definitely, he's got the feel!
There is so much emotion in that solo its unreal! Spent a lot of my time in my younger day monged out to this
i am a huge fan of David Gilmour, his solo, chord progression, they were great,i never missed a day without listening to his music,he is a genius.
David Gilmour was born with a guitar in his hands. I believe for his style, David is the best guitarist on the planet when playing. When he plays his emotions come through, it's amazing when he plays.
Love Gilmour....and Pink Floyd...Thanks.
David is really one of a kind Fil as you know, he masters his own unique trademark sound. I always recognize his "sound" when I hear one of his performances. Saw him in 2016 in NYC and he was on target with every song, just pure perfection right there!
David Gilmour is the very definition of an iconic artist.
just watch "live at Pompeii"
and prepare to be completely mesmerized.
The use of tremolo and bend here is pure Gilmour. Just awesome
Definitely on my top 5 favorite solos of all time! He’s so amazing!!!
Amen!
David Gilmour is the only one who has brought me to tears with guitar alone! Definitely be touched your soul! From Floyd to his solo work....love him! He just gets better! 💟 I love to see you do an analysis of his recent work. 👍👍👍
Only song that the guitar solo at the end always sends me into nearly a trance . Saw Pink Floyd live in D.C. in '88 and Nashville 94. Both incredible shows. Seeing Gilmore open with Shine in You Crazy Diamond parts 1,2,3 in DC so clear so crisp . Opened Nashville with" One of These Days "on Pedal steel WOW. Comfortably Numb was is and always will be the live concert highlight of my days.
What can you say that hasn't been said about David Gilmour? The consummate blues based rock guitarist and one of the most gifted all around wielders of the Stratocaster of all times! His ability to wrench every drop of emotion out of every phrase of every song and every solo is second to none. His innate sense of harmony and melodic structures in relation to chord progressions is just phenomenal. Not a shredder or a show-off but every note is so "perfect", nothing is wasted...he makes even simple improvisation sound meticulously composed! His solos sound complex but are totally accessible. Just an awesome force in guitar playing and a huge personal inspiration to me when I was a novice guitar player.
Amen.
Thanks Fil. Imagine, picking up a guitar and that comes out? So relaxed and melodic. Superb. Thanks again Fil. Enjoy your weekend
Thanks Ian! You too!
I agree with you Fil !! David and his guitar are one in the same 🥰💜
David Gilmour is my favorite guitar player. Good video.
Thanks Bryan!
Saw them live at Princeton University in '71. I'm told they were great and that I had a really good time.
Cool!
It's really hard not to be a David Gilmour fan.
👍
I heard of Pink Floyd i missed out on alot of music in the 60's, 70,s rock music. To be honest my father died and my mother wanted to go to all these country concerts but didn't want to go alone so... i knew a few people who liked rock but it was linked to them smoking weed. And i wouldnt and didn't go there. In the last couple of years i hot into Queen my oh my it took awhile listened and watched in awe to everything about them on utube , I was hooked on rock. I love to listen tp Pavarotti when i heard him sing with James Brown i was watching history. And then stumbled upon you on Utube your guitar playing and your singing has me spellbound your voice is superb and your guital is amazing. Many thanks...Keeping Rocking!
Oh boy do I ever love David Gilmour. You're exactly right but you forgot to mention he's got a voice to go along with it his voice calms me down just as much as his solo riffs. Live in gnask is probably the best version of Comfortably Numb probably because you playing with the full Orchestra I could listen to him for hours too he's done a few songs with Jeff Beck and I think he really respect him I'm so happy you played the song thanks a lot and I hope you have a great rest of your day
Yeah his vocal style is also very unique!
You're right about listening to him play all day. I saw him on the Pulse Tour. 30,000 people standing ENTHRALLED. Really it was hypnotic, emotional and more I can't describe. Best concert I've ever seen.
When you can identify a guitar player by hearing alittle of them playing while not knowing the song you are dealing with a guitar master. Nobody plays like Gilmour....nobody.
👍
Agreed
When ever I get really down and depressed. I will play this song and Shine On. The music always transports me to a better place.
👍
Jeans and a t-shirt.......could anyone else get away with that and still peg the cool meter?
Haha exactly!
Brian's Brain, that’s spot on! Nicely done! 🍻
If you saw him in the street, you'd probably think he was some London Pub landord
Thank you! Great read on Gilmour. I've been blessed to see David play this live 6 times...I'm blown away every time!
Awesome!
i was wondering when you were going to get to gilmour, one of my fav guitarist of all time, really love pink floyd and yes i could listen to their songs all day long. your right, he has great feel and emotion letting on his guitar. i had the eight track, double cd, and now ipod of the wall album, imo their best album. rock!
Amen!
David's soul speaks to the soul of the listeners. Mark of a true great. Nice to see young folks appreciating it!
Amen!
Wings of Pegasus .Listen to Warren Zevon's Run straight down. With David Gilmore.
Also Warren and Neil Young on Gridlock...
I love this song. The voicing on Davids Guitar is Ausome.
I get sad when l hear this song...not a bad sad.A good sad.
David is one of my all time favourite musoz because he plays melodic and paced correctly not crazy fast stuff yeah play fast then relax.
Thank you Fil.
Compliments too your show and chats.🤗
No problem! Thanks!
Give me goosebumps every time I listen to it
Gilmour is just a master.
👍
Single greatest concert experience of my life. Got to see it from the third row at RFK Stadium in Washington, DC. I don’t expect ever to have such a meaningful moment in my music life as that!
Echoes live by David Gilmour and Richard Wright next please!
Android Long Qua in gnask it's a very haunting version absolutely beautiful
Thanks for the suggestion!
Android Long Qua will you provide refreshments for the trip, there's no way out of here off his first solo album is echos opposite in its simplicity and it pulls you in the same way it may as well have been an album side one is compelled to listen over and over again
I think the Gdansk video might suffice; it's a great version. I am with you, Fil please do Echoes live?!
Best melodic soloist ever. One of the most distinctive playing styles in all of rock.
👍
David Gilmore is pink Floyd. In my opinion. A lot of people think that pink Floyd died off when Sid was forced out. But we all know that's not true.
Nate Syd died in 2006 so i don’t know if i see the idea behind that point
GILMOUR dickhead
Im a Big fan of David Gilmour, his lyrical style and melodic strength. Gilmours tempo here i phenomenal! He allows the listener to breathe with the song
Once You're Experienced, You Are Experienced.
David Gilmore s playing is haunting. Climbs in side ya. Huge fan here
Playing Guitar Was So Easy To Him. I Wish I Was That Good!
I think most people do!
Yep.
Gilmour always sounded so damn clean to me. Plays with a pure emotion.
Love the channel. Keep em comin'
Yes, that's Pulse - I was there. I saw The Division Bell tour 4 times when I lived in the U.S. including the first night in The Joe Robbie Stadium, Miami. I enjoy the videos you make of yourself too! I wish you lots of luck.
Thanks dude!
You're very welcome!
I was at that concert in Earl's Court - one of the landmark days in my life. Wonderful memories.
Combine Gilmour's feel, Knopfler's finger picking, Blackmore's technique, and Green's tone and Page's riffing you have the perfect guitarist.
That would be interesting!
Here I am. Yay...
was at this concert in earls court... loved EVERY second of it. seen them live 3x and Aussie Pink floyd about 7 times.. but this solo was electric...
Gilmour rules!
Amen!
David Gilmour (the soul bender) is my favorite guitarist of all time; one of the cleanest, and definitely most emotive. He said that he can't play fast, because he has a left to right hand coordination problem, so he had to develop his own technique. Works for us; we wouldn't have it any other way. Gilmour is stratospherically gifted; phenomenally talented.
Cool!
