These were songs that were well known to his audience's as he had recorded them on various albums. The orchestra accompanies him on only a few...these were most likely in the show anyway. I believe he easily performed these songs as they were standards he had done for years. What a gracious artist.
He set up the audience with the question and said out loud the ones he already knew he was going to play, old trick in the book, even though amazing performance, can’t deny that.
What an absolute doll this man was. Where in the world today is there an artist who will happily extend their show and play a medley of audience favourite? Nowhere that's where.
When I was about ten, my mother took me to see Liberace perform. We were seated at tables, and ours was right up near the stage. Even at that age, I was mezmorized by his showmanship and extrordinary talent. Say what you will about his eccentricities, his flamboyant behavior - but he was a true musical genius.
What a lovely memory. My Mother surprised me with a day off from school to see the Lippizaner Stallions, and it is one of my most cherished memories with her... ❤️🙏🌈
Many people dismissed him because of his flamboyant attire...his outlandish attitude...his perceived different private life... BUT MOSTLY because being envious of his talent...his presence..his showmanship...and SUCCESS...! He was a great entertainer and will be remembered and missed for a long time..!
Liberace, the consummate entertainer. Funny, glamorous, talented and so down to earth. I wish more of today's celebs were as humble and gracious as Liberace. 👏

My wife and I saw him late in his life at Radio City Music Hall. The show had the Rockettes, Dancing Waters, the orchestra... it was amazing. Even as ill as he was he gave 110%.

My Dad loved Liberace, and played these songs, similar style. Down the street lived a classical pianist. Oh, those summer nights when all the windows were open! Sometimes even dueling pieces, so wonderful!
My father was never that good at buying gifts at Christmas. But one year, when I was a kid, my father surprised my mother and grandmother, with two tickets to see Liberace, when he was in town. I remember my mother and grandmother crying. A true genious. We need more Liberaces nowadays.
What a great story, Richard, of your father giving two such inspired gifts that your mum and grandmother were in tears! A precious memory! No doubt they had a wonderful evening at the show.
Im very blessed to have seen this great artist in, not one but two of his Vegas performances. Once at the Hilton and another at the Stardust Casino. He unfortunately left us when he was still in his prime.
I was only a young lad but count myself blessed that my father took me to at least 5 of his shows when he played at the Nugget in Sparks, NV or up at the Sahara Tahoe back in the late 60's and early 70's. He was truly an entertainer with a beautiful talent.
I lived in Sherman Oaks as did Liberace and one day he parked his beautiful 1954 black Cadillac El Dorado convertible in front of our house and walked to a nearby speciallty shop. I got my 5 year old little cousin and took her to the shop and with her autograph book and he was so nice talking to us and signed with his customary flourish and drew a piano along with his signature. I was most impressed by the car with black and white leather featuring piano keys across the seats stitched in !
Liberace was a gift to this world. A lot of people never got that, but I got it and I'm glad I did. When watching this video, we are watching genius at work. I miss him and so many others of his generation.
Liberace has been an inspiration of mine my entire life. He always seemed to enjoy entertaining the people. He really gets it on when the people entertain him.
A captivating performer, the likes of which will NEVER be replaced. There may be better players, but none will have his character and soul - the true measures of a great musician. Amazing.
I will never forget my mother taking me and my brother to see Liberace and how kind he was to take his time to stop and talk with us- his encouraging words and beautiful piano playing from 55 yrs ago continue to ring inspiration in my ears.
A true great. Empathy with his audience was key, he was so good at that stuff. A sad loss to the world of entertainment, taken far too young. But hey, what a legacy! Love and peace.
I will never forget an interview I saw with Liberace when he said, I am not the best pianist in the World but I AM the greatest showman ! I love that :)
I once saw and heard Leontyne Price perform in person... it was the event of a lifetime, and I will never forget how deeply she impressed me with her beauty and voice. It's a totally different experience in person...I loved Liberace too...

Hi
When I was about ten, my mother took me to see Liberace perform. We were seated at tables, and ours was right up near the stage. Even at that age, I was mezmorized by his showmanship and extrordinary talent. Say what you will about his eccentricities, his flamboyant behavior - but he was a true musical genius.
What a lovely memory. My Mother surprised me with a day off from school to see the Lippizaner Stallions, and it is one of my most cherished memories with her... ❤️🙏🌈
Ditto
Me too!!!
Yea yea, everyone's got a story. We all really care.
@stopfear
What’s your story bro?
ASTONISHING! I MISS LIBERACE! MAY HE RIP, SERENADING THE ANGELS.
The man was pure talent, and a true gentleman. Gone but not forgotten.
What an incredible talent, a beautiful soul, wish he was still with us, God bless his memory.
And may his soul rest in peace.
What a monumental talent. And you could tell he absolutely loved his audience and wanted them to be part of his performance. Just brilliant.
Hello how are you doing.
😅😅😅...Grande Liberache
.
Wow, that's one of the nicest things I've ever seen a performer do for the fans. What a class act!
Many people dismissed him because of his flamboyant attire...his outlandish attitude...his perceived different private life... BUT
MOSTLY because being envious of his talent...his presence..his showmanship...and
SUCCESS...!
He was a great entertainer and will be remembered and missed for a long time..!
@@dominiqueschaffner308And he was so likeably charming! 😊
This is real showmanship
The surprise & delighted precious look on his face when the audience started singing!!! He adored his audience and they him!
Time stamp?
💎💕👍❤️🙏🏻
Liberace, the consummate entertainer. Funny, glamorous, talented and so down to earth. I wish more of today's celebs were as humble and gracious as Liberace. 👏
I just recently discovered this absolutely wonderful and majestical sweet soul. He's so beautiful. That smile. He's perfect.
He had a photographic memory I believe. On a visit to Britain he remembered all the studio crews families' names from his last visit years before. Amazing.
A photographic memory and a genius pianist - when you got it - you got it all 👌
He had a mind of a steel trap
I wondered such.

The sky is blue
My wife and I saw him late in his life at Radio City Music Hall. The show had the Rockettes, Dancing Waters, the orchestra... it was amazing. Even as ill as he was he gave 110%.
What a talent he was ! No sheet music....just plays the music from his heart.....RIP!
A time where you had to be talented to be recognised. I love and miss you Lee ❤️❤️🙏🏻🙏🏻❤️❤️👏🏻👏🏻
This man was so gifted.
Pure genius - to this day his unique showmanship has never been matched. So sorry that he left us so early in his life.
I Miss him! He always put on an Amazing performance for his fans. He really appreciated and was very gracious to his fans. Now a days, you don’t see performer’s like him…He was a rare diamond.
Wow... To take many requests from the audience and turn it into one brilliant medley with key change modulations, glissandos, and a weaving of Melody in such a seamless way is just quite brilliant! This man truly was a genius on the piano!
My thoughts exactly.
can see my mum glued to the tv when he was on she was a very good player she always said he his a genius at work close your eyes while he is playing now sixty years later wished I had took piano lessons boy what genius he his
Hello John, how are you doing.
My Dad loved Liberace, and played these songs, similar style. Down the street lived a classical pianist. Oh, those summer nights when all the windows were open! Sometimes even dueling pieces, so wonderful!
To an artist like him, the music came as easily as breathing.. Still, I read that he played for hours every day, as well as listening to music 😊😊😊😊
All of that from memory? Amazing. I'm still working on chopsticks with 2 fingers and hope to get it down in a few years.
One of the great piano players of all time. He was a rock start before the word was invented
rock “star”
He's so cute, no wonder my grandmother loved him, besides the incomparable talent, she looked just like him.
It didn't look to be a put on. It looked like he was genuinely having a lot of fun. Truly from a bygone era. Irreplaceable.
He had a wonderful voice. Very unique
Agree I think he was totally genuine
You can tell by the drummer starting and stopping that it's in the moment. The drummer is doing the best he can to flow with him.
Im very blessed to have seen this great artist in, not one but two of his Vegas performances. Once at the Hilton and another at the Stardust Casino. He unfortunately left us when he was still in his prime.
This man's memory and talent was amazing. Liberace always puts a smile on my face while I am astounded by his immense ability and showmanship.
I love that the drummer comes in (seemingly unbidden) to accompany him. And of course, the audience also helps out a bit in the last few minutes.
Wow-wee!! 😊😊😊
Liberace was a gift to this world. A lot of people never got that, but I got it and I'm glad I did. When watching this video, we are watching genius at work. I miss him and so many others of his generation.
I remember watching his TV show with my Mom when I was young. Great memories! Just love Liberace!!!❤
Michael Douglas And Matt Damon brought me there, and I'm happy they did.
Amazing.
A pianist and entertainer unmatched by any standard and never again to be experienced. I miss his gift and music.
So much joy. Happy 100th Birthday.... 5/16/2019
A great pianist. His timing is impeccable.
Fish, protein, and plankton from the sea 😂👍
How can you describe a talent showmanship class and down to earth. One of kind talent beyond any ones belief never to be mastered again.. fine person
What a wonderful man who brought so much joy to this world. God bless him and may he rest in peace.
I love Liberace. It was as if he was playing for only me...so completely personable. He is loved and missed!
The Great Showman!! And he was having so much fun!!!
This man truly was great.

You made piano more accessible to the average person, Walter. Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful talents with the world. RIP
"Walter?" ;). But otherwise , you're definitely right!😊
@@CanvasCanary Yes, Walter.
I will never forget my mother taking me and my brother to see Liberace and how kind he was to take his time to stop and talk with us- his encouraging words and beautiful piano playing from 55 yrs ago continue to ring inspiration in my ears.
A great showman,the world needs more Liberace's
An amazingly gifted pianist (and humourous as well as kind person).
Hi
I worked in radio city from 1985 1987 during that time I met this great musician such a gentleman and gracious
Nobody plays like him period
Highly gifted pianist & entertainer. I admired his work from my earliest years buying LP records
Hello Keith how are you doing.
I think if he gets over the initial shyness that boy will do well.
Liberace's talent and brilliance was one of a kind. He performed seamlessly and flawlessly. The best pianist of the 20th Century.
Glenn Gould was a better pianist. But Liberace was a better entertainer, I'll give you that.
Mr. Showmanship
Magnificent! His talent, skill and heart was way bigger than his personal life.
i would have loved to see this in person. hes fantastic
I once saw and heard Leontyne Price perform in person... it was the event of a lifetime, and I will never forget how deeply she impressed me with her beauty and voice. It's a totally different experience in person...I loved Liberace too...
@@jeanettecook1088 how cool that we are watching this in 2022.
This entire video is magical.
I know nothing about Mr Liberace. He did live through interesting times, though.
I am going to look him up and know I’ll be surprised what I learn.
One of the most striking moments of the whole video is near the beginning. After the introduction, the moment he is ready to play, the whole house is suddenly consumed in total silence, as if on cue. There are not a lot of acts in any level of the arts that can command that sort of attention!
