I’m 66 years old. Fifty years ago my mother told me she bought us tickets to see Liberace at the Garden State Art Center (in NJ). I said, “who’s that?”.. She said - “an incredible entertainer”. She was right. I was mesmerized by his incredible talent, his wardrobe, the car and his engaging rapport with the audience. Tengo 56, mis padres veían un programa de TV y me dijeron: mira, ese es Liberace. Yo era un niño pero percibía que era un gran panista. Buenos recuerdos.

We will all meet him in heaven. I truly believe that. He was a beautiful soul. A truly Borrowed Angel. Thank God for allowing us to have him. I love you sweet Liberace. RIP Lee. Thank you for loving us all.
As someone who plays 4 instruments one of which is the organ, I'd sure like to have a convo with him! Hopefully, I've been good enough to make it to Heaven.
My Mother absolutely loved his music. When I was a baby my Father would play me to sleep with Boogie because I would stay awake to listen to Liberace. I still love to listen to his music today 75 years later LOL
I also saw Liberace about that time also. Rode up an elevator with him and a gentlemen he was presenting . We sat at a piano bar?? With him sitting on one end and I was on the the end. Was so tongue tied, I couldn’t even speak. But he kept smiling at me. A memory I’ll never forget.
I loved Liberace. I always wondered what happened to his clothes, his beautiful rings. His house that fell into decay is now back to some of its original grandeur. Thanks to someone who cared what happened to his belongings. Remembered always. Gershwin would have been so proud to hear his magical fingers playing his music.
Well, most of his costumes and jewelry are displayed at Michael Jackson's old house in Las Vegas. They are now owned by Liberace's foundation. He DID give a certain amount of them away before he died and most of those were auctioned off when the people he gave them too eventually died and their greedy families wanted the money.
@@retroguy9494 Thank you so much! I saw a lot of his things at the Liberace museum in Las Vegas years ago. Well, that museum closed and I wondered what happened to the contents. Now that I know where they are, I’ll have to go see them next time I’m in Vegas. Thanks again!

Its so obvious that this very talented man didn't take himself so seriously that he was afraid to be the butt of a self deprecating gag or lack the ability to be in on the joke when it came to his over the top wardrobe . As they say...Liberace cried all the way to the bank. God bless you Lee.
I started piano at 4. After A few times through a music chart I did it by ear 👂. If you start early it just becomes words in a poem. I r 68 n still play a lot. Made a living at it for a couple decades. It is like nothing else. Loved Victor Borga as well. They were gifts to the planet. Glad for the youtube living history book.
vivienne i so agree with you - you know it would any way, but especially because of youtube it really will..... thank god for youtube. i watch hours of youtube very lil tv any more except for golden girls and frasier hahah
It always amazed me how those big rings of his didn't get in the way of his fingers. Some of the compositions he played required a LOT of dexterity in the fingers.
When I was kid practicing piano my Dad would often say to me. When you can play like Liberace then you will truly know how to play. I did not quite get there and still cant play anywhere near as well. But he was one of the musicians that inspired me to keep playing. he really knew how to have fun with music and gave joy to so many people around the world. I will be 68 next birthday and have been teaching music for nearly 35 years now.
I played the piano for 20 years & I LOVED Liiberce (still do). My boyfriend got us subscription tickets for seeing concerts at 'Garden States Arts Center'. Every year during the summer series, we got tickets to see a Liberace - & other classical & rock groups. It was about year 6 of seeing Liberace & the Dancing Waters & my man Jim, leaned over to me during one of the musical breaks, where Liberace invited the audience to come on down to the stage, & see his diamonds. He said if I didn't go down to see him at the end of this conversation with the audience, he'd never take me again. I always dressed for the occasion & realized these women going down the main aisle, were my grandmother's age. They walked very slowly, some with walkers or canes. I scampered down a side aisle (I was young) & was the first to reach the stage. It was so cool! He did his routine of "do you want to see my diamonds?". Of course, I said. His orchestra started playing a Strauss waltz, & he invited me on stage to dance with him. He helped me up the stage stairs and we walzted together. He was GOOD! And smelled good. (Don't care what his sexual orientation was, he's was a child prodigy, & put on a great show.!!!) It was probably more exciting than my wedding day. I saw the Beatles at Shea Stadium in '65, the Stones in '67 & this Liberace concert surpassed the great groups & artists I had seen. He was such a talented & versitile performer & I got such a kick out of him. Especially THAT night! Rest in Peace, Liberace.💔
Wonderful performance. Liberace always treated everyone special. He was a class act. Few entertainers today have the relationship with the fans like he did. He was loved and respected by his fans because he always put on a great show. I think Liberace understood people well. He knew that some of the people in the audience lives sucked and his show was going to be one of the special times in their lives. So, Liberace put for the extra effort to give those pour souls their money's worth. There are nice videos of Liberace performing with Elvis. They put on a few great shows. Liberace's interpretation of Gershwin's composition is brilliant and has an existential artistic domain uncommon. The showmanship in this performance was utterly outstanding. BRAVO.
Today new generations don’t appreciate this beautiful performances, but they are fabulous, for more civilized times. Those were the true days of wine and roses. Little did I knew about Liberace life and doing until I recently watch the movie Behind the chandelier, and I thought, how can a man became so famous by playing piano, but it was not until I watched this video that I understand that he excel in doing it! Now I’m just an other fan of Liberace. Bravo.
A master showman and an incredibly accomplished pianist. The ACCURACY here is astounding. Not a note missed. Not a note wrong. Liberace is a nation treasure. And although it was many years in the making - he was finally free at the end to be HIMSELF and the fans embraced him.
this is so much fun to watch. i'm into psyhedelic, rock, jazz, etc so this is new to me. liberace blows my mind. what an incredible musician and performer. wow.
Liberace, a great Master at the Piano Keyboard. I grew up watching Liberace on our black and white Hoffman TV set. (Remember Black and white TV?) Didn't want to miss a show. Came on the air every week. That being said, I have reviewed many of the comments on this site, and they are mostly all good! Liberace was the best. Some folks out there still love good music. Your good comments said it all for me. Thank you!
I saw Liberace here in Australia, decades ago. Also saw him on TV when I was little, saw his house whilst on tourist bus in America, so happy I did. Great pianist. His mother was a very attractive lady too.
Out on the Big Cypress Seminole Indian Reservation in the Florida Swamp. We had only a radio in early 1950s. A bunch of older Indians would gather around by the camp fire. Just listen to him!!! I'm 76 years old now , enjoy his music Sho na bish
Not taking anything away from Liberace's remarkable gifts, but check out great classical pianists who also play without sheet music, much more difficult pieces, in 90 minute performances.
@@wearewinning3151 I watch the Van Cliburn competition from time to time and they are remarkable. But I dont see Liberace sweating a performance like they do.
My father, who served in the USMC, Korean War Veteran, and a damn good piano player, thought that Liberace was the best pianist in the world. He listened to his records and watched every time he was on television. When it was confirmed that Liberace was gay, you could tell that it bothered him, but he remained a fan until his dying day.
My Wife and I saw him at Lake Tahoe in 1980. Those who did not see him perform missed a chance to witness greatness. Not only as a real human being but as a performer extraordinaire, an artist, and absolutely brilliant pianist. There will never be another like him and well there should not be. I mean that in a very good way,, his sexual orientation has nothing what-so-ever to do with his brilliance and his contributions to mankind.

I had the privilege of attending one of his concerts at the Pacific National Exhibition in Vancouver, Canada many years ago. It was amazing! I relive the joy I felt by watching these vidios. Thank you 😊🇨🇦
I love Liberace, he was a wonderful person. Everyday I listen his wonderful music.
Its so obvious that this very talented man didn't take himself so seriously that he was afraid to be the butt of a self deprecating gag or lack the ability to be in on the joke when it came to his over the top wardrobe . As they say...Liberace cried all the way to the bank. God bless you Lee.
Actually - He said it. He created that line! Yes an amazing musician and a humongous talent. Never another like him!

Such flair. No matter what his love-style was/is, watching & listening to his lightness/funness is refreshing. I would loved to have met him!!!
His immortal music will forever live on for generations to come.
vivienne i so agree with you - you know it would any way, but especially because of youtube it really will..... thank god for youtube. i watch hours of youtube very lil tv any more except for golden girls and frasier hahah
His souls playing the piano, his fingers are just the tools...
It always amazed me how those big rings of his didn't get in the way of his fingers. Some of the compositions he played required a LOT of dexterity in the fingers.

Yep, shows how talented he was. Makes something that's hard look effortless and easy...
Fabolous!
My grandpa was great piano performer, and a unconditional Liberace fan.
Thanx for this!
How are you doing today my name is Eric Moore
My late dad loved Liberace....never missed his show on TV or any specials he was in. I grew to love him too.....RIP...
A very nice story! Thanks for sharing!! Yes, Liberace was without equal!!
LOL.
OLO!
Thank you for sharing this story, what year was that? I am a super big fan of his. everyone who knew him spoke well him him like you did:)
Hermoso, agrega a esta preciosa obra musical de George Gershwin, su talento y estilo.
Class act all the way. One of my favorites. I shed tears every time I hear this. Wish he were living now.
Magicien de la scène salles combles à laissé une fortune considerable
This man was so perfect!! My God! Absolution! Perfection!! Blows me away..
You are right David
Phenomenal, there are no other words ...
BRAVO.
He was a brilliant entertainer and pianist, enjoyed watching him as a child with my parents!
I love Liberace. He is very funny, very nice and a terrific pianist and entertainer. I miss you Lee. Wish you were still here.
Bravo.
Magnificent, there is not another like him.
showmanlee Thank you for this wonderful share ... I grew up with Liberace's Music Shows on English TV ~ wonderful showman but fantastic at the piano
Can't even imagine the things about music that are in his brain! To be so talented!
He made a lot of people laugh and lighten up their emotional environment. This is a great performance of Rhapsody in Blue.
This isn't Rhapsody in Blue. It's shortened version with all the difficult piano stuff cut out.
It's a group of Gershwin songs.

Liberace "but I couldn't come out just in the buttons" - sublime!
"If the beads are turned the wrong way, its murder! One bead will do it!" LMAO
LIBERACE!!! The greatest!!!! can't beat him. Thanks for posting.
THE MUSIC OF GEORGE GERSHWIN IS SOME OF THE MOST BEAUTIFUL MUSIC THAT HAS EVER BEEN COMPOSED!
Every time he was on tv my parents let me watch him, even late at night…..he was simply the best! Greetings from Germany!
A master showman and an incredibly accomplished pianist. The ACCURACY here is astounding. Not a note missed. Not a note wrong. Liberace is a nation treasure. And although it was many years in the making - he was finally free at the end to be HIMSELF and the fans embraced him.
Buenas noches gran maestro no puedo dormir sin oírlo tocar el hermoso piano
I can only say that Liberace was good for the soul.

He's a THRILLING performer!!
Thank you!
Talented man. Beautiful piano player excellent. .
I miss Liberace. he had a god given talent. class act.🎶🎼🎵
Totally right.
How are you doing today my name is Eric Moore
What a showman he was. Fabulous.
Rhapsody in Blue is one of my favorite pieces of music. (If not THE favorite.) This is a marvelous rendition.
Amen (my favorite)
His ability to play so many pieces of music from memory is un-human. Incredible
Not taking anything away from Liberace's remarkable gifts, but check out great classical pianists who also play without sheet music, much more difficult pieces, in 90 minute performances.
It's not particularly rare. All top level concert pianists can do that.
@@tradewins how many top level pianists are out there?
@@wearewinning3151 I watch the Van Cliburn competition from time to time and they are remarkable. But I dont see Liberace sweating a performance like they do.
@@kenbrohere quite a few. If you do some checking around UA-cam you'll see
A very gifted player. It brings joy t those hurt lost souls andales them smile and warms their souls.Stirs one's soul.
Applause applause, pianist of the highest masters.
Thank you for the memories
The master at work. One word WONDERFUL.
My mother played piano and she loved this guy.
Bravo! Magnificent! And without commercials interruption. Priceless!
Thank You.
Rhapsody in Blue played perfectly amongst everything else he played
I saw him in person twice over the years .What a showman and musician he was ! 😮 Unforgettable Great memories
I was about 10 when he appeared on TVs in Australia. Everything stopped in our house to watch him. Thanks for the opportunity to watch again.

Wow he was only 4 years old when he started to play his piano and 39 years that is awesome god bless Liberace I love Gershwin actually I love classical music and operas this is so beautiful How Liberace is playing it very enchanting this guy was one of a kind no one could ever be close to be like him he was real not fake at all He loved what he did Best playing his piano and entertaining everyone with his music and storytelling.
