    Joe when I was a junior mechanic at a Chrysler Plymouth dealership (early-mid '80s), there were still a bunch of BB MoPars still roaming the streets in original condition. Many Cordoba 400-LeanBurns, 440 LB New Yorkers, a few Chargers and Road Runners here and there. One I was always impressed with, was a 1968 Imperial 440. I think it was the T-N-T model, it had chrome valve covers and air cleaner lid with dual snorkles. The owner actually KNEW Walter P. Chrysler personally (from a yacht club they were in), and bought the car up north in late 1967. I built the BUDD 4-piston calipers (much bigger than a Corvette's) and put valve cover gaskets (surprise) on it, among other things. The motor was spotless inside, and it ran STRONG, albeit with a healthy spark rattle. I ran some MoPar carbon cleaner through it, and fiddled with the timing, but it still rattled some at WOT with 93oct. Some 20yrs later I did a TH400 trans in a one-owner '68 Wildcat for a retired school teacher and it ran similarly strong (430 Buick, predecessor to the 455) with that same spark knock/rattle. Those were the DAYS!!

    Good choice in plugs . I run NGK all the time in mopars and jeeps . Also try the NGK plugs for 2000 + jeep cherokee 4.0 the porcelain tower and ground electrode is taller but wont interfere with pistons or valves. it move the spark more towards the middle of pistion and away from head incase of arcing . • @JustMoparJoe
      @JustMoparJoe  11 місяців тому +1

      I’m not sure on the accuracy of the ammeter. The battery was weak from the car being cranked and cranked (rather than priming it with fuel). I charged it overnight and it looks nicer now. As for timing, I’m not certain that the balancer marks are accurate. But I can be sure that what the amount of mechanical advance is, and the amount of advance that the vacuum added. I was able to drive and adjust both by checking the plugs, running the engine at different loads, and listening for any kind of ping. I don’t think the marks are inaccurate, as one time I spun it to tdc, the mark landed almost exactly on the 0 of the pointer.

Where too or what can I do with the coil now? Any ideas Brother would be greatly appreciated. I want it to look decent as I put the car in local shows, so whatever I do with it has to at least be decent-looking. • @JustMoparJoe
      @JustMoparJoe  Місяць тому +1

      Thanks brother! You may have to get creative with your coil placement. They make a post that allows the coil to pass through the firewall, but it would require a long wire. You may be able to run a flat piece of steel strap to the stock intake bolts, and then bolt your stock bracket to it. Or run the flat strap to one or two of the valley pan hold down bolts.

    • @CutthroatMcRage
      @CutthroatMcRage Місяць тому

      @@JustMoparJoe Joe,Would it make any real difference if I run a long coil plug wire say from the cap to the firewall? You know instead of the shortie normal one buy some 7 or number 8 spark plug wire and make it to run the distance. I don't think it would lose any juice right? Cause could maybe mount it to the passenger side of the firewall or mount it on the passenger wheel well which neatly to do instead of straight across from the engine like a drawbridge rier loom best neater way run the wire to the firewall then a few feet to the left then off the firewall along to the front side of the wheel well with the wire then do the coil plug wire straight across to the coil to the cap. Think the firewall would be best as could use the factory coil intake manifold bracket just bolt it to the firewall. Then just make up a long plug wire/coil wire to go from the distributor cap to the firewall-mounted coil. Joe what ya think about that lol? Think it would work out and look ok as long as the longer coil plug wire from the cap to the coil won't matter juice-wise. Electric wire not worrying about that would be fine it is the long coil wire which I personally think would be ok to do. Prob be the path of least resistance to do, Easiest way.
