Hello, Mopar Joe, thanks a ton for your awesome review!! As you can see, we upped the discount to 10% off, when mentioning the Mopar Joe Discount!! You must call to get it.. We also have a taller mechanical version, that plugs directly into the MSD box. Also, we have a conversion pigtail, that converts the Mopar plug end, to the MSD pigtail. Also, we will be sending MOPAR Joe a conversion cap. We are the only manufacturer making a male terminal cap, for the Mopar Electronic Ignition Distributor. Looking forward to reading reviews, and Mopar Joes excellent tips and Mopar knowledge on his channel!!
I appreciate that! I have the best viewers on UA-cam. I’m looking forward to tuning the big block fury and the ramcharger with the units I have. The best part will be the 440 build I have coming up with trick flow 240’s and the firecore distributor, on the dyno!
My older Mopar Performance distributer has the same kind of adjustment using those exact same red ‘keys’. The numbers on those red keys are the degrees of advance your dialing in. The MP units were made by Mallory but they changed to a different design years ago. Good to know that it’s available again thru FireCore!!
You are correct!! I had one on my 440. Very easy to adjust. I have an MSD dizzy on my 360. Also easy to adjust mechanical advance with different colored spacers.
I hope these work out good. Seemed like a good bang for the buck! Also they have a slimmer profile to hopefully fit with aftermarket heads and valve covers.
great video, Im installing this distributor in my 66 Belvedere equipped with a 1970 motor, performance distributor with a factory appearance. 10% Mopar Joe
Cheap parts store distributors have burned me more than once; you can't help but Dr. them just to work decently if at all. This FireCore distributor looks like a really good quality piece😁👏👏👏! Thanks brother 🍻
I'll check that out! Bought one of those Proform 66991 kits a while back, its made in Taiwan! Was for my 68 D200 but I stuck just the distributor into the 81 W250 with the new 273. Was actually checking the total timing and how fast it comes in today, its plenty good enough for that truck. I'll need another distributor for the 68 when it goes together and don't want imported stuff. But I am cheap and might recurve an old Chrysler one. 😂
Hi Joe, I just 440 swapped my D100 and the distributor that came with the motor is a Jegs 40506 billit and it's the same distributor. Still trying too figure the bugs out with timing and curve but so far impressed
It definitely helps with do ding replacement parts, and the pickup is a stronger magnet than stock. I will try to get the install video on this one, this week.
That is awesome Joe !! I love it and will buy one for my stroker small block build !! Thank you for sharing and explaining. Are they reasonably priced ??
Yes sir! Around $200 to your door, if you call and mention my channel. That’s over $100 less than an msd. He did say they offer a plug in to convert to an msd harness if you run any msd boxes.
@@JustMoparJoe that’s is a great deal. I have a Pertronix flame thrower 3 right now with built in rev limiter. Had it in my first 3 and recurved it and it worked awesome I that motor . Will try it first n if not happy will got to this distributor next. Or just buy it n see which I like best ?? Thank you Joe.
I think I was checking these guys out a few years back but had passed them up because nobody I knew had used their products. Iirc these have a billet housing and such, they definitely went the extra mile. These dizzys are just superior engineering to our factory ones, sorry Ma. If I can ever get some cash put together Im thinking about having a go at that Firecore unit. All I know for certain is the next distributor, and/or parts, I buy WILL NEVER be another refurbished/reman job from a parts store. They are complete junk knockoffs from dorman aka china. Every single old mopar I have ever had has had that factory vac advance module yoinked and swapped for a tunable one. Just a 1/16" or 3/32" allen wrench into the hose nipple, turn left or right until happy. I even made a cheap "testing tool" for bench (or in car) tuning using some vacuum hose and a 100cc irrigation syringe from a vet.
Progressive Ignition distrubutor is superior all u do via bluetooth adjust timing while u drive or park in real time. I think u would love the data logging.
Setting a timing table is an old idea. I can do the same thing with my digital MSD box on my challenger, except that engine uses the crank and cam sensors to monitor the timing. I’ve got a digital box to go on my purple car as well. In that case, you lock the distributor and let the ecu control where the timing goes. I like the adjustment, but as they say, “with great power comes great responsibility.” Many people don’t know enough about ignition timing to adjust their curves like that. This distributor is the quick and easy solution to the old worn out stuff. And gives you quick reliability. I know people who have old Mopar’s and use a flip phone! I think they like simple and effective. I will definitely try the progressive someday and get some videos about it.
Those remind me of the old Mallory dual point when you want her to Saturday total number of degrees do you have a red key with a number stamped on each end
So slap me if I’m going in wrong direction. I bought a progression ignition distributor . My plan is not necessarily to leave it in the car, but to use it to find the best settings on my phone. Initial timing, mechanical, all in and vacume can all be tweaked from the drivers seat. Once I find the sweet spot, I can recurve my distributor to match. Kinda like a distributor machine only cheaper.
@@JustMoparJoe I really starting to like these. Now the test of time has been met with great results. You should look into them. Maybe they will send you one to toy with and do a video!! 👍
@@Coronetguy I have played with a similar setup using the msd box on my hemi swap. You can set timing all across the Rpm range. It gives you a plot to make your changes on, but you’ve gotta have your computer all the time
@@JustMoparJoe yep, and that’s just it, with this, an app and your cell phone, your in full control. I know it goes against all purist Mopar folks, but damn it’s an awesome product. Tall John would crap I’m sure! 😂
I had to take a look back at every comment you’ve ever left me. None of them show any kind of support for what I’m doing. EVERY one of your comments has been contrary to any decision I’ve made, then ended with a put down. Look at the above comment. “Good for a person that hasn’t done this 40 years, I guess.” The old distributor I held up was locked out by my dad. It worked fine. But his limited mindset wouldn’t allow him to have nice things that last. I own two welders. I own and sell FBO plates. I don’t have the time to dig out an old junk distributor, clean it up, replace the magnetic pickup, trust that the old bushings are good, install a plate or weld it, put it in the car and realize that it’s too high of an initial advance and the starter drags. Then have to pull it back out, file the “welded” slots, then reinstall everything. There’s 6+ hours of work that I could have been making money instead of trying to use old junk. It’s not fair to my customer to charge him for all the hours. Don’t waste your money, but I’m not wasting anyone else’s.
The magnetic pickup is less finicky and will outlast most points. The msd is a fine option to use with this distributor. Modern point’s replacements are being offered with less quality
And the next video in line will be a guy saying don't lock your disturber out even if you race it, who is right I give up Joe, HEI conversion your thoughts is that the best alternative
I’m glad to say that I’m gaining more experience with each of them. My 400 was on the dyno with the DUI distributor that had coil and hei module made in. It worked great. It was a massive unit that most mopar guys would hate. The FireCore is a nice drop in that could replace the current distributor in your mopar. It uses a magnetic pickup similar to an msd. Both units would require a good ecu to power them. The hei may be the least expensive choice but takes some external wiring and kills the originality when you open the hood. I’d say choose what’s best for your price point. Some guys would jump straight to an msd and plug it all and go. This distributor company makes an easy adapter to convert the mopar plug to the msd harness. My race car is locked out, with a feature in the ecu that pulls 10 degrees for the start up.

I was waiting on someone to bring up the smart phone distributors. But if you’re doing that, why not use a programmable ignition box and laptop for tuning? What’s the failure rate of Bluetooth stuff? How hard is it to find replacement parts, while on the road? This is bridging the gap between reusing an old stock unit and using a crank trigger.
