So Robert genuine question....if you didnt have the harness/rough running issue would you be looking at a new truck? No right? You are going to purchase a truck in NY with no pre purchase report, with a def system that will limp mode you at the blink of an eye and drain you financially with the interest rate and future repairs. Think it through....ffs

When you buy truck with auto trans, have it reprogrammed, it will stop all that crap shifting! Those trucks are set up from factory for fuel mileage! Once programmed, auto is awesome!

Did you know that Freightliners and Western Stars are of the same family? The DT12 refers means it's a Detroit Transmission 12 speed automatic.
The motor that you have in there is a DD 15. The transmission is a DT 12 automatic. It’s a rental truck so you’ll probably only have the motor set to 400 hp. It probably has a funky number on the rear ends making it hard on fuel. And mine is a DD 15 with a 13 speed 307 rear ends I average 8 to 10 miles to the gallon.

I wouldn’t drive a truck with these warning systems. Now i wouldn’t want to drive one WITHOUT these systems……..takes a little getting used to, but you do get used to it.

U Can Set Transmission to Economy ~ Performance Mode ~ & Manual Mode.. make sure you have the transmission ECM tuned so you can switch it from economy to Performance to manual and then you can click shift it and it'll hold the gear

Performance mode holds it in gear longer, but it will return to economy mode automatically. You can turn off all those bells and whistles with a computer

Oil pressure is normal when it goes to idle if you want to stop that used to Jake brake handle at the top push in and it goes to manual so then she doesn’t go to neutral
Robert, DT12 is the transmission. Pensky most likely has that truck turned down. My freightliner has a 13 speed manual. She rides nice because I have 16ply steers & change the front shocks every year.

23:50 those freakin' Volvos will honk when doing that! These types of trucks are meant for the Mega carriers because they're putting inexperienced drivers into the driver seats. It's a CYA thing when they run someone over or spreads their load all over the countryside!
There’s a button to turn that lane sensor off and when it turns back on you can just turn it off
DT 12 is the Trans model and 12 speed! The lane change can be shutoff, but just for certain amount of time! That trans shift patterns can be changed with computer!
If it's a Cummins motor, it's a high volume/ low pressure oil pressure.

You can't turn the safety stuff off, however you can order it without it.

I am guessing you went to Volvo? The Volvo automated is the best out there !! I had 5 Volvos over the years and never had any issues with Volvo. Freightliner the "Rookie Truck"
Idling at 20 psi is normal for the newer engines. I’m sitting in my 2021 T680 with Cummins X15 idling at 21 psi

I’m pretty sure all these newer trucks have low oil pressure because they are running thinner oil in them. At least that’s what I’ve noticed with the lease Pete’s at my work. They run 5w-30

I know you're probably out of the thing but if you leave the yellow button pushed in and out of gear, it'll idle all night without regening. Also there's a "ldw" button on the dash somewhere that will turn the rumble strip simulator off.
It's also pretty normal for those trucks to read the needle at 10-50 psi oil pressure

all these new trucks do the forced regens, freightliners the only one that keeps me up all night.

For the oil pressure to be that low either the oil is thin (overdue on an oil change) or the main bearings are worn

I agree on the 13 speed... mine was advertised as a 10 speed and I didn't figure it out right away. Real happy with it, being able to split all the upper gears makes hauling heavy easy. I've had one load that I grossed out a little over 78K with half a tank of fuel. Fancy Gap on 77 was easy...
@@truckinfool3550 LMAO! YES... "6th" in the 10 speed position is a ghost gear on a 13... same ratio as 5th. I just thought I was rusty as hell. Once I figured it out, then holy cow what a difference. Just had that transmission replaced and now it shifts like butter.
If you're buying a Volvo, the auto tranny is nice and it rides nice.
In Eco Mode the Truck shuts the engine off going down hill. Since the engine is off the oil pressure drops to zero or nearly zero.

They say when your pulling a flatbed or tanker you should hook a mid roof to it. The height of the truck causes some kind of drag, I would guess your Mack is considered a mid roof truck.

The engine is the DD15 or DD13. The DT12 is the transmission. Most full-size double bunk Cascadias have the DD15 engine.
You have to bring your ldle up to 900 or 1000 to keep the filter from getting full of soot It will leave you on side of road
Some of that safety stuff may have been installed (and you unable to shut off) by Penske due to it being a rental truck. I don't know. Stay safe and hope your repairs get ya back in the road.
You can turn the rumbles drip warning buzzer off for like five minutes at a time.
