  • Michael Oberdorf, an Ohio Turnpike assistant foreman, was setting up a work zone at milepost 124.6 westbound in Erie County when his work vehicle was struck by a motorist driving a pickup truck and trailer on June 21, 2024.
“My message to everyone is slow down and move over. Give us a chance to do our job. Eliminate distractions. Put your cell phones down. Pay attention,” said Oberdorf, who was sitting inside his vehicle during the crash. “As roadside workers, we want to get home safely just like our patrons.”
When approaching a vehicle with flashing lights on the side of the road, motorists are required by law to MOVE OVER and SLOW DOWN.
