- Dustin’s VINwiki Stories about Rob “Lonman”: • Rob “Lonman”: the most...
My favorite experience while filming Mischief over the years was riding shotgun with Rob in his GT2 during the 2003 Cannonball Run Europe (It says “2004” in the video, my bad). Day 3, flat out in Spain & France. I’m pretty good at holding a camera steady in a moving car but it was pretty difficult with Rob was driving. We had lipstick cameras on this rally but they were mounted on the Mondeo.
Believe it or not, my ride with Rob was only 5 hours long. After our lunch break, I jumped back in the Mondeo with Dado. I was so overwhelmed by my morning ride with Rob that I got a migraine. Do you know what cured my migraine? “Battle of the Rentals” with the guys in the Focus. By the afternoon the Mondeo was dead and I had other things to worry about besides a headache. Craziest day in my entire life.
As I mentioned before, we grew out of driving like this. We’ve very been lucky over the years.
Rob no longer participates in rallies and isn’t on social media. He sold the GT2 back in 2006/07. I’m not sure where the car is today. Rob currently lives in Malta. - Dustin

Dustin, when was this event? September 2003?
These were the golden years!
Ok so I couldve missed something in the video but it looks like the cops never even saw you guys??
Damn impressive
Edit: nope I just hadn't finished the vid yet
What a drive. 💪💪 Must have seen it 100 times on Invasion. Awesome to see the extended cut! Thank you!
I think I know why Rob stopped. His luck was bound to run out one day and he clearly knew when to stop. Insane driving!
Figureight oh hello there
How do you know hes not still driving like a mad man? Or if hes dead or not? Dont act like you know him lmao
@@Jroc412 have you seen the vinwiki video?
Screamingbag what’s the vid
He got kicked out of Gumball.
This guy is a madman. He really gets to drive like he's in Forza Horizon.
Except, unlike the rest of us plebeians, he never murdered a poor NPC car...
He’s drives is too cocky he has never done proper street racing
@@apashe974 how many races have you won in your GT2?
@@apashe974 i mean they are kinda racing around the world... so...
I screwed up the year of the Cannonball Run Europe rally. This is actually the 2003 event featured in "Mischief 4 Invasion". The full DVD movie will be on UA-cam later this Spring.
You are the man Dustin :) Can you upload the DVD extras/bonus sections aswell please.
Will other ones be uploaded after no4? I missed one of the last ones on dvd
And to think, this was a brand new GT2 when this was filmed.. what was most likely the most expensive Porsche being produced at the time.
Yeah it was a brand new Porsche at the time and now over 18 years old
It was the most expensive road-going mass produced 911 to date. The 911 GT1 was more expensive, but not mass produced, and the 959 was more expensive, but not strictly a 911.
Other than the Carrara GT probably yeah
To leave an 1 hour behind the entire rally pack and still manage to make it first is an insane amount of driving. Much respect for this legend!
It’s insane
That M5 overtake on the twisty bit made me anxious! I can't even imagine how it felt for Rob!
Like nothing probably
The guy is a LEGEND. please post everything you got with him.
hes an idiot. clearly endangering peoples lives. if he crashed into your mom, you wouldnt be calling him a legend.
@@AB-sr9mc He never crashed he's retired from all the rallys now this guy knows his car only one that was iffy was him overtaking the range rover on a blind bend
@@lockenessmotorsports818 it's on public roads. Not a race track. Unexpected things can happen. It's downright fucking stupid.
@@AB-sr9mc why are you even on this channel? Or watching classic gumball videos in the first place
This is awesome! All those years of a few minute clips of the GT2 and we now have this. Thank You Dustin!
It's so cool going back and watching this SIXTEEN year later. The mountain section of this footage was always one of my favorites of all the Mischief films. Rob is an absolute madman! Hope he sees this. Rob, you're a legend mate!
Riding with Rob probably took years off your life. The guy is insane with some of his overtaking moves.
What a mad lad! Ever since I started watching Mischief as a kid I wanted to buy that man a drink.
The most underrated car video of 2020. This should of been viral (again) by now
Had the similar route recently around pyrenees mountains and andorra. I think the latest tunnel is envalira tunnel near Encamp...
Unfortunately, nowadays all european mountain roads are infested by tourist traffic and speed traps…. Not glorifying the every move in the video but you guys really lived at the golden era of driving… 🥺
I feel like, late 90's and early 2000‘s were a very healthy mix of analog experience and technology in terms of driving and also life in general.
1CPU is now registered to a VW Transporter Van
that's hilarious
Epic footage, Rob is a true legend in high performance street driving. Say what you want, but that man and that GT2 are still standing to this day.
The GT2 is still driven hard but he sold it
'High performance street driving' lmao
Your legends are weak he drives like he just got his license he barely anticipated what’s is in front on his eyes and drive like a truck driver in the mountains
@@apashe974 he never crashed and he's definitely got unreal car control
@@lockenessmotorsports818 ahaha he have no commitment when choosing his lane in the traffic he’s so slow
borrow me the same car i’ll shoot a better video
But nobody gonna have the balls to borrow so i will built my Porsches and my Nissan hope in a few years the community will be ready 🤡
Man you guys were having a good time back in 03. Would do anything to have been a part of this. Great viddy.
the golden times
Watching this over again for maybe the 4th time, i have to say dustin really nailed the camera work in this
It was tough trying to keep the camera still especially with Lonman behind the wheel. My old sony was very heavy so it didnt' get thrown as much. We had prototype lipstick cameras but they were on the Mondeo rental at the time. Good times! - Dustin
@@mischieftelevision haha i could imagine, either way great video and hopefully you and lonman can meet back up one day for another video, i heard you tried to recently but because of lockdown reasons it didnt happen, maybe second times a charm.
What an honor. Fucking legend. Lonman and that machine are not of this world. Great camerawork and passenger courtesy too!
I've watched this a couple times now and it's just insane. Props to Dustin for having the balls to drive with him. To have balls to drive like that is one thing, but to put your life in their hands takes even more balls. Good stuff.
It was so difficult keeping this huge Sony camera steady while riding with Rob. We had a lipstick camera system but it was set up in our Mondeo rental. This is still the best ridealong in a car Ive had and this was 20yrs ago - Dustin
Seeing this is sooo damn cool, specially because I get to see how Barcelona, Spain (my city) looked back in the days, and secondly because the route they have taken to go to France is the same I do when I go to Andorra, so cool to see how it looked 16 years ago! Not to mention how amazing Lonman driving is and that 996 GT2😍🤤
Turbo Flat 6. The best sounding engine. Forever and always.
Throw a turbo or two on a six-cylinder Subaru Legacy, you'll probably disagree with that statement. Porsche really knows their stuff.
my british friend in highschool owned an e92 m3 and whipped it like an absolute mad man. this video takes me back to how i felt riding in that car. best memories.
21:50
Dustin: "Lotus"
Rob: *drops a gear*
You rock Dustin , have a great day bro !
Thanks loads for sharing this Dustin! This is the entertainment we all needed while locked in our homes.
A great thank you for the complete footage..... amazing stuff, it seems so long ago! I got it the year it came out, but the years just flew by!
Love it! Been looking for years for more crazy stuff on Rob's driving and now this
Thanks Dustin!
So sick, great driving. Thanks for uploading all the extra footage!!
This video totally made my day, I will definitely come later to rewatch it again, for a few moments I felt like back in 2003.
Thank you Dustin
This bring back memories. Thanks Dustin, Dado and Rob.
Lonman is a legend... great and insane driving!
31:20 Epic moment. Gosh, I was a child when all this things happened. I used to see in the Spanish TV News all the videos bitching about those kind of rallies and I always promised myself to participate in some of those when I grow up. It has been a great motivation to evolve and work hard. Now I am getting closer to being able to afford this kind of things, but I guess in a world full of cameras, radas and BS regulations about anything related with cars, those times are over. Thanks for posting those videos, at least gives some memories from times that will never exist again.
Also, good to see you releasing stuff again. The VINwiki stories were great!
This is exactly what I need during lockdown
"For another 70 miles" lol Justin, Rob i remember seeing him in USA gumball i think it was. I was 10-13 during those early and imo best years of mischief. Keep posting specials like this there must be more! Thank you for posting!
Pretty sure that gt2 is worth a lot just because of the history it has with Rob 😂
But the abuse it has seen 😂😂😂
Think someone still owns it got sold on pistonheads a uk car enthusiast site here
I've already watched this entire thing once, I will watch it again sometime.
I'm simple, I see a GT2 996...I click and watch it...
100%
Dude the curves through the hills looks like some serious work...loved these vids since the early 2000s...yall are the reason I went on to own 3 German vehicles...lol... I still want to actually do this exact scenario
I could literally watch this all day
This kicks ass man. Thank you for posting 🔥
I have been soooo waiting for this. Love it!
I keep coming back to this video. It's therapy
Holy sh*t, this is mental! Much love from Finland!
I forget how intense this part of the movie was. 😅
That’s some proper driving
37 minutes of awesome anxiety. I had a wish brake impressed to the floor of my man cave the entire time. Thanks for the amazing video mate. I need a drink of scotch now. Legendary.
Robs a legend!
Mate, always knew lonman was a Lunatic and pushed the limits!! This footage was epic!!
This was amazing content. Love that you are uploading all the old school stuff on here.
Holy shit its me
@@kingssuck06 Holy shit, sup' me
I have to be “that guy” and say this....Rob has a lot of experience. Don’t try and imitate this.
I’ve done some sketchy maneuvers on the road, but Lonmans driving takes the cake. I’d shit myself if I was shotgun. 🤣🤣
18:31 absolut mad
Those overtakes where utterly stupid, but must admit the mountain road section was ace. This guy really had the hang over his car.
Everyone in gumball used to pass on the shoulder
Wow.. what a LEGEND!
This gives me serious getaway in Stockholm vibes
Man that GT2 flies.
Stuff like this makes me wish I was born in 1972 so I had the money to go on stuff like this instead of 2006.
Great coverage though my man....God I wish I could have been there...
This guy is the reason why i started doing rallies, only not the kind with stickers. Mainly underground covert group events across europe
This guy is a legend!!!
perfect combination of capable driver and capable car.
😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅 OMG this is THE best 37 mins I have ever spent. Absolute LEGEND!!!!!
Even just watching this it felt like an eternity. That it was only 5 hours seems unbelievable lol
what a f*cking mad lad!!!
That Skoda was flying!
What a maniac. Love it!
Frosted tips… ohh early 2000s we loved you 😂😂
awesome driving
Insane driving, wow
This was back when people really drove their cars & not just stood in one spot to rev the crap out of them for flames or just did burnouts.
Or just do 20-60 pulls on the freeway, like come on doing 20mph on the freeway why even bother at that point
@@Garf2O true dat 👍
@@stevedavis2473 im doing the opposite of most people at my age, i have a boring looking car but i drive it to its limits some of the time but i dont try to "drift" either, car meet people usually drive like grandmas around town anyway which is lame

@@stevedavis2473 its not a sleeper i just drive like a nut sometimes
That’s how you fucking drive! Amazing footage Dustin keep it coming :)
Nice to meet the man behind the wheel of (It's Not A Race It's A Rally) ..... If anyone dont know that phrase just UA-cam it for one of the Gumball Rally videos
Wonder what Rob is up to nowadays, awesome video! Legendary stuff right here
Dustin mentioned that Rob apparently stopped going to rallies years ago and is still living in Scotland. The GT2 is also somewhere around there, though I‘m not sure whether Rob still owns it. I have read that his license plate, 1 CPU, is now registered to a VW Van. Rob works in telecommunications and I believe that he still works. Dustin also mentioned that Rob commented once under one of the videos on here but he otherwise hasn’t really been in touch with him. Apparently he (-> Dustin) is also planning to find the GT2 and unite it with the Mondeo, their rental car, which he bought years after the Rallye
alya(dj taucher remix) ! getting deep into trance/house/techno after watching these, this vibe can't be replicated sadly
I wish there was a rally game like this where you're supposed to win by driving thru traffic and not breaking too many laws :D
one for books! when road rallies were about the driving
aye something good to watch while inside thx
Watched this when it was posted in 2020 and just rewatched. Fucking insanity hahahaha... so good. Rob beating the shit outta a 19k mile 996 GT2 is just nuts to watch.
Rob looks like he could be Schmee's older brother.
Wow, pure Internet gold
Man this whole thing just makes me want to go for a drive right about now...
The good old days where not everyone had a phone to call the cops and video your car for them
Dustin is there any chance of tracking down the footage from the Range Rover at 18:10?
Yes please!
Gt2 Rob is the best rally driver know to man kind without a doubt
those were the days…
Been waiting for this video so much !!!
Where is Rob he is not present od social media...
I was wondering the same thing, wonder if Dustin knows anything.
@@Levent_Ergun some guy on vin viki sad id that he died in a car crash...

Thanks for sharing this sick vid, Dustin! It looks like quite the buttclenching ride haha!
Dustin, awesome vid! Please can you tell us when you’ll upload the footage from ‘06 gumball of the f40 and f50 police escort featured on one of your vinwiki vids? Thanks man.
I have a video, a very old and crudely made video, from the finale of that Gumball in Beverly Hills on my uploads. It’s not the best but it’s something. I have a photo somewhere of the F40 and F50 parked next to each other at the hotel after. Glorious sight.
Rob Rules!
yeee haw!
I love it this was the hay day of rally i miss this shit
Watching this litterly is giving me anxiety like holy crap
Driving like that is pretty amazing BUT u gotta have balls to travel as a co-driver. Holly shit what a ride
What year did he run the Turbo X50?
Ah…the good ole days where nobody gave 2 f#%ks about anything and just had a $hit ton of fun. Wish the early 2k’s would come back.
This guy is a legend! Wonder what happened to him.
Dustin talks a bit about him on one of the Vinwiki stories. I believe he's doing fine just an off the grid kinda guy no social media no nothing.
Good old times
