      @carkawalakhatulistiwa
      They can. And that's part of the problem. The longer they are there, the greater the chances of them becoming corrupted. Usually, DC is a place for those who couldn't make it in the real world, so they became a senator. So the least qualified does. And since they don't have to be competent, they can get away with that incompetence for years. Something they couldn't do in the real world.
      However, term limits is just one means of keeping politicians under control.

    Even if this passes the senate and is signed into law by Biden in it's current form, will it actually prevent new sales of EXISTING models? I just watched another video where they were saying you'll probably still be able to buy DJI drones that already exist. The actual language of the bill would make it illegal for DJI to get FCC certification on any new drones, meaning they'd be illegal to fly. But there is NOTHING even close to talking about sales or possesion of DJI drones. If you look at a lot of the anti firearm bills democrats try to pass, they specifically say it would be illegal to sell or transfer whatever specific type of firearm they are targeting. Current model DJI drones already have FCC certification, and there is no language in the bill that mentions anything about sales of DJI drones, so it should remain legal to buy current models, even if the bill is signed into law in its current form. Also, companies typically apply for FCC certification well before the product is released. If some of these rumors about Mavic 4 or Air 3S/4 are accurate and either of these is going to be released in the next few months, it's possible they've already been certified by the FCC, meaning they'd also be available to buy in the US.
    There is also a lot of talk about the possibility of the FCC revoking certification for existing drones that already have been certified. This WOULD make it illegal to fly all DJI drones, even older models you already own. While still not technically illegal to sell them in the US, I'd image that any large retailer like Amazon/Walmart/Bestbuy/ETC. would stop selling them. This would not actually ground your drones. It wouldn't physically prevent you from flying your drones, just make the act of flying them illegal. Only DJI themselves could ground your current drones via a software update, but if they were already completely banned from the US what incentive would they have to do such a thing? This bill in its current form does not have any language that specifically mandates revoking existing certification. It's unclear if this would, or even could happen without further action.
    Either way, even if the outcome is that this bill is signed into law in its current form, and we can still fly and BUY current drones, it still sucks for the future not being able to upgrade to newer more capable models. American companies should put their money into research and development and make a worthy competitor to DJI drones, rather than paying lobbyists to get DJI drones banned, it's pathetic.

    • @2jz289
      @2jz289 3 місяці тому +1

      It's very important to note that the person who introduced this bill has ties to and can profit greatly from some US drone companies. Unfortunately, the intent isn't as the bill appears to prevent Chinese espionage, but instead to give the lesser quality US drone companies no direct competition (which lines the pockets of the individual who slipped this bill in when it passes).

      We do have american drones and some are so advanced than DJI. They even are autonomous that it doesn’t even need a drone operator. It comes with AI with onboard NVidia chip. But these companies are focused on industrial, law enforcement and military and none for recreational. Skydio has abandoned the consumer market and the new entrant Anzu Robotics seems to give us hope with it’s licensed DJI frame and using american firmware and controller operating system Aloft. But then, that too currently only has models for the enterprise class and we are yet to see a rollout for consumer in the future.
      The answer is yes, we do have american made drones. It’s just not focused for recreational purposes at this time.

    • @jamesmilagrosa
      @jamesmilagrosa 3 місяці тому

      @@SkyCandyVisuals the bill wording is very vague. It’s saying ban DJI drones due to its potential security risks. Ban through FCC which means it’s very uncertain the future use of DJI drones or its products going forward that requires FCC approvals. It’s not just drones, that includes action cameras, mic, or anything that T/R wirelessly. Mind you, the whole point of this ban isn’t just DJI, it’s all Chinese drones. Like I said, many business will be affected including hobbyists that use Chinese drone parts requiring FCC. Look at Hauwei through FCC. Where are they now? Yes they were doing something illegal. Whether they find something with DJI or not which they have no hard evidence yet to provide to the people. This ban is on the same train. DJI ban will become illegal use of DJI tech in US.

    I wanted to share my perspective on the current discussions regarding the potential ban on Chinese drones in the U.S. It seems to me that this ban does not truly reflect a genuine concern from the U.S. government about Chinese drones. Rather, implementing such a ban would eliminate approximately 90% of recreational drones sold in the U.S., significantly reducing the number of drones flown in this country.
    Additionally, it's worth noting that the momentum for this ban only started to build after SkyDio's exit from the consumer drone market. This timing seems more than coincidental and suggests that other factors may be influencing the narrative.
    I believe it is crucial for us to address this issue from this perspective in our messaging.

    This might be a very serious question during the upcoming election. There is a larger umbrella that covers this. FCC regulations were changed in 2017 to allow a foreign business to get 100% ownership of broadcast company. Almost all drones broadcast a video signal fro a considerable range. They are in essence a small tv broadcast station. For many years no broadcasting company could be owned by a foreign investor for more than 25%. The limit was officially ended in 2017 by the FCC. It did not involve legislation. The FCC just did it without any real law. The danger of a foreign entity having the ability to own broadcast stations in the US could be a serious problem. Especially a mobile broadcasting station running on software updated repeatedly by a foreign company. This not a question of free trade. The are some real dangers of flying drones operating in this country on software that could be changed by a foreign entity. While the drone can sort of be tracked. The person piloting the drone might not be the only entity capturing that video broadcast. No one could track who received the signal.

    Hhhmmm....seems to me that if the Seate allows this to pass. what will stop them from banning any electronics produced in China... IE: Cell phones, laptops computers, etc, etc

      Most likely it will work it just won't transmit geographic data to the cloud or even record it on its internal storage.

    As someone who just bought a mini 4 pro i am glad if it gets banned. I hated using my Air 2s with my phone, decided to use Litchi app to fly the air2s, it worked fine for a few weeks until it disconnected mid flight and never returned. I bought the mini 4 pro since it uses a smart controller and did not need cellular signal. Took it out on my camping trip and was unable to takeoff without logging in. That just blew my mind, such shady practices, why do i need to login to fly my drone. DJI drones are phenomenal but they use their monopoly to enforce these shady data collection practices and "features" like geo fencing. I hope this bill passes so we get some other companies that can build quality drones at those prices.

      In fairness, they did this to gain favor with FCC etc., apparently not very successful. Hoping if they do get banned, they will release a firmware that turns this all off in the US.

      If anything it will likely do the opposite. Especially if current drones in use are still usable. The resale market is going to be insane. I would love to see some retail discounts though, although I doubt it will happen.

    To be fair, as a DJI owner myself, I have always worried about the security concerns involved and definitely support what the overall goal is. If anything, they just need to get all their HQ outta China. Problem is, there's no way the CCP would allow it, which for obvious reasons increases the likelihood of a security risk existing.

    I support the ban, China has total remote access and global tensions are high enough they are becoming a potential issue that we have to take decisive action against. Guess I will also be happy that law enforcement pilots might have to actually learn more complex and secure systems, maybe actually learn to actually fly as well. Cinema, military and law enforcement are all better off with fpv pilots than pilots that can only fly with a flight controller doing virtually everything.

    Nah, if Dji can't stop sending info overseas, I have to agree with the government on this 1.. especially in this new world order we have going on.. too many enemies, not enough friends.. just like tiktok the info they receive is not only personal to you but also the states

      If there’s hard evidence that DJI does use data in nefarious way and do send it out to CCP. Then I agree. If no evidence present which there has been none whatsoever. I disagree with this ban. Besides, I love USA but still, we’re the biggest spy and info hoggers there is in comparison to most countries.

      Facebook sends and sells user data globally along with numerous other companies. There is no difference. If this company was owned by an ally it would not be under this scrutinization. This is purely a political campaign to monopolize US drone companies which have terrible products.
