In a world dominated by the larger brand names, the Arete definitely stands out (in a good way). It was the first thing I noticed when I walked onto the court last week in Ashville. One comment worth mentioning is the adjustment period. Michael let me demo one and it took me less than a game to get dialed in with the Arete, which to me, is refreshing and encouraging. That gave me more confidence so I could then attack the net and be more aggressive.
I say this because most of us have multiple paddles and so it gets tricky when we're switching out paddles. The Arete is a paddle that I could take out at any time and get dialed in asap vs the others to where it requires time to relearn.
Great review, man! I'm a supporter and actually expecting my Arete to arrive today. Hopefully, I get it before I head out for open play :)

Dang man that's awesome... did you end up going with the pink or the black design?? You'll have to let me know what you think and how your opinion evolves after playing with it a bit longer, too!
Thanks for watching and for the support! 👊

Went with the pink Arete it should arrive in a few days. Will let you know my thoughts once I get at least 10+ games in. I'll even use the paddle at my weekly league tourney. :)

So I spent the past weekend playing solely with the Arete. Overall, it was great and I had a fun time playing with it. I tend to hustle around the court and when given the opportunity, I try my hand at the jumping 2 handed back hand attack :). And with the Arete, everyone was asking what the heck I was playing with. It was a conversation starter 100%.I ultimately think the weak spot on this paddle is with it's power/pop. Though its more of a control oriented paddle, people are gravitating to the bigger brand names. That said, it could be tough for someone already playing a Selkirk Luxx, 6.0 Ruby, Gearboxx Pro, etc etc etc to pick this one up and play with it.
I dialed mine is at 8.3 oz with just 1 extra overgrip with NO lead tape. It was fast at the net and the 6" handle gives that extra reach and if needed, I could easily switch grips and play with a say ping pong grip if I wanted/needed to. The paddle shape makes the paddle look smaller but I had zero issues. Missed shots were more human error as I've been playing with a 5" standard shape paddle so there was some adjustment for me.
Overall, I will keep this one in my bag as I really enjoy playing with it. I say this with confidence that I would have zero issues playing in a tournament with it. And for a brutally honest response... my #1,2, and 3 paddles in my bag are Engage Pursuit EX Pro, Ethos Arete, and Selkirk Luxx (I still haven't been to dial this one in yet). Three totally different paddles, I know :)

WOW I love the Ereta racket. There's no break-in for me and I came from the Legacy Pro. Since it is head heavy and more aerodynamic like a tennis racket, I am able to swing big loopy forehands to generate extreme power and topspin on serves and ground strokes. So far after 4 sessions I have literally zero miss hits due to the racket face being smaller, and my playing has improved with each sessions... can't wait to get back on the court to use this awesome racket again.

Keep up the good work. I would keep your eye out for the Gamma RCF paddle series releasing in a week.

I tried with one of these on a whim a few months ago when it launched. I liked it but it was a little too soft for me. I liked the shape and if they made one in 14 mm for more pop I think I’d play it.

I think that's fair! I agree, it's on the softer side for pop, with power coming from the swing rather than the paddle face recoil. They have a 14mm Kevlar model in that same shape in development right now, and I hit with it the other day... I loved it, and it sounds like that one may be right up your alley when it comes out.

Is this paddle faster for hand battles?

What do you mean by fun to play

I think the Arete is fun to use to attack, reach, and whip balls with, and I love hitting drives with it. The shape give it a fun feel and I enjoyed playing with it! As opposed to some paddle that are more vanilla, plain, or not so different from a lot of what's already out there.
