Good on you for sharing what you have learnt.
I'm a carpenter and the way I was taught to hang a door in college back in the 80s isn't the way I do it today. I have learnt from people much older and younger than myself with different tips.
If it works for you and you care about what you do it's all good.
" Anyone who has never made a mistake in life has never learnt anything"
Hi, this the most constructive comment I have ever received, thank you very much for your kind words… you must be a very kind person and you’ve just put that in few words…I wish you all the best. Thanks for watching.
Great Vid, one of the best so far but please ditch the background music 🤬
I'm needing to buy a new door for my living room, found out that they do not come prepped for fitting hinges and handles and have never done it before. This is the first video I clicked on, doubt I need to watch anymore, time to buy some chisels I think, thanks! 👍
I love your videos and I think you’re brilliant at your demonstrations!
Thanks a lot for your nice words, thanks for watching… all the best to you…
Very useful information, as you say its handy to know if you do not have all the carpenter gadgets as these can be expensive, thanks for being considerate.
Enjoyed your video. Very therapeutic to watch 😊
Happy to help… thanks for watching… all the best 😁
Great video, very helpful, easy to follow, logical steps. You have fast forwarded the repetitive parts, like chiseling out the hinge spaces which is excellent which we only need to see once - Excellent work and many thanks.
You’re very welcome… thanks for watching… all the best to you.😁
Thank you for this video! I have searched for hours, watched dozens of videos, and this is the closest anyone has come to showing a technique for hanging a slab to a door jamb that isn't prehung. I also figured a way to hang one door after hours of trial and error, applying some instruction from videos and other web sites. One other video showed mounting the hinges to the jamb first but that took a lot of tweaking to get them lined up. I had decided to mount them to the door first and your video seems to confirm that step. Keep up the good work!
I am very happy it helps others, Goodluck ... thanks for watching and for your kind words...😁
You helped me enormously, and saved me paying someone several hundred pounds. Thank you sir. Lovely video btw
Excellent video without any 'jargon' or tech speak and easy for a DIY enthusiast to follow. Thank You.
Thanks for your kind words…all the best to you… and a happy new year.
I've been waiting ages to have a door hung so going to attempt it myself, great how to but I did have to slow it down in places as it went too fast! 😅 wish me luck 😳
Yes, sorry about the fast parts, I just thought is too long… wish you luck mate.😁
Thanks for watching.
Thanks for the info, I didn’t know about the hinge side and the lock side.
You’re welcome …happy I can help…😁
Done well....don't need to be a chippie to hang doors, just common sense and a chisel. Well said 😋✌️👋
Thank you for your nice words 😁
You done a better job than some of the supposedly "real" carpenters on youtube 👍
Thanks for your kind words… Goodluck.
Good man, top video 👍. Like you, I'm not a carpenter; I fitted my first oak door a few months ago, learning from videos like yours and reading up. First one went well so now I'm about to do the next 7off. I found this video had some good tips, thank you!
Thank you for nice words... I am very happy when I can be helpful ... Goodluck 😁
@@askhowtube Do you think I should fit 3 hinges instead of 2? Fire door hinges, 40Kg capacity each. Door is approx 27Kg. Capacity-wise 2 is fine but I'm worried about the screws (3 per hinge leaf).
I would fit 3 hinges to be honest... is more work, but better to have more screws.
@@askhowtube thank you 👍
Good vid I have fitted doors and will use some tricks I have picked up watching you
Thanks for watching... Goodluck.
I think you did a wicked job!
Thanks… Goodluck…😁
Great instructions thanks, I’ve got two doors of similar design that have needed hanging for 4 years (they’re for an airing cupboard, don’t judge me!). Following your method, I’m diving in. Cheers
I am happy for being useful. Thanks for watching 😁...
Ha ha have u done them doors yet
Looks like you done a good job , Keep it going
Excellent work and very helpful video. Thanks for doing this, much appreciated.
Pleasure is mine… happy it helped…all the best…
We appreciate the time you put in to show us how to do things I have learnt so much from you keep up the excellent work. I would be really happy if you could drop the music as sometimes I can't hear what you are saying. Could you please do a video showing how to fit fitted wardrobe sliding doors.
Apart from the music thumbs up 👍
Thanks for watching… Goodluck 😁
I knew right away you were not a carpenter/ joiner. But your father has taught you quite well. Fundamentally, you have done it right. Buy some good quality tools to complement your fathers old tools.👍
Thank you for your nice comment... happy new year 😁
They seem to work for him and he’s done a better job than most carpenters would do themselves!
Thanks for that info. I've learnt things that I didn't know about 👍🏻
Great work very neat job 👍🏽 keep it up. I wish I had some skills like you.
Not carpenter but still good standard diy person.
Thank you.
Your instructions are perfect 👌
Thank you very much 😄
Fantastico, thank you very much, well done.
Thanks for watching… all the best 😁
Thanks for the video it’s helped a lot
I am happy it helped… thanks for watching… Goodluck.
Thank you
Cheers
I like the accent. I feel like I'm watching a movie. " Tell Chocovic I was here and I want my money"
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Good job pal!
Well done m8. Good job
lovely job. great video.
Thanks
Great video 👍🏼
thanks for watching… all the best to you.😁
Not a bad job! Try clamping the door when using your spade bit to do the latch hole/chiselling the latch edges, that way it won’t split!
Thank you very much for the advice... sounds very clever idea... why I didn’t thought about it? 😁🙈
You can also clamp the extractor to the door as your drilling/chiselling so you have no mess as you go! 🤙
Absolutely brilliant thank you for the guide.
You’re welcome
This helped a lot thank you
You’re very welcome... happy been able to help...
Thanks bro ❤
Hi,
Great vid, can I ask where you bought your solid oak Suffolk door?
Hi, thanks for watching… I have bought it from wickes…
Good bloke. Fab video.
Thanks for watching 😁… all the best.
How long did it take you to hang it? I hung exactly the same door last week and it took me over 6 hours and I used a trim router for the hinges, latch etc! I am always looking for ways to work more efficiently and I think a plunge saw would save time, but it's a big expense. I'm a bit confused when I read that professional joiners can hang 6 doors in a day!
As someone in here commented earlier, I am not a carpenter, so I don’t have the speed of a carpenter, but I did fit it in about 1.5 h… first door will always take you longer… as you practice more, you will get better. Goodluck 😁
Depending on the frame really, if the frames are new fitted with the door size already accounted for then its so easy and quick to hang a door, but no door should take longer than an hour, i dont care how bad it is, over an hour just shows your level of experience im afraid,
Great video.
Hi when I did my apprenticeship hinge spacings were 6 and 8 inches for internal doors and 7 and 9 for external
good man I learnt a few things from that vid but plz get better music lol
Everybody is complaining about the music... I thought is not that important, but seems like it is, which means I have to do something about it 😀... thanks for watching
Well done 👍
Thank you
Looks good!
Really helped me thx
Thanks for watching…happy I could help… all the best.😁
Good job 👍🏻
Thank you 😁
Really helpful. Thanks for the help....
You’re welcome , happy to be able to help 😊
Nice work..! How long did it take you in total..??
Could you do a video on fitting a door lining? Many thanks
Hi, yes of course...I will do it on my next job... in about two weeks time...thanks for watching 😁
Mate get a compact router and jig set soooo much quicker and hinges sit perfect evertime.
Mate, I have two routers, but this video is supposed to help people whom are not carpenters, and maybe they have to fit one door only all their life, so is it worth to buy a router?
it's not easy hanging doors, this will help people
I’m happy if it helps 😁
Excellent m8 👍keep it up
Thank you 😁
Brilliant
well done
Thanks for watching… Goodluck 😁
Good Stuff!
The door seems to have split on the side when you fitted the latch. How can this be avoided? I would be very unhappy if that happened to me.
He drilled all the way through the door so it’s split when he broke through, this is a big no-no. Always drill from both ends, meet in the middle & pray that your measurements are accurate 😂
Great
These oak doors are solid core so don't have a lock block.
NOOICE!
Looking good but you must be the only chippy in the world left chopping hinges by hand and not using self center pilot drill bits
Very old school work
Mate buy a router and make a hinge jig.
Thank you Brexit! We’ll not have these talented people anymore. We’ll be forced to pay to Cowboys!
Thanks for watching 😁
England 🏴
Yet again. Fitting a door that ready fits. Bullshit why can someone show a door that doesn't fit and the work that's needed to make it fit
Because someone might want to see it… simple…
Lose the music when explaining things
hi, why do you talk so rude to the man, I don't understand, he was good for sharing his knowledge with us. love and respect.
@@Silkroads733 its not rude . There is no need for loud music in the background in this video. Simple
John Stephens hi, that’s your opinion, I don’t think he done it to annoy anyone..it’s the way you type “Lose the music” no please or anything just so abruptly. take care.
@@Silkroads733 OMG you got nothing better to do ? Like you ,its my opinion and good advice
John Stephens yes spot on it’s your opinion..it’s just that I still and will always suffer issues...I was bullied at school from the other pupils and teachers so when I see people being harsh when they say things..I sometimes try and question them on it..for all different reasons, I don’t only make comments on UA-cam I also spend much of my time reading subjects on human psychology, politics and mythology to name a few, if I have offended you I wasn’t intentional I just like to work on making certain individuals check themselves sometimes..as there’s a worldwide pandemic going on and I’m on furlough I have a lot more time on my hands..so the answer to your question if I don’t have anything better to do ...
Can you please drop a link where you get these doors from? Are they veneer doors or solid wood?
