Good on you for sharing what you have learnt.
I'm a carpenter and the way I was taught to hang a door in college back in the 80s isn't the way I do it today. I have learnt from people much older and younger than myself with different tips.
If it works for you and you care about what you do it's all good.

Thank you for this video! I have searched for hours, watched dozens of videos, and this is the closest anyone has come to showing a technique for hanging a slab to a door jamb that isn't prehung. I also figured a way to hang one door after hours of trial and error, applying some instruction from videos and other web sites. One other video showed mounting the hinges to the jamb first but that took a lot of tweaking to get them lined up. I had decided to mount them to the door first and your video seems to confirm that step. Keep up the good work!

@@askhowtube Do you think I should fit 3 hinges instead of 2? Fire door hinges, 40Kg capacity each. Door is approx 27Kg. Capacity-wise 2 is fine but I'm worried about the screws (3 per hinge leaf).

How long did it take you to hang it? I hung exactly the same door last week and it took me over 6 hours and I used a trim router for the hinges, latch etc! I am always looking for ways to work more efficiently and I think a plunge saw would save time, but it's a big expense. I'm a bit confused when I read that professional joiners can hang 6 doors in a day!

As someone in here commented earlier, I am not a carpenter, so I don’t have the speed of a carpenter, but I did fit it in about 1.5 h… first door will always take you longer… as you practice more, you will get better. Goodluck 😁

    • @leethistlethwaite4381

Depending on the frame really, if the frames are new fitted with the door size already accounted for then its so easy and quick to hang a door, but no door should take longer than an hour, i dont care how bad it is, over an hour just shows your level of experience im afraid,
