I cocked mine up but it works after a bit of bodging thankfully.
I have six doors to fit at my daughters new home. Very good demonstration. Shame about the music. Thanks 👋

Thanks now I can’t unhear the music 😂
unbelievable james....if you'd have seen the circus i made of hanging a door here in my house cursing banging blood fingers..lol...this vid is great just the simple things like coming down 153 on the jamb not 150...makes all the difference glad i found your channel mate...all the best
Okayyyyy, I'm going to have to watch this a few times over before I try anything. Thanks for the super detailed and clear instructions 😀
Fantastic video, very easy to follow. Thank you
Awesome video thanks mate… love your channel!!
Great video as always James. Really well structured. I'm about to install a few new doors so these tips will really come in handy. Cheers mate
+rpardz Thanks mate, glad I could help!
Excellent tutorial, the length of the video was spot on, as was the level of detail+explanation given, liked how you measured for the strike plate, that is something that I will definitely take from your work.
Thank you
Thanks Andrew, glad you found it helpful.
How large is 3 mil? Is that 3 thousands of an inch, or 3 millimeters?
Very knowledgeable person!!!
Did anyone see at what timestamp he shows us how and when he uses the levels?
great job James. I'm making some doors and hanging them now. that's funny you are working on doors too mate. check out my instagram.
+Zach Miller Nice Zach, yeah saw them on the twitter, very impressive. Custom made from reclaimed timber, does not get much better! Thanks for watching.
Thanks
Cheers mate, glad you found it helpful 👍
I've lived in a house with rattly doors and it's so annoying when it's windy! Nice work with the precision measurements. I know to some folk this might be easy but I appreciate these videos a lot!
+andrewford80 Thanks Andrew, appreciate the kind words!
cracking video James, wish I had your skills!
Never liked an Ozzie till now. Thanks bru. You got skills they multiplying 😂
Great video James!!! Wanted to add a dead bolt to a door, now I have a idea how to properly do it.
+Mondo 1310 Cheers Mondo, yeah same principles apply. Thanks for watching and sharing!
G'day James,
Just a question on hollow internal doors, I'm buying from Hume. How much can I trim off each side, the Website is a bit ambiguous, it says I can take of 3 mm. But am unsure if that will weaken the door?
Very helpful
Coca millet
You can see the hole slightly at the side of the latch where you drilled in with the 25mm spade bit?
Very helpful.
Harry Girgin Thanks Harry 👍
Smart
Hi James, Great Video, I am wondering why brand of door did you use in that room or what do your normally these days for something better than a hollow door but not a super heavy solid core door to add some proof to a room ?
This was really interesting to watch! Thank you for this!
Your a legend James. Please don't stop making these videos.
This is great thank you sir
Your welcome mate 👊
Did you mention the lock block or did I miss that?
❤❤❤❤❤this is absolutely gold content!!! Thank you for a simple yet detailed and efficient video!! Perfect info!
Glad it was helpful!
Jesus that music is irritating
Thanks for the constructive feedback 😁
thats brilliant, thank you for sharing. Hopefully its as easy as you make it look :)
G'day James,
thanks for the video, was looking at trying a router for hinges, but not confident enough to use one. As DIY bloke was wondering what brand of chisel I'd should be looking at, my place (as you can guess) is work in progress as just me living in it. Am keen on buying a router, but thinking I'd be a lot safer doing in with a chisel.
My other question is regarding the Hinge, and this is confusing! So how many of the "leafs" should be on the door as I feel I've got some of my early work upside down (or on the wrong way) leafs or folds??? Not sure. Thanks in advance.
G'day Bartbug1 :) I also use a trimmer from time to time to router my hinges. You can make a template that attaches to the door and router out inside that. There are also hinge jig manufactures like 'Fast Hing' that also make a good product. But you really need to be doing a lot of doors to get value out of them, for one or two doors a chisel would be the way to go. Stanley or Irwin are an ok brand for a chisel set.
With the leafs it really does not matter, so long as they are all constant thought the home.
Very good even a novice like me can follow
Oh god top of my door jamb is at a angle.
I hang doors in the USA, it is interesting to see the similarities and subtle differences in materials and procedures.
Nice quality video for a DIY overview of the installation.
I recommend that you demonstrate using the planer and other tools you mentioned in the beginning of the video for viewers with imperfect jambs and needing adjustments, perhaps a part two for more difficult problems.
Thanks for the feedback mate, yes a part 2 video is definitely on the cards.
learnt some good tricks from this, cheers! Finishing off little bits and pieces ( when i get time, hard with an almost 2 year old) and ill email u some pics!

Installing a door is a tricky thing, because if your measurements are not right, it will make your life a living hell real quick. As I am not a contractor, I just wanted to say that I, and sure many other's out there, really appreciate this in depth video. I installed a new metal outdoor door for my workshop and it was too tight against the jam where the toung was. I made the mistake of chiseling out too much, and now the toung slips away from that metal piece, so I had to install a hasp with a padlock in order to keep the door shut and locked. Is there a way to fix this or do I pretty much just rely on the hasp lock?
+Asphalt Warriors , Hey PTN, sounds like a tricky one mate , hard to say without seeing it, can you post a pic on the TIA forum for me to take a look at?
