    Has VFX houses and/or SideFX themselves come to you yet and told you it would be wise to stop sharing knowledge of Houdini to the general audience? I haven't found good paid or unpaid tuts for the Mantra engine, and I greatly appreciate your effort. In fact, I've backed it up offline. I'm a STEM guy, but an Artist first...I've found the Houdini discord and other community VERY VERY impolite and unhelpful. It's as if I have 5 years to plod thru this, in an Ad Hoc basis missing things at random, or get lucky and get an industry mentor, and voila, it's all obvious now. Average time to get any good in Houdini is 2 years with good help, so good luck with that.
    I think I can now render my sims natively in Houdini, instead of porting them to C4D and Redshift, or use C4D or Blender's grade school sims. What I'd really like is to make these things HDAs and use them in UE4. Am I dreaming a little dream too far?

      Thanks for your honest thoughts, I appreciate it. It's a long discussion for sure, but I hope the landscape of online communities will shift towards being more welcoming, or at the very least to being reasonable.

      @@AriseWorks, the software is so complex, ppl literally subspecialize like doctors. The only difference between those docs and reg docs if that they hold their knowledge close to their chest, like a Leprechaun and her gold.
      I have no interest in being part of the VFX (all 1,000 or so of them) that's responsible for the horror show they call the movie industry nowadays. Look at The Rise of Skywalker. One third of the total number of VFX personnel worked on that one movie because of the huge number of "reshoots" well within the last three months to its release date. Didn't help. 100s of millions of dollars extra.
      Beautifully made audio and visuals for turds.
      You know about polishing a turd right? Seems that's where the money is now. (I am using polishing a turd as a meta comment which makes it even more ironic.) Now not only a scene shot horrible can't be fixed, or a hero asset is so bad it's just not worth the time to not just start over...the whole IP is a turd.

      The problem is not the directors or awful scripts. It's the viewers who consistently buy tickets to watch for the Nth time the muscular oversized green person punching New York space invaders.

      @@AriseWorks, I'm starting to suspect given almost all production houses (4 of 6? 5 of 6?) are owned by a foreign government, profit has become secondary for a long time now.
      I do not subscribe to the idea of remaking everything and/or sequels of established IPs because EVERY remake or sequel but a few have been failures or washes of profit and expense. Disney is literally in the process of looking for buyers and Apple may actually buy the whole Corp in one shot (antitrust be damned).
      If the numbers we get from movies are reported from proprietary sources, how can you rely on them? As a former CPA, you can't.
      Marketing and business is not adding up, if Disney is begging for a buyer. Iger is coming back to save his baby. Good luck. Maybe make JUST entertainment, not fables of politics.
      So in the current milieu, it's a really predatory, cannibalistic environment, which _may_ just reflect the ppl in charge's private lives.
      So I do my Art, for Art's sake. I don't need anyone to say, whoa, you b great, yo. That's a sign of weakness, just like the seeking of fame.

      When H18 releases, and it will be applied to UE4. Sadly, no ETA on this particular theme, but it will be there.
