I didn't think thinset would be ok for wooden substrates? Obviously inside applications, but is there special prep for the substrate?
Just need to seal it first.
Love the owl!!! I was wondering if you could tell me where you purchase your smalti.
I purchase from WitsEnd Mosaic and DiMosaico. I have also been fortunate to buy some locally from artists.

Marvelous video! Do you use pre-mixed thinset? How do you so little of it at a time or do you just make up a very small amount since your pieces are so detailed in take time to do?
I mixed up a little bit and had it in a baggie.

How do you manage to make so much mosaic a week and also create a video?
Editing video is exhausting for me🤦♀️
Not sure if you saw how little actual mosaic work was done this week! I bit of my landscape and the start of the owl. I did pick up my exhibit work, start classes and do the demo day - so lots of connecting with people!

I think you mean at the museum. I have a baggie full of black tinted thinset with the corner nipped off.
whats your reason for not using welbond ?
I think there is a better bond with Polymer additive and thinset when using a heavier tess like smalti. I love Weldbond for stained glass!
