    Easily the best episode of the show. I especially love the scene with Maya and Chula. The audience being able to hear Maya's voice in her most emotional moment really hits.

    There is something so satisfying about how Vincent plays Fisk. I'm so glad we're getting more of him, easily in the top 5 casting choices in the entire MCU, along with Charlie as Daredevil. Can't wait to see them onscreen together again.

    I love how we see that Maya wasn’t raised to be a criminal from the beginning. Her father and Fisk tried to give her a normal life and shelter her from this violence, but she was *naturally* drawn to it. She wanted this life. And now that she has reconnected with her roots she sees a better, more fulfilling life.
    Also I would love a What If episode where we see what would happen if Maya actually ACCEPTED Wilson’s offer to become Queenpin.

      Yeah. She wasn’t forced to be a ‘villain’. And now she isn’t choosing to be a ‘hero’. It’s her rejecting a dangerous mentor that killed her father.

      I would more argue that she was a child mimicking what her guardians were doing. How the guardians respond is how she's going to start to develop her identity and learn what are acceptable and non-acceptable behaviors. Children learn how to behave in the world by watching the adults in their lives and seeing what actions are rewarded vs punished. She was surrounded by violence her entire life, and when she became violent (copying what was demonstrated to her), she was met with approval, so it makes sense that she'd follow that in adulthood. I'd argue that a six year old is incapable of being 'naturally drawn' to any sort of morality - they embrace the morality they see demonstrated for them.

    I loved Kingpin in this episode, I think they did amazing job with him and his character especially throughout this episode. I think they just perfectly delivered on everything that makes this character so special and interesting and Vincent D'Onofrio was really bringing everything to the table for his performance in this series and just killed it in this role, I’m so happy that they brought him back from the Daredevil series. I loved every one of his dialogue scenes with Maya, I just thought that the dynamic and history behind those two was so interesting and compelling and that the writing for all of their scenes together was fantastic. Also getting to see the scene where Kingpin beats that ice cream vendor nearly to death was amazing, this moment just felt so in character for him and I loved the way they made each of his punches feel so powerful and brutal. Overall I just think this show did an amazing job at writing and adapting his character and I can’t wait to see Kingpin’s next appearance,wherever or whenever it is.

      As someone who hasn’t done the Netflix stuff, I’ve been really enjoying this Kingpin so far. They’ve definitely just been working on the setup for him in the new DD and I cannot wait to see how they handle that. Unless the episodes are like 20 minutes they’ll have so much time to work with on bringing all these things into the mainstream parts of the MCU.

    Legit the best part of the episode is that I genuinely believe that Fisk actually forgives, respects and still loves Maya as family. Like I actually believed he was going to let her bludgeon him with the hammer. Ofc weather or not he’d let her is another thing, but his calm tone and demeanor only makes it all the more convincing, and terrifying.

      He loves her in a comparable way to how Thanos loves Gamora. It’s a genuine attachment, there’s a real care, a real desire to see them well and safe, but they are not capable of feeling love as it truly is as a concept, selfless and kind.

    I love how the relationship between Maya and Fisk is explored here because it's clear Fisk is using his own traumatic past to manipulate Maya into going back to New York with him. Looking back at the first three seasons of Daredevil, he's been an excellent manipulator throughout his entire villainous run. Easily manipulating the criminals he works with in Season 1 to even Frank Castle in Season 2, and especially Poindexter in Season 3. Fisk knows how to get inside people's heads and trick them into doing what he wants but the difference between them and Maya is that he's had an actual personal and close relationship with her. So Maya would be able to see through this because Fisk is doing this for different reasons. He's manipulated people in the past to get ahead with his villainous schemes but this is a lot more personal to him. Fisk even tries to Gaslight Maya by telling her to kill hin with the same Hammer he killed his father with. This entire exchange is the exact reason why Wilson Fisk AKA Kingpin is my favorite Marvel/MCU villain of all time! I loved Vincent D'onofrio's performance in Echo and especially in this episode!

    @BlindWave,
    14:29 Henry Lopez is William Lopez's (Maya's father) brother. Maya's mother, Taloa, was also deaf; the whole family (Grandma, Grandpa, Bonney, William, Henry, and Biscuit) learned sign language so that they could all talk with one another.
    In Fisk's defense, he didn't have the time to learn ASL. He's got his fingers and everything the world over. He didn't get where he is by taking time off from work. Yeah, he could have really shown his love for Maya by learning ASL, but if you recall what we saw in Hawkeye, her father told her that she'd have to go to a regular school because he couldn't afford it remember? Fisk changed that! He took a liking to Maya at her dojo when he realized that she didn't let her disability hold her back, and I think that was when he really started bonding with Maya, which the flashback here supports. Fisk kept William busy so that he could spend more time with Maya and he did that by enrolling her in the private school she originally wanted to go to and by picking her up after school.
    Yes, he used her as an assassin or his right hand, but he also cared for her as if she were his own child. He cannot get angry with her. In classic parent fashion, he's just disappointed with her.
    I know the showrunner for this series has gone on record saying that NetFlix's series is canon to the MCU, but I'll believe it when I see it. I take his comments the same way I take the Russos' comments about Steve always being Peggy's husband--what they claim doesn't work with how the story explains time travel.
    Kingpin, be it the Spiderverse or Netflix, has always put his family above all else. MCU Kingpin doesn't have Westley or Venessa. The only family he has is Maya. He told us in this story the importance of family; he's going to do whatever he needs to do to protect it.

    This episode's conflict is the one plot/character point that kinda confused and/or bothered me, maybe someone can enlighten me. I felt like from the end of Hawkeye and the first few episodes of Echo, Maya's motivation was entirely to 1) kill Fisk as revenge for having her dad killed, and then 2) as part of that revenge, destroy and replace Fisk's empire. She seemed so dead-set on it these first few episodes, going as far as bombing and killing some of Fisk's employees Punisher-style.
    So I found myself a little perplexed that she so seriously considered his offer of being given a chunk of his empire. I didn't see the motivation there and felt it came kinda outta left field. Is it just that like suddenly she felt her life would just be easier to not try to kill him again and instead work with him? Even though she was pretty successful in her goals so far? If so, I feel like the show didn't put in the necessary effort to work its way to that conflict of motivation after having it be so singular the first 3 episodes + Hawkeye's finale.
