Today's vlog begins with a wonderful cup of Chaiwala Chai as we wake up slowly and prepare for a big day of whale watching in Guerrero Negro at the nearby Ojo de Liebre. As two animal and wildlife lovers, today is an absolute dream come true!! We head out to the lagoon with a guide and spend the morning surrounded by the beautiful grey whales and their calves. These whales have recently migrated down from Alaska and come to Baja each year to birth their babies and nest while the young whales grow enough to travel in the open water. All we can say is WOW!! After an eventful morning with the whales, we head to a remote free campsite and spend the night eating vegan tacos and relaxing in our hammock.
We have loved living in a van (self converted sprinter van) for the last year and a half and while we enjoy spending time in Canada it can get a little cold throughout the winter. So, we've decided to hit the road and drive across the continent to enjoy some warmer weather in Baja Mexico. If our last trip to this country taught us anything... it's to expect the unexpected!!

When I saw orca whales for the first time in the wild, I was so overcome by their beauty and how majestic they were that I “ugly” (I like to think all years can be beautiful tho!) cried for half our boat ride! Nature is absolutely awe inspiring. I totally teared up watching this video! So beautiful, thank you for sharing with all of your viewers ❤️

Introverts get such a bad rap. We aren't antisocial, as a rule. It's just that interacting with other people is an energy-burn for introverts, whereas for extroverts it's an energy-boost. It's important for an I-E couple to respect each other's needs, and the two of you seem to have struck a good balance. I am a hardcore introvert, and was once in a relationship with an extrovert who gave me all kinds of grief about my need for quiet, solitary time. That didn't go well for either of us.

Yep! It's all about how you recharge. Has nothing to do with liking or disliking people. E recharge with people, drain alone. I recharge alone, drain with people. It's important to know how you recharge. Both are great!
There's a time to be a social butterfly and a time to spend alone time. It's a balance between the two.
"Yeah, it's annoying." I am way more like Bec. Too many people can overwhelm me. and I am a stage entertainer. Alone time is very healing for me.

I’m definitely an introvert. I do love meeting people but I am slow to warm up in groups, quiet until I’m comfortable, listening more than talking, and NEED time alone every day. My husband is a extrovert who also appreciates time alone. So we get along well.

Loved how emotional Bec was seeing the whales. It was cool. Love seeing the vegan recipes too. It is great to show how easy it is to be vegan anywhere. The longer you are together you will even each other out a little bit. I was more introvert when I met my hubby he was more the extrovert. Now we both enjoy being around people but also our alone time. Crazy hair cut. Don't let him near anyone with sissors. My hubby actually cuts and colors my hair for me. Saves money big time.

Whale watching was probably my favorite part of living on the Coast in Alaska, so I'll have to add it to my list when I make it to Mexico!

My boyfriend and I are the same way! He’s a definite extrovert and I’m very much introverted. We’ve been together 4 years now and have worked together to make it balance. Honestly I love that he’s an extrovert because he can speak up and or introduce us to new experiences that I might not have done with an introverted partner or by myself, not to mention the people I wouldn’t have met if he didn’t spark so many conversations. We make compromises by spending time with people and going out but then also enjoying peaceful alone time together or a part. It’s important to speak to your partner when you’re feeling exhausted from all the socializing and feel like you need to recharge, and then listen when they express their need to get out and socialize. Loved the video and the whales ! 💕
I was on a ferry from Vancouver Island to Vancouver reading My Land and My People by the Dalai Lama when I noticed a lot of people heading outside. I joined them to witness the most beautiful pod of about a dozen Killer (Orca) whales with babies breaching. They followed along for about ten minutes and it’s an experience I will never forget for the feeling it gave me was pure exhilaration and joy. I’ve been subscribed and liking your vlogs for about six months now. Keep on doing a great job in life you two! From an introverted supporter who lives in Toronto, who loves to meet and be with people as long as she gets a decent dose of on my ‘ownsome’ time.
My husband and I are both introverts! We love hanging out with friends but we need our wind down time too. Such a cool experience seeing the whales 🐋

My hubby and I are complete opposites - we live by "have your cake and eat it too - with compromise". In your situation - My hubby would go over and be social, and I would chill out in the van, with a brief explanation that I need quiet time. Its worked for us for 36 years. Have fun guys and stay safe.
Super great video.....I can understand Bec's emotions. Years ago (I've been around for a long time) I was fishing off Vancouver Island and was privileged to be in a small boat surrounded by Orcas and their young. I was able to reach out and touch. That memory has been etched onto a Coast Salish Personal Memory bracelet for me.....a cherished memory. Thanks so much for bringing it back.

I am completely like Bec on this one. I love people and being around them, but I need time by myself to recharge. My boyfriend is the exact opposite and it drives me crazy, but he knows when I need “my time” and either goes and does what he wants or waits on me to recharge. Y’all are great! Love y’all! 💜

What an awesome experience to share. I might have well cried too. I'm with you Bec. When I was a child, everyone thought I was shy, which I was but now as an a adult I think I'm more introvert. I like people and they usually like me but I don't mind standing on the sidelines and just watching. That's my happy place.

I'm very out going when I'm around people. Usually the loudest and most talkative but I must must have time to myself. I go crazy if I don't. I have a job where I talk 8 hours a day and stay in hotel by myself at night. Love it.
Hey all-enjoying this series with Baja and needing to overcome anxieties about travel in Mexico. Remodeling sprinter but worry about it handling roads there. I’m a introvert who prefers one on one (the reason I don’t have a skoolie with room for someone to play a guitar..;) My wife provides ample opportunity to get in a group setting. Tim Ferris’s interview with Susan Cain, taught me why I’m always cooking or at the bbq. Worthwhile. Enjoy and safe journey!

Eamon I’m like you, extremely extrovert but then get sick people. Need to re-energize for a few hours and then I’m anxious to go go go meet, greet and explore. Balance though is needed in a relationship. You guys are awesome. ❤️❤️

So cool. When we were up along the North Shore at Lake Superior it was a goal to see a Moose, because they are leaving the area to colder climates. So not only did we find one, we found 2! Walking across the road. I cried so hard, I couldn’t breath! So amazing! This is one of the things I love about Bec, she let’s her emotions shine. So happy for you.
I love meeting and seeing people already in my life .. sometimes .. but I live in my little van alone except for my two dogs.. so probably more like bec most days.. 😊
so cool that you were able to experience grey whales that close! Last year we went on a dolphin watching tour in New Jersey and saw up to 50 dolphins and 2 humpback whales. It was an unforgettable experience!
My boyfriend and I are in the same boat as y’all with the introvert/extrovert thing. Sometimes we’ll arrive in a new harbor after a tiring transit and he is already in the small boat and going around to meet more cruisers. He used to invite them back to our boat immediately but we compromised, so he will take the small boat and let me have an hour or two to myself to recharge and he’s not allowed to bring anyone over without a warning first. We have a mutual understanding that whoever invites guests over needs to clean up after them as well. Bec you should get some big noise-cancelling headphones so you can use the old "editing for our vanlife youtube channel" excuse to get score some alone time.
Whales were amazing. We saw dolphins in the summer jumping in front of our boat and I also cried! I’m 100% introvert and my husband is 100% extrovert. I’ve started putting my foot down and just saying no which means he goes out with people more on his own and I get time on my own. He also seems to get us stuck with people on holiday (usually annoying ones!) and it totally does my head in!!!

My girlfriend is more of an extrovert but we do separate things. If she wants to see people, she does and I don’t and that’s fine.
If I don’t get my alone time ( which I need a lot a lot) I freak out get anxious and burst into tears.

Married 18 years. I am just like Eamon and my husband is like Bec. If he doesn’t want to go out or be social, I just leave him and let him chill. Sometimes I drag him out and 60% of the time he likes it. :). Be you. Two of the same is boring. (we have two sons. One is an introvert and one is an extrovert ) Safe travels. Introversion vs. Extroversion is where you recharge. Extroverts recharge their batteries by being around people creating new energy. Introverts recharge their batteries with some alone time and a decrease in stimulation. If you give your introvert some space, they are usually happy to join in with people! They just need to recharge batteries. Introversion does not equal shy. Both my partner and I fall on the more introverted side of the spectrum but I have a larger circle of people I can be around that don't drain my batteries than my partner does.

I call myself a "closeted extrovert". In some ways I like meeting new and exciting people. In other ways I'm like Bec, I need time away from socializing with the world. Socializing gets exhausting and I will need to recover. In the end, it's all about quality over quantity. I'm also shy and reserved until I get to know and be able to open up to someone.

I used to be a total extrovert until I hit my late 20s/30s. Then I became a complete introvert. I've always had my moments where I'd get so stuck in a good book (despite my age) that I'd rather stay home and read than go out. Now I'd rather read than go out any day! Or do anything than go out. I've got you Bec. There are only so many people I can take until I'm drained and over it. I've got to have my alone down time to recharge!

I work 8-12 hours a day with people and when i get home I want ME time.
I shut the door to my craft./computer room and don't come out until supper, then I go back in like a hermit
I might go out on a weekend, but rarely because I spend 3 hours a day on a bus traveling to and from work (1 1/2 hrs each way) and I don't want move when i get home :D
You sound just like my dad! He has a big commute to and from work every day so he always says the last thing he wants to do on the weekend is get in the car and drive. Enjoy your me time today ❤️❤️❤️

Hi Eamon and Bec, I'm from The Netherlands and I watch your vlogs once in a while. I love to watch how you guys live in a van and travel around North and South America ! Funny that part about being extravert or introvert 😂. I'm the extravert, and my wife is introvert. We understand exactly what you both need and mean. I like to meet and get to know new people and my wife loves to have much time for herself. Grab a book and read all afternoon for instance. I think you make a good team, just like us !

I am definitely more introverted like Bec. My boyfriend is 100% like Eamon! He is constantly meeting new friends and wanting to keep going and going. I really enjoy my time relaxing alone with peace and quiet. Love new friends but I’m never one to go out and find them.

I was born an introvert and I actually set out to change myself into an extrovert. I’m the one people always talk to in a line. I like people and can listen to anyone but...I have to be alone a percentage of the day. In fact, I can spend several days alone no problem. My buddy is introverted so I’m the more social one by light years. Thank you!
