Last week we drove our new tiny home on wheels north to begin putting our off-grid capabilities to the test. So, naturally 😂, we decided that for our second trip in the van we ought to put the capacity limits to the test too. While our 170 sprinter van has seemed like plenty of room (almost too much room!) for the two of us, this week will prove just how comfy the new layout is when we add a 3rd human and a medium-sized dog!!! We all travel towards Tobermory and Manitoulin Island (living, traveling, sleeping, cooking & POOPING 💩 in 1 van). Could you live in such tight quarters with two other people and a dog?!

After a long 4 months of this VAN LIFE BUILD project we finally have enough electricity, water and other essentials in place to put our new tiny home on wheels to the off-grid test. We head 4 hours north of Toronto to explore some of Canada's most stunning wilderness with one of our very best friend's Lee and her dog Occy! The adventure begins with a hike along the Bruce Peninsula at Lion's Head where we get lost and nearly don't make it back to camp! Luckily the @Vanwives were there to save the day 😊 . The crew then heads towards Manitoulin Island where we learn the hard lesson that things aren't as free and open as they were before COVID. Readjusting to tiny living isn't so bad when you're in such great company! All this and more in this week's van life vlog!

You guys take me back to my hippie days in the late 60's early 70's, living on Galveston, Tx. Beach. ”Peace” only we didn't have a Can or even a tent. I can close my eyes and on a pitch-black night and looking up at the stars; it was magical, we cooked our food with hot coals and foiled wrapped and buried in the sand, we had the first idea of a slow cooker, and every night was a party. Those memories are priceless. So in 50 years from now, you can look back on your Van days as the best times of your life. Be safe and think of an old lady who enjoys and can't wait until next week on your adventure. Love from this old lady great-grandmother in the US who loved you guys!

I lived in a place called Reality, Texas behind the dunes on Padre Island near Corpus for a short bit in the early 70s at age 15-16. Hadn't thought of that for years and your post brought it back. I should do some shrooms and think about it.

Every time there is a shot of the full van, I can't help but shake my head and laugh at the MASSIVE yellow floaty strapped to the roof. All about tiny living ahahah. Loving the videos!!

@@kimberdc I see some sadness in Occy's eyes and on his face. He hasn't seen Max in so long, I think he may have resigned to not seeing Max anymore and is sad about it. I look forward to the happy smile coming back that was always on his face before when he was with Max. Do you realize that Occy is almost 10 years old?! In dog years, he's almost 70. I hope he gets a full checkup with the vet in Australia. By the sound of Eamon's bad breath comment, it sounds like Occy probably needs professional deep cleaning of his teeth and gums. Older dogs can get hidden gum infections which can affect their heart and immune system.

I just listened to Lee's guest appearance on the REROOT podcast and I just can't comprehend how she was so happy and positive on 3/1 and no longer with us on 3/26... What happened to make such a drastic change in her life? She was such a beautiful person inside and out and so self aware. It was due to cyberbullying you can read it on her gofundme or other youtubers have posted they knew a guy who would post videos to disrespect her and also on top of that the last screenshot on her phone was of a nasty comment from UA-cam.

No.It was due to her manic depression.
@@Poppinslime I think it ran deeper than that. She had struggled with mental illness for quite a while when she died. The cyber bullying certainly did not help matters. Fragile people are far more at risk of suicide if they are online and being bullied. This is why in part people who have mental illness need to be extremely careful when becoming an influencer. If you can’t take the harsh words of others it’s probably not the right place for you. Or tune off comments on all social media so you don’t have to read them. Most youtubers and influencers get harsh and cruel comments. But most do not end their lives. Those that do most often have some serious underlying mental illness.

It’s absolutely amazing to find out how you were all connected through Lee, she was and still is such an inspiration. To find out that Jaz from Vanwives was a childhood friend of Lee just proves how small this whole world is!! I love watching all your videos and Vanwives too (amazing reno on their cabin in NS) but it’s so beautiful to see you all with Lee. Our world needs more love to share like she did without hesitation. @@chevellevanderlinde6384 One day she got lost inside the web of tortured thoughts, alone the ticking time clock of self-disappointment or regret lead into an image of instant pain relief, I guess, as she managed to step into the path of an Amtrak train. I wish somehow Lee could have heard us cry out, ‘we’re here for you; find a way to be ok and stay with us forever’. It’s just no damn good to think you be not good enough to keep a love alive for in irony it is pure love that always stays when you are able to just let it go. Thank you Lee for all your love.
I signed up..from the hospital 🙏🙏 ready for van life. After 94 days in ICU I’m walking and talking again. Thanks for the adventures. I’m ready to meet up.

Sarah Castillo I’m a daughter of divorce parents. Seeing my mom struggle with all the emotions it made her 10x stronger and that’s why she will always be my rock! Hang in there. Very occasionally it's possible to see a fleeting emotion in a dog's face. For a split second Occy thought he was going to find Max in that van. It didn't last long, but if ever anyone wondered if dogs miss people - that's the sequence where it shows. So glad he's back with Max now.
The best thing about this video is Occy, he’s so chill, I hope this video doesn’t upset Max. Hopefully they will be reunited soon

Rubih it’s more about missing him that may upset him, I know I’d miss my pupper if he was on the other side of the world and I hadn’t seen him for nearly six months

I live in a converted Travel trailer, we call him Rio. I cook with induction every day. Likely your issue is the pans not the stove. I invested in some top quality pans and never had an issue but my mom tried some rather inexpensive ones and they stick and don’t heat well just aren’t fun. I love the Martha Stewart ones I have.

Riddle - Answer is a jumper or a hoodie or any top covering where you have to put it on by pulling it over your head. The one hole is the bottom of the jumper and the three holes is the sleeves of the jumper and the opening for the head. my heart aches. this hurts. I've been binge watching all your videos with Lee and this reality just sucks. I wish honestly someone was around at the specific moment in time just to hold her hand and remind her that it was a permanent solution to a temporary problem.

To be young and alive. I had my moments when I thought life was hell and would never stop being misery and I accidentally lived through it. If she'd just effed up and lived. Imagine the life she would have had with such spirit and friends to lift her up. Her lesson to us all. Fight like hell because one day you'll have moments like this, then more moments, and a few more, and you'll eventually forget how sad your life seemed.

Pan recommendation: i recently got a scan pan ctx and love it! It is no Teflon, but non stick and works on induction. I really love that it’s metal utensil safe! It’s also the best non stick I have ever used.

What I found helpful when traveling with my dog was whenever the dog got unruly or uncooperative I would tie him to the back bumper and make him watch the Chevy Chase Vacation movie. After seeing what happened to Aunt Edna's dog he generally got back with the program.
