Setup Radio Comms for AI Reinforcements!
Вставка
- Опубліковано 4 жов 2024
- In this tutorial i show you how you can setup radio comms which
you can use to call for reinforcements. The tutorial shows you step by step on
setting up triggers that will act as radio comms, each trigger is synced to a waypoint of the ai vehicle or reinforcement, when triggered the ai
will follow their designated waypoints and arrive in the area setup to support you.
Radio comms are easy to setup and use, the tutorial shows you a very basic example on using the radio comms, there are many ways to use radio comms but in this demonstration we'll setup ai reinforcements and an enemy.

I like how you did this using Vanilla . Great share Thanks
Thanks, i was actually going to do a tutorial on something else but that took a bit more preparation,
and then i had this idea which i had used in my own missions which is easy to setup so i went with it.
@@Gunter_Severloh That's so awesome I just love this game I can't seem to get away from it there's so much to learn' and when you work 60+ hours a week yea ...not much time LOL. Thank you so much for the uploads You inspire me!
Just a note, with the triggers and waypoints you can copy and paste alot of this stuff and then just change
their properties, and adjust positions and unit types to make the editing process faster.
wasnt there a feature to listen in on enemy ai comms if you captured a radio off a fallen enemy combatant in arma 2? i tried with arma 3, cant figure it out.
@@noconnection1839 I sorta of heard that, but then i never seen it ingame or a video of it, so idk.
@@noconnection1839 I just learned that what your asking about is actually in Arma Reforger but for pvp not ai,
as far as in Arma 3 idk, probably might work in some mod, and or be scripted.
In the East Wind campaign I noticed that the radio signals were coming up as a task like "Radio Alpha Squad". the option to radio alpha doesn't show until later on the mission since it be weird to see the option to signal before you have to. In this scenario you shown the options to signal were there but it didn't show up as a task. How do you make it where the option to signal those friendly elements don't show on the action menu until it matters later on the mission, and how do you make it show up like a task to signal instead of a hint?
Edit: I figured it out. Had to use setTriggerActivation for the radio alpha trigger.
The radio function does not appear and will not let me use this. I followed step by step
I need more information on your setup, so if you could answer the following questions:
1. For each trigger do you have one set for alpha, the next set for Bravo, next set for charlie ect,.?
2. Does your player character have a radio on him in your inventory?
3. When you are accessing the support ingame are you pressing 0-0 on your keyboard to bring up the radio menu?
4. Are you using any mods, or scripts that add radio, or does something with communications?
When I open the drop down menu for “Activation type” in the trigger menu, the options are as follows
1.Present
2.Not Present
3. Detected by BLUFOR
4.Detected by OPFOR
5.Detected by Independent
6.Detected by Civilian
And that’s it.
I have purchased NO DLC, And I have no mods other than a few terrains, and a couple CUP mods for factions and scenarios (which shouldn’t affect base game mechanics)
Pls help lol
Activation.
Test in vanilla without mods.
Do you have the legit game on steam because Arma 3 is only on steam?
Its a basic trigger it dont need anything advanced to enable it, or any mods, or dlc's.
If you dont have the radio settings in activation idk what to tell you, something is wrong with your game then,
maybe do a verify integrity of cache on steam for the game to make sure your game aint corrupted.
But if your trying to play a cracked game then were done i cant help you.
You dont need a radio trigger to call reinforcements, ideally you want a radio trigger but you can
setup an area trigger doing the same thing, just put the area triggers in a safe place and then when you
need a support to come just walk through the trigger.
Best put an object on the ground where the trigger is at so you know exactly where walk into.
Hallo I have a question(I'm kinda new). I like to play solo in editor(idk if it's a good thing) and create a lot of different scenarios for myself, but it gets kinda frustrating to always have to place enemies add way points and so on + do it for my team.... is there a way to make cities like a capture mode or something so that my team and enemies go fight automatically, call support for their own and so on, like create something realistic where I can just click play and everything different things happen? I hope I explained myself
(I use some mods as well)
I have drongos air, artillary and command
Lambs danger rpg
And that's it
Hi, ya nothing wrong with that, i know alot of people that do that including myself :)
As for your question theres a number of ways i dont know of any but one offhand that me and a friend created
its for WW2 though, its more an RTS but you can incarnate into the soldiers or tanks ect,,.

@@Gunter_Severloh love it! I'll play it later today! Thanks for the replay 😊
@@ybonna4601 Welcome, any questions, or problems dont hesitate to ask. Cheers!
Hi, can you redo this video with step by step instructions? In this video you used different assets as examples but I would like to see them broken down individually. One for sea, one for ground vehicles, one for infantry and one for air.
How about if i just put timestamps instead then you can skip to the parts you want.
Doing videos for each individual asset is a waste of time, all you need to understand is how to do one
because they are all the same.
Do this:
1. Place a boat where you want.
2. Give the boat waypoints to where you want him to go.
3. In the first waypoint's init box put a hint ----> hint "Boat support on the way!";
4. Place down a trigger (no size).
5. In the trigger under text (at the top) type Boat support (you can say anything here, it dont have to be Boat support),
6. Under activation (in the trigger) go to radio alpha
7. On the On Activation box type this code ---> hint "I need boat support!";
8. Once you have the above press ok, and the trigger is done, next go to step 9
9. Go to the 2D map by pressing M on your keyboard, go to where the trigger is, and right click it, at the top go to
where it says "set waypoint activation" then sync that to the first move waypoint of your boat.
9. Save your mission, and then go ingame then press 0-0 on your keyboard and you'll see the radio list come up,
choose the boat support or whatever you named it and the boat will start following its waypoint.
Once the boat reaches its first waypoint then a hint (message) will show up on the top right side of the screen (ingame)
which will be what you put in the boat's waypoint init box.
==============
For helicopters, tanks, or whatever else even an infantry squad, you can do the same exact thing, just change the boat for a helicopter, or infantry soldier, or squad, or a tank.
If you want more then one support, then draw a box around everything you created and copy it by pressing control C
on your keyboard, then move away a little, and then press control V to paste what you copied, then all you need to do
is just change the asset (heli to tank) or whatever, adjust the text in the trigger, and change the on activation radio call name
as you used radio alpha before, so name it radio bravo.
So like i said all you need to do is just do one and copy it, then adjust some things, and use the working one
you have setup as an example to go by, do that and if you have any questions just ask,
i'll reply as soon as im able to.
Dose ace3 mess with this method
Idk how it would its just vanilla triggers set to using the radio comms, which is just a channel, its still a trigger, its just being used in a different way.
