If I could give this video two thumbs-up I would. Absolutely perfect tutorial, I just did my mum's Ibiza, followed your advice step by step... As a none mechanic your video made the process very straightforward. Thank you so much for taking the time to make this tutorial.
Today done the engine oil change on my recently purchased 2012 Golf 1.2 tsi. Just used two tiles as a ramp and could easily get to the drain plug. Furthermore no rocket science but these videos still help for when changing the oil on a car you never done it on for the first time. Keep up the good work Cyclone cyd!
Thank you Martin. That's just what I'm striving for, all you need to complete the job - the bits, the tools, the knowledge. Still got questions? Found a work around? Have I made a mistake? That's what comments are for. Stay safe.
Brilliant video best on how to do it RIGHT with experienced mechanic/enthusiast. Oil is the blood in engine and should be changed as he says twice a year Sept and April. Like the second flush tip Brill
Cracking video, doing it tomorrow. Did spark plugs today, tried to use you cable tie trick but snapped a good few trying, ended up levering the plugs out carefully with long nose pliers. Thanks again for the excellent vids.
Amazing, thanks for good ideas about oil filter Pipeing and with fresch oil flusching trogh the empty enginge oil space. Saturday or sunday I do also my VW polo oil change, .. I use now also my New filter remower, almost the same like yours... I Will do exactly like you 😊👍👍👍🚗
I've got this exact 1.2TSI engine but in the Polo. My car has a loud rattle at cold atart ups that lasts for about 3-5seconds then all sounds good. I've been told it's normal by some people saying its just the oil pump circulating and other people saying it's either my timing chain or my chain tensioner. It's got 96k on the clock. I haven't had any warning lights or stange behaviour performance and reliability. I put a video on my channel of the rattle noise.
Hi VS TV, "I've been told it's normal" - bollocks! pardon my French 😂That's defo chain rattle. You wouldn't expect any warning lights. EITHER the tensioner is losing adjustment overnight. That means it's letting out residual oil pressure. OR the oil filter is. The non return valve is in the oil filter. What make of filter is that? Can't see any markings. Get yourself a bottle of this amzn.to/2W9xmAI a tub of this amzn.to/2WzI8PR and one of these amzn.to/35EPJkd. Mann are the BEST filters. Use the flush and drain the oil, then replace oil and filter as per my video - don't forget to flush a half litre through like I show you. Then report back if it still does it.
@@CycloneCyd my last 3 services iv done have had a MANN FILTER a MAHLE FILTER and now i currently have a BOSCH FILTER and it's done the rattle noise on all filter changes except it's not been so bad with the BOSCH one on. I had a quote of £495 for them to change the chain and tensioner along with the Service which i think is a bit cheap in my opinion but i can't complain unless they come back with other problems they like to throw at you.
There is no change interval for a timing chain. the timing chain should last the life of the engine (car). If you follow OEM service intervals it should last 100-150,000 miles (this is what the OEMs consider to be 'life' for a car) If you change the oil every 5-7,000 miles or twice a year, then unless you are unlucky the chain should last 100s of 1000s of miles.
good video , but as my knees are not so good now, i prefer to pump the oil out from the top dip stick hole using an oil extraction tool , as its much easier and no covers to take off either from under the engine ,should have done this years ago using this method just pump the handle a few times and go get a brew !! Cheers, some good tips on this video, just changed the oil+filters on Golf Mk6 Tsi.The only thing I did different to you,was I used a Pela 6000 oil extractor,so I didnt have to get under the car.Someone compared the extraction method with the old fashioned drain method you used here,on this engine, and the difference was only an eggcup of oil more removed with drain method,so I will keep using the extractor for now.Wanted to ask if you think there is any reason why the bonnet insulation could not be removed on this car?As mine has began to sag into the engine bay,and worried it will cause engine problems.(seems to be a common problem with the Golf`s.)
Thought I was on a winner here but sadly my 2017 Skoda Yeti 1.2 TSI seems to have a different engine. Can't even see the oil filter! Great Vid nevertheless.
Well done sir. I have 2017 Golf TSI 1.4 150HP car and it has service intervals every 2 years/30.000km which concerns me about my car’s health most of the time. It’s getting serviced at VW authorized service and they use Shell Helix Ultra AV-L 0w-20 oil. I had also Golf 1.2 TSI and it was serviced every 1year/15.000km. Should I really concern or these engines could get well with longlife service intervals? I wanted to get your opinion, cheers!
My opinion is that long service intervals are a sop to fleets to reduce the "cost of ownership". Once the car is out of warranty the OEs no longer care. Change oil every 5-7,000 miles or twice a year. Check out Honest John - he gives the same advice.
@@CycloneCyd Yes sir, I was also thinking the same. As a standart daily driver, I will let them set my intervals to 15.000km/1year from now on. Because I remember they were using 5w30 in my home country while I had 1.2 TSI golf back then.

@@preet22able At 9 years old I would give it a flush and change the coolant. It's the anti-corrosion package in coolant that has a limited life and why it's important to refresh. However, IF the coolant is very clean you could refresh just the corrosion package by putting in a bottle of Red Line Water Wetter. If you need to flush it out follow the general process and advice from here but just apply it to your car ua-cam.com/video/_DcrpAUlw64/v-deo.html we don't have the purple Polo anymore so I can't make a video

Yes, it is as far as I know. Like all engines though, it needs looked after. As the cam is chain driven it needs regular oil changes. I suggest every 5-7k miles or twice a year at least.
My understanding is that the 1.0, 1.2 and 1.4 TSi engines all take the same quantity of oil as specified in the video, 3.6 or 3.9 litre depending on age. If you're still unsure, refill with 3 litre, run the engine for 10 mins (a short drive). then let it stand level for 10 mins and check the dipstick and top up 1/2 litre at a time till it's half to 3/4 way to max mark. Recheck after next drive.

No need to faff about "flushing" old oil out...if engine oil at full temperature it will flush out itself...leave to drain 30 minutes. This is especially true if your doing regular frequent oil changes...
