A tip when replacing the fuel filter: take the protective caps off the new one before taking the old one off. When you take a line off, cap the connection of the old filter. That way you won't get as drenched in fuel when taking the old filter off :)

  • @markharris7662

When you changed the fuel filter it reminded me of when you changed the corsa filter. It was the first job I ever did on my corsa myself. Since then I've done all the repairs and services myself. I'm now into the 12 Year of owner my little corsa.
Thanks James you saved me a fortune.

they were factory filters, except the oil, funny thing they are mileage dependant in the service schedule, it could be the main dealer only did the first three years and it was within miles to not replace, or like many main stealers they couldn't be arsed

Thanks for encouraging me to do this service, plus spark plugs, on a newly acquired Roomster 1.2 tsi.
I hated changing the fuel filter, struggled like hell pulling off the hoses, got petrol in my face. Bad design VW.
Cabin filter- I actually put my hand in to find which way the vent blows.
Spark plugs - got myself a £40 torque wrench. For pulling off the cables and for pushing them back in, I’m going to get a tool, as when using just ordinary pliers was very clumsy, potentially damaging.
Oil change - got 10 litres 5w-40 from Halfords, used 5l to flush. Like the oil filter access.
Will definitely consider servicing myself, deep mistrust of local garages.
    Cheers.

It's a 2011 car. I got a 61 plate registered September 2011 so 6 months newer. They aren't carbon those pollen filters just really manky. Mine had a full Skoda history and don't reckon they changed it. I DIY mine. Same with the fuel filter. Main dealer standards are appalling. DIY so you know it's done right. Good video.

Reminds me of when I changed the pollen filter on my Qashqai. It was rank. Probably hadn't been changed for possibly 7 years when it was last main dealer serviced. If they did it of course, otherwise it would be 10 years old when the car was first built. Great video and always James, we do like a bit of diversity now and then. Keep it up.

Need to fill the oil filter before installing. Add oil, then push the centre down with something blunt, it'll allow the oil to enter the filter, continue until no more can go in. Also the oil level should be checked when HOT so you've probably overfilled it. Coolant also is low, needs to be full at COLD. Probably needs brake fluid changed, mechatronic oil changed, hinges oiled, tyres rotated; so quite a bit more.

3:07 - the breather hose. There is a good info about it on Briskoda. When I pulled the air filter housing, the said hose popped and I noticed that it’s been superglued on the engine head. There is supposed to be a grommet and the one way valve slides in.

Also, why don't people use a measuring jug to pour the fresh oil into the engine. When draining the old oil, remove the oil filler cap and drip stick. Try this next time, drain the old oil, then remove the filler cap and dip stick, and see how much old oil comes out.

3:42 you have got a bad non return valve, may be you should change that, it seems it's broken, common problem for TSI. You should have unplugged it before cover removal. Hope you have fixed it. Surprised how you missed it here.

Hello, could you please share a photo of your white interiors in red fabia? I'm thinking of changing from black to white, but I can't imagine it in a red car. Thank you very much. I did not find this combination elsewhere.

Where is the rest of the service, that is barely more than an engine service, so many more things to be done to call it a proper service.
