Hello Steve and Jim!! Whooaaa...what a nice facility!! This place was super nice. Thank you very much for highlighting this place. It's not a nursing home alternative. Any assistance or nursing care a resident might need would be additional. And yes, the monthly will increase, probably 3%-5% per year.
Steve...great video. I just hope that there will be a complex like this in every state. It is so important that a person can feel safe and accepted among friends. Why do you think Palm Springs is so tolerant of different lifestyles?
That would be awesome, wouldn’t it? As for why we are so tolerant here, that’s an interesting question. Palm Springs started out as an artist colony had to get away for Hollywood celebrities who wanted to escape the limelight back in the 1920s and 30s. The city was founded by all these creative people, so I always assumed that many of them were gay and the rest were allies, so I just go from there and attracted more gay people from all around the world. It’s become one of the few places in the world where the people can feel accepted and at home. 😊👍

Hey Steve, it's cool to see retirement communities built around things other than the typical golf and shuffleboard. There's also a zen meditation based retirement community under construction in Northern California. Apparently in most of the country, it is legal to discriminate against LGBT individuals in age restricted housing. I saw an article a while ago that SF and Riverside counties were the only places with laws against this. There's some kind of loophole that since these facilities are already practicing age discrimination, and they're seen as a more communal living situation, they can practice other forms of discrimination. I guess similar to college dorms that don't have to be co-ed, etc.

@@steveinpalmspringsca These are Senior apartments rent controlled. I'm sure there is a waitlist. What do you know about the Monarch Apartments, I hear they are for Seniors, also want gay-friendly environment.
Actually, I found the public spaces/restaurant rather depressing. I am very familiar with the Lodge at Fountaingrove in Santa Rosa, which was the first LGBTQ retirement community in the country. Beautiful spaces, meals are included. Difference was that at that community you purchased your unit, which could later be sold by the owner or heirs. They did experience also a shortage of gays and lesbians that wanted to live in that type of community. Eventually, the Lodge was opened to everyone-gay and straight to fill the units. Now there is a waiting list as I understand it. I hope they make a go of it, but I figure really, almost any community in Palm Springs is going to be 33% to 50% gay anyway... so is it really necessary to build and market an exclusive community? We shall soon see if this kind of thinking pays off in the long run....
Hi Ditto, thanks for sharing that. I hadn't heard about that community. You have a good point about everything here being 50 percent gay anyway. I wish we had something like this for us here in Texas. Our age limit is usually 65+.
That’s interesting. I just assumed every state had 55+ communities. Thanks for sharing that!
@lawrent... Denton Tx you only have to be 55 yrs., but I don't believe they have an exclusive LGBT apt. ~ at least 8 years ago when I left they didn't.
I love this.
It is beautiful but way beyond my price range. I'm glad so now I can move on to Senior Apartments in Hawaii at 1/3 the price.
Hi Bill, yes unfortunately they are very pricey. I’m surprised that Hawaii is cheaper. Usually it’s very pricey too. Sounds like he found a great deal. Best of luck 😄👍
@@steveinpalmspringsca These are Senior apartments rent controlled. I'm sure there is a waitlist. What do you know about the Monarch Apartments, I hear they are for Seniors, also want gay-friendly environment.
The cost of these places can eat up your savings and retirement. Are they worth it?
Very, very nice space, and ultra modern apts. …affordability is the question.
Lovely!
At a 5% annual increase, the $8000/month (2 bedroom) model becomes very nearly $10,000/month in 4 years. No thanks.
Wow!! This is beautiful, are you and your Husband planning on moving here?
No, we’re not planning to move. I do love the location and I would actually love to live there, but way too expensive for us!
I would thank that would give them a head start on succeeding. I sure hope they do. It would also be nice to have a community like this for those on a budget. Fingers crossed!
Catering to the rich LGBT, like always.
Do they have a chuck wagon and cowboys ?
😊👍
Oh! For the rich gays nice🌈
Super nice!
Wow!😮
Affordable for the rich peeps! I can't imagine paying 8 thousand for rent!
