This is probably a silly question, but what do you mean by floating the top coat? I love all of the info you are giving and cannot wait to try this method . I've been doing a builder gel, but not roughing it up. I think that's why my powders are coming off so easily.
@@jennyherron9245 not a silly question at all!! Floating the top coat is when you gently apply it- like just skimming the surface of the nail so the brush floats on top. Think of people skimming the surface of water while they’re using a surf board- they’re floating over it! The roughing up of the surface plus adding that first layer of dip base and letting it dry make a huge difference!!
Hi I just had a question I really like this tech but I can never get my nails past a stub so I need extensions but my dip never lasts I think my nails are too thin. Can you do this tech with gel tip extensions? and would I put the builder gel on before or after the tips?
@@skyehomsi5981 great question! If your nails are super short- I would actually use the small half tips that go at the end of your nail and adhere them with an air dry nail glue. Then blend the tip down to your natural nail so it’s a smooth transition. Then apply the dehydrator and primer and do builder gel. This way you’re not risking getting any gel on your skin! Feel free to ask me any other questions!
Random question.. what stays better BG or regular dip? Right now I use BG on my motjer n law and she washes her hands more than the average person. Wondering if clear dip would last long....or maybe its my BG process
@@sueann2555 for me - builder gel stays longer and I wash my hands an insane amount of time! It could be your prep or the products! Let’s start with prep- what’s your prep?
@@abominationangel yep!! And if it’s been a few weeks, you would file a little of the builder gel down to rebalance the apex when you do the fill. Then you can dip again over it!
Why have I never thought of spraying the alcohol. I've seriously done hundreds of of swatches the last few weeks and I Sar there turning tje bottle upside over and over again 🤣
I really needed to know about doing one coat of dip base and letting it dry then start with base liquid again. Thanks Nicole🩷
@@nadineburke8030 you’re welcome!!! Keep me posted on the next time you do it and how it goes!!
How did it turn out any update?
@@nickir.888I haven’t tried it yet as I’ve done gel polish or the gel method for dip powder ❤

So when you want to change the dip color do you file the dip color off and re apply the builder gel and then do the dip with another color?

@@alexismassenburg7514 you totally can do dip powders with the gel method!! I just only do it on occasion bc I try to limit my exposure to gels!
