  • At this year’s‪@TheFreedomFest‬in Las Vegas, Matt Kibbe sits down with English comedian Andrew Doyle to talk about how comedy, and indeed art as a whole, has been impacted by woke identity politics and critical theory. Doyle is pushing back against a claim that a comedian’s race or gender is more important than whether he or she can be funny. He’s also firmly committed to mocking those with absurd ideas, and that includes activists who want to police speech and silence dissent. The unique advantage of comedy is that it can hold a mirror up to the society and expose the ridiculous and the hypocritical.

Kibbe on Liberty is a weekly podcast with libertarian author, economist, and community organizer Matt Kibbe. As the president of Free the People, Kibbe has decades of experience in the libertarian political sphere, but in these troubled times he believes that open dialogue is needed to bring people together. This means being willing to talk, and especially listen, to those with whom we might not always agree, trying to understand perspectives that might otherwise be foreign to us.
Kibbe on Liberty's growing roster of guests includes politicians, economists, comedians, writers, radio personalities, activists, journalists, and even a magician or two-with topics of conversation ranging from current affairs to craft beer and the Grateful Dead. So grab a cold one, and settle in for the next hour of Kibbe on Liberty, mostly honest conversations with mostly interesting people.

    Very good conversation!
A great pleasure. One of the best and most precise on zeitgeist topics for years. I am amazed at how precisely it get to the heart of the matter. It's really terrific.

The actress who played Titania McGrath at Comedy Unleashed was amazing. She nailed the spirit and attitude of the character completely. If she agrees with us that it's all insane nonsense, good for us! If she doesn't and it was just a gig, good for her! She's a complete professional and provided uncontrollable laughter to me and many others.

While it's true that comedy transcend group identity at the same we should also remember that comedy has in the past been to legitimately dehumanize a group of people and I'm talking about black face minstrel shows.
That said l love comedy but at the same time I do believe comedians have an obligation not to repeat the mistake of the past.
