Nightwish as a band always evolved around the lead vocalist they had. With Tarja the band was strictly a symphonic metal band, with Annette they were much more power metal and now with Floor Nightwish is serving several metal genres and is what Tuomas wants it to be, depending on his mood. But no matter what genre and what vocalist, they always were and ever will be awesome.
I agree
I agree
I do like Annett's albums but I must confess the studio versions are my go to choices here.
Anette was and is certainly not a bad singer in the studio, and her more limited vocal range than either Tarja before of Floor after did mean that Tuomas had to write songs matching her range, which makes them more accessible for ordinary mortals to sing along to. But the live footage I've seen does seem to back up the oft-made claim that she could not reproduce her studio performances live - which in a band which thrives on live shows is a bit of a problem. Lip-syncing over the recorded track is just not the Nightwish way, and the difficulties she had with touring meant that she could never really click with the band - when she wouldn't cooperate with finding a stand-in for her maternity leave and wanted them to postpone instead (and lose how much in up-front fees to the venues I wonder?), I think her last ride of the tour at SLC was inevitable.
In the long run, everyone gained - she weent on to make music more in keeping with her abilities, and Nightwish got the most versatile female lead vocalist on the planet!
Poet and the Pendulum is an absolute beast to sing, whether you sing the boy soprano sections as well or not. Knowing just how hard that song is /and/ some of what she dealt with on tour (personal stuff), it's a wonder she could do it. Amazing.
..sad that Annette is weeping aside, especially hearing it from Nightwish fans..Why?!..She is a charming vocalist and She is part of the Nightwish evolution..She is the PART of us..SHE WAS THERE..:)
Yeah that’s the studio recording layed over the live performance.
Not hating on the song btw as it’s a great song
Looks like they've laid the album over the live... Possibly for the best.
Yeah, I've noticed in a lot of live videos she can't hit the high notes and sometimes is a little sour.
The sound doesn't quite match up. Is this a studio piece laid over a live vid?
Exactly.
You just had to with Annette.
Ya , it sounds too much like the studio version to be live ?! I don’t know, maybe I’m not giving Annette enough credit. Annette is great in her own right but I guess nighwish/Toumas was pushing for more. I’m glad because Floor is the perfect voice for Nighwish and then some !
It's the only way to show their work of this era.
Anette is a great singer check out her live Scaretale . Tarja was brilliantly operatically and Floor is all emotion .Three incredible singers in a fabulous band.
Imaginaerum is an incredible album partly because of Anette's vocals.
Charles Smith After Tarja departure Annette did a good job and the two albums with her vocals are great masterpieces.
I agree but just wish her live vocals were as consistent as the other two lead singers!
...on the recording yes. Loved it a lot, but live...
I think the audio in the original clip is shockingly bad so somebody used the album version and tried to match it up with the live clip. It works well until the point where Annette is pumping up the crowd by saying "hey hey hey hey and interacting with them" which is not part of the album version so there is crowd silence and silence from Annette at that point.
Thank you Suzie for defending Anette because she's heavily criticized by some nightwish fans. In an interview, she said that she would rather choose to sing in the studio than live because of her singing style while on stage. I'm not a fan of her but for me the 3 nightwish lead singers are great IN THEIR OWN WAY.
I really like the song, because it has a completely different style. I´m still trying to understand the lyrics 😅. As far as I know Tuomas said a few sentences about it in an interview, explaining that it´s about finding someone you love, but then again running away from the shelter. That´s what Marko represents with shouting "Run away". The line "Sometimes a dream turns into a dream" probably refers again to Poe (like the opening track "The Poet and the Pendulum"), he wrote a short poem with the title "A dream within a dream".
I've heard night, I have never heard this son from them. Its awesome man
This is studio version though.
This song's lyrics are very cryptic. For the longest time I didn't realize it was a Tarja breakup song. But having 4 of the 5 first songs of that theme in row in Dark Passion Play, I thought maybe the fifth is too. And yep, it was. As soon as you replace the butterfly with a human, it comes apparent. Tarja even made a reply to that song with "Until My Last Breath."
I believe that you guys have been duped somewhat. Visually, this is certainly the band performing the song live, but it is clearly the studio version which has been layered over the visual. Anette was not lip-syncing at all, she was actually performing the song live, but this recording has been spliced together AFTER the event. You weren't to know, and your patreon requesters should have known better. Oh well.
Weirdly enough this is Tuomas's least favorite song that Nightwish has done but I think it's great
"Nymphomaniac Fantasia" (album: Angels Fall First) never should have made it on the recording, and not only bc of the lyrics according to Tuomas.
Maybe because this is such a nasty breakup song to Tarja. Edit: on second thought, probably not the reason, as they played others, only "Master Passion Greed" they didn't, and yeah that was the nastiest.
Yeah, she sounds amazing on the albums but there's a reason why the album version has been put over the live performance..
This is one of my favorite Nightwish songs!!
The video portion is from an Australian gig originally broadcast on the Moshcam channel. In fact it was the very first time that I had seen anything by Nightwish. So my introduction was with Annette and I knew nothing of the Tarja era.
Annette was good in the studio, but weaker than Floor and Tarja live.
Like it a lot .. only probably the third I have heard with Annette singing
Wow! This was ballsy!! AN Anette-centric video!!! I saw them on this tour after the 4 month postponement. Anette dyed her hair blonde and was wearing some kinda sack looking dress, not knowing she was pregnant at the time. She sounded fine doing her own songs but sounded bad on the Tarja material which was half the setlist. Still, kudos to you for going out on that very skinny limb to represent Anette. Everyone involved deserved better than what happened.
song i never heard before.i liked :) thanx this one.
Yeah, this is definitely the studio version dubbed over a live video. You can get away with this a little because Nightwish play to a click (to stay in sync with the prerecorded orchestra tracks) but Anette was never this good on stage. It's a shame because her studio performances were really quite good.
Hola amigos 🤘🇨🇱
🤍 Anette
Live vídeo but the sound came from album.
I love both of Anette's Nightwish albums, now she's killing it in The Dark Element, good for you Annette
I love Annette's voice 💕 have you heard Scaretale? Perfect for upcoming Halloween 😊
😱 😏 live.......... 🤣
Lol do y’all know that that video isn’t live?
Am I the only one who sees her stop singing and lowering her microphone while her voice goes on? Did she lip sync?????
The video is separate. You're listening to the album version.
the audio is directly from the album, the video was edited in a way to synch up with it.. but it is not a live song ;)
@@dhaxgaming4488 At the beginning i thought i was looking at her first great live-performance . I love her studio songs and that Nightwish survived with her.
I'm starting to think that Nightwish is turning out to be a serious challenge to the good and all the other bands trying themselves to establish in the market. They're in a category of their own. And, their live shows just prove it, and also that unless something unexpected in the band happens, they will be here to stay for a long time. So folks, basically, excellent news for all of us. Hell yeah!!! Kind regards.
❤❤❤❤
In barbarian studio but live😑
Hey guys, I would love to see you react to a track called Break The Wall - Five Of A Kind - Live At Zepp Divercity Tokyo 2020 by a fantastically talented and accomplished Power Metal all girl band by the name of Lovebites, trust me they will blow you away. The pocket rocket that is Haruna the drummer is insane...all 1.42 mtrs of her. Great reaction. subbed🤘
*There are better examples from the Anette era like the official music videos....*
annette
Huh, weird. Same video i have seen, but different sound. I think the original sound was better.
Thanks god you chose an studio version. Anette sucked in her live performances... Nightwish music was complex for her register.
عالییی😚😚😚
Two Stoners lol
This is my fav Anette song. thechosenone665 on IG give her some love.
Nope ! 🥶
A versão do Marco é muito melhor. The Marco Version is very superior

Don't do that. No need for that nonsense. Check your life choices that you need to make comments like this.
