Again..... the way you teach and explain, I finally get it. You should have way more followers. Thank you for the time and energy you give to creating these excellent videos ❤️
Excellent, succinct, explanation. Thank you. Fuji's implementation of back-button focus in Manual mode is genius I think. It makes zone-focussing so easy and makes the camera super responsive. I generally just tap the rear AF button when pointing the camera about 4-5 metres in front of me, that gets me a perfect "Street" zone. At f/5.6 and 1/250th I just let auto ISO run to 12,800 for the ideal Street walkabout.
Thanks for the understandable narration ... Especially, the fact that you have used English subtitle is very useful for audiences whose phonetic English doesn't sufficient like me.
Hi from France. Just a word to thank you for this EXCELLENT tutorial video. I like your channel and especially this video helps me understand a lot of things others couldn’t. Please keep doing more of these. Bye.
Just ordered an x100v, should get here in a few days. Been binging your videos a lot, and I feel so much more confident with my purchase with all of the prior knowledge you’re sharing 🤟🏻
I am new to Fuji and am so confused with these AF options and how they behave. You are an excellent teacher and make the topic so easy to follow and understand. 👍Thank you so so much! ❤
The X-H1 arrival last week has had me scouring youtube for these. Although I have the T-2, and can get what I want for my simple needs, the power demands on the X-H1 has made me want to make it as efficient and smooth as possible. (Face eye detection off, slower video focus transitions, etc.) These videos info have trickled back to my T-2 understanding. But even after all the youtubes, this is the first that let me know I'm supposed to hold those afc and afs buttons down while focussing. Superior channel!
Thank you so much for this super clear tutorial Jay! I was messing around with the m, s, c, settings and my focus was out of tune at times. So much clearer now :)
I'm new to the x100v and a little overwhelmed by the focusing options - thanks so much for the video! Looks like I'll stick to AF-S as my training wheels for now :)
Thank you, that was helpful. I watched this video basically because I’m struggling with slow autofocus on my x100v. I switched from x-e3 to x100v and it’s huge difference in af speed. Trying to take photo of my 2 year old son was very frustrating. I told him to not to move :), bit sa soon as I take out the camera he start to running toward me. , and all shots are blurry. I’m gonna try af-s with single af and eye tracking.
Great disoveries here, thanks ! Using the colored autofocus window in Manual mode is really an interesting option to focus on an object that’s not in the center of the frame. Very organic.
Just discovered your channel...brilliant descriptions! I never understood the 'all' option when selecting focus areas and there were a couple more hacks you uncovered for me even though I have quite a few Fujifilm cameras. Thank you!
@@JayRegulargenuine question - what’s the point of using single focus on static subjects if continuous focus will still focus on those same static subjects in the same way?
I enjoyed the video, some good clear explanations of things that take a long time to understand without the video. The only criticism I can give is the interruptions from the adverts, which came at all the wrong time, interrupting your explanations. Still I gave a thumbs up.
Wow, that was so detailed and helpful! A huge THANK YOU! for the work you put into this video. I recently bought my first Fuji X100V and was a bit lost with all the functions and options. So Thanks again! 🙏👍
Very clear explanation. I just got the x100v and was out shooting yesterday and after going back home I noticed that I missed a lot of focus... I first followed youtubers settings and removed the focus on half-press shutter button and put the focus on the AF/AE button. But I wonder why they do that now, not sure it's the most practical. Also I did deactivate the joystick as they usually recommend cause yeah you often touch it without wanting to. I wonder why use the joystick and not better focus by pointing the center to the wanted focus area and recompose after ? That sounds more practical
Focus and recomposing works pretty well if you are shooting at a higher aperture value with a wide focal length. If you try to do that with say a 50mm lens at f2 and the subject matter is moving towards or away from you, you, there is a chance that whatever distance you prefocused at might not be the same plane of focus as the subject matter
Thanks for the clear explanations. I have recently begun turning off the AF option on the display. In "area" or "shot" mode, the focus square (I usually keep it at "spot") is never at the center of the display when I turn on the camera. I find it instead in the lower left corner of the display and must shift it with the joystick to the center. I don't know why that happens. It's as if it were a default position. At any rate, a pain. Hence my decision to maintain AF on off.
Clear and credible tutorial, well presented. Manual focus assists a plus, as split image and micro prism - fairly unique for mirrorless cams - are seldom covered on other Fuji posts. Would like to see follow up focus distance vid and why you prefer film to prism for focal zone imagery.
As a new Fuji user this was a great tutorial, you explained it very clearly. Thanks for sharing 📷👍
Thankyou for the feedback! Glad you found it helpful 👍
hands down the best video explanting the many options for focusing on these amazing cameras! THANKS!
Amazing explanation. I’ve had this camera for 3 years but still learned sooo much
Fuji needs to hire you to make tutorials haha.
Working towards these hopes and dreams 😁🤞
Absolutely! Even official Fuji's handbook can't be compared to this tutorial. It's so clear.
The best focus tutorial, thank you so much!

I'm often troubled with focus if Fujifilm. Thank you so much for explanation! Now it is clear!
Just got my new fuji x100vi. This video is a lifesaver!
This was awesome. Have been shooting Fuji for 6 years and this is the best and clearest explanation of focus on Fuji. thanks !!!
Thankyou so much Ron! 🙏
I’m a total newbie to photography and was just gifted a fujifilm x100T … this was immensely useful! Thank you 🔥
Excellent tutorial, coming from film medium format cameras, with only manual focus, this was extremely helpful!

I'm at XT-3 user and still found this very useful. Nice pace to the video. Well done on not resorting to clickbait or hyperbole.
Haha Marc, clickbait and hyperbole has its time and place, educational videos is definitely that 😁

Coming from rangefinder film photography, these OVF features are quite easy to understand!.
Awesome video man! You've covered these technical aspects well!

Hey thanks for the support! 🙏🙏
Revisiting this video today. Holy crap. I've been looking for the focus peak option for the longest time. 😅
AF-C + MF is the best!
You betcha man, don't overlook single point af great for static shots and still life
@@JayRegulargenuine question - what’s the point of using single focus on static subjects if continuous focus will still focus on those same static subjects in the same way?
Great video!!! I fumbled around experimenting and learning the different focus modes.
Thanks man! 🙏

Thankyou so much, I'm glad you find this tutorial helpful!
Ouah, best ever explanation about Focus. Thanks a lot
Really nice explanation. Only thing I could suggest is keeping the filming camera and the demo camera still by using tripods.
Thankyou for the feedback Mary, I will keep this in mind moving forward 🙏

This is the exact video I was looking for! Amazing job. Majority of these settings translates well to my x100f too :) Cheers!
Thanks Michal!
Excellent. Best I have seen. Thank you!
Thanks for mentioning that Pre AF runs the lens motor constantly and is stress. I had it on, but now turned it off

Dope video. I'll be using Zone focus with the box set to medium size and continuous af my street photography.
Haha that's very similar to my current setup! Works pretty well 👌

Thanks Paul for the kind words and critical feedback, I'm assuming you meant why I prefer film to pixel basis?
JayRegular Right, film to pixel. The scale itself is a good approximation of lens focal distance markings.
Great explanation, truly helpfull :D
This was so helpful
Well explained very good
Excellent video
amazing video, thanks
