    Have fun on your time off!
    I'm using those settings for real estate photography, because when you take multiple shots with different exposures for room and windows, you need the focus and camera position to be identical for the window pull in Photoshop!

    This was hugely helpful. thank you. I am fairly new to the system and had not figured out focus lock and the best part about using this technique is I get the benefit of focus peaking as well so I can real time see i my image is sharp. Now that I can lock a subject and continously see how sharp it is. Just a huge leap forward and will save me MANY wasted shots.

    Another great video. I really like your 2nd method utilizing the AF-M option as it is so easy to switch back to AF-S and auto focus mode on shutter half press. However I find that I can use the already- assigned AF-On function button rather than having to assign a separate function button as when I press the shutter the Shutter AF automatically has no effect. Certainly that is the case on the X-S10.

    The AF-On customization looks like a winner! I sometimes have conflicts between where I want to focus on and which part of the scene I want to expose for (I am usually on aperture priority mode). This trick should make it easier to fix that. As for the 16-55mm lens, it is a great lens for sure. I just wish it were a big smaller and lighter, because it's a bit of a beast.

    Excellent Fuji content on your channel. I own the X S10. The X S10 does not offer the front focus mode dial so 1 option is to activate the Manuel Focus mode and depress the AF ON button to get an auto focus lock. The location of the AF button is perfect for me. Also the rear dial on the XS10 does not activate if you try depressing it…only rotate. In addition I have the red highlight outline of the areas in focus activated, my eyesight is not great ( seriously poor ) so manual focus is too hard for me.
    I like continuous focus ( although I generally I use SF-S ) because it does exhaust the battery faster than it would say on the on X T4.

    I have an X-T4 with the 16-80mm lens. I never zoom during a shot as it looks cheesy to me (like a ‘70s TV show), so any ‘wobble’ is a non-issue. But…the lens is a bit hefty for my taste. I chose FujiFilm/APSC to keep my gear small and light. I hear the 16-55 is a top-notch lens but it’s significantly larger still, so not an option. I might adopt the 18-55 ‘kit’ as a solution for everyday use.

    I use the same technic for back button focusing. Just be aware that when you do this while on MF the focus area configuration is limited. You don’t have as many options as when in AF. Have you noticed that ? Not that it makes a difference for me.

    Love your channel throughly. How would this technique work in continuous shooting. I do bird photography and try to refine my focusing skills. I almost worry i almost over focus sometimes and so it's not easy to focus when there's a background or the focus skips off the bird into the Grey sky.

  • @matchesder
    @matchesder 2 роки тому +1

    Hi Pal,
    I tried your idea to focus with the Lever in M.
    The regular AF-On button is doing the same thing you’re promoting.
    Did I miss something?
    Or is just a preference to have the function on the dial rather than the button next to it?

  • @samson40a
    @samson40a 2 роки тому

    On my XT2 if I use manual focus I can just press the af on and get back button continuous focusing. Used to use it all the time on my Nikon but find it more difficult on Fuji.

    Hey Chris!
    I had a similar warning message with a second-hand 10-24. I sent it to Fuji but the repair quote was pretty high compared to what I got the lens for - so I got a 9mm manual lens instead.
    I was wondering if you received a explanation about the error and what could’ve caused it?
