I've seen quite a few studio Ghibli movies but strangely not the one you mentioned so i'll have to give it a watch! Thanks for that fantastic review of the Gouache, I was thinking of buying some and now I'm better informed
I dont think this one is well known, i got a dvd bundle from ebay and have been slowly watching some of the lesser known movies and theyre so interesting!
Thanks for the review. I had seen a set of these on sale at a local art store but had no idea how to use them. The tip of the plate/paper towel/ parchment paper was very helpful as well. :)
Glad I could help! . Really, I would say you just use them like normal acrylic paint, except you don't need to dilute with water or a medium with this specific set. Some of the paints do have a bit of an odor to them which I didn't notice at first, so that's really my only dislike about them.
They look like little mini condiment paints! 😅 I love the pieces you created with this paint - and I LOVE the stay diy wet palette you came up with. I’m having a similar problem with my acrylic gouache and will try this technique next time I use them!
Beautiful artwork! Dropped by for a view as I just got the primaries set I intend to have as my crossover paints. I normally paint tabletop miniatures but the kid inside me wants to paint childish surrealism on smaller canvas. Thanks for this vid, was very helpful. Also got to check that film out. :)
I love the colours omg. I ordered the same set as you. I wanna paint whit gouache and acrylic gouache. I now paint whit oils and watercolours and i don,t like them. So i am going back to himi miya gouache 56 colour set and i ordered the same acrylic gouache set as you cause i wanna try them. I started out whit painting whit acrylic,s but i,ve never tried acrylic gouache 😊i love you,re painting. Its so cute and adorable 😁🖼👋🏾👍🏾🎨 have fun painting😊👍🏾👋🏾
Hello @JenFetzer i have my himi miya gouache 56 colour set😁 i wanna paint whit them tommorow or now after my sketch. I don,t know what to sketch or draw🤣 have a great day or evening 👍🏾👋🏾😁
I know this is such an odd thing to ask but do you know the numbers on the back of each paint im doing some research for school project for my art class and my school wanted me to go to a craft store. I have extreme anxiety going into places like that im a bit odd but could you type the color of the paint with the numbers that on the back I would be so greatful!
I got you 🥰, dioxazine purple PV23, yellow oxide PY42 PW6, scarlet P073 PR112 PW6, primary blue PB15:1, ultramarine blue PB29, emerald green PY184 PG7, viridian hue PY184 PB15:3, titanium white PW6, mats black PBk11, primary yellow PY74, primary red PV19, burnt sienna PBr7 PR101. Best of luck with your assignment!
Yep! Just parchment paper with a slightly wet paper towel underneath. They have stay wet palettes you can buy but I haven’t had a chance to invest in one yet.
I’ve actually never tried poster colors, but really want to soon! The one really nice thing about the acrylic gouache is once it’s dried it isn’t going anywhere, so I feel like it’s more versatile than traditional gouache or poster colors since they are both water soluble.
I really wanted to buy gouache but the lady that owns the art shop said that it’s just branding and the all gouache is the same whether it’s gouache, designer gouache or acrylic gouache. I also want to know what the difference between designer gouache and normal gouache is? I’ve bought this product today. Worried I’ve made a mistake.. I really wanted gouache. Now we’re in lockdown (8.0 rural, Victoria, Australia) it won’t be easy to take it back because I’ll be too tempted to try it.. I’m going to try it! 😂😂
Hey Robyn, so designer gouache is just a name some brands use because it was mostly designers that originally used these paints. However there is a huge difference between regular gouache (which is what designer gouache is) and acrylic gouache. Regular can be reactivated similar to water colors but acrylic gouache once dry is permanent similar to acrylic paint. My favorite so is regular artist/designer gouache, but I’m still learning too. Hope that helps!
Thank you so much for your reply! Got a painting ready to go for tomorrow. Wished I’d gone for the schminke gouache pans but we’ll see how we go. Have you ever used Shinhan Gouache? A local artist has them for sale in her studio.
@@robynbird7852 you are so welcome! We do not have ShinHan in my local stores, but I have heard decent things about them. In the US our stores carry Holbein typically and if it’s a bigger store sometimes Windsor and Newton gouache as well. Also I just uploaded a sketchbook tour you might like, it’s all my paintings from the last few months of learning to use gouache. I don’t really go into detail about the painting aspects, it’s more like a show and tell haha
the tanuki have huge balls that are magical because thats how they are in japanese folklore! lol. the japanese just aren't as prudish about stuff like that, lol.
They are so adorable. I like your style. Thank you for sharing!

@@JenFetzer sorry for getting back so late and thank you for trying to help me
I love the wet palette idea.. Is that just baking paper?
Yep! Just parchment paper with a slightly wet paper towel underneath. They have stay wet palettes you can buy but I haven’t had a chance to invest in one yet.
cant decide between this and the nicker poster gouache ! which would you recommend at first?
