Danny Pelfrey is on sax---one of the best there is!! I had the pleasure to play music with him in the late 70s/early 80s in Winnipeg. An excellent musician and person. Good guys can succeed after all!!
A fantastic player. How fun to have performed with him. Any idea of any other recordings he’s on? He killed these solos!! I can’t believe I never heard this before.
Sitting here in tears, haven't heard this song since I was a teen, just brought back so many memories. That she still brings that much energy and surrounds herself with such amazing new talents just transcends.
@Itzaakspapa Danny Pelfrey is on sax and his wife, the late Linda Lawley Pelfrey is singing background. He does a great job on Way Over Yonder as well.
Carole man she is the real deal! Step aside Diva's you are nothing without your song searchers, and you market analysts. Carole just wrote her heart and sang her soul.
Interesting how much more this version resembles the one heard in The Simpsons, as opposed to King's original 1975 recording ... but I'm not certain whether this performance came before or after that episode was made.
I remember when this song came out. I was 17. Now I have been granted reason to live into my 50's. She gave me chills back then. She still does. I know this "chills" thing has been overdone by political pundits recently. Please don't confuse politics with spiritual seeking. In the ladder of life, musicians (poets) rate higher than politicians.
When I was going through my school years the high school 'Stage Band' as it was called played this and we had a wonderful singer who made me realize that 1) there was such an artist as CK and 2) there was much more to music at that time than just Led Zep, Pink Floyd, The Who, etc..
I also love to watch carole towards the end swing her head and hair from side to side, she has gotten a little more saucy as she has matured from her earlier years, she was somewhat shy then.
The most important female singer/songwriter of our time,,,,,,,King=musical genius! Since she rarely toured and you want more search you tube for Carole King/Aaron Neville,f..King amazing!
Carol is the epinamy of musicians', and my brother Jerry, reenforces her grandure to an even higher level. Solid and steady on the drums, he makes big brother so very proud!!
WOW THIS WAS THE BEST TIMES OF MY LIFE ....70'S CHILD ..NOTHING BUT THE BEST ..ROCK N ROLL- PICKET FENSES PEACE & LOTA LOVE & BROTHERHOOD .AMERICA ROCKD
Live music is special. I love the original recording, but this is another level. And each play gets to say their piece. At 1:30 Danny Pelfrey sounds like he's going to take it outside the harmony, but then changes his mind and just keeps it funky. Then at 5:00 ... well just listen!!
This is NOT the same version as on the live album, which is awesome. The saxophone work on this is so killin. Tom Scott blazed the trail on the original studio recording but this guy (Danny Pelfrey) takes it to the next level. AND, it is a ton faster than the original and he is gliding around it like he is attached to the saxophone at the brain. So great!
@@jpeyton62 I didn't know him at all before I bought this CD in the mid 90's and looking on Discogs, he is mostly a producer as opposed to a player. But he is better than nearly ANYONE at that style, on alto. Just goes to show that there is talent all over the place in the world.
ABSOLUTELY PHENOMINAL!!!,better than the origal version.Everyone associated with that live version gets an A+++ .Thank you so much for listing this version!
her voice ist awesome! and hes damn good with the saxophon! the song is full of emotion... i love it! it made me cry... and it gives me a feeling of satisfaction!
Where does she find these lyrics to accompany the music so precisely. Can you imagine being asked to perform this song with Carol King because she recognises your talent.
Lyrics were written by David Palmer with whom she worked in the late 60s. He was the lead singer for Steely Dan for a year until Fagen decided he wanted to be the lead singer. According Palmer, King called him and said let's write my next album, and they did. The best song from them though is "Ambrosia" on the Throroughbred album.
A lot of tempo critiques..keep in mind king rarely toured and when she did there where certain songs She wanted to open up and jam with and allow the other cats room to groove and they accomplished this In 6 mins.
My god this is good, this live recording brings absolute joy and release. It also brings back beautiful memories and moments in my lifetime, I don't necessarily believe in all Carol does or believes in but that is the good side of music which can unite people with differant ideas on life.
Carole is a musical genius. She has the gift. Timeless.
This has to be one of the greatest live performances EVER!
Look up...
Long train 81
It was! We were there, in L.A…..♥️🎼🎹🎷♥️
AMEN!!!!❤❤❤❤❤❤
Seriously!!
She could and still can bring it! ❤
Tom Scott was extraordinary in playing the Saxophone in this song. Tom also did some work with another band I love.. Steely Dan.
The lyricist David Palmer, an old friend of King's from pre-Tapestry days, was the original singer for Steely Dan.
This guy has a smooth soulful sound! Definitely moves the song and drives Ms King!
Because of this song, on the simpsons, I started to play my saxophone 7 years ago. Thanks Lisa Simpson !
I LOVE THE WAY SHE DISPLAYS THE OTHER MUSICICIANS
Song is as fabulous today as it was half a century ago...❤
The great thing about perfection is that it lives and breathes among us.
Millions of people pass by and don't even realize it. God bless the King

Thank you!
That sure looks like Tom Scott on alto sax to me. Why do you say Danny Pelfrey?
That guy can rock a saxophone like nobody's business.
The Drummer and bass player are great too. !
I love extramarital sax. 🤣
Danny Pelfrey is on sax---one of the best there is!!

This is without a question the best song from the 70’s . The days of AM radio
A LOT of good music from the 1970s would've given Jazzman a run for its money.
Sitting here in tears, haven't heard this song since I was a teen, just brought back so many memories.
That she still brings that much energy and surrounds herself with such amazing new talents just transcends.
I feel ya
Always love this song ❤
God I love her ❤️
It's so great to see new listeners discovering this music so many years after it was on the airwaves. Carole is a treasure.
One of the greatest concerts I've ever seen. Unbelievable.
Does anybody know where this concert was?

My favorite Carole King song; man they rocked the house that night.
I love this song since 1974, this is the best version I ever heared, Carole still rocks and her band is simply superb
My favorite song ever. CK is an absolute genius. Tapestry is the best album ever. Just a remarkable talent that we will never see again.

Fabulous performance! Carole, her bands and back up vocals never disappoint! Bravo!! Jammin guitar solo!!🌹💐
After all the years, she's still got it going on. True music !
I used to be faithless, then I listened to this song...
