    UA-cam just suggested this vid, sickest background ever. Nothing like a 8k background for some street cred. Whoever you fought for this idea use this comment to win every argument henceforth.

    You can and I did. I have a tall wall in my Living room, and I wanted it in my Living room as my exterior wall was brick and the electricity would have had to be run through a hard ceiling in the basement. Line set ran through the attic next to my wall with vaulted ceiling. Drainage was no problem as unit is 10 foot up the wall down to my 8-foot exterior wall. I had an old AC vent just under my indoor unit that I am using as an access to the connections.

    I installed 3 head units in a interior wall thru a corner closet and down to a basement ceiling cavity . I would recommend converting the condensate hole to sch 40 3/4in pvc for the horizonal run out to the exterior wall or a sum pump pit for better flow with no trap water.

      That's a great idea! For interior work we do recommend hard piping for a more permanent installation.

    I installed a mini split in my workshop attached to may garage. I ran the line set up and over the ceiling joists. The air handler was mounted above a sink so the condensate line ran down inside the wall into the drain for the sink with a dishwasher attachment

      That is creative! Every jurisdiction has their own codes so that method may work in your area while it wouldn't pass inspection in other places.

      @@gotductlessusa correct, some jurisdictions do not allow you to tie the AC condensate drain into existing drains. Always consult your local codes if applicable.

    With the 4th gen diy Mr. Cool, if I am running the line set on the exterior of the drywall, can the line that comes already connected on the inside of the indoor unit bend to go out either direction of the minisplit? It seems both sides have a knock panel, but I need the line to go out the right side, and the units seem to come with it bent to the left with the intention of it going out the back of a wall.

      Hello- yes, you can bend the line-set to go any direction. Just be careful bending them as not to kink them. Also be mindful of slope for your condensate line if you don't plan on using a condensate pump.

    Good video, thanks. Quick ?. I have an exterior wall I can use but I don't want the line set/electric/drain lines on the outside of the exterior wall since it's visible from the street, I'd rather have them run up on the inside wall since it's a garage...Can I install it like that? Just pass through the wall towards the bottom instead of up high? Thanks

      Definitely! You can cover it up with a line-set covering to make it look more aesthetically pleasing.

    I live in a 2 story condo. I have central air. There are 3 bedrooms upstairs. They all are very warm in the summer, and never cool properly. 2 rooms face the outside back wall where the AC unit is. The 3rd room is on the front wall. AC units are not permitted out front. Would a mini split be a good idea here?

      @gotductlessusa  7 днів тому

      Yes, you can install 2 units on the back wall and one unit in that front room. If you can't run line-set on an exterior wall then you can run it either into an attic or down to a basement through a closet. Feel free to reach out to us if you have questions.

    Variation on a theme: Is it possible to install a mini split unit on an exterior wall, but the line set run is above the ceiling in the attic? If so, is it possible to do this without visually exposing the line set to the occupant?

    • @gotductlessusa
      @gotductlessusa  5 місяців тому

      Yes, you can install a mini split on an exterior wall with the line-set going up to the attic. The only thing you have to consider is the condensate, but generally you can drop it out directly outside. You can hide the line-set by putting it either in the wall or if its a finished space, into a line-set cover. Like these: gotductless.com/collections/line-covers

    What’s the pitch per foot for proper drainage?

  • @thomasparks9329

    I ran one of mini splits through an interior wall, I'm worried about the line set sweating in the wall and molding in the future (the line set is run in a bathroom wall that I'm remodeling). I do have the insulation on it, should I be worried about this or no big deal? I'm in FL.

    • @gotductlessusa
      @gotductlessusa  Місяць тому

      Hello- copper lines with insulation on them can condensate when they are in high humidity areas like basements/attics/etc.. It can also sweat if multiples lines are ziptied together and are squeezed thin. From the sounds of your situation, I wouldn't worry too much about it.

    Can you replace a wall AC with a mini split?

    • @gotductlessusa
      @gotductlessusa  2 місяці тому

      Hello - yes, you can! But it is a little more involved. You need an outdoor unit and you need to connect the wall unit to that outdoor unit. The outdoor unit is powered from your electric box.

    Such BS. Didn't actually show installs and the issues and how to design. All talk. Waste of time
